How To Get Pokecoins In Pokemon Go

Pokecoins can be purchased as microtransactions in the in-game shop. Under the “Pokecoins” section in the Pokeshop, you will find a handful of various offers.

• 100 Pokecoins – $0.99
• 5,200 Pokecoins – $62.99
• 14,500 Pokecoins – $159.99

Depending on how you choose to split up your purchases, getting the requisite 16,600 or so Pokecoins to finance maxing out your Pokemon box storage could cost you near $200 if you purchase them all from the in-game Pokeshop.

The only other way to earn Pokecoins without real-world currency is by defeating and defending Gyms. The payout for holding a gym works out to about six Pokecoins per hour. This earns you a measly maximum of 50 Pokecoins from one gym per day. But that’s only if you manage to successfully defend the gym for the full eight hours and 20 minutes.

For every upgrade purchased, you’ll need to defend four gyms for a full day to max out each one’s Pokecoin output.

Note: Niantic was confirmed to be running localized tests in Australia to broaden the approaches to earning Pokecoins in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. These additional methods for earning Pokecoins include catching, evolving, transferring, buddy snapshots, and more. However, if these trials will ever roll out to more regions remains to be seen as the developers have recently been dealing with trainer blowback for revoking other adjustments made to accommodate the global pandemic.

The only way to unlock the mythical Pokémon Mew is by buying a Poké Ball Plus accessory.

Porygon evolves into Porygon2 in the main Pokémon series via held-item trading, much the same as for other Gen 2 Pokémon like Steelix, Politoed, and Kingdra.

But if you walk right up to a gym, youll be disappointed when the bouncer at the door asks for a Raid Pass or Premium Raid Pass and you don’t have one. Only one raid pass can be used per day, otherwise, you need to purchase a Premium Raid Pass from the shop to participate in raid battles more often.

Battles within the Go Battle League are set up the same way as Trainer Battles and Team Leader Training Battles. You select three Pokémon and will be matched up with another Trainer at random. The Battle begins with your first Pokémon against your opponent’s first Pokémon, and until a Pokémon is sent out, neither Trainer knows what the other has brought with them. If you’re lucky, the Pokémon you’ve chosen will have a Type advantage, or at least not be weak against the other Trainer’s choice. There are definitely some Pokémon better suited for these Battles than others, but there isn’t a single Pokémon that cannot be countered, so there’s a fair bit of luck involved in winning these matches.

Like other Battles within Pokémon Go, you’ll mostly be using your Fast Move until you’ve built up your Charged Move, which will involve hitting several bubbles on the screen to determine how strong it hits. The only way to get free PokéCoins is by occupying gyms. Up to six Pokémon can be put in a gym, if its for your team. You can change the color and team of a gym by battling in it and knocking out the Pokémon. It takes multiple rounds of battling to do this.

You will get six PokéCoins per hour while your Pokémon is in a gym, but youll only get the coins when your Pokémon gets knocked out. The Go Battle League is divided into three different Leagues: Great, Ultra, and Master League. These are set up the same as Trainer battles and Team Leader Training before with CP caps:

• The Great allows for Pokémon up to 1,500 CP and will run April 12-26. The Great League Remix runs concurrently but doesn’t allow the 10 most used Pokémon in the Great League.
• The Ultra League allows for Pokémon up to 2,500 CP and will run April 26 through May 10.
• The Master League has no CP limits and will run May 17-24.
• All three Leagues will run from May 17-24.

Each League is featured separately before rotating to the next League. This means you can usually only participate in one League at a time, but you have the opportunity to participate in all three Leagues. However, all three leagues are also available during a final week, in which players can choose any league they wish to battle.
