While the Kanto region starters will be dropping EV reducing berries, Toxic Orbs, Flame Orbs, and Life Orbs, beating Mewtwo gives players the chance to earn Ability Capsules and PP Max.
Although, it’s not exactly adding a Mewtwo to your team, it’s something.
How To Beat Mewtwo In Pokemon Sword And Shield
While many other raid battles seem to fall under the “easy” category, Mewtwo is currently the hardest Raid Battle to ever exist in Pokemon Sword and Shield. This Mewtwo is Level 100, is EV trained , and can use 6 different moves when normal Pokemon can only use four. It is nearly required to bring friends along. Try fighting this Mewtwo with a full party of human players. One wrong move from an AI assistant can ruin the entire run for everyone. Teamwork makes the dreamwork. One of Mewtwo’s biggest threats comes from the fact that it;knows plenty of moves to counter almost any team.
Make sure to have a player to set up barriers like Light Screen and Reflect. This Pokemon also should not Dynamax, as setting up barriers is important to taking damage from Mewtwo. Marshadow is the best Pokemon to bring along for this Max Raid Battle, as it has the move Spectral Thief, a move that steals the opponent’s stat boost and attacks. This move can only be learned by Marshadow and finding this Pokemon was only available through events in Pokemon Sun and Moon and Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon. Finding it now is impossible without trading or hacking. Also, regardless of defeating the Mewtwo, it is not available to capture, although the player will get some rare items from defeating it.
Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now on the Nintendo Switch.

How To Get Mewtwo In Sword And Shield
Unfortunately, Mewtwo isnt in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Yet. Mewtwo appears to have been one of the many Pokemon that didnt make the Galar region cut. As of writing, without hacking the game, there isnt any way to get hold of a Pokemon Sword and Shield Mewtwo. The day may come, however, that you will be able to transfer a Mewtwo over to the game, thanks to the eventual release of the Pokemon Home app.
Nintendos upcoming Pokemon Home app will allow players to transfer Pokemon between games more easily than ever. While it remains to be seen how many Pokemon will be allowed to transfer in from Home into Sword and Shield, there is a solid chance that Mewtwo may well be allowed. Based on videos such as this from Kyugma, Mewtwo exists in the game code, being made available currently through hacks.
This likely means that Mewtwo will be available to transfer into Pokemon Sword and Shield following the release of Pokemon Home. Of course, time will tell if this is the case or not. For now, there is no way of catching or using a Pokemon Sword and Shield Mewtwo. Youll have to turn to games such as Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee if youre after an HD Mewtwo fix.

How To Get Mew Via Mystery Gift In Pokemon Sword & Shield
You might already be familiar with Pokemon Sword & Shield’s ‘Mystery Gift’ feature. This has been a series standard for a while, and is basically a way for you to get your hands on special, limited event Pokemon -;which Mew and the other mythical Pokemon typically are. In the last two generations, Mew has been made available consistantly in one form: inside a Poke Ball Plus.
The Poke Ball Plus is a special accessory that was released alongside Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee a few years ago. It’s a one-handed controller for those games in the shape of a Poke Ball, but also doubles as a Pokemon Go Plus.;
Each Poke Ball Plus has a Mew inside it when your purchase it – a bonus, if you will. Each Mew can be downloaded from a;Poke Ball Plus only once, ever. This download can be;either into Let’s Go or into Sword & Shield. If you’ve already downloaded into Let’s Go, you could eventually use Pokemon Home to transfer it to Sword & Shield. If your Mew is still inside the Poke Ball Plus, however, you can download it straight into Sword & Shield.
To do this, simply select the ‘Mystery Gift’ option in the menu that you open with the ‘X’ button, then select the option to ‘Take a Stroll with Poke Ball Plus’. Once connected to the Poke Ball Plus, you’ll be able to recieve your Mew.;
What Mew Does In Battle
Although not quite as powerful as Mewtwo, Mew is still a dangerous Mythical ‘Mon. With 100-base stats across the board and access to every TR, TM, and Max Move in the game, Mew can be a threat to any team. You can really do anything you want with Mew from turning it into a Baton Pass thrower to a Special Attack sweeper to a Reflect and Charm staller.
However, Mew is a true “jack of all trades, master of none” Pokémon. There are better Pokémon for any specific role, and the only thing Mew has going for it is its versatility. That and it’s pretty cute.

The Problem With Mewtwo Raids In Pokemon Sword And Shield
One of the newest additions to;Sword;and;Shield, max raids allow trainers to team up with their friends to take on gargantuan Dynamax versions of Pokemon. Generally,;max raid bosses are able to be caught after lowering their HP to zero. The Pokemon Day event also adds max raid battles against Dynamax versions of Gen 1 starters Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, representing the first time these Pokemon are available in the newest games. What separates the Mewtwo;raid from these others, however, is that;he literally cannot be caught.
While the trainers who take on;the psychic type;in his max raid unfortunately won’t get a chance to see any;stylish new Gigantamax redesign of Mewtwo, the titanic version of the classic legendary Pokemon packs more than enough punch to keep players busy. At level 100 and with amplified stats, Dynamax Mewtwo is capable of attacking four times in one turn, capable of wiping out an entire team of trainers if they’re not prepared.
Players who manage to conquer this fearsome foe won’t walk away empty-handed, however.;Instead of offering the opportunity to catch;Mewtwo,;Sword;and;Shield rewards players with valuable items in the form of Ability Capsules and PP Max. These spoils;are valuable to be sure, but a pittance compared to the chance to capture the powerful legendary.
