Pokmon Tcg Hidden Fates Expansion Introduces Tag Team Trio

The Hidden Fates set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game is introducing a triple tag team card with Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos fighting together.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is receiving its first triple tag team, allowing for the game’s original three Legendary birds to fight alongside each other in the latest Hidden Fates expansion for the game.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game added a new type of card in the Team Up expansion called the Tag Team Pokémon-GX cards. These cards involved two Pokémon working together in a single card, which meant that they had strong moves and higher HP than regular cards, with the caveat that their defeat would result in the opposing player winning three Prize cards instead of one. The fact that a Pokémon Trading Card Game match only uses six Prize cards means that it’s risky to use two Tag Team Pokémon-GX cards. The GX in the name refers to a mechanic shared by all Tag Team Pokémon-GX cards, as they all have access to an extremely powerful GX move, but only one GX move can be used throughout the entire battle.

Some Pokémon cards stand out just a little bit more than the rest either due to your own childhood nostalgia from playing the video games and memories of picking up the basics of how to play the Pokémon TCG, because theyre especially popular or powerful, or simply because theyre really beautiful cards thanks to the extraordinary art of the Pokémon TCG illustrators, showcase with alternate artwork and full-art cards. Rare and powerful cards are what everyones looking for, a range of unique legendaries to fill out your deck.

Its not easy though. With thousands upon thousands of cards and would-be Pokémon trainers each having their own preferences for types, Pokémon and abilities, its hard to pin down what makes the best Pokémon cards do you measure the success of a card by how well-known it is or how far it carries a competitive pro player in the Pokémon TCG World Championships?

Everyone has their own list of favourites, but one thing is certain: the most important thing about a card is the ability for players to have fun with it. That could be by collecting it, playing casual matches with friends or even securing a place in the next round of a major tournament. Every card you choose to include in your deck makes it unique, and if its important to you for any reason thats as good a reason as any to include it.

    How To Play Tag

Tag-team cards are quickly proving a staple with their chancy but rewarding nature, offering insane power if you’re willing to gamble three prizes. Play them late into the game where those added prizes won’t matter, or simply keep them alive with proper healing/retreating to avoid their loss.

Today’s units stem from the Tag-Team and Unbroken Bond sets, and you can examine more alliances with the older Legend cards . But for now, as we eagerly await Nintendo’s next batch of powerful partners, vote for your favorite tag-team and I’ll see you at our next Pokemon countdown!

    Arceus & Dialga & Palkia

This trio of legendary pokemon from the Cosmic Eclipse expansion is unique as it is one of the few that houses 3 pokemon instead of 2 and is also one that is better to be played at the beginning of a battle. Such powerhouses are usually saved for the last parts of a battle as a trump card but this trio has some attacks that benefit more from early play.

Their Ultimate Ray is an excellent way to do damage while simultaneously attaching energy cards from the deck directly onto one’s Benched pokemon. And their GX attack, Altered Creation, increases damage done by their trainer’s pokemon for the rest of the battle a serious buff that can start things off to one’s advantage.

Those seeking to use this tremendous trio are recommended to include Arceus & Dialga & Palkia in a Dragon-type deck. One that includes Water and Metal energy cards that have access to a way to search for energy so that one can use this GX card’s attacks that require a variety of such resources.

Next Pokemon Tcg Expansion Reveals More Pokemon Tag Teams

The Pokemon TCG’s latest expansion, Sun & MoonUnbroken Bonds, includes more of the popular Pokemon tag team mechanic that first appeared a month ago.

Pokemon: Sun & MoonUnbroken Bonds will be bringing back the Pokemon tag team mechanic that first appeared just under a month ago when the Team Up expansion released on February 1. The newest expansion will continue to build on that theme, introducing several impressive Pokemon team-ups that are sure to make long-time fans of the franchise excited.

The Pokemon TCG has been quietly experiencing some of the best formats the game has hosted in some time. Each recent expansion has managed to diversify competitive decks enough that there’s still room for experimentation even at the top tables, although like any TCG, there typically remains one or two ‘decks to beat’ at any given tournament. With Pokemon Sword & Shield on the horizon, the Pokemon TCG will likely experience a surge of interest, which makes the next few expansions prior to the Switch games’ release date vital in securing a healthy entry point for would-be consumers.

    • Reshiram & Charizard-GX
    • Pheromosa & Buzzwole-GX
    • Lucario & Melmetal-GX

Exclusive: Pokemon Tcg Explains Pokemon Tag Team Pairings In Unified Minds Expansion

The Pokemon Trading Card Gamerecently added powerful new Tag Team cards, but some questions remain about how Pokemon are chosen to appear on these cards. While normal Pokemon cards only represent one Pokemon, the Tag Team-GX cards represent a pair of two Pokemon whose combined moves do more damage than even the most powerful normal Pokemon cards. These cards are literal game-changers, but they come at a cost. Losing one of your Tag Team-GX cards in battle costs a player three prizes instead of the usual one or two, which amounts to half your prize count and is often the difference between victory and defeat.

To find out more about how these Tag Team-GX cards are conceived, ComicBook.com spoke with Atsushi Nagashima, the Game Director of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and Pokemon Trading Card illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita via email about how they decided on which Pokemon to include in Tag Team-GX cards for the upcoming Unified Minds expansion of the game. The new cards include powerful duos like Mewtwo & Mew and Espeon & Deoxys, along with more unusual pairings like Psyduck & Slowpoke. Scroll down to get a look at the cards along with explanations from Nagashima and Arita about why these particular Pokemon were chosen for these cards.

    Lucario And Melmetal Gx

Here are all the Tag Team GX cards coming to the Unified ...

Its always fun to see one of Pokémons best visual designs with one of its worst, and Lucario teamed up with Melmetal is a perfect example of that amusing disconnect. Still, its an excellent recent card with a very good defense ability in Full Metal Wall GX, to the point where its one of those cards you could pratically build a deck around. Or just imagine the bizarre buddy comedy between Nutblob and the Kung-Fu Fox, its up to you.

    Mega Sableye & Tyranitar

Mr. Nagashima: When we are coming up with ideas for TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX, we consider aspects such as whether the pair will be intuitively exciting, the story behind the two Pokémon, the synergy that lies beyond the friendship or the rival relationship, and whether people want to see the specific characters.

We wanted to feature a Mega Evolution Pokémon that we werent able to release during the XY Series. Rather than releasing it as a normal card, we thought it would be more fitting if it were a special card such as a TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX, so we waited for the right time. From a gameplay perspective, we needed a Darkness type, so we decided to release a Darkness-type Mega Sableye that hadnt appeared as a Mega Evolution Pokémon in the Pokémon TCG. We chose Tyranitar, a strong Darkness-type Pokémon, as its partner.

    Reshiram & Charizard Gx

    Type: Fire

Two powerful Fire-types unite for this scorching duo. No resistance here, and a moderate retreat price of three, but you’ve got a fierce 270 HP. This is especially useful considering Outrage, which singes for 30 at base, but adds 10 more for each damage counter on Charizard, maxing at an insane 290.

For more-reliable damage, Flare Strike scorches an intense 230, but you can’t use it twice in a row. GX move Double Blaze lands 200, and if you have three extra energy, adds 100 more plus immunity to any effects on the defending Pokemon. Nice to have available, but there are better GX attacksstick with your more-than-capable base moves and save your one-shot for another unit.

    Gardevoir & Sylveon GX

    Togepi & Cleffa & Igglybuff

One of two TAG TEAM trios in the Sun & MoonCosmic Eclipse expansion, Togepi & Cleffa & Igglybuff-GX has a couple of very interesting attacks. Its regular attack, Rolling Panic, does a base 120 damage, but then you get to flip a coin until you get tails. The attack then does 30 more damage for each heads. If you get a lucky streak going, this attack can be incredibly damaging! On the other hand, the trio’s Supreme Puff-GX attack doesn’t do any damage, but it can put your opponent in a bad situation. For just two Fairy Energy, the GX attack allows you to take an extra turn. But if you have 14 extra Fairy Energy attached, your opponent must shuffle all their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to them back into the deck. Good luck recovering from that tinypocalypse!

How Do Tag Team Gx Pokmon Cards Work

*THERE’S NEW POKEMON CARDS TINS IN STORES!* Opening ALL 3 TAG TEAM GX Tins With UNIFIED MINDS!

Although you may be excited to obtain these cards, you may also be scratching your head wondering how the mechanics behind these cards work? What makes them different from regular GX Pokémon?

First off is their power levels, which as you can see, have once again raised the bar, a trend that the creators of the Pokémon TCG have constantly pushed higher with each and every passing year of the games long and rich history.

Tag Team GX Pokémon, for now, are all basic type GX cards, meaning that you do not need to evolve them before putting them on the play field.

These Pokémon all have exceptionally high HP and would be considered tanks by many players standards.

For example, look at Evee & Snorlax GX who have 270 HP, or Magikarp & Wailord GX who have a whopping 300 HP!

In addition to this, they feature immensely powerful normal and GX attacks. The latter of which, fortunately for your opponents sake can only be used once per match.

With some damage boosting tool cards, many of these Tag Team GX Pokémon can easily be hitting for 250 + damage in a single round, knocking out just about any other Pokémon in the format.

However, we must now discuss an incredibly important drawback that comes with using these insanely powerful Tag Team GX Pokémon.

Also Check: Pokemon Sun And Moon Eevee

    Pheromosa & Buzzwole Gx

    Type: Grass

No resistance here isn’t great, but Pheromosa’s duo has a nice retreat of two, making escape possible. Jet Punch is rather weak at just 30, but it also inflicts 30 to a benched enemy and can be accessed with just one energy.

Elegant Sole scores a great 190 for three, but its power becomes 60 when used consecutively, so try to rotate your attacks. GX move Beast Game only hits for 50, but lets you take an extra prize card when you knock an enemy out, or three extra if you have at least seven extra energy attached! That’s four prizes at once, but getting those eight energy won’t be easy.

    Latias & Latios GX

    Raichu & Alolan Raichu

Mr. Nagashima: Raichu & Alolan Raichu-GXwas designed so it can provide a sense of continuous modification to the Lightning-type decks that already have Pikachu & Zekrom-GXas an archetype.

Along with Pikachu & Zekrom-GX, many cards such as Zeraora-GX, Tapu Koko , Volkner, Electropower, Electromagnetic Radar, and Thunder Mountain can be played alongside Raichu & Alolan Raichu-GX for an exciting experience, so we hope players can come up with interesting combos!
