What Is The Rarest Pokemon Type What Is The Most Common Type
Ice type is technically the rarest type in the Pokemon series. Of the 898 Pokemon, just 51 are ice type.
That said, the type most common among legendary and mythical Pokemon is psychic. Though one might parse how to classify legendary Pokemon, there are more than a dozen psychic-type Pokemon that are story-critical like Solgaleo and Lunala, can only be encountered once during a save like Mewtwo and Azelf, or can only be obtained through promotions like Mew, Jirachi, and Victini. This list grows even further with different variants and unevolved Pokemon.
The most common Pokemon type by a significant margin is water, of which there are 144 as of Pokemon Sword and Shield. This makes up more than 16% of all Pokemon. The next most common is normal, with a total of 115 different normal-type Pokemon.
However, the most common typing is pure normal Pokemon followed by pure water at 69 and 68, respectively. That said, a case could also be made that pure water should also be recognized as the most common typing as there are three unique normal Pokemon who have the ability to change form in Arceus, Type: Null, and Silvally.
Pokmon Strength And Weakness Chart
The chart below will let you know which attacks to use and which to avoid based on Pokémon type.
For instance, a bug-type Pokémons bug attacks are super effective against grass-, dark-, and psychic-type Pokémon. However, bug-types take increased damage from any fire-, flying-, or rock-type moves.
Keep this chart handy whenever youre facing off against any trainers and especially during your Gym Challenges, as each of those trainers specializes in specific Pokémon.
As an example, the first major trainer you fight in Pokémon Sword and Shield is Milo, who specializes in grass-type Pokémon. Looking at the chart below, youll want to make sure that you have some Pokémon that can do bug-, fire-, flying-, ice-, or poison-type attacks in your roster. You may also want to take any ground-, rock-, or water-types out of that match sorry Sobble starters!
Knowing type match ups will be helpful in just about any battle, especially when youre trying to catch Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon.
Wash Rotom Is Weak To Grass Type Moves
Wash Rotom is a form of Rotom when it possesses a washing machine. Doing so makes Wash Rotom a Water and Electric type Pokémon. Chinchou and Lanturn are also Water and Electric types, but unlike Rotom, they are weak to Ground.
Rotom is immune to Ground type moves because it has the ability Levitate, which keeps its body floating in the air. This means that Wash Rotom is only weak to Grass type moves.

Every Pokmon Type Ranked From Lamest To Most Powerful
Nowadays, eighteen types dominate the Pokémon world. Here’s how the rank, from the weakest Pokémon types to the most powerful.
When Pokémon first premiered in 1996, the type-matchup chart looked a lot different. Generation II introduced the Dark and immensely useful Steel-type and nothing was ever the same. Fifteen years passed before a new addition came, with Fairy arriving to balance out the seemingly overpowered Dragon-type.

Nowadays, eighteen types dominate the Pokémon world. Some definitely rank higher, especially those with the coolest Pokémon on their ranks or the most resistances and immunities. Others are stuck at the bottom of the barrel, whether because of their frailty or lack of memorable mons. All of them create the perfect balance, though, providing color and variety to the 898 Pokémon species that currently exist.
Paras Is A Bug & Grass Type
A Paras has parasitic Tochukaso mushrooms which grow on its back. These mushrooms are praised for being medicine that can give the consumer a long life. Unfortunately, a Paras would not last long in a Pokémon battle, because it is weak to 6 types of Pokémon.
These include Flying, Poison, Rock, Bug, Fire, and Ice. Even if it were to evolve into Parasect, these weaknesses would remain the same, since evolution doesn’t change Paras’ type.

What The Most Resisted Pokmon Type Is
The Pokémon video games’ battle system is all about type matchups, and the two most resisted Pokémon move types are weak against many others.
Type matchups are integral to the Pokémon series’ battle system, so serious trainers need to carefully consider their partners’ types when building their teams of six. There are some types that are more durable than others, while the most resisted Pokémon types are weak against much of the competition.
In main-series Pokémon battles, if a move’s type is resisted by the type of the Pokémon it’s attacking, its damage is halved. Some Pokémon types also have immunities, which cause certain move types to deal no damage at all Psychic-type attacks have no effect on Dark-type Pokémon, for example.

The balancing of Pokémon‘s various types has likely never been an easy task for Game Freak. In Red and Blue, Psychic types ran amok because there wasn’t much around to counter them. The Dark and Steel types were added in Pokémon Gold and Silver for the sole purpose of checking Psychic. A similar change happened in Pokémon X and Y, when the Fairy type was introduced to add more counters to Dragon-type Pokémon. Today, the number of resistances and immunities for each Pokémon type isn’t even across the board, as there are some types that are more commonly resisted than others.
Heatran Is A Steel And Fire
Heatran’s body is made of steel, which is partially melted in some spots because of the heat generated by the magma-like blood in its body. It prefers to reside in volcanic caves, and its cross-shaped feet are capable of scaling ceilings and walls.
Heatran is resistant to Normal, Flying, Bug, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves. As a Steel-type, Heatran is completely immune to Poison-type moves.

What Counters Yamask In Pokemon Go
If youre familiar with the Pokemon Series, youre probably aware by now that certain type matchups interact in ways that will influence how much damage you take and can deal in battle, with attacks against a type weakness known as super effective! for example. Yamask is a pure Ghost-type Pokemon, which as mentioned above makes for a pretty strong typing.
To be specific, Yamask will resist attacks from Bug and Poison-types, as well as doubly resisting any Fighting and Normal-type attacks. Your counter choices against Yamask in Pokemon Go are limited to either other Ghost-types or Dark-types.
So which of these is better?
READ MORE: Weird Pokemon Evolution Methods 2: Electric Boogaloo
Well, the best way to determine that is often by judging a Pokemons moveset, and Yamask isnt an exception there.
The standard form of Yamask will make use of both a ghost and psychic-type fast attack, as well as employing two more ghost attacks and a Dark-type move in its list of charged attacks.
Ghost-types, Yamask included, are weak to Ghost and Dark-type attacks. This means that using Ghost-type Pokemon as a counter might not work so well, as theyll take super effective damage from Yamask, just like Yamask would take from them.
Dark-types on the other hand, will resist or completely ignore every single attack that Yamask can use, making them the easy winner.
Every Pokmon Has A Type
Every Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Shield has at least one of the 18 types in the game. Some Pokémon, like the Hootoot, even have two types. The entire list of types found in the game are as follows:
You can see what type a particular Pokémon is by looking in your Pokédex or your menu once you encountered the Pokémon in the game.
Even more importantly, every move in the game also has a type, so although you may have a Grass Pokémon like Grookey , you’ll notice that the moves it knows vary by type.
Certain attack types do more damage to certain types of Pokémon, while certain others will do less. There are even some attack types that won’t affect certain Pokémon types at all.

Mawile Is A Steel And Fairy
Introduced in Generation 3, Mawile is a Pokémon that lures unsuspecting foes in with its cute face, before biting them with its sharp jaws made of steel. Its teeth are actually horns, which are powerful enough to chew through iron beams.
This Pokémon is resistant to Normal, Flying, Bug, Rock, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dark, and Fairy-type moves. Mawile is immune to Poison and Dragon-type moves.
Pokmon Go Types Strengths And Weakness
Pokémon also has its own set of weaknesses and strengths. For example, bug-type Pokémon are weak against fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves. Bug-type moves are strong against dark-, grass-, and psychic-type moves. Fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves will do double damage against a bug-type, like Caterpie.
Some Pokémon have two types, which means they can have a doubled weakness or have their strength and weaknesses cancel out to just take normal damage. Rayquaza, a dragon- and flying-type, takes four times the damage from ice-type moves. On the flip side, Shuckle, a rock- and bug-type, takes normal damage from fire-type moves, since rock-type is strong against fire-type.
Strengths and weaknesses also arent necessarily just opposites of each other. Though fire-type move deal less damage to water-type Pokémon and water-type moves do doubled damage against fire-type Pokémon, this isnt the case with every type. For example, fighting-type moves are strong against normal-types, but normal-types just do regular damage against fighting-types, rather than do reduced damage.
Knowing what Pokémons strengths and weaknesses are is an important aspect of raiding and battling. To do the most damage you can, you should make sure that your Pokémons moves are strong against what its battling.
Memorizing all of that can get confusing, so heres a chart to help you out.

Onix Is A Rock & Ground Type
Although Onix looks like a giant, intimidating snake made out of a chain of rocks, it actually has many things that it is weak against. As a Rock and Ground Type, Onix is weak to 6 things: Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, Grass, and Ice.
Although Onix is able to burrow through the ground at 5o mph, it’s not quite as impressive in battle. If a trainer wanted to get rid of some of Onix’s weaknesses, it would be a good idea to evolve it into Steelix, which only has 4 weaknesses.
What Are The Weaknesses Of Rock Type Pokemon
Rock-type Pokémon stand out for their great defense to physical attacks, however, this type is tied with the Grass-type as having the most weaknesses, with five, and Pokémon of this type are not very fast. Also, some Rock-type moves dont have great accuracy. All Fossil Pokémon before Gen VIII are of this type.

Wormadam With Trash Cloak Is Weak To Fire Type Attacks
Wormadam is a Bug type Pokémon who gains a secondary type depending on what kind of cloak it has on. While Wormadam is in its Trash Cloak, it is a Bug and Steel type. This form is permanent, but compared to its Sandy Cloak, which has 4 weaknesses, and its Plant Cloak, which has 6 weaknesses, the Trash Cloak is superior.
In this form, Wormadam has only a single weakness to Fire types.
How This Affects Pokmon With Multiple Types
As I mentioned before, some Pokémon will have multiples types, and this table gets even more tricky to understand once you start looking at how interactions like that work. The good news is theres a pretty simple way to break it down.
All modifiers for damage by a particular attack are calculated together when it comes to dealing with Pokémon that have multiple types.
For example, if you use a Flying attack against a Pokémon with both Bug and Grass types, it would do four times as much damage, since Flying attacks usually do double damage to each type.
Following in the pattern, if you were to use a Ground attack against a Pokémon with both Bug and Grass types, it would do 1/4 of the damage, since ground attack normally would do 1/2 damage to each type.

Perfect Counter For Yveltal
While Yveltal is one of the stronger Legendaries in the meta, Tyranitar can not only take half damage from its STAB moves, but it can also strike back at Yveltals weaknesses with STAB moves of its own. Mixed with its 1.5x Special Defense boost during a sandstorm it can reduce that damage even further.
Tyranitar can also target the weaknesses of Shadow Rider Calyrex, Ho-Oh, and Lugia, making it a great choice against Legendary Pokemon.

Pokmon Type Effectiveness And Weakness Chart
Our type chart presents the 18 Pokémon types in attack and defence scenarios. To use it, simply find your Pokémons type to see what its attacks are strong and weak against, and what it is resistant and vulnerable to when defending.
- Types bolded in square brackets are subject to a further cut in effectiveness in the mainline games these are outright immunities
- If a type is not listed, damage is neutral
- The strength of an attack is increased if the attack type is strong against both types of a dual type Pokémon
- Type resistance and vulnerability effectively cancel each other out on dual type Pokémon
|Pokémon Type Chart|
Bug, Dark, , Fighting
Note that attack and defence type relationships are not identical e.g. types may be resistant to types when defending that they are not super effective against when attacking.
Remember, things get even more interesting when Pokémon of dual types crop up and you have to factor in additional strengths and weaknesses.

Alolan Muk Is Weak To Ground Type Attacks
When Muk is in the Alola region, it experiences some surprising changes. It’s body changes from purple to a rainbow hue that resembles the sheen in oil due to the hundreds of poisons in its body, but it also grows claws and teeth that are crystallized poison.
Most importantly, Muk changes from a Poison type to a Poison and Dark type of Pokémon. This combination makes Alolan Muk weak only to Ground types, and unlike Kanto’s Muk, the Alolan version is immune to Psychic moves.

What Is The Best Pokemon Typing
The best typing in Pokemon is likely dark-ghost dual types, with Sableye and Spiritomb falling into this category. The typing has just one weakness in fairy, and is immune to fighting, normal, and psychic attacks. Offsetting that very advantageous typing is the fact that Sableye has very low stats and Spiritomb has a limited arsenal of attacks.

Tips On How To Remember Pokmon Types
For anyone who has invested years of play into this series, the type system becomes second nature. While in time your memory too will retain most of, if not the full set of relationships it is worth learning the logical relationships that do exist.
The classic example taught at the beginning of every Pokémon game is that fire is super effective against grass, which is in turn super effective against water, which is in turn super effective against fire. This is easy enough to follow fire burns grass, grass thrives with water, water puts out fire but finding similar relationships in the other 18 types is will help you remember the system.
Here are some other ideas to get you started:
- Rocks effectiveness against flying is reminiscent of the phrase kill two birds with one stone
- Similarly, psychic is effective against fighting because brains are better than brawn but psychic is vulnerable to dark and ghost because the mind cannot cope with the unknown and supernatural
- Ground types are immune to electric attacks because being grounded is an important principle in electric circuits but ground can be swept away be water, cracked by ice and exploited by grass.
With the addition of new types over the years, the Pokémon type system has got a little more complicated than Rock-Paper-Scissors, but once you’ve committed the above to memory , you’ll have no problem finding the right Pokémon for the right job.
