Pokmon Go Bug Might Have Leaked New Rocket Leader Shinies
Could we be seeing a Rocket Leader rotation sometime soon?
Pokémon GO players have been enjoying the new Fashion Week event for a few days now, and with multiple regional Furfrou forms to add to the PokéDex, it seems we’ll be enjoying it for a long time after it has finished.
However, some players are enjoying it more than others, as a glitch or bug has gifted them shiny shadow encounters from regular Rocket Grunts. Usually, only Rocket Leaders’ Pokémon have a chance of being shiny, but it appears that the bug has turned on some shinies for Grunts, too.
This has happened in the past, and has sometimes pre-empted the addition of these Pokémon to the Leaders’ lineups. With Jessie and James returning in October’s Secrets of the Jungle event, it might be the perfect time to switch up Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra‘s lineups. Heck, could we even see Giovanni return with Shadow Lugia?
What Happens If You Keep Shadow Pokmon
Since you can also keep a Shadow Pokémon in your collection, many players would want to know if there are any special benefits of keeping them. The answer is Yes! They have great attacking powers thatll help you win different types of PvP battles in the game. In fact, their attacks are quite difficult to counter and they are the perfect option to win different types of battles after a raid.
But, like any other creature in Pokémon GO, even Shadow Pokémon have a few drawbacks. In exchange for high attacking power, their defense is so poor that they dont stand a chance in front of some counter Pokémon. So, if the other team has a Pokémon that can counter your Shadow Pokémon, itll definitely lose the battle.
Moreover, Shadow Pokémon are extremely expensive to power up. And, since they faint so quickly in the game, youll have to revive them more frequently. This will require more potion, thatll eventually cost you more Stardust. But, if youre willing to go with this tradeoff, a Shadow Pokémon will help you a lot in the game.
What Are The Odds Of Finding A Shiny Pokmon In Pokmon Go
Currently, most estimate Shiny encounters outside of events at 1/400, but during events the chances are much higher, sometimes even as high as 1/20. Even outside of events, however, this is a dramatic increase from the 1/4096 base rate in core games, or 1/512 using both the Masuda Method and a Shiny Charm.
That having been said, It’s still random, so you can get a Shiny right away, or it might take you two or even three times as long as someone else. Your best bet to finding Shiny Pokémon is to tap on every single Pokémon that spawns.

What Is Shadow Pokmon
Shadow Pokémon are corrupt creatures who are specifically designed for criminal activities in the game. They help players snatch collections from other people who have peacefully collected all the Pokémon. Shadow Pokémon were first introduced in Pokémon Colosseum and since then theyve been seen in almost every Pokémon game.
In Pokémon GO, Team Go Rocket was responsible for introducing shadow Pokémon. A year ago, when the team invaded Pokémon GO, they brought hundreds of evil Shadow Pokémon. Its important to understand that Shadow Pokémon look a lot like regular Pokémon.
The only difference between the two is that Shadow Pokémon always look angry and have red eyes. Also, theres a blue aura around Shadow Pokémon that distinguishes them from a normal Pokémon.
A Pokémon GO Shadow Pokémon can only be cured after youve purified it. But for this, youll first have to defeat the Team Go Rocket in a battle. In such battles, youll have to create a team of 3 Pokémon thatll go against three shadow Pokémon. After youve successfully defeated the other team, you can catch one of those shadow Pokémon and purify it.

Niantic Accidentally Switched Off Shiny Shadows
Trainers, some interesting news for your otherwise slow Wednesday. Reddit user jwebmusic posted yesterday to explain that there has been no report of a shiny shadow Pokémon in over a week on the Shiny Discord server .
You can read the full post here but a lot of comments mentioned by other players said that they also hadnt seen a shiny shadow in a while.
In a dramatic twist of events Niantic then promptly not only acknowledged to issue as seen in the below tweet:
They also have introduced a one-time-only free box on the in-game shop to compensate players for the issues!
Whilst this isnt the first instance we have seen of Niantic compensating players through boxes or other means, it is one of the fastest responses weve ever seen from them.

Shiny Pokemon Go Monsters Released In Surprise Big Bunch
Today were taking a peek at a big bunch of Shiny Pokemon released in a very short time. These new Pokemon were revealed in part in early leaks, in part in a surprise dousing of fun overnight! Not only regular Pokemon are appearing in Shiny form, there are Shiny Shadow Pokemon today, too!
In the mix youll find the terrifying Shiny Shadow Bedlum so long as you beat the right Team Rocket grunt. A slightly more standard Pokemon can be found in this same form Shiny Shadow Aerodactyl is out in the wild right now too so to speak.
Like Shiny Shadow Bedlum, youll need to beat the right Rocket grunt to have the opportunity to capture a Shiny Shadow Aerodactyl. This might be the one and only time this Pokemon is available in the game its rare enough on its own, much less both SHADOW form and Shiny Shadow form.
The final Shiny Shadow Pokemon out this week is the Shiny Shadow Carvanha. This one appears courtesy of a Sierra balloon, if youre looking. This deadly fish is the most wild combination of colors of the whole bunch, mind you.
You could also find Shiny Quilfish, Shiny Larvitar, Shiny Absol, Shiny Skorupi, or Shiny Deino in Strange Eggs this week. These are the red-dot eggs that need to be walked 12 KM to hatch. Appearing in the wild youll have the opportunity to see Shiny Koffing, Shiny Quilfish, Shiny Sneasel, Shiny Houndour, and Shiny Skorupi.

What Are Shadow Pokemon
If you are on the hunt for one of these Pokemon, you are first going to need to know what they are.
Shadow Pokemon are ones that have been altered by Team Rocket, as they will glow with a purple tint when you encounter one. As well, they typically have red glaring eyes that are frighting at first.
In order to find one of these Pokemon within Go, you are going to have to encounter and defeat a Team Rocket member. This can be in the form of a Grunt or one of the three Leaders , and once you defeat one of them you will begin a special encounter called Rescue Shadow Pokemon. This is where players will be able to capture one of these Pokemon and have the chance to run into a shiny form!
Can You Tell If It’s Shiny In The Wild
Shiny Won’t Appear Until Encountered
A Shiny Pokemon will not be seen in the world map of Pokemon Go. You need to encounter the Pokemon and go into the capture screen to see if it’s a Shiny.
Stays Shiny Even If You Run Away
If you leave the capture screen, as long as the Pokemon has still spawned in the world map, it will remain Shiny. If it disappears from the map and another Pokemon takes its place, it will not be the same Shiny Pokemon.

The cost to purify a Shadow Pokémon is proportional to its Buddy distance. The following is a list of all currently possible Shadow Pokémon grouped by the costs to purify them. Shadow Pokémon with a icon denote those whose Shiny forms can be caught during a bonus challenge. Shadow Pokémon with a Premier Ball icon denote species that, in at least one of any rotation, have been immediately catchable after a Team GO Rocket battle these icons redirect to the Team GO Rocket member the Shadow Pokémon was most recently obtainable from.
Some Shadow Pokémon have never been obtainable by players, but have been used by Giovanni or Team GO Rocket Leaders. These are indicated in cells highlighted grey.

How To Find A Shiny Shadow Pokemon

One special note is that during the battle itself, you will not be able to know if the Pokemon is shiny or not. You will only know once the battle is complete and the Pokemon is rescued.

What Else Makes Them Different
As you can probably tell, the visual appearance isnt the only difference between normal Pokémon and their Shadowy counterparts
In addition to the above, Shadow Pokémon were not able to level up until they were purified. This means that they were cleansed of their Shadow ailment and returned to a normal state.
Shadow Pokémon are typically stronger than their counterparts and in the Gamecube games they dealt either neutral damage or super-effective damage against all types Shadow Pokémon also had special Shadow Moves such as Shadow Rush that they could use instead of regular attacks.
In addition, due to their unstable nature, Shadow Pokémon have a tendency to not listen to or even attacktheir own trainers!

First, you have to find as many Pokémon as you can. That means finding spawns or nests where those types of Pokémon are common. Then tap, tap, tap away and see if you encounter a Shiny.
For eggs and babies, collect as many as you can. Walk as much as you can. And hatch, hatch, hatch.
For the Raid Pokémon, the story is the same. Find the Raids. Beat the Raid Boss. Hope the one you get is Shiny.
Field Research. Find the tasks that give you a Pokémon with a Shiny form, then work with your community to find the PokéStops giving away the right tasks, and then complete as many as you can.

If You Catch A Shiny Pokmon Can It Turn Into A Shiny Ditto In Pokmon Go
No. Magikarp was removed from the Ditto potentials shortly after Shiny Magikarp became available, and the same has held true for other common Pokémon since. However, on February 20, 2021, the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event will unlock the remaining Gen 1 Shiny Pokémon, including Ditto. It is unclear if this means that Pokémon with the potential to be Shiny will be able to be Ditto or if Niantic will handle Shiny Ditto differently than other Shiny Pokémon.

How Can You Capture Shadow Pokmon In Pokmon Go
You can only capture Shadow Pokémon by defeating Team GO Rocket in battle first. Once you’ve found a Team GO Rocket Pokèstop or a Team GO Rocket hot air balloon, you’ll have to defeat a team of three shadow Pokémon, usually of the same type, with your own team of three. However, once beaten, you will be able to attempt to catch a single Shadow Pokémon in the same way you would catch a Pokémon after a raid.
You’ll receive a set number of Premier Balls for defeating Team GO Rocket with no fainted Pokémon and less if you lose some in battle, though that number can also be boosted with continuing success against Team GO Rocket.
How To Purify Shadow Pokmon In Pokmon Go
Now that you’ve rescued a Shadow Pokémon from Team Go Rocket, it’s time to purify it.
First, you’ll want to find your chosen Shadow Pokémon in your Pokémon storage. Shadow Pokémon have a purple flame next to their picture, like how Shiny Pokémon have a set of silver stars.
Once you’ve picked a Shadow Pokémon, you’ll discover that there is a new option available above ‘Power Up’ and ‘Evolve’ – Purify.
Purifying a Shadow Pokémon will cost a specific amount of Stardust and Candy depending on which Pokémon you want to Purify and how strong it is. A Squirtle, for example, will need 2,000 Stardust and 2 Squirtle Candy to be purified, while a Blastoise will require 5,000 Stardust and 5 Squirtle Candy.
Select ‘Purify’ and then ‘Yes’ on the confirmation window to watch a cutscene of your Pokémon being cleansed of the evil that has invaded its heart, leaving you with a newly purified Pokémon.
