Armored Mewtwo makes its return to the popular mobile game for one week, but the powerful Psychic-type wont be alone. The clone variations of some of the more notable Pokémon in the film will be making their Pokémon Go debuts including the Kanto Starters and Pikachu.

POKEMON GO ARMORED MEWTWO EVENT START TIME
The Armored Mewtwo event runs from Tuesday February 25 at 4 p.m. EST to Monday, March 2 at 4 p.m. EST in Pokémon Go.
ARMORED MEWTWO COUNTERS
Armored Mewtwo will appear in Level 5 Raids during the event, and being a pure Psychic-type Pokémon its only weaknesses are Dark, Ghost and Bug-type attacks.
While there are plenty of powerful Pokémon that have those moves at their disposal, Armored Mewtwo will likely carry at least one Psychic-type attack making some of the best, like Gengar, susceptible to being knocked out by it.

Since the introduction of the Raid Battle system in June 2017, you can get Technical Machines to change your movesets. Two of the possible rewards for beating Raid Bosses are Quick TM and Fast TM, which can be used to change Quick Moves and Charge Moves respectively. Regular TMs are completely random and cannot access Legacy Moves.
Legacy Moves are special moves that were once available for a Pokémon but are no longer. Sometimes they were removed when Niantic re-balanced the game. Some were only available on Community Day or in special Raids. Either way, if a Legacy Move happens to be the best possible move for a Pokémon and you don’t have it, you cannot get it with a normal TM. Before you use a TM on any Pokémon, you should always check to see if the move you’re changing is a Legacy Move and if that move is worth having. A lot of Legacy Moves don’t perform well, but some of them are the best moves in the game.
More recently, Niantic introduced Elite TMs. These TMs are rare, and often difficult to get or expensive, but allow you to choose from any move a Pokémon can have, including Legacy Moves. They aren’t random either. You get to choose the move. Because of how hard it is to get Elite TMs, you’ll want to save them for your very best Pokémon, but hey, now you can have a Mewtwo with Shadow Ball and Psystrike!

Ghost, Bug, and Dark types in particular have an advantage over it in battle, so youll want to fill your team with Pokemon of those types before heading into the Raid.
Your best choices when facing Armored Mewtwo will be other Legendary Pokemon such as Darkrai and Origin Forme Giratina. Hydregion, Weavile, and Gengar can all dish out super-effective damage against Armored Mewtwo as well. However, Gengar will take super-effective damage in return due to its Poison typing, so it may not last very long. Scizor is another solid choice it can deal super-effective damage with Bug moves, while its Steel typing will help insulate it from Mewtwos Psychic attacks.

Its dark and rock type, however, makes it weak against bug, grass, fairy, ground, steel, and water types. Its formidable strength cancels a lot of that out, but it doesnt cancel out this Tyranitar is double weak against fighter types.
