Using Catch Combos For Shiny Pokemon In Pokemon Lets Go Eevee And Pikachu
- Catch Combo 1-10: 0 Perfect IVs and a 1/4,096 shiny chance
- Catch Combo 11-20: 2 Perfect IVs and a 1/1024 shiny chance
- Catch Combo 21-30: 3 Perfect IVs and a 1/512 shiny chance
- Catch Combo 31+: 4 Perfect IVs and 1/341.3 shiny chance
Those concerned about breaking the combo should note that they can select Run from a wild encounter and still maintain their chain if they accidentally walk into a different creature and kickstart an unplanned battle. They can also battle other trainers without destroying the Catch Combo. In fact, after hitting 31 chained captures, players are free to walk around until a shiny Pokemon spawns. And, since they appear in the overworld as shinies, eager collectors will be adding these sparkly variants to their team in no time.
Players patient enough to hold off on shiny hunting until theyve completed the game can further increase the odds with an items called the Shiny Charm that can be obtained after theyve finished their Pokedex. Additionally, the odds can be heightened even more if trainers use a Lure, which only raises the chances for a shiny for anyone following the Catch Combo guidelines to 1/315.08.
Of course, if a user has a Catch Combo of 31, is using a lure, and has the Shiny Charm then the odds of finding a shiny Pokemon becomes 1 in 273.07. Understandably, thats considerably better than 1 in 4,096, so this is an important tip for Pokemon Lets Go players. Now, go on and catch em all again.

Shiny Pokemon are incredibly hard to come by in Pokemon games, and they always have been. There are very few solid methods to obtaining a Shiny Pokemon, and even then your odds are slim. In this Pokemon Let’s Go Shiny Pokemon guide, we’ll be walking you through how to find Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Let’s Go.
Pokmon Go Shiny Pokmon
Shiny Pokémon are special versions of a Pokémon with a different coloration. Unlike the main series games, shinies in Pokémon GO are much more common – the standard rate is believed to be around 1 in 500 . Many Pokémon have an even higher shiny rate: some
perma-boosted Pokémon are around a 1/60 chance most legendaries in raids are around 1/20 chance and on Community Days, where one Pokémon appears everywhere in the wild, the shiny rate is around 1/25.
However, in Pokémon GO not every Pokémon can be shiny. When the game first launched no shinies were available. Over time, more and more Pokémon have become shiny-eligible. In most cases only the base form may be shiny in the wild – for example a Ratatta found in the wild could be shiny, but its evolution Raticate cannot. Sometimes those higher evos can be shiny in special raid events , and since the introduction of Mega Evolutions any Pokémon whose Mega has been released can be shiny, like Blastoise or Beedrill.
Below we display every shiny Pokémon sprite that is in Pokémon GO. You can compare with the Pokémon’s non-shiny sprite by tapping or hovering your mouse over it. Pokémon marked with a star* next to the name have had their shiny released. In total there are 529 shiny Pokémon available in the game.

Pokemon Lets Go Shiny Guide
You may have entire teams of Level 100, max IV monsters in Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee, but are they shiny? If not, why not?
Shiny Pokemon are just like their regular counterparts except theyre, well, shiny. Rather than taking on a metallic glint, these special Pokemon are color-swapped. For instance, a shiny Cubone is green. Green isnt exactly shiny, but green Cubone is still shiny Cubone. These creatures are rarer – and so far more coveted.
Anyway, Pokemon Lets Go has completely reinvented shiny hunting because the game actually addresses it as a thing. The Shiny Charm that the Game Director in Celadon City gives you after you complete the Pokedex attests to this – it is designed to increase your chances of encountering a shiny Pokemon in the wild.
While shinies have always been available, Nintendo has finally decided to come out and say, Heres a thing for you shiny hunters. However, the Shiny Charm isnt the only thing you can use to better your chances of encountering shinies.
Here are some of the best techniques for catching shinies in Pokemon Lets Go:

Tips On Catching A Shiny Gastly
Before heading for the Pokémon Tower, be sure to stock up on balls. Gastly is pretty easy to catch with Great Balls, but get some Ultra Balls, too. Lures are also useful for making more Pokémon appear, but they’re not essential.
Head to Lavender Town after you’ve obtained the Silph Scope. There are several floors in the Pokémon Tower the second-highest is the best for finding Gastly.
Start getting combos by catching as many Gastlys as possible. Here are some tips:
- Catch them fast so they don’t run away. If a Pokémon runs, you lose your combo and have to start all over again.
- Run from any other Pokémon you run into .
- Throw Razz Berries to make them easier to catch.
- When your combo is high, start using Ultra Ballsthe higher the combo, the more annoying it is when a Pokémon runs!

The higher the Catch Combo the better chance you will encounter pokemon with higher IV Stats and even Rare Pokemon.

Catch Combos Heighten Your Chances Of Encountering A Shiny Pokemon
If you catch the same species of Pokemon in a row, you’ll start racking up a catch combo. The higher your catch combo, the more likely you are to see a shiny of the same species spawn on the map. Keep it going by making sure that you don’t catch anything else, and ensuring that your intended target doesn’t flee, because unfortunately – despite the fact that often these things are out of our control – that will also break your combo.
It is looking very likely that the shiny catch combo is locked at 31. Without any kind of catch combo, it seems that you have a 1:4900 chance of catching a shiny, but if you get anything above a maximum catch combo of 31, that chance goes up to 3.9/4900, which still isn’t great, but better odds than before. But what it does mean is that 31 catch combo is the maximum, so you could catch 500 or 31 and it would still offer the same chance of catching a shiny.
That means that racking up combos doesn’t guarantee a shiny appearing, it just increases your odds. This is coming from someone who spent an entire evening trying to get a shiny Zubat and got to 307 catch combo before throwing in the towel.
How Many Do I Need In My Combo Chain
Officially, you have hit the highest chance of finding a shiny after a chain of 31 of any Pokémon . However, Gastlys are easy to find catching many of them will make it easier to snag the shiny and also reward you with Gastly Candies.
I recommend you catch at least 100 and then run into/run away from any non-shiny Gastlys you encounter from then on. Dont just let them wander and then disappear, because the same one might come back.
When you see a shiny, RUN TO IT! They dont hang around forever! Again, the second-highest floor is a decent place to do this because its easier to see them and run into them before they disappear.
Its recommended you use an Ultra Ball to get your shiny. If you like, you can use a Razz Berry, but its not necessary.
Hunting a shiny can take hours and hours, but its so rewarding when you find one! Having a Gengar on your team is great, and it makes it all the more special when its a rare one! Follow these steps and youll be the proud owner of a shiny Gastly in no time.

Using The Shiny Charm In Pokemon Let’s Go
After you complete your Pokedex you can visit the Game Director in Celadon City. Theres a man with a buff Poliwrath standing outside the building youre looking for. Head in and youll find a floor with the in-game Game Freak team. The Director is wearing casual clothes because hes a proper dude.
Chat to him and hell commend you for catching em all. Hell give you a neat certificate and the Shiny Charm, which you never have to do anything with. Just keep it in your bag and it will work on its own, increasing the odds of encountering a shiny from 1 in 4,096 to 1 in 1,365. Dont sell it or its gone. Selling it would be very silly. I was only checking to see how much it was worth, alright?

Don’t Forget To Keep Saving
Because of the amount of things that can break your combo, it’s worth saving your game every five or so catches, to ensure that you don’t lose your entire progress if anything goes wrong. And yes, I am speaking from experience
With all of that you should be armed with enough knowledge to bag a shiny. What I can’t give you though is all the patience that you’ll need for that shiny to spawn. Good luck trainers!

How To Catch Shiny Pokemon
Shiny pokemon are found roaming the games world, but theyre extremely rare. According to some datamined info from the folks at Serebii.net, the base chance of a shiny spawning is around 1 in 4000. There are several ways to increase your chances, though, the first of which is using lures. At the base level, theyll double your chances to 1 in 2000. The same goes for a shiny charm, which increases it even more, to 1 in 1300. Using both will give you a 1 in 1000 chance of a shiny pokemon spawning. Thats still slim, but a lot better than without the boosters.
However, the best way to increase your odds is by creating a chain combo. For starters, you need to select the pokemon youd like to get a shiny version of. Then go and hunt it in the wild, until youve managed to build up a chain of at least 31 catches. You need to be careful, as the chain can be broken easily. You can run away, but dont let the pokemon run away. Dont catch other kinds of pokemon although you can run away from them if they jump you. Finally, you shouldnt turn off your console or save the game while youre trying to build up a chain, as this will break it.
Once youve built up a chain of 31+ catch, your chances of spawning a shiny pokemon will have increased to 1 in 340. Still a lot, but quite manageable. If you combine it with a lure and shiny charm, youll have around 1 in 270, which is the highest itll get.

Shiny Pokemon Appear On The Map But Not In Your Box
Now, I’ve mentioned that it’s very obvious when a shiny Pokemon spawns in Let’s Go, because you can literally see it’s a different colour to what it should be. However, that’s not entirely the case for your Pokemon Box. It won’t actually let you know which out of the 400 Zubats you just caught is your lovely green shiny one at all. That’s quite unlike Pokemon Go where you can see the colour difference of a shiny and it’s labelled with three little black stars. That means in Pokemon Let’s Go you run the risk of trading away or transferring your prized shiny by mistake. I’d recommend labelling it as a favourite, or slapping some kind of sticker on it to make sure it’s very obvious in your list as something special.
Stand Still Or Fly Around
Shiny hunting in Pokemon Lets Go will continue to evolve until the odds of encountering a shiny Pokemon are maximised. On top of catch combos, lures and the game code , there is the debate as to whether it is more efficient to stand still, walk or fly around.
Now, Pokemon trainers have different opinions on this but the numbers indicate there is a conclusive answer. By flying around, on a route which covers a large patch of land like Route 17, you can go through more wild Pokemon spawns than you can by walking or standing still.
The counter argument to this is it is less efficient on your lures. However, when factoring in the increase in Pokemon spawned vs the cost and time of acquiring those lures, it is still far more efficient to fly around.
Verlisify actually explains the logic behind this very clearly in the video below. Examples of numbers behind this are included as well.

Pokmon Let’s Go Pikachu Eevee: How To Catch Shiny Pokmon With Catch Combos
Chaining successful captures and defeats has been a thing in Pokémon since Diamond & Pearl with the PokéRadar item, but Pokémon Lets Go, Pikachu! & Lets Go, Eevee! have brought it back to the forefront, with the whole system being made crystal-clear via the new Catch Combo mechanic.
As there are no ‘wild’ battles, in order to combo a Pokémon, you have to catch the same species over and over without catching another species, having a Pokémon run from you, or saving and closing the game. You can leave the area you are catching the Pokémon at any time and return to continue the combo.
So what does the Catch Combo provide? Thats a very simple thing to answer. Catch Combos allow for you to find Pokémon with better IVs and increase your chances to get a Shiny Pokémon. This is a vital thing for collectors and competitive players alike.
So lets start with the IVs of a Pokémon. For those who dont know, IVs are the genetics of the Pokémon and run at a value between 0 and 31, with each value indicating the equivalent of 1 Stat Point at Level 100, calculated at lower values as your level is lower. With catch combos, youll find that every 10 Pokémon in the combo will reward you a guaranteed IV that is maximum.
- Chains 11 & over: 2 Max IVs
- Chains 21 & over: 3 Max IVs
- Chains 31 & over: 4 Max IVs
