Elite Four And Champions

The Elite Four is an order of four exceptionally skilled Pokémon trainers. Like the Gym Leaders, they also specialize on a type of Pokémon but are far stronger. The player must first defeat them all so that they may gain the right to challenge the Pokémon Champion. The player must obtain all eight badges from each respective region’s gym leaders in order to face the Elite Four. The Galar region does not have an Elite Four.

At the start of every game series, each region has their own respective regional League Champion. They are meant to be the strongest trainer within their own region and are far superior to the Elite Four or any Gym Leader. Their position of Pokémon Champion is constantly open to challenge to any Pokémon trainer who gains eight badges and defeats the Elite Four and once they defeat the Champion in a Pokémon battle, they automatically earn the title for themselves. Whenever the title of Champion is passed on, it is honored by an inauguration into the Hall of Fame.

Fighting Cheren In The Pwt

This needs some investigation.Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.Specifically: See if Cheren has any pokemon assigned to him.

Again, through editing the PWT files and then importing them as download tournaments, you’re also able to add Cheren. He has two values that you can select when you customize trainers for custom PWTs. One value is simply named “Rival” and the other is called “Cheren”

Upon entering the PWT with these two trainers, they both use Cheren’s Sprites.

“Rival” and “Cheren” use most of the same text, though they are in different addresses.

[I’m as thrilled as I can be to battlehere against you, the first challengerI battled as a Gym Leader.

I’m sure you’ve learned somethingabout Pokémon during your journey.

Now, I’m going to see if your bond withyour Pokémon has grown stronger!]

[Fantastic!

You and your Pokémonhave grown much stronger!]

[Cheren: I made it where I ambecause Pokémon were by my side.

Perhaps we need to think aboutwhy Pokémon help us not in terms ofPokémon and Trainers but as arelationship between living beings.]

[Remember our battle on Route 4?

Please bring out more of yourPokémon’s strength, like you did then!]

[Do you want to show how strong youare by winning, or do you want tolearn what battling really means?

Pokémon battles have no meaning ifyou don’t think about why you battle.

Or better said, it makes battlingtogether with Pokémon meaningless.]

[Even if hurt, my Pokémon will fightfor me with just one command.

[Thank you!

A Serving Of Creepypasta

Pokémon Black is a creepypasta: a tale born on the internet, designed to be repeated and re-pasted around the web. Most creepypasta the Russian Sleep Experiment, Anansi’s Goatman are campfire stories that happened to find their home online. But there’s a growing subset of stories embedded in video games, scares made more scary by their familiar virtual context.

Most of these stories draw their power from a sense of rarity. Pokémon Black was a single copy found in a flea market.

Another example: jvk1166z.esp, a mod for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, was reportedly only distributed to “the chosen few” several years ago. The mod was apparently difficult to use, but players who were able to run it said their characters would lose health if they stood still for too long. If they let their health bars whittle down to zero, they’d find the cause of the problem: a spindly humanoid figure dressed in untextured black armor that would apparently chase the player to the ends of the game world. The Assassin,’ as the figure is called by the creepypasta’s unnamed author, seems to be designed to stop the player from waiting in place long enough to discover what’s behind a mysterious door.

Character Select: Confronting Truth And Ideals

With the release of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, the 20-year franchise has hit a high in terms of worldwide popularity once again. Pokémania has swept the world, and with over 10 million units shipped and at least 2 million units sold in Japan alone, Sun and Moon are on track to break some major records for Nintendo. One of the more interesting aspects regarding Sun and Moon is the emphasis on a storyline, something fans of the franchise have always wanted.

Pokémon has always been a franchise about the monsters over the trainers, but the past seven years have seen changes to that formula through attempts at complicated story arcs. The aims of Team Flare, for example, are conflicted due to the leadership style of Lysandre, who wanted to destroy the world in order to save it from humans. Cyrus of Team Galactic strived for pure nihilism, wishing to create a void for all mankind by destroying the world in its wake. These stories have world-ending consequences with an epic take to them but often come up short of that epic quality due to the lackadaisical presentation;;the stories are passive and in the background, and the player involvement becomes one that is reactive at best, or at worst, almost ineffectual save for the final battles.

Pocket Monsters Bw: The Heroes Of Fire And Thunder

N appears in every chapter of Pocket Monsters BW: The Heroes of Fire and Thunder as the king of Team Plasma, known for harshly punishing any failure by grunts and wishing to turn Unova into a country inhabited only by Pokémon. He is first seen wearing a cape in a town in Unova, where he is approached by Shin who asks him for a battle, impressed by his Purrloin. He responds that he is not a Pokémon Trainer, but merely a Traveler. Several Team Plasma grunts then appear and snatch up his Purrloin, not realising that he is their boss. Shin is angry about them stealing Pokémon, but N states that he should not get involved because it’d be dangerous for him, but Shin replies that he doesn’t mind.

As they follow the grunts, N questions Shin’s reasons for desperately trying to rescue his Purrloin if he is just a Pokémon Trainer who uses Pokémon as tools, to which he replies that traveling together with a Pokémon is just more fun. N overhears a pair of Pidove talking, to which Shin begs N to teach him how to understand Pokémon language, leading N to call him an odd Pokémon Trainer.

In chapters three and four N is shown standing on the rubble of the Pokémon League having defeated the Elite Four and states Alder is next; and is explained by Alder that N told him that nobody but a Pokémon Trainer by the name of Shin could stand up to him, and sent Alder to help him become the Hero of Fire by controlling Reshiram.

    Breaking Into The Real World

Like Jadusable’s videos, Pokémon Black twists a well-known and well-loved game, exploiting our familiarity with Pokémon’s Kanto region to amp up the creepiness. It’s an approach well used by a slew of Japanese horror movies released at the turn of the millennium that helped break the boundaries between the virtual world and our own. The Ring‘s Sadako broke the fourth wall by crawling through it, forcing her way from videotape to her victims’ living rooms. Video games are meant to be safe worlds we choose to inhabit to get away from our own, places we can check in and check out of at will. But movies such as The Grudge began eroding that safe space, putting monsters under your bedclothes and hiding pale, glassy-eyed children under tablecloths in crowded restaurants.

Pokémon creepypastas have exploited the cultural differences and language barrier between Japan and the west to turbocharge their spookiness. An early version of the music that plays as you walk around Pokémon Red and Blue‘s Lavender Town was said to spark a spate of suicides in the game’s home country as Japanese school children, lured by high-pitched tones in the music, jumped from rooftops across the nation. No such death cult existed, and the Lavender Town music was never shown to subliminally drive kids to kill themselves, but the difficulty in translating Japanese news to English lends the rumor a powerful mystique.
