Before we even heard their presence was confirmed in the big Gym rework, we already knew the various Legendaries were in the game.

That’s thanks to some good old-fashioned datamining. NesstendoYT on YouTube was one major player, who dug through the game’s files to discover that the above first generation Legendary Pokémon are indeed listed in the game:

Their absence in the game led to plenty of speculation, particularly with one of the strongest and most famous Legendary Pokémon – Mewtwo – being the focus of one of the game’s first trailers, showing crowds of people teaming up to fight it, whittling down its health as a timer ticks down before capturing the Pokémon in a packed Times Square, suggesting that Mewtwo and other Legendaries could be unlocked through public events rather than random encounters.

That’s since been confirmed of course – but it’s interesting Mewtwo pops up again at the end of the trailer… maybe that’s the Legendary Raid that needs to be tackled in Chicago?

As for Gen 2‘s Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-oh and Celebi, they’ve appeared in datamining efforts, too, with their stats showing up alongside the likes of the birds, Mew and Mewtwo.

These stats reveal them to be among the best Pokémon in our Pokémon Go tier list, with Mewtwo and Ho-Oh having some of the highest base attacks in the game, more so than existing creatures Alakazam and Dragonite.

Since the game went online over a year ago, players of Niantics massively popular AR monster-catcher have wondered where all the legendary creatures are hiding in Pokémon Go. The original Game Boy title had massively powerful, interesting, and unique legendary Pokémon way back in the 90s, but the smartphone game launched without access to Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo, despite a heavy feature in the original trailer.

Now, at least some of these critters are catchable in the game: the first two legendary Pokémon to appear are the flying-ice type bird Articuno and the flying-psychic type Lugia, with more monsters slated to hit the game later on. But be warned: catching them isnt going to be a walk in the park. Unless you catch them by walking to the park. Like I did.

Using Hypnosis Or Mean Look

Hypnosisis a move that puts the target Pokémon to sleep however, the move only has 60% accuracy and doesn’t affect a wild Pokémon that already has a major status ailment. Hypnosis is useful against Legendaries – it keeps them from defeating your Pokémon and buys you more time. A Legendary that is asleep stands a better chance of being caught than one that is wide awake with no status ailments. Other moves that affect status can be used as well, such as Thunder Wave or Stun Spore.Mean Look is a move that youll need if you are hunting Legendary Pokémon that like to run away. This move does not cause any damage, but it prevents the opponent from running away. This only remains true if the party Pokémon that used the move remains in battle, however if the player switches to another Pokémon, the Legendary will be able to escape. Some Psychic, Ghost and Poison types can learn this move via leveling but it cannot be taught as a TM.

Ghastly is a Pokémon that can learn Hypnosis, and can be found in the Pokedex!

One: Find A Raid Pass

You cant just walk up to a raid boss and pile inyoull need a Raid Pass. These tokens are granted once a day by walking within range of a Pokémon Gym and spinning the circle, just like on a PokéStop. You can only get one Raid Pass per day, no matter how many gyms you go to, and you cant hold on to more than one at a timethat means free players are limited to one raid boss battle per day, and theyll have to spin the circle at a gym before going to a new raid battle the next day.

Theres an alternative if you want to attack multiple raid bosses in a single day: the Premium Raid Pass. This is an item bought in the Shop for 100 coins, and you can buy as many as you can afford in a day. But just like the regular Raid Pass, youre limited to only a single Premium Raid Pass at a time. And of course, buying them with coins will quickly drain your supply, unless you have Pokémon at multiple gyms or you top it up with real money.

How To Catch Legendaries From Special Research Quests

Some Pokemon are found in Special Research Quests. Six of them are available for players to catch this way, including:

• Mew
• Genesect
• Regigigas

Mew was the first Legendary players could catch via a quest called A Mythical Discovery. Time hasnt changed acquisition methods for this character, though. There are no other ways to catch Mew, and you still have to play the same quest to catch this particular Pokemon.

Celebi is currently available by playing through the Special Research Quest called A Ripple In Time.

Jirachis Special Research Quest is called Pokemon GO: A Thousand Year Slumber. The quest was originally available in Pokemon GO Fest 2019. Today, anyone who beats this quest will be able to catch Jirachi.

While Meltan and Melmetal are Mythical Pokemon, they may be found by completing the Special Research Quest called Lets GO, Meltan.

You could catch Genesect if you participated in the ticketed Special Research Quest called Pokemon GO: A Drive to Investigate. While the tickets havent been available for nearly two years, you can still beat the quest if you didnt do so before.

Pokemon GO: A Colossal Discovery was the only way to get Regigigas. Similar to Genesects quest, the tickets are long gone. If you had one from before, you could still complete the quest and catch Regigigas today.

Special Research Quests can be tedious, so you should take your time and complete them properly. Make sure you follow all the instructions to save time.

How To Unlock Ramanas Park

You can only access Ramanas Park after you have become the Champion by defeating the eight gym leaders and the Elite Four.

Next, you need to see all 151 Pokémon from the Sinnoh Region Pokédex. Note that you do not need to catch them, just see them. This can be done without trading with anyone simply by battling NPCs and encountering wild Pokémon in your game. You can also get a Pokédex entry for the opposite Legendary from your game, Dialga or Palkia, by talking to Cynthia’s Grandmother in Celestic Town after you’ve captured your own Dialga or Palkia. Make sure to spot Drifloon during your playthrough as this Pokémon is one many can easily miss.

How To Get Slates Mysterious Shards In The Grand Underground

To get Slates, you must dig up Mysterious Shards in the Grand Underground digging minigame. They can either be small or large, but they are pretty rare to come by. You might be digging down there for a long time before you find any.

Once you’ve collected either three Mysterious Shards S or one Mysterious Shards L, return to Ramanas Park and talk to the NPC at the building entrance to trade it for a Slate. Where To Catch Ralts In The Wild Area

If youre struggling to find Gallade or would rather start with its previous evolution, Ralts are abundant in the Wild Area and can often be seen in the overworld in grassy areas.

Locations where Ralts can spawn include: Dappled Grove, North Lake Miloch, Rolling Fields, South Lake Miloch, Watchtower Ruins, West Lake Axwell, Hammerlocke Hills, Lake of Outrage, Motostoke Riverbank, Rolling Fields, and Stony Wilderness.

You can even encounter Ralts at times in Max Raid battles near Watchtower Ruins. Wherever you find Ralts, there is one very important thing to be sure of.

Make sure the Ralts youre catching is male. If you catch a female Ralts, it will eventually evolve into Gardevoir, not Gallade. That means it wont be of any use to you for making a catching machine.

If youve encountered a female Ralts, simply run away or make it faint. Keep looking until you encounter a male Ralts, and make sure thats the one you catch.

How to evolve Ralts into Gallade

Should you choose to take the path of catching a male Ralts to evolve it into Gallade, youll first need to raise Ralts up to Level 20 for it to evolve into Kirlia. You can do this by battling other trainers in the game, defeating wild Pokémon, or using Exp. Candy that you find or earn in Max Raid battles.

However you choose to get your Ralts to Level 20, that will be your first step. Again, be sure you have a male Ralts, as a female Kirlia will only be able to evolve into Gardevoir.
