Best Pokemon Booster Packs To Buy For Profit

Which Pokemon Booster Box To Invest In

THE BEST POKEMON BOOSTER PACKS I INVESTED IN 2021!

Thats the big one. Many players want to know which is the best Pokemon booster box to buy for profit or to invest in. The idea is simple. You want to buy a Pokemon booster box now, hoping its price will go up, and youll be able to sell it for more money than you paid for it.

Many YouTubers will claim that you should go for this or that booster box, to make guaranteed profits, but the truth isnt as simple. Sure, some boxes have a bigger chance of gaining value in the future, but thats not a guarantee.

Lets say that a certain booster box contains three high-value cards that are staples in the format. While the price of the box could go up, these cards could very well get a reprint in the next set, or in a special product, and the price of the box would plummet.

So is it impossible to profit from a Pokemon booster box? Certainly not, as we have seen booster boxes raise to very high prices often enough. We just want to warn you not to invest blindly. Actually, there are some rules you should follow.

What to Pay Attention to When Investing?

  • Only invest money that you can afford to lose.
  • Dont treat your Pokemon Booster Boxes, as your retirement plan. These should at most only be a small part of your portfolio.
  • Keep your Booster Boxes safe from harm, such as water damage, etc.
  • Okay, Ill be Careful. Which One to Invest in?

As we said, its impossible to tell. However, the most booster boxes that usually go up in price, have some or multiple of the following things:

Sun & Moon Get First Gx Pokemon Cards

Sun & Moon Edition introduced Pokemon-GX. Each of these Pokemon has a GX attack. Thats an attack so powerful that you can only use one of them per game!

So if youre a fan of the GX Pokemon and you want to get some very first Pokemon-GX, this is the right booster box for you. You can find some really awesome cards in these packs, such as Lunala-GX and Solgaleo-GX.

Lets check some of the more iconic cards you might get in this booster box.

Variables That Can Affect A Cards Value

    1. The Grading Company

PSA is the king of Pokémon card grading with BGS a close 2nd. Both companies command top $ for their graded cards and have proven that grades do matter in the Pokémon realm, with a BGS 9.5 1st Edition Charizard selling for nearly $73,000.00 in July of 2021.

    2. Supply of the card

Pokémon cards have low populations compared to sports cards. The number of graded cards can be the biggest indicator of value, but some cards, such as Pikachu or Charizard, have insane demand regardless of populations. Supply is outmatched by current demand, and after two decades since these cards were produced, that wont change. Check the PSA 1999 Pokémon Game Population report to get more info on how limited the Base set cards are.

    3. Buying Raw vs. Graded

Thanks to modern technology, getting clear photos of cards is easier than ever. That said, until you hold a card, you dont know how clean it really is. Graded cards are the safest indicator that youre getting what you want. When buying graded cards, think of the price paid for the grading and that there is no wait time besides shipping. There is much less risk buying graded cards, but raw can be the best bet to make profits faster. You never know what you can find in a binder someone is selling, but be careful and do your best to inspect those cards.

    4. Surface, corners, edges, creases & centering

    5. Your negotiation tactics

    6. Nostalgic elements

You Dont Need To Know The Franchise

Serious investors are sometimes put off by the seemingly childish nature of Pokémon cards, and the idea that they would need to delve into the franchise in order to make informed decisions and allocate their assets well.

In fact, neither of these assumptions hold true. Although the franchise was aimed primarily at teenagers, there are plenty of adult enthusiasts and a community of serious collectors, as well as professional Pokémon card players taking part in worldwide tournaments. In any case, investing in valuable Pokémon cards is no different than collecting stamps if anything, the former makes more sense, because Pokémon cards were intended to be collected and traded.

Knowledge of the franchise certainly helps if you want your Pokémon card investments to turn into a hobby. However, its by no means necessary especially because there are plenty of resources online to identify and assess every card.

The Best Cards Are Worth More Than Youd Think

8 Best Pokemon Booster Boxes to Buy in 2021

In 2018, a man named Gary made digital headlines after appearing on Pawn Stars with a series of Pokémon cards, which he claimed were worth half a million dollars.

While this claim initially astounded both the audience and the shows experts, its perfectly true that rare first edition cards can hold immense value. The cards brought in to Pawn Starsby Gary were just a small fraction of his assets, too Garys entire collection was later revealed to be worth approximately $5 million.

Earlier this month, the YouTuber Logan Paul bought a first edition PSA-graded 10 Charizard card from Pawn Stars Gary for a whopping $150,000. And thats not even close to the highest price ever fetched by a Pokémon card this honor went to The Pikachu Illustrator card, which sold for $233,000.

Though the average price of Pokémon cards is much lower, there are many rare, highly collectible cards with values upwards of $200,000. A 1999 Holographic Shadow-less First Edition Charizard, for instance, is currently worth between $150,000 to $200,000.

Even more common cards can be worth several thousand dollars, depending on their condition. For example, Charizard Holo cards from the 1999 base set have been known to fetch over $5,000 to $10,000 despite the fact that there are over 10,000 of them in circulation.

    The Future Of Pokmon Cards

Can You Make PROFIT From a Pokemon Sword & Shield Booster Box?

Given this is vintage, the original high graded cards, sealed boxes and packs are scarce. The probability for further profits is strong. Due to demand, desire and drive, the Pokémon Game appears to be safe. Over $10 Billion in card sales since 1996 is staggering.

Long term investing paid off in a short term for collectors in 2020. Prices have come back down a bit since, due to population growth and declining recent exposure from celebrities and influencers. Its a winning proposition due to Pokémon culture being bigger than any competing market. Pokemon is the #1 ranked media franchise on the planet, slightly besting Hello Kitty. They flat out win. Television, video games, cards, it’s still going strong. The children collecting today know all about the original cards and they covet them. Can you name the top 10 sports cards to own pre-1980? The children collecting today can name the top Pokémon Cards from 1999.

Even though prices have fluctuated a bit, if you zoom out and look at the growth over the last five years, it has been astronomical. The main concern moving forward is liquidity drying up, but that has also impacted the entire card market, crypto, the stock market, the NFT market, and more.

You Will Not Believe The Prices That Old Pokemon Booster Boxes Are Selling For

I have been playing and collecting Trading Card Games since the mid-1990s. I started playing Magic: The Gathering in 1996. I remember seeing a Black Lotus card from MTG at my local game store selling for $300. I still remember thinking $300 for a single card was crazy!

In 2017, someone paid $100,000 for a Perfect 10 graded Black Lotus. Wow! Just Wow! A PSA 9 Black Lotus sold for $62,000 in April 2020.

While playing in a large MTG Tournament in January 1999, representatives of Wizards of the Coast were demonstrating their new Pokemon Trading Card Game. I played the demo, and enjoyed it. The Base Set of Pokemon had just been released. My kids and I had been playing the Pokemon Red/Blue games on the old B& W GameBoys, so I picked up some booster packs to teach them a TCG. Booster packs sold for $3.29 each back then. And Booster Boxes of the Base Set retailed for about $118. The real Pokemon Craze started in the Spring/Summer of 1999, about 2-3 months later.

Pokmon World Championships No 1 Trainer

Every copy of this rare and valuable promo card is one-of-a-kind

Sold for $31,200 in April 2021

The first of two rare and valuable Pokémon cards called No. 1 Trainer on this list, this particular card was awarded to winners of the regional Battle Road Spring tournaments held in Japan during early 2002.

The regional tournaments were held as qualifiers for the Pokémon World Championships, with the small number of No. 1 Trainer cards produced for the few winners making them some of the rarest Pokémon cards in existence.

Adding to the card’s rarity is the fact that each No. 1 Trainer card was customised with the name of the tournament winner printed onto the card, making each card one-of-a-kind. According to auction house Heritage Auctions, the personalised aspect of the cards also mean that they rarely appear at auction, making them an even rarer sight in the world of Pokémon cards.

The 2002 No. 1 Trainer card was illustrated by Ken Sugimori, best known as being one of the original artists and designers for Pokémon’s first generation of 151 Pokémon. The text on it reads: “The Pokémon Card Game Official Tournament Battle Road Spring 2002 champion is recognised here, and his honour is praised.” Sugimori’s No. 1 Trainer artwork – featuring fan-favourite Pokémon such as Pikachu, Chansey and Marrill – is exclusive to the card, making it especially unique.

I published an article listing five tips for those interested in investing in Pokémon trading cards, and perhaps one of the most important tips was the last one: “If You Don’t Have a Passion for Pokémon, Don’t Do It.”

This remains true for sealed products. Due to the moderate risk of acquiring illegitimate items, the potential for fire or other disaster, the difficulty of storing and maintaining your assets, and the illiquidity of Pokémon cards, the only investors who should realistically get involved in the space are those with a genuine interest in collecting Pokémon while seeing some healthy yet often humble returns in the process.

This being said, if you have a passion for “catching them all,” you may find that investing in sealed products will reduce your risk, quickly diversify your market exposure, and offer your eventual buyers value that exceeds simply the physical product. Happy collecting!

Are Pokemon Booster Boxes Worth Buying

Pokemon booster boxes are definitely worth buying. They are great if you are trying to build your Pokemon card collection, if you are trying to pull rare and valuable cards, and if you are going to hold onto the boxes to resell them for more money in the future.

If you are trying to make the most amount of money safely, then holding onto the booster boxes to resell them later in the future will yield the safest results.

Opening booster boxes and getting the super rare cards graded is also a great way to make money, but has much more risk as you are not guaranteed to get a very valuable card.

Pokmon Blastoise #009/165r Commissioned Presentation Galaxy Star Hologram

A two-of-a-kind card that suddenly became one of the most valuable Pokémon cards of all time

Sold for $360,000 in January 2021

One of only two such Pokémon cards in existence – making it extremely rare – this Blastoise suddenly became one of the most valuable Pokémon cards of all time after it sold at auction in January 2021 for a whopping $360,000 .

The ultra-rare Pokémon card was created in 1998 as a presentation piece by Magic: The Gathering maker Wizards of the Coast to convince Nintendo of Japan executives to allow it to handle the TCGs English-language release. The game would eventually make its international debut one year later in 1999.

While two Blastoise Presentation cards were produced, this is the only one that has been seen publicly. Even more impressively, it has been graded at a NM/Mint+ 8.5 level by certification website CGC, meaning that the 20-plus-year-old card is in near-perfect condition. The location and state of the other Presentation card remains unknown – meaning that this may well be the only such card of its type left.

How Can You Tell If A Pokmon Card Is Valuable

The Professional Sports Authenticator authenticates and appraises the value of games and collectibles.

PSA states that the worth of trading cards basically has to do with their rarity.

For example, if there are only 100 copies or less of a certain card, then it will be worth more because it is in such low supply.

Another important factor is the condition.

Cards in good condition retain their worth over time, but cards that have physically deteriorated or not been treated well will lose their value.

One more factor is the type of card.

Beloved characters will be worth more money, whereas characters that are not as popular may not be valued so highly.

Cards featuring Charizard, Mewtwo, or Lugia might possess more value because they are such popular characters.

A score of PSA 10 is the highest value something can have, and a PSA of 0 or 1 is the low end.

Ultimately, it comes down to supply and demand.

If you want to check the value of your collection, you can consult PSAs online price guide.

Some local auction houses will even appraise your cards for free.

It is not only Pokémon fans in the market for new cards now, but also millionaires and billionaires looking to make a profit on the rarest cards.

Is Buying Pokemon Booster Boxes A Good Investment

CHEAP POKEMON CARD HUNT AT BEST BUY! Opening Booster Packs

It is for both collecting and re-selling reasons. In fact, it is a good investment from the point of view of a collector who can have a great variety of Pokemon cards from a set. This will let you get a feel for the new cards and depending on your pull ratio you may then opt to purchase more packs or buy specific singles. From the standpoint of future reselling, genuine sealed Pokemon boxes of booster cards is worth the investment if you are willing to wait for that money. While you wait, those boxes of cards need to be stored well until they are harder to find, and the value goes up.
