What New Features Are In Pokmon Sun And Moon
Ride-On Pokémon — Pokémon Sun and Moon replaces Hidden Moves with ride-on Pokémon capable of helping you overcome obstacles. For example, instead of teaching an Onix “Strength” to help you knock down obstructing boulders, you’re gifted with a Tauros you can hop on and order to knock down obstacles. Similarly, you fly from place to place with a Charizard, swim between islands with a Lapras, and use a Mudsdale to walk across rocky areas.
Note that these Pokémon can’t fight with you; you can only summon them to help you with navigation. Regardless, not having to use a move slot on an HM changes up Pokémon Sun and Moon’s single-player campaign quite a bit.
Island Challenge Trials, Grand Trials, Totem Pokémon, and Kahunas — The people of Alola are outdoorsy and prefer island challenges to the Pokémon series’ traditional Gym battles. When you take an island challenge, the challenge’s captain asks you to perform a task, e.g. taking pictures of certain Pokémon or finding certain items.
When you finish, you go up against a Totem Pokémon. Totem Pokémon are large, powerful versions of traditional Pokémon, and they can summon allies into battle.
Once the Totem Pokémon is felled, you’re allowed to take on the Grand Trial, which has you fighting against the island’s Kahuna. When you win, you’re allowed to progress to the next island and the next set of trials.
Collect More Than 400 Types Of Pokemon
Pokémon Ultra Moon inherits several Pokemon that appeared from previous versions. Most of them come from Kanto. But there is also a lot of new Pokemon added in the beautiful tropical Alola region.
During your adventure around Alola, you can catch them while adventuring around steppe areas, caves, forests, or seas. Of course, you can also steal Pokemon from other trainers while weakening them in battle. This mechanism is quite familiar because it has appeared in most previous versions.

That is to reduce their health to a low level, then use Pokeball to proceed to capture. If they have a lot of health, the chances are high that you will fail. If they are not healthy anymore, you cannot take them, and they will have to go to the medical center in town for treatment.
Of course, your Pokemon will be too. You wont want your summoned beast to be drained from its full health in a fight. So, run away if you guess the end goes bad.

As is tradition in Pokémon games, there are differences between Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. They’re largely the same game, but there are still notable differences between the two:
Different wild Pokémon between the two versions — Some wild Pokémon can only be caught in Sun or Moon. Anyone who’s serious about filling out their PokeDex needs to trade between the two versions of the game. For instance, the monkey-like Passimian Pokémon can only be found in Pokémon Sun, whereas its counterpart, Oranguru can only be found in Pokémon Moon. Similarly, the games’ Legendary Pokémon are exclusive to their respective versions. The lion Pokémon Solgaleo is exclusive to Pokémon Sun, and the bat Pokémon Lunagala is exclusive to Pokémon Moon.
Night and day — The events of Pokémon Sun happen according to your Nintendo 3DS’s clock. The events in Pokémon Moon, however, are set twelve hours ahead of your Nintendo 3DS’s clock. So provided your clock is set properly, playing Pokémon Moon at 3 PM means the in-game events happen at 3 AM.
Different Totem fights — Some Totem Pokémon differ between Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Resetting or restarting a Pokemon Sun/Moon game is a no-brainer task with your 3DS console. However, please remember that Pokemon Sun and Moon allows only one active save file at a time; this means you cannot have two active games at a time, and you have to erase the current progress.

Also new to Pokémon Sun and Moon is a system called Pokémon Refresh. This lets you pamper and feed your pets, as you would as a responsible human being in the real world. Its a very Tamagotchi-like interface, which uses the touchscreen to let you clean up your creatures post-battle, or even heal status conditions like paralysis, sleep or a burn using just a wand, time and taps.
I actually love the inclusion of Refresh, because it means you can easily deal with status conditions out on the road when youre far from a Pokémon Center, without having to burn through healing items or spend money to stockpile the same. Refresh takes time, but its a lot easier than traipsing all the way back to a Center in most cases, especially early on the in the game when your transport options are few.
Refresh also helps you boost your Pokémon through better bonding, but its something you can also safely ignore if youd rather not spend the time. Its exactly the type of side feature that I welcome in these games: additive, without being overly time consuming but also ultimately optional.
