  • FOLLOW US ON:

Popular AR game Pokémon GO continues to have a solid fan following and is now receiving a new update that adds Mega Evolutions. Most Pokémon fans should have a fair idea about Mega Evolution that was introduced to the Pokémon series starting with Pokémon X and Y and later on Sun and Moon. With this addition, players can have powerful evolved forms of certain Pokémon in the game.

In the original series, these Pokémon could achieve Mega Evolution or a more powerful form for a temporary period during battle by using the Mega Stone. However, things are a little different when it comes to Pokémon GO. Players can Mega Evolve these using a new addition to the game called Mega Energy that can be collected by battling Mega Evolved Pokémon in raids. The faster you defeat the raid boss, the more Mega Energy you get, so make sure you battle with a large group. As of now the only Mega Evolved Pokémon that you can find in Mega Raids are Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.

You can also collect Mega Energy for Beedrill via a new Special Research under the “A Mega Discovery” quest. By completing certain tasks you can learn more about Mega Evolution and earn Beedrill Mega Energy, which will allow you to Mega Evolve your Beedrill. This essentially means that a total of four Pokémon are eligible for Mega Evolution. However, there are a lot more that have a Mega Evolution form and we might see them being added in the future. Here is a list of all Pokémon that can Mega Evolve:

Trainers, now that Mega Evolution is part of the game, many players want to know which Pokemon can Mega Evolve and which Mega Evolutions and Shiny Mega Evolution forms are available in Pokemon Go.

Mega Evolution is a temporary transformation affecting Pokemon introduced in Generation VI. Mega-Evolved Pokemon are identified by having Mega in front of their name and to Mega Evolve, you must use Mega Energy.

46 Pokemon species are capable of Mega Evolution, and there are 48 different Mega Evolutions.

Pokmon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team Dx

Mega Evolution returns in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, here achieved by eating an Awakening Seed. Mega Evolved Pokemon also have all of the bonuses granted by the Awakened status . The only additional bonuses Mega Evolution grants compared to the Awakened status is the potential to change a Pokémon’s type and ability.

As in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, if Mewtwo or Charizard Mega Evolves, their Mega Evolution will be chosen randomly.

Additionally, during Rayquaza‘s rematch or Mewtwo’s boss fight, both will Mega Evolve once their health drops below one half of their total. Mewtwo will always Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo X during its boss fight.

Pokemon Go Mega Energy: How To Get The Stuff You Need To Mega Evolve

ByPhillip Martinez09 August 2021

How to get Mega Energy in Pokemon Go, the new consumable you need to Mega Evolve certain Pokemon

Knowing how to get Pokemon GO Mega Energy is a big part of a relatively new and powerful feature in Pokemon GO: Mega Evolution. Like its video game counterpart, Mega Evolution in Pokemon GO temporarily transforms certain Pokemon into more powerful versions of themselves. To perform this transformation, trainers will need to collect Mega Energy in Pokemon GO.

Mega Energy, like Pokemon Candy, is a new Pokemon Go consumable that transforms Pokemon into their Mega forms for eight hours. There are some events that can extend the length of Mega Evolution, but the standard length of time is eight hours. Trainers can take these Mega Evolved Pokemon into battle against Raid Pokemon, those in Gyms and against Team GO Rocket.

Another perk of Mega Evolution in Pokemon GO is the power boost it gives you and other trainers during Raid Battles. Using a Mega Pokemon will boost itself and other Pokemon of the same type by 33 percent, while others will get a 10 percent increase. Since Mega Evolutions introduction in 2020, Niantic has changed how trainers can obtain Mega Energy in-game and this guide will explain everything you need to know about it.

Mega Charizard X And Y

Fav Pokes! I hate Audino but it was the only gen 5 mega ...

All fans of the anime remember the sad episode where Charmander is trying to protect his tail from going out and Ash rushes to save him. It was a heartbreaking moment, but Mega Charizard will break hearts in another way.

Mega Charizard is a great example of a Mega Evolution done right. Charizard received not one, but two Mega Evolutions.

Charizard has always been associated with a dragon but has never been given the dragon-type label. That is until Mega Charizard X was released.

The attack and defense stats were both increased for Mega Charizard X while Mega Charizard Y benefits from its increased attack, special attack, and special defense.

Regardless of which you choose, you cant go wrong with a Mega Charizard.

How To Mega Evolve Your Pokmon In Pokmon Go

You can only have one Mega Pokémon at a time. If you Mega Evolve a different one, your first Pokémon will revert back to normal and youll need to collect Mega Energy to evolve it again.

Using a Mega Pokémon in a raid gives other Pokémon an attack boost, with an additional attack boost given to Pokémon of the same type. These boosts do not stack.

Your Pokémon will only be Mega Evolved for a time period, which you can check on the information screen for that Pokémon. Once it returns to normal, it will be significantly cheaper to Mega Evolve it again.

How Mega Evolutions Work

When you mega evolve a Pokémon, it becomes temporarily more powerful and gets a range of bonuses.

You can see which Pokémon can mega evolve by selecting them in your Pokémon storage.

If you see a Mega evolve button and Mega energy beside its candy indicator, you can mega evolve that Pokémon.

All Pokémon that can mega evolve are the final form of a Pokémon species. So while you can mega evolve Blastoise or Charizard, you cant do the same for Wartortle or Charmeleon.

For hardcore collectors, the main reason to get mega evolved Pokémon is that they appear permanently in your Mega Pokédex.

But, on the downside, your mega evolved Pokémon will only stay in its brawny new form for 8 hours. After that, it devolves into its original form.

To see how much time your mega evolution has left, look for the timer counting down on the right-hand side of the map screen.

Already, these limitations are causing some discontent in the community: because raids are the primary way that you get Mega Energy, it becomes massively expensive to keep a Mega Pokemon in your team for any appreciable length of time, and thats if you can even find and complete enough Raids to stockpile energy.

Limitations: Youll be using these things in Raids, where theyll give an attack boost to all other Pokémon and a bigger boost to Pokémon with the same attack types. You can also use them against Team Rocket and regular PvP, but they cant defend gyms or enter the Go Battle League. Niantic suggests that they could come to GBL eventually, but right now the paywall associated with them would be a huge problem when it comes to balancing.

Special Research: Theres some Special Research live right now to introduce you to the whole concept, through Beedrill. Heres the steps, and Ill update once we get the rest:

Step 1:

  • Send 3 Gifts to Friends: 10 Pokéballs
  • Earn a Candy walking with your buddy: 10 potions

Step 2:

List of Pokémon by generation

The sixth generation of the Pokémon franchise features 72 fictional species of creatures introduced to the core video game series in the 2013 Nintendo 3DS games Pokémon X and Y. Can Existing Pokmon Mega Evolve In Pokmon Go

It was revealed in a Developer Insight video that any Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution in the core games will also be able to Mega Evolve in Pokémon Go, including the very first starter Pokémon you chose. Well, assuming you didn’t pick Pikachu. However, not all Pokémon capable of Mega Evolving in the core games can do so right now. Currently, only select species of Pokémon can Mega Evolve, while more species will be added over time.

The following species have had Mega Evolution unlocked:

As of September 3, 2020, the cost for subsequent Mega Evolutions has been dropped from 25% to 20% of the initial cost.

How Mega Evolutions Work In Pokmon Go

Mega Evolutions are an additional, more powerful evolution that certain Pokémon – such as the original Kanto starters – can undertake.

To Mega Evolve a Pokémon in Pokémon Go, you need a resource named Mega Energy. Once a Pokémon has been Mega Evolved, it will stay in that form for a limited amount of time and can be used in a variety of battles.

You will be able to see how much time your Mega Evolution has remaining on its CP screen.

Once it has returned to its normal form, the Mega Energy you need to Mega Evolve it again later will be decreased.

This amount was further decreased on Thursday, 3rd September as Niantic performed a number of adjustments to the Mega Evolution system.

Other things you should know about Mega Evolutions:

  • You can only Mega Evolve one Pokémon at a time. If you Mega Evolve a second Pokémon, the other one will return back to normal.
  • Shadow Pokémon cannot undergo a Mega Evolution.
  • Clone Pokémon cannot undergo a Mega Evolution.
  • Mega Evolutions will be listed in your Pokédex under the ‘Mega Pokédex’. So that’s another thing to collect!
  • There will be two new Medals added to the game – one for collecting Unique Mega Evolutions, the other for total Mega Evolutions.

HOW TO *MEGA EVOLVE* Your Pokémon in Pokémon GO! (MEGA Guide)

Currently, there are four new Mega Evolution Pokemon being added to Pokemon Go. These focus on classic Kanto Pokemon, with three of the four being starters:

  • Mega Venusaur
  • Mega Charizard X
  • Mega Beedrill

The first three starters will be available from Mega Raids, while Mega Beedrill comes from a new Special Research assignment.

Beedrill is the Pokemon were using to help introduce the feature through Professor Willow, Laura Warner, senior game designer at Niantic, told VG247.

Theres going to be a Research thatll help players understand a few of the steps for Megas, and along that path youll get enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve Beedrill a few times.

While there are 48 Mega Pokemon in total if you count the X and Y versions, Niantic is focussing on these four initially to avoid flooding the world map with a deluge of new raids. However, more Mega Evolutions are set to be released periodically.

We dont think its a good experience if theres like 10 different Raids that you want to do all at once – weve seen that in the past with Legendaries, Matthew Slemon, senior product manager at Niantic, said.

There are a ton of amazing Mega Pokemon, Warner added. We just really wanted to make sure that each one of the Megas gets their time to shine and trainers have time to battle them, earn the Mega Energy, Mega Evolve them and spend some time with them.

So we figured the best way to do that was start with a smaller batch and continue rotating in different Mega Pokemon.

Which Pokemon Can Mega Evolve

At the beginning, only four Pokemon will be able to Mega Evolve in Pokemon Go: Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill. Many more than that are capable of Mega Evolving in the mainline series, however, and Niantic says it will introduce additional Mega-Evolved forms to the game gradually to give each one a moment in the spotlight.

It’s unclear when more Mega Evolutions will arrive in Pokemon Go, but below you can see the full list of Pokemon that have Mega-Evolved forms in the mainline series:

  • Venusaur

Trainers,

It appears Mega Evolution has made its way to the world of Pokémon GO! It was observed in some regions, including the Kalos region, that certain Pokémon could reach an additional Evolutionary stage and gain incredible power for a limited time in battle. This became known as Mega Evolution. After some research, Professor Willow has documented some notable differences in how Mega Evolution works in the world of Pokémon GO.

What we know so far about Mega Evolution in Pokémon GO

Select Pokémon can Mega Evolve using a newly discovered resource called Mega Energy. You can collect this mysterious substance by completing Mega Raids, which are Raid Battles that feature Mega-Evolved Pokémon. It seems the faster you defeat a Raid Boss, the more Mega Energy youll receive for that Pokémon. You can Mega Evolve any of your Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill once you have enough of their corresponding Mega Energy! Some of these Pokémon are appearing in Mega Raids too. After youve Mega Evolved a Pokémon, the Mega Energy required to Mega Evolve that specific Pokémon will decrease from then onward. Please note that Shadow and Clone Pokémon cannot be Mega Evolved.
