Next Pokemon Community Day May 2021
Niantic has confirmed that the next Pokemon Go Community Day will begin on May 15th and Swablu will be the featured Pokemon.
Moonblast for Altaria will be the featured move of the event, with you needing to evolve an Swablu caught during the event to get a chance to roll the move.

As usual, you will also get 1/4 egg hatching distance bonus and three hour incenses during the Community Day.
Mega Altaria will debut in Mega Raids at the conclusion of the community day on May 15, 2021, 5 p.m. local time.
Pokemon Go Mega Raids May 2021
The following Mega-Evolutions will appear in Mega Raids throughout May:

- Mega Venusaur, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Abomasnow will appear in Mega Raids until Tuesday, May 4 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
- Mega Venusaur, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Charizard Y will feature in Mega Raids from Tuesday, May 4 at 10:00 a.m. until Saturday, May 15 at 5:00 p.m. local time.
- Mega Ampharos, Mega Houndoom, and a surprise Mega Evolution will appear from Saturday, May 15 at 5:00 p.m. until Tuesday, June 1 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Swablu Community Day Features
As always, Mays Pokemon GO Community Day will come packed with features. They are as follows:
- Increased Shiny Rate for Swablu

May 2021 Featured Pokemon: Swablu
This month’s featured Pokemon is Swablu, the pre-evolved form of Altaria. All throughout the event, Swablu will appear in the wild much more frequently than normal, making this a good opportunity to stock up on Swablu Candy. You’ll want to take this chance while you can like Magikarp, Swablu requires a whopping 400 Candy to evolve, so you’ll need to catch a ton of them if you’re hoping to get Altaria.
You’ll also have a chance to encounter Shiny Swablu during the event. This variant is yellow rather than blue, so you’ll be able to immediately tell if you’ve found one. Like other Shiny Pokemon, however, it will be rare, but you’ll have more opportunities to encounter a Shiny Swablu if you use an Incense during the event.
What’s Coming In The Pokemon Go November 2021 Community Day
The Pokemon Go November 2021 Community Day is going to feature Shinx as a headliner. As is typical, Shinx will be spawning more often in the wild naturally, this means that you’ll have higher chances of catching a Shiny Shinx as well.
Shinx’s evolution is also getting a bit of time in the limelight: if you can manage to evolve a Shinx into a Luxio during the Pokemon Go November 2021 Community Day , it will be guaranteed to have the Charged Attack Psychic Fangs. You’ll be able to play the Pokemon Go November 2021 Community Day on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from 11:00 AM-5:00 PM local time. That’s a fair amount of advance notice for this Community Day, and that’s deliberate Pokemon Go’s Director of Global Product Marketing Michael Steranka explains in a new developer diary that Niantic is making an effort to give Trainers more time to plan for upcoming events by advancing it as far in advance as possible.

Not only will you have more chances to catch Swablu during the Community Day, but Niantic is also introducing Mega Altaria to the game immediately after the events ends. Pokemon Go May 2021 Community Day Expectations
Trainers, after four successful Community Day events in 2021, its time for the next, fifth, Community Day in May.
There are a few hours in a month that are fully dedicated to a chosen Pokemon and its abilities and other forms. Every Trainer is looking forward to the event called Community Day, where the special Pokemon, usually a Pokemon that is rare or uncommon spawn, shows up in the wild with an increased rate of spawning.
In the previous months, we have had great Community Day events, with great bonuses and Shiny forms. This event gives us a chance to stack up those Candies so we can evolve the Pokemon and get their exclusive moves, available during the event and two hours after it ends.
The next Community Day is in May. It is a month full of bright sun and flowers, so which Pokemon could be the next featured Pokemon?

The Pokémon Go Community Day in May 2021 is just around the corner and excitement is starting to build among trainers.
Each month, Niantic will host a special event, typically on a Sunday, where a specific Pokémon will be much more common during certain hours of the day, with the chances of picking up a shiny version being much greater than usual.

Niantic confirmed that May Community Day will take place on 15th May 2021, between 11 am and 5 pm local time.
Swablu Confirmed
While leaks surfaced before Niantic made their official announcement, they revealed on the game’s official blog that Swablu will be the featured Pokemon for May.

May 2021 Community Day
Pokemon Go’s May Community Day is set for Saturday, May 15. The event will run from 11 AM to 5 PM local time, and the featured Pokemon this month will be Swablu. The Cotton Bird Pokemon will appear in the wild more frequently throughout the event, and you’ll have a chance to catch Shiny Swablu. Not only that, but Niantic is introducing Mega Altaria to the game immediately following the Community Day.
How To Prepare For Pokmon Go Community Day
First of all, the secret allure of Community Day is the introduction of a shiny version of the highlighted Pokémon, which will have a boosted rate during the event. That, combined with the increased spawns, makes it easy to get a a handful of shinies across the six hours.
Remember, unlike high IV Pokémon, shinies don’t appear in the same place for everyone like high-IV Pokémon – there’s a random chance of each one you encounter could be a shiny. If you’re struggling, try ‘shiny checking’, by tapping a Pokémon, then backing out without catching, then moving on to the next.
Second, there will be bonus Field Research. Community Days also have their own special Field Research tasks based on the specific Pokémon the day is highlighting. The rewards are usually just consumable items – Berries and the like – but it’s an additional thing to complete as you play.
Third, every Community Day offers 3-Hour Lures. This is the perfect day to catch as many Pokémon as physically possible, and with the increased spawn rate, increase your chances of finding a shiny.
The best way to take advantage of these bonuses is to find a set of PokéStops that are in quick walking distance or one another. You can then set up a Lure Module in one and then walk between the PokéStops taking advantage of the Lure and ensuring that you don’t run out of Poké Balls or Berries.

Oshawott Community Day is, as always with the starter Pokémon Community Days, perfect for trainers who haven’t been able to add this Pokémon or their full evolution line to their Pokédex yet. With the increased Oshawott spawns and a healthy supply of Pinap Berries, you’ll quickly be able to gather all of the Candy you need to complete these evolutions.

May’s Community Day Move: Moonblast
If you’re able to evolve Swablu into Altaria during May’s Community Day or up to two hours after the event ends, it will know the powerful Fairy-type Charged Attack Moonblast. Altaria normally cannot learn this attack in Pokemon Go, making this your only chance to get it.
Moonblast is a good move for Altaria to know as previously mentioned, Niantic is introducing Mega Altaria to the game immediately following the Community Day, and this form is part-Fairy, meaning it gets an attack bonus when it uses Fairy-type attacks such as Moonblast. To Mega Evolve your own Altaria, however, you’ll need to first stock up on Altaria Mega Energy, and this is primarily earned by defeating the Pokemon in Mega Raids.

How To Find A Shiny Swablu On Community Day
Community Day events have a heightened Shiny rate for the featured Pokémon, so if youre playing, you should be able to find several Shiny Swablu. If you dont have time to play all day, you can find a Shiny Swablu by popping an Incense, and tapping each Swablu that pops up. The Shiny rate on Community Days is approximately 1 in 25, according to The Silph Roads research, so you should find a Shiny Swablu quickly.
How Good Is Altaria In Raids And Pvp
In PvE content like gyms and raids, Altaria isnt very good. Its outclassed in both its flying- and dragon-typing, and its random assortment of fairy-type moves dont really help it. When turned into Mega Altaria, that changes a bit, as it can resist dragon-type moves with its newly gained fairy-typing. It will also boost other dragon- and fairy-type moves while raiding. Its still not the best, but it can fill a niche if you have the Mega Energy to spare.
In PvP content, Altaria is pretty good in Great League, according to GamePress. Its use of Dragon Breath makes it a terror to match up against, since that move is so particularly strong.
