About Pokemon Games
Pokémon Games
Pokémon games are enjoyed by millions of people worldwide. Although, Pokémon is geared towards children, Pokémon games are played by people of all ages.
Don't let the cartoon characters fool you. Pokémon is not just for kids. We have parents who also play Pokémon! Parents are always welcome at our Pokémon events.
It's easy for a young child or beginner to start playing Pokémon because the games are easily learned. However, the games can become more complex and challenging as one progresses through them. As different scenarios and situations unfold, different strategies are required! These challenges are what keep the games fun and interesting for players of all ages and skill levels.
Pokémon games encourage children to learn. Reading skills are required in most Pokémon games, as are math skills, strategic thinking and problem solving skills. Through collecting and trading, Pokémon games also encourage sharing. Players can trade Pokémon cards, as well as Pokémon in the video games.
Pokémon Trading Card Game
The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is played with a 60-card deck of Pokémon cards. Players send their Pokémon out into battle through the use of cards. While the game basics are simple and easily to learn, players enjoy the challenges brought on by more advanced play. Strategic thinking, problem solving, and anticipating your opponent's next move are skills that will help you succeed in this game.
Players can play with pre-constructed theme deck (sold as a set of 60-cards that's ready for play), or design and customize their own deck of cards. A tremendous amount of planning and strategy goes into building your own deck.
Pokémon cards consist of Pokémon (character) cards, Energy cards, as well as other helpful cards like Trainers, Supporters and Stadiums. Pokémon have different types, attacks, strengths, weaknesses, etc. The endless combinations and interactions between all these cards keep the game fresh and alive. No two games are exactly alike. Players have to keep adapting to changes in game state, and adjusting their strategies accordingly.
The Pokémon TCG is a wonderful mental game that exercises young brains, and helps to keep them sharp! Children have so much fun playing the game, they don't realize they're learning!
Pokémon Video Games
Pokémon series of role-playing video games involves the capture and training of a variety of Pokémon and using them to battle other trainers. By traveling around the world, capturing and evolving Pokémon, and defeating other trainers in battle, the player increases the level and strength of his/her Pokémon team.
For video game competitions, players select Pokémon that they've trained and send them out to battle.
Pokémon in Battle
Whether through the Pokémon Trading Card Game or the Pokémon video games, Pokémon games are played out through battles. However, despite the battling aspect of the games, Pokémon games avoid explicit violence. In fact, Pokémon never die!
