Those concerned about breaking the combo should note that they can select Run from a wild encounter and still maintain their chain if they accidentally walk into a different creature and kickstart an unplanned battle. They can also battle other trainers without destroying the Catch Combo. In fact, after hitting 31 chained captures, players are free to walk around until a shiny Pokemon spawns. And, since they appear in the overworld as shinies, eager collectors will be adding these sparkly variants to their team in no time.
Players patient enough to hold off on shiny hunting until theyve completed the game can further increase the odds with an items called the Shiny Charm that can be obtained after theyve finished their Pokedex. Shinies are extremely rare, coloured differently to their regular counterparts, and sometimes have great stats. Encountering a shiny in previous Pokémon game installments was very rare. In Let’s Go, however, it’s possible to encounter and catch shinies fairly easily, and it’s a fun and challenging aspect of post-story gameplay.
My Shiny Gastly
Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are the only ghost-type Pokémon in the original 151. Gastly dwells in Lavender Town’s Pokémon Tower, where deceased Pokémon are laid to rest. You need the Silph Scope to catch Gastly and it’s recommended you finish the Lavender Town storyline quest first.

Shiny Hunting In Let Go Pikachu/eevee
General Information
LGPE are the first main series titles to make an appearance on the Nintendo Switch. Instead of encountering Pokémon in the grass, LGPE have the wild Pokémon running loose on the Overworld! Wild Pokémon spawn out of the grass/water or in the sky and will remain on the Overworld for roughly 20-25 seconds before despawning. Some lower-leveled common Pokémon will stay for about 1-2 minutes, but I wouldnt test your luck. LGPE does the shiny roll differently than the other games. Instead of rolling as you encounter a Pokémon, the game does the roll a few seconds before the Pokémon spawns.
If you get a shiny roll, the shiny will appear on the Overworld in their shiny colors and surrounded by a set of shiny sparkles. These sparkles are different from the red and blue auras that will surround large and small Pokémon that give you a catch bonus when captured. Please keep in mind that a Pokémon can be shiny and also have a size aura around it, thus hiding the sparkles a bit. Shiny Pokémon still have the same despawn time as every other Pokémon in the game. If youre not careful, you could lose yourself a shiny.
Getting Supplies Ready
This last part is completely optional. The Player 2 option in the game lets you play with someone else while catching Pokémon. If you both throw a Pokéball in sync, you have an increased catch rate. You can control both joycons yourself to catch Pokémon for that boost.

Restart Mewtwo Encounter Until Shiny
The trick to catching Shiny Mewtwo in Pokémon Lets GO involves a bit of save manipulation. Each time that players start the fight with Mewtwo but then quit the game and reload, the Mewtwo will spawn as a different version. This gives players the opportunity for that Mewtwo to turn into a Shiny version. Its important to note that players must trigger the fight for the Mewtwo to actually reveal whether it is shiny or not, which is indicated by a green stomach and tail .
Its by no means the most glamorous way to farm Shiny Mewtwo but its also the only known way to obtain the unique version of the already rare Pokémon.
Reports from Pokémon Lets GO players have put the chances of encountering a shiny Mewtwo at anywhere from 40 spawn resets to over 4,000. In other words, players should set this as one of the last Pokémon on their shiny hunt, unless they really have some time to kill. And unfortunately, players can’t rely on the shiny charm for help, since it requires a full Pokedex.
Before players nab a Shiny Mewtwo they can then set the Pokémons nature at the Fortune Teller. By picking a combination of flower colors, the Fortune Teller will change the nature of any caught Pokémon, including Shiny Mewtwo, to better match what the player is looking for. All they need is 10,000 Pokémon dollars.

Look For A Special Glimmer
In the upcoming Pokémon: Lets Go, Pikachu! and Lets Go, Eeevee!, youll see wild Pokémon roaming around the map instead of hidden away in random encounters. I hadnt really thought about it until now, but this approach has implications for shiny hunters. Heres a bit of info on how itll work.
As reported by Dot Esports, shiny Pokémon will look like their normal selves when theyre on the map, but theres one small tell: theyll have a small glimmer with star-like particles, according to the site. This was inadvertently discovered at a recent press event in London. Talk about serendipitous!
Excluding a certain Gyarados that we all have in Pokémon Gold and Silver, I feel like Ive caught a whopping two shiny Pokémon across the entire series. Maybe Ill fare better in Lets Go, Pikachu.

Building Catch Combos To Boost Shiny Encounter Rates
Catch combos are a new feature in Pokemon Lets Go that reward you for monotonously catching the same Pokemon over and over again. For instance, if you catch 10 lovely Magikarps in a row, youll have a 10 Magikarp combo. The good thing about this is that catch combos actually serve a purpose. We’ve got a full page all about catch combos and how they work.
The odds of encountering a shiny increase at combos of 11x, 21x, and 31x, with the last one increasing the odds of encountering a shiny to roughly 1 in 273 if used with the methods mentioned above. Lots of people are going for catch combos of 150+, but thats a bit pointless, really, because the odds increase caps at 31x.
I could send you on your way now that you have the information required for maximum shiny odds, but Im going to provide an example I used last night that netted me two shinies within four minutes of achieving max odds. Any combo works for all Pokemon. What I mean is, if youre on a 31x catch combo of Pidgeys, you still have a 1 in 273 chance of encountering a shiny Dragonite. With that in mind, dont waste a million Ultra Balls on things that are hard to catch.
Combos only reset if the Pokemon runs away, you catch a different Pokemon, or you turn the game off . Running into other Pokemon is fine once you dont catch them and you can leave the map as often as you like. Trainer battles also have no impact on the combo, so battle to your hearts content.
What Are Shiny Pokmon
Shiny Pokémon are Pokémon that have a slightly different coloration than normal Pokémon. For example, a Ponyta with a blue mane instead of a red one. Sometimes shiny Pokémon only differ slightly from their normal counterparts. Other times, they are extremely different. Every Pokémon has a normal coloration and one shiny coloration that can be found rarely. These Pokémon will also have a “sparkle” animation go off whenever they appear in battle to indicate their shiny status.
Other than their color, shiny Pokémon do not differ in any way from normal Pokémon. They are not guaranteed to have better stats or be stronger, and there is nothing unique about their movesets. They’re just rare, pretty Pokémon that are a pleasant surprise to encounter!

Don’t Forget To Keep Saving
Because of the amount of things that can break your combo, it’s worth saving your game every five or so catches, to ensure that you don’t lose your entire progress if anything goes wrong. And yes, I am speaking from experience

As for how you can go about catching Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee, theres only one known method, and even then it doesnt work every time. The only known way of obtaining Shiny Pokemon is to maintain a massive catch combo streak.
A catch combo streak is where you catch the same Pokemon, multiple times in a row, without accidentally catching a different Pokemon, or letting a Pokemon run away. Building a catch combo in Pokemon Lets Go is simple: all you need to do is catch multiples of the same Pokemon in a row. Every time you do, youll build a up your combo, giving you a variety of boosts and bonuses that help you throughout your Kanto journey.
Thanks to Reddit detectives, we know that the benefits from catch combos are capped at a streak of 31, as well as a lot of the specific stats behind what you can get from combos.
Its also worth noting that the bonuses that you get for running up a streak only apply to the next Pokemon that would continue that streak you cant transfer to another type of Pokemon. For instance, if youre trying to catch a perfectly IVd Kangaskhan, you cant catch 31 Venonat and apply that combos bonuses to the next Kangaskhan you see.
Catch Combo exp bonuses
The most obvious plus point for building a catch combo is the bonus exp that you gain for each Pokemon caught. This can make catch combos an effective method for grinding experience points for weaker team members to level them up quickly. Youre not going to be able to consistently catch new Pokemon to get that exp bonus, but you will be able to keep a catch combo going quite easily.
Combine this boost with the Technique Bonus you get from catching Pokemon using the Joy-Con controls while your Switch is docked for even better results.
