Why Did They Change The Voice Of Ash

Veronica Taylor – Voice of Ash Ketchum on Pokemon

Veronica Taylor, the original voice for Ash Ketchum, was replaced by Sarah Natochenny. The reason why the new dubbing company did not use the original voice actors was due to expenses thanks to waning popularity of Pokémon at the time. TAJ Productions went out of business in 2008, and replaced by DuArt Film & Video.

Video: Ash Ketchum Voice Actress Explains The Process Of Pokmon Anime Dubbing

In a new video from Vanity Fair, voice actress Sarah Natochenny talks us through the process of dubbing the Pokémon anime.

If you’re a fan of the show, or even if you’re just mildly interested in anime or film at all, the video’s a pretty fascinating watch. Natochenny provides the voice for lead character Ash Ketchum in the English-language adaptation of the show, and has done since way back in 2006. Above, we get to see her working on a scene from the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime arc while learning about how everything’s put together.

As well as the acting itself, the video touches upon how the show and its dialogue are reinterpreted for western culture, the fine-tuning and digital editing that takes place in the studio, and on-the-fly script alteration.

If you’re left wanting to watch some of the anime yourself, you can find some episodes available for free on Pokémon’s official site, and you’ll also find a few of the latest films available to watch on Netflix.

Interesting stuff!

Current Theories And Possibilities

Other theories view the Japanese language as an early formed through inputs from at least two distinct language groups or as a distinct language of its own that has absorbed various aspects from neighbouring languages.

For now, Japanese is classified as a member of the Japonic languages or as a with no known living relatives if Ryukyuan is counted as dialects.

Ash Ketchum Voice Actor Teases She’s Available For Pokmon Live

Veronica Taylor provided the English voice for Ash in the Pokémon anime she now wants to get involved with Netflix’s live-action take on the series.

Classic Pokémon voice actress Veronica Taylor, who voiced the English dubbing for Ash Ketchum in the early seasons of the Pokémon anime, says she’s available for the upcoming live-action Pokémon show. The show was revealed in the works at Netflix, with Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson attached as writer and executive producer. While details of the plot and cast are still unknown, the show is said to be in the style of 2019’s Detective Pikachu movie.

The Pokémon anime first began airing in 1997, one year after the initial release of the Pocket Monsters: Red and Green video games in Japan. The story follows a young Pokémon trainer named Ash Ketchum as he traverses different regions to become a “Pokémon Master.” The game and anime were both met with massive success, spawning international localizations in regions across the globe, including an English dub for the anime. For English-speaking audiences, Veronica Taylor’s husky-voiced portrayal of Ash is arguably as iconic as the franchise’s electric rodent mascot, Pikachu.

How Many Pokmon Has Ash Caught

With 23 seasons covering eight regions, Ash has had plenty of opportunities to expand his collection of Pokémon. Along with his main companion, Pikachu, Ash currently owns 46 different Pokémon. However, that number does not take into account those Pokémon that went through multiple evolutions and the fact Ash owns 30 Tauroses.

There are also those Pokémon that Ash released or traded, including Lapras, Goodra, and Aipom. Therefore, taking all of those factors into account, Ash’s total Pokémon count comes in at 128, even if he has never owned anywhere near that many at the same time. There is also Rotom Phone, but that is its own thing.

Pokemon: Ash’s Voice Actress Says The Gig Is A Challenge These Days

Pokemon Journeys is currently telling the story of Ash Ketchum following his victory in the Alola League Tournament, and with the series coming to Netflix in North America, so to did we see the return of Ash’s voice actress, Sarah Natochenny, who recently took to social media to talk about how it can be a challenge to bring everyone’s’ favorite trainer to life! Having taken on the role of Ash since 2006, Natochenny went into detail about how tough it can be to be a voice actor during the coronavirus pandemic that has many people around the world feeling isolated.

Currently, Ash has been joined by another trainer Goh on his journey to become one of the greatest trainers in the world, with the pair attempting to take down the trainers of the Galar Region that were first introduced in the Nintendo Switch exclusive, Pokemon Sword And Shield. Before Natochenny lending her acting talents to Ash, the character was brought to life in the English version thanks to Veronica Taylor, who has portrayed the protagonist for the first eight seasons. With Ash showing no signs of leaving the driver’s seat for the anime’s main series, we expect that Sarah will be voicing the trainer for quite some time to come.

Sarah Natochenny shared her take on the loneliness of being a voice actor during this unique time in history, noting that the most joy that she currently gets is from seeing the happy comments that she receives from fans for portraying Ash for fifteen years:

Ash wears a blue vest with yellow outlines, a white undershirt with short sleeves and a red stripe, indigo shorts with black outlines, and black sneakers with blue highlights. He also wears a red cap with a black Poké Ball design formed into the letter C. During his second visit to Galar, he wears a Dynamax Band on his right wrist which he obtains from Leon. Also, Ash sometimes returns to wearing his Z-Power Ring on his left wrist whenever he is battling in an important match, especially World Coordination Series battles.

Ash’s sided spike hair has increased a bit and are sharper like they were before, his eyebrows and his spike hair tuft is larger than usually seen in previously. When he is not wearing his hat, his hair remains the same, only smoother and shorter. Ash’s two lighting bolt-like markings still remain slightly bigger like they were in the sun and moon series. His eyes are a bit wider than they were before.

Ash Ketchum’s English Actor Congratulates The Pokemon Star On Big League Victory

THE ORIGINAL VOICE ACTOR OF ASH KETCHUM Opens Pokemon Cards!

Today, the Internet is celebrating something many believed was impossible. The latest episode of Pokemon Sun and Moon went live, and it was there fans learned the results of the Alolan League. At long last, Ash Ketchum has become a Champion thanks to his win at the event, and he’s gotten a rather important congratulations from a friend.

Over on Twitter, it was Veronica Taylor who sent out their well wishes to Ash following his win. The actress, who famously did the English voice of Ash, decided to record a video of the hero’s younger self wishing him the best after becoming a Champion.

“Congratulations to Ash Ketchum on winning the Pokemon League from Ash’s ‘younger’ self, circa 1998…yup, hard work, determination, good friends, and a bit of luck pay off,” Taylor captioned the image.

As you can see above, the video is equal parts cute and unsettling. It seems to be created using camera tech capable of making dolls talk. Taylor used an old-school Ash action figure to deliver the message, and the voice will be a shot of nostalgia to Pokemon fans.

“I always knew you could do it, but really I didn’t I always knew to achieve your goals was to train hard,” Ash tells his older self.

Pokemon’s Ash Voice Actor Hilariously Trolls Fans

While Ash Ketchum has done some questionable things in the past two decades of the “Pokemon” anime series, he ultimately has a good heart. So it also makes a lot of sense that the iconic Pokemon trainer’s voice actor also likes to cut up at times. Sarah Natochenny, who has been voicing Ash since 2006, went undercover at New York Comic Con last weekend to troll fans, taking pictures and video with all the Ash cosplayers without tipping people off to her identity.

Natochenny finally revealed her prank on TikTok, and the video quickly went viral. There are several cosplayers featured in her video, and Natochenny only told one of them who she was.

In true Ash Ketchum style, Natochenny’s video showed her literally running everywhere around the con looking for more Ash Ketchums, explaining to the camera that she had to “find ’em all.” While Ash only defeated a surprisingly small amount of gym leaders throughout the series, Natochenny found a surprisingly large amount of Ash cosplayers.

There was a wide variety of Ash Ketchum cosplayers at the con, with one of the most interesting having a full-on horror theme. In a look that mashed up “Pokemon” with “Evil Dead,” both Pikachu and Ash sported a chainsaw in one cosplayer’s take on the character.

Who Is Ash’s Father

Over the decades, fans have endlessly speculated about the identity of Ash’s father. All that is known is that the protagonist’s parent headed out on his own Pokémon adventure after Ash was born. Although it is not really focused on a lot, one of the reasons Ash set out on his journey was to follow in his father’s footsteps and, perhaps, even meet him in a battle.

Delia, Ash’s mother, is basically a single parent. The anime has yet to reveal the identity of Ash’s father, although it has confirmed that he is a Trainer. Some have theorized that maybe Professor Oak is Ash’s dad, while others have proposed that Ash has a stranger family line.

The Mirror speaks to voice actor and poké-fan Veronica Taylor ahead of Pokémons 25th anniversary

It may be hard to believe, but Pokémon turns 25 years this week.

Arguably one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, Pokémon has created an international fanbase spanning multiple generations of gamers.

Since first being launched in Japan in 1996 and in the UK in 1999, the original Pokémon games Red, Blue , and later Yellow were the jumping-off point for a multimedia franchise that became the undisputed talk of playgrounds across the country.

But for one Poké-fan, Veronica Taylor, who also voiced the English dub of Ash Ketchum in the original animated series, the arrival of Pokémon changed the way many children, and later adults would spend their leisure time.

For me, Pokémon is more than the show and the games and all of the things you can buy. It’s the fabric of our culture now, she tells the Mirror.

So many people have grown up with it and it was such a part of their time at school and the time they had at home – they would go out and play Pokémon, they would collect the cards and talk about them with their friends, play the games with their friends.

All of that, it’s just a part of who they are.

In fact, by the turn of the 21st Century, no corner of the world was immune from what became a cultural phenomenon that captured the imaginations of millions of children.

Five Actors Who Should Play Ash Ketchum In A Live Action Pokemon Movie

Pokemon fans all know that Ash Ketchum is the main protagonist in the anime series. We see him appear on a variety of branded merchandise items as the star and the unforgettable figure of the Nintendo owned franchise. Sure, hes a fictional character, but fans are ready for a live-action show featuring the character. The Japanese version of Ashs character is voiced by Rica Matsumoto, but what if there were a live-action film about him? We agree with Pokemon fans that it would likely be a big success at the box office if well-written and the casting crew chose the right actor for the job. Here are our five top picks for the role.

Has Ash Won A Pokmon League

Pokemon but I play like Ash Ketchum!

Ash has proven more than apt at defeating Gym Leaders, but the experienced Trainer tends to struggle when it comes to the Pokémon Leagues. For a long time, it seemed the anime was reluctant to allow Ash to win one of these conferences out of fear the series would have nowhere left to go.

Now, Ash did win the Orange League, but that was not based on the games and only required beating one opponent after the four main Gym Leaders. After falling short at the last hurdle in Kalos’s Lumiose Conference, a Pokémon League Ash should have won, the anime would finally crown its protagonist as the Champion in Alola.

How Old Is Ash Ketchum In The Anime

Ash Ketchum is the protagonist of the Pokemon anime, whose goal is to be the greatest Pokemon Master of all time. When the show began back in 1997, Ash started on his journey throughout the Pokemon world at the age of ten, and several years later, he is still ten-years-old. There have been many fan theories as to why hes perpetually ten.

Pokmon The Series: Xy And Xyz

In the XY and XYZ, Ash wore a blue collared shirt with short sleeves and white trim, a black undershirt, darker blue jeans, a red and white hat, and red high top sneakers. Ash also wore the same fingerless gloves he wore in the Best Wishes series.

Ash’s body looks the same only that he has tufts of hair on each side of his head that covers the top of his ears. Also his Jolt – like marking underneath his eyes are smaller than usual.

How Old Was Ash When He Set Out On His Adventure

At the beginning of the anime’s run, Ash is stated to be 10 years old, and he is not unusually young for a Trainer. In this universe, it is not uncommon for children to set out on grand adventures that involve catching wild creatures that can breathe fire or hypnotize people. Misty is also around Ash’s age.

Ash’s current age is harder to deduce. The anime has generally avoided addressing the protagonist’s suspended maturity, while different seasons have altered Ash’s design to make him seem older or even younger than when he originally started.
