It has made a reappearance for Pokémon Day 2020.

Thanks to the armour, this special Mewtwo has a different CP range and set of attacks to the regular, non-heavy metal, Mewtwo.

• Tyranitar He is the best and the strongest counter against Mewtwo, with his Dark attacks. The best attack against Mewtwo is Tyranitars Bite/Crunch, but Bite/Stone Edge and even Iron Tail/Fire Blast is a great option.
• Mewtwo Use your Psychic Pokemon against another Psychic Pokemon and Shadow Ball. So far, 2 Tyranitars and a Mewtwo between.

These are the best counters that you can use against Mewtwo. But, you can always experiment and try your luck with one of the following Pokemon:

• Houndoom Dark/Fire Type Pokemon. A fire move is a great option as well.
• Lugia Who thought that Lugia can be a great counter against Mewtwo with the Sky Attack?
• Scizor The best bug-attacker whose skills are great against Hyper Beam and all other forms of Mewtwo. But be careful from the Focus Blast.

Psychic-types are weak to bug, dark, and ghost-type Pokémon, and are incredibly strong against fighting and poison types. When picking a fight with Mewtwo, players should pick Pokémon that are bug/dark/ghost type and avoid picking Pokémon that are fighting or poison. Even Pokémon who are dual types can be vulnerable to Mewtwo’s attacks is fighting or poison is one of its typings.

Outside of legendary Pokémon, there are plenty of easily obtainable Pokémon that players can use against Mewtwo. Gengar with either Lick or Shadow Claw as its fast move and Shadow Ball as its charge attack is great against Mewtwo. Mismagious is another fairly easy ghost type players can use, and Pinsir with Bug Bite as its fast move and X-Scissor as its charge move can prove very useful in a fight.

Movesets with Confusion will do more damage than those with Psycho Cut, but the latter is easier to dodge with and provides more energy for Charge Moves. Use Psycho Cut when Psychic type is resisted, when the charge move is weather boosted, or when the charge move is doubly SE.

• Psycho Cut + Shadow Ball is ideal against Psychic-type Pokemon when Ghost is super effective and Psychic is not. Confusion + Shadow Ball is Mewtwos best neutral DPS and ideal against Ghosts.

• Psystrike makes Mewtwo the best Psychic attacker, standing far above all competition. Pair with Confusion for the highest DPS pure Psychic moveset.

• Thunderbolt places Mewtwo just behind Raikou and Zapdos as one of the top Electric attackers in the game.

• Flamethrower Mewtwo is outclassed by several alternative Fire-types, but it’s boosted if the weather is clear.

• Focus Blast is ideal for gyms against all those Blissey and Snorlax. However, there are much better options for Fighting-type DPS.

If we assume that the Mewtwo we are fighting isn’t Dynamaxed or Gigantimaxed during the fight, then it can be assumed that any creature fighting it that is enlarged can take it down. They really only have to step on it to take it out.

Now, if Mewtwo is also Dynamaxed, then we have a much more even fight. It’s alright though, we’ll send all seven forms of Charizard out to fight it together. They’ll overwhelm it numerically, it won’t stand a chance.

And now we come to the true question of how to beat Giovanni in Pokémon GO for December 2021. To do it you will need solid counters, which we list below. More than that though, you need to strategize using his own tactics against him. First off, make sure your Persian counter isnt in your first slot. Swapping Pokémon will cause Giovanni to pause his own attacks for 2-3 seconds, letting you do damage and gain Charged Attack energy. And youll then want to use that energy to burn off Giovannis two shields. Hell use them against your first two Charged Attacks so dont worry about damage or type matchups with them. Just fire them off so that your later counters actually hit.
