Master League is a great competition between Trainers and you will need to bring your strongest Pokemon. Your team will consist of different roles, so picking only the top three Pokemon wont be very effective. In any case, you should choose your Pokemon wisely depending on their possibilities to cooperate. The tier list for Master League in Pokemon Go is consists of the next Pokemon:
Lick + Body Slam And Superpower Or Earthquake
Lick is Snorlax’s only real option with regards to its fast moves. Zen Headbutt is really bad.
Body Slam is pretty much a requirement in order to use Snorlax for PvP. Without it Snorlax is unable to pressure shields effectively, and has no real options to shield-bait. Your secondary charged move of choice is going to depend on the format. Superpower is at its most notable in formats heavy with Steel-types , though the Fighting-type coverage is very often relevant. Earthquake is meaningfully slower, but it’s a solid nuke where needed, and it helps solidify a strong matchup against Giratina . Outrage and Skull Bash are generally considered outclassed, though they have seen experimentation and can catch your opponents by surprise.

Lead Pokmon Tier List
Your Lead Pokémon is the first one you use while battling other trainers. You want your choice to be a mixture of decent defense stats, stamina, and to have some decent attack power to do enough damage against an opponent.

Your Lead Pokémon should be able to deal enough damage to fight toe-to-toe with most Pokémon, but dont be afraid to swap it out. Letting it faint too early is also a critical error.

Bubble is slightly better than Rock Smash, offering slightly better coverage.

Play Rough is on par with Ice Beam. The former has better damage, is harder to dodge, and hits Dark, Dragon, and Fighting-types effectively. The latter has counter coverage on Grass-types while still threatening Dragon-types.

Hydro Pump is generally worse than Azumarills other charge moves, having a higher energy cost. However, it does heavy damage and is hard to dodge.

Using The Pokemon Rankings
In the top-level rankings, you’ll see a score for each Pokemon. This score is an overall performance number from 0 to 100, where 100 is the best Pokemon in that league and category. It is derived from simulating every possible matchup, with each Pokemon’s most used moveset . Use this score to compare overall performance between Pokemon for example, the difference between the #1 and #50 Pokemon may not be the same as the difference between the #50 and #100 Pokemon. This score also allows you to see the parity in different leagues and categories.
Trainer Battles feature a wide variety of scenarios, especially involving shields. In order to give a fuller picture, our overall rankings are derived from additional sets of rankings, where battles are simulated with different roles in mind. You can explore rankings for each of the following categories:
Different Pokemon may succeed in different scenarios, so use these categories to help determine when a particular Pokemon would be the most valuable.
Within each ranking, you’ll see four separate detail sections:
- Fast Moves – Which Fast Moves the Pokemon uses most in the league and category.
- Charged Moves – Which Charged Moves the Pokemon uses most in the league and category.
- Key Wins – Which battles the Pokemon performs best in, weighed by the opponent’s overall score.
- Key Counters – Which significant opponents perform best against the Pokemon.

Important Updates And Changes
It is important to note that these are the Top Tier Pokémon based on rankings from PvPoke and from investigation and research. What team you choose to use is entirely up to you and it is our hope that this guide will hope you make the best choices for your playstyle.
Each season, a new meta forms based on Pokémon allowed to battle and any new Pokémon additions or changes to movesets. You can mix the teams however you want, but bringing any of these top Pokémon will easily boost your performance!
The list goes from the strongest Pokémon to Pokémon that are not that strong but have niche uses with strong DPS . With the introduction of Premier Cup, a new meta was created with the exclusion of legendary Pokémon, allowing more Pokémon to shine.
Also, pay attention to Pokémon marked with an XL to indicate that its best performance is powered up past level 40. With the introduction of level 50 and generation 6, the meta has been shaken up, but it will likely still be awhile before you see XL Pokémon widespread in the meta.
I have included XL in this guide so you can determine which Pokémon you want to train to XL in the future. Until XL becomes more prominent, you can substitute lower tier Pokémon.

As always, youll want to take typing into consideration. The Legendary Water-type Kyogre may feature on our list, for example, but it will always be impacted when going against a strong Electric-type or Grass-type opponent.
Ultra League: All Pokmon
This is the classic Ultra League game mode, which does not restrict any Pokémon for use in battle. In this mode, legendary Pokémon dominate the meta. However, there is some changes happening with the introduction of XL Pokémon. We can expect that XL Pokémon will disrupt legendary dominance in this game mode once XL Pokémon become more widespread and common in the meta. Powering up and unlocking second moves on legendary Pokémon can be very expensive, but we recommend doing it if you want to be competitive in this game mode. There are budget options, but non-legendary Pokémon struggle to keep up with legendary stats.

Snarl + Foul Play Or Dark Pulse And Last Resort* Or Psychic*
Snarl is recommended over Feint Attack for its very fast energy generation, though the latter does offer more damage output.
Foul Play is usually the preferred move, due to its lesser energy cost, but Dark Pulse does provide some extra power for one or two more fast moves needed to charge it. Umbreon’s lack of coverage moves is its liability, so while Community Day-exclusive Last Resort does cost more energy to use and is Super Effective against nothing, it’s a must to deal neutral damage if the opponent would resist Dark-type moves. Psychic is an alternative coverage option added during the 2nd Eevee Community Day, and is preferable to retaliate against Fighting-type Pokemon, but risks Umbreon being completely resisted by other Dark-type Pokemon.
Great League Tier List
With around 700 different entries in Pokemon Gos roster, its difficult to pinpoint which options are Battle League-ready and which are better off as pets. In this Great League Tier List, well be ranking Pokemon based on six different tiers. Because of the sheer volume of Pokemon available, were only going to mention those that fall in tiers S, A, B, and C. If a Pokemon isnt on the list, that means they fall in D-Tier. S-Tier Pokemon are the most optimal for the Great League, given their skill set and current stats. On the other hand, D-Tier Pokemon have subpar abilities that do little against other Pokemon. Finally, remember that these Pokemon need under 1,500 CP to participate in the Great League!

Ultra League: Premier Cup
For anyone not familiar with Premier Cup in Go Battle League, this introduces some restrictions on the available Pokémon you can choose from. This game type eliminates legendary and mythical Pokémon from the meta. Removing legendary Pokémon allows other Pokémon to shine and changes the typing meta.
The strongest legendary Pokémon in regular Ultra League are Psychic, Ghost, Steel, and Dragon types, which controls what non-legendary Pokémon are viable. Premier Cup allows for a much more diverse meta and opens up your options, which makes this game type very popular among battlers. Most battlers will likely choose this game type over regular Ultra League to avoid costly and difficult legendary Pokémon.

If you ask us which tier is better, let us claim the fact anything above B-Tier is worth it.
B-Tier is at third in the row from Dokkan Battle Tier List, but that does not mean all the units are worthless to have, and you cannot play a good game with it.
The reason is, the units to have from the beginning are worth of progression and with time, they can get to upgrade because any of your characters then turn stronger, advancing to the next levels, and ultimately unlocking more units.

S-tier comprises over 12 maximum units. All the included units are top-of-the-line, and cannot be further upgraded. To better say, this tier category holds all the leader units available which seem optimal to own, resulting in increasing the intensity of Super Attack and winning the match in a short span of time.
Right below the top time, A-tier holds over 20 maximum units which are enough to build a stronger team to fight off the enemy with good power.
Known for having the basic 35 units as the maximum that may eventually help yourself to get to the higher levels, but the progress would be super slow to achieve the units belonging to the next tier.
Having over 50 maximum units, we can only assume these units are just for the fight purpose to keep yourself engaged with the game as long as you are a no-part of an existing team and play all alone.

Mud Shot + Rock Slide And Earthquake
Mud Shot is recommended for its excellent energy generation, which is needed for Galarian Stunfisk’s costly charge moves.
Rock Slide provide valuable coverage against common typings, in addition to costing less energy to bait shields. Earthquake benefits from STAB to deal significant damage, though it costs a lot of energy to use. Flash Cannon also benefits from STAB, but its coverage is not relevant for most formats.

Teams Need A Landorus Check
Landorus is ever-present in most teams, which means your team needs a powerful and fast special sweeper that can threaten the Abudance Pokemon. Some physical sweepers, like Pheromosa and Salamence, have no problem facing Landorus as they have coverage moves like Ice Beam and Hydro Pump respectively.
Bubble + Play Rough And Hydro Pump
This combination eschews Azumarill’s Ice Beam in favor of its two expensive STAB Charge Moves. The goal of this set is the same as the first wide coverage, though this set concedes to Ice-types in favor of winning the mirror matchup. As Azumarill is one of the most utilized Pokemon in the Great League, this set recognizes the importance of countering itself with Play Rough. Play Rough and Ice Beam share overlapping coverage against Altaria, while Hydro Pump allows it to take down a variety of Steel-types that would otherwise threaten it. As noted above, Azumarill has the bulk to build energy for these higher costing moves, so combining these two can give you a strong pair against the open field.

A new series of Great League battles are about to take place through the second half of October in Pokémon Go. So far, there are have been no mid-season adjustments for Season 9, which is unexpected. However, it could mean that Niantic is gearing up for even more changes for 2022, especially with the announcement of larger tournaments taking place. The choices you made for teams during the first half of Season 9 are still going to be worthwhile, but we will make any updates if adjustments are made the day of the event.
