How To Battle In Pokmon Go: Pvp Battles

WHAT ARE THE BEST IVs FOR GO BATTLE LEAGUE | POKEMON GO PVP

Pokémon Go allows Trainers to participate in PvP battles to gain more experience points, Stardust and Rare Candy. One thing to note, however, is that only players of level 10 or above can participate in such battles. Battling much like trading, participating in raids, and exchanging gifts with your in-game friends increases your friendship level.

In order to battle over distance, both of you need to be Best or Ultra Friends, . You can get there in no time by giving each other gifts, and participating in raids and local PvP battles, as well as by trading Pokémon with each other.

To exchange gifts, you can collect special gifts that you can receive at any Pokéstop. These gifts cannot be used for anything other than sending to your friends. To give your added friend a gift, simply tap your avatar, select the “Friends” tab, pick a friend and tap “Send Gift.” Giving gifts also builds up your Trainer level.

Once youve reached level 10 or above, you can battle against players in two ways:

Are There Better Quick Attacks In Pvp

It is important to know two characteristics that attacks must have in order to be considered as the best fast attack in pvp mode:

  • The first one is ‘Damage per turn’ or damage per turn in Spanish. This is understood as the damage that a Pokémon is capable of applying to another in a turn.
  • The second is ´Energy per turn´ or the energy that is capable of being generated in a turn.
  • Attacks will generate different amounts of DPT and EPT, but the best attack will be the one with high both DPT and EPT. In general, the EPT is more important since it is convenient that the energy is charged more quickly to be able to perform fast attacks charged more effective.
  • Then, when a Pokémon has a charged attack, this attack will have to be pressed and the fast attack will be released. Once done, you must touch the screen quickly for three seconds for it to do the more damage.
  • El best attack charged is the one with the highest amount of Power and low energy. The latter can range from 35 to 100.

Why Does This Matter

If youve made this far, Im very appreciative. Youre probably wondering if you should care, how much this matters, and what you should do about it. The truth is, a decent amount of the time it wont matter, but when it does, the difference in IVs can be game deciding! In themed cups, where mirrors are more likely, IVs can turn a dead even matchup into a winning one. Lets imagine that the two Skarmory from above were to face each other with one shield each. All other things being equal unless Player A messes up, Skarmory A will outright beat Skarmory B. Now Skarmory wont have much health left and will get knocked out quickly by Player Bs next Pokemon, but this gives Player A a big counterpick advantage that will often be enough to win the whole battle. Imagine gaining such a big advantage just by having better IVs! Another example is Golbat vs Venomoth, a common and mostly even matchup from Twilight cup that could often be decided by which side had better IVs.

Even outside of these specific matchups, having more stats and living longer can make a huge difference. For strong but fragile Pokemon or Pokemon with slow Fast attacks, getting off one more Fast move can often be the difference. Similarly, living long enough to get off one last Charge move, either taking a chunk off your opponents HP or forcing them to use a shield, can be a battle deciding tactical advantage.

What About Types In Pokmon Go

It’s also important to keep in mind types! While some Pokémon only have one type, most have two and all Pokémon can learn moves from multiple types. Although most Pokémon have a single moveset that is the best for their whole species, there are some Pokémon who have multiple sets. Take Chandelure, for example Chandelure is a Fire and Ghost type and can be one of the best of either. If you’re using your Chandelure as a Fire type, you’ll want it to know Fire Spin and Overheat, but if you’re going for Ghost type, you’ll want Hex and Shadow Ball.

The Best Performances Of Pokmon In Combat Are Determined By Three Simple Things:

  • The type of Pokémon – this affects the Same Type Attack Bonus of its own attacks and its defense coverage .

  • Pokémon’s current statistics – not to be confused with basic statistics or CP . The most important statistics are the current attack, defense, and stamina of the fighting Pokémon, as determined by its current level and the IVs .

  • The Pokémon’s moves – both their offensive coverage and their actual DPS. In other words: You want the Pokémon with the highest possible total attack, defense, and stamina a Pokémon with good typing for defensive coverage and useful STAB and a Pokémon with strong moves that provide good offensive coverage against a variety of enemy types.

Swampert Has Massive Attacking Power

Swampert is a Water/Ground-Type Pokemon. At Level 50, its Max CP clocks in at 3,362, its Attack at 208, Defense at 175, and Stamina at 225. Swampert evolves from Marshtomp with 100 Candy, which evolves from Mudkip with 25 Candy. Swampert’s best Quick move is Mud Shot , while its best Charge moves are Hydro Cannon , Earthquake , and Sludge Wave .

Though it struggles against Grass-type Pokemon, Swampert is a serious threat in the Great League as its moves are phenomenal. Swampert offers great coverage and capitalizes on this due to killer attacking power. If the trainer has Shadow Swampert instead of regular Swampert, that works too!

Battles In The Pokmon Go Battle League

FULL *PVP FOR NOOBS* GUIDE in POKEMON GO | FAST/CHARGE MOVES, TURNS, SHEILDS & SWITCHING EXPLAINED!

Battles within the Go Battle League are set up the same way as Trainer Battles and Team Leader Training Battles. You select three Pokémon and will be matched up with another Trainer at random. The Battle begins with your first Pokémon against your opponent’s first Pokémon, and until a Pokémon is sent out, neither Trainer knows what the other has brought with them. If you’re lucky, the Pokémon you’ve chosen will have a Type advantage, or at least not be weak against the other Trainer’s choice. There are definitely some Pokémon better suited for these Battles than others, but there isn’t a single Pokémon that cannot be countered, so there’s a fair bit of luck involved in winning these matches.

To learn more about which Pokémon you should focus on for the Pokémon Go Battle League, see our Pokémon Go Battle League Prep Guide.

Like other Battles within Pokémon Go, you’ll mostly be using your Fast Move until you’ve built up your Charged Move, which will involve hitting several bubbles on the screen to determine how strong it hits. Each Trainer will have two Shields they can deploy against any Charged Move, but dodging isn’t really an option like it is in Raids. Whichever Trainer’s Pokémon faint first loses. The winner will move up in Rank, as well as get an increase to their Matchmaking Rating. The loser won’t lose Rank, but in higher Ranks, you can lose points in your Rating.

How Pvp Battles Work In Pokmon Go

PvP battles are quite different from the gym and raid battles you’ve experienced so far in Pokémon GO. You pick three Pokémon, rather than the traditional six, and you can swap between them mid-battle at any point.

Battles remain rooted in real time though, which is good news, and you still hammer the screen to attack, unleashing your charge move when it’s, erm, charged. Speaking of charge moves, you now have two of them, opening up a lot more options in attack.

You have to unlock this second charge move on a Pokémon, when it will be selected from the pool of available moves. It costs Candy to do so, but not a lot. This feature will eventually roll out to gym and raid battles, too.

However, the big new change is Protect Shields, which you can deploy at any moment to temporarily defend against the most powerful Pokémon or attacks. You only have a limited number of these though, so you can’t just spam them and walk away with a victory.

PvP battles take place in a variety of different leagues too, including the Great, Ultra, and Master leagues. Aside from the Master, each league has a CP cap so you can’t just use your most powerful Pokémon and wipe the floor with everyone. Instead, you have to be smart and pick a Pokémon that you think will dominate the league with that CP cap in mind.

Pokmon Go: The Best Pokmon For Pvp Battles

PvP Battles are an entirely different monster in Pokemon Go. This guide will show players the best Pokemon to bring for PvP Battles in each league.

PvP battles can be intimidating to get into with Pokemon Go. This guide will show players the best Pokemon to bring along for these battles. Similar to fighting a Team Rocket Grunt or one of the Gym Leaders, players must use their Pokemon to battle against another player. In this 3v3 Pokemon battle, players will use their best Pokemon against another player, perfectly time their special moves, and use their shields at the best time. Since Pokemon Go is a numbers game, Pokemon with better stats and abilities will perform better in battle. This guide will show players the best Pokemon they can bring along to each of the leagues.

For PvP battles in Pokémon Go, trainers are limited to using specific Pokémon depending on the league they are battling. For example, in the Great League, the game only allows Pokémon with 1500 CP or less. Similarly, for the Ultra League, trainers will not be able to bring Pokémon that have more than 2500 CP. Since the Pokémon Go meta keeps evolving due to new attacks and Pokémon being introduced to the game, trainers want to know which team to use during PvP battles.

Remember What Pokmon Are In The Battle

Its surprisingly easy to go into a match and forget what 3 Pokémon you brought. In the heat of battle, where a single switch can totally change the way that a game plays out, youve gotta remember which Pokémon you have available. Similarly, you have to remember what Pokémon your opponent brought and have switched out, or how much energy your opponents Pokémon may have.

These are by no means the best Pokemon to go with these are simply strong type coverage Pokemon. Keep that in mind. Further details will be discussed under each Pokemon. Lets do this!

How Do I Get Good

Once youve got your team and have found a tournament, there are a few things you will want to focus on to really take your battling to the next level. At the higher levels of Pokémon Go PVP, games are just as much about strategy and mind games as they are about knowing type weaknesses. A few areas to focus on include:

  • Energy Management Knowing how much you can store before you need to use your charge move can help you to take your opponent by surprise with a barrage of powerful attacks.
  • Shield Usage Can you handle a charge move from your opponent without shielding? Do you know when to let a Pokémon faint against your first instincts in order to save a shield for later in the game? These decisions can change the tides of battle!
  • Safe Switches Do you have a Pokémon that can really take a beating without any dangerous weaknesses? Knowing your opponent will be able to swap in against you, it is often important to have something that wont immediately be defeated.
  • Homework! Read up on the developing meta and know what Pokémon youre likely to see in battle. Read about their movesets and typing, and build your team to do well against them. The more knowledge you have about what you face, the harder it will be to take you by surprise!

Many of these will be covered in-depth in the Advanced Battle Techniques article, so once you feel comfortable with the information here, give it a read to learn some top-level tactics!
