Pokémon GO Battle League Season 8 kicks off on May 31 with a bunch of new cups and exciting rewards. Remember when Season 6 nerfed a bunch of moves? Well, Season 8 has buffed a few mostly Poison-type moves in order to rebalance the meta. Warning: Season 8 doesnt look great for Fairy-types.

Here are the full dates and rewards for GO Battle League Season 8:

• The Great League will run from Monday, May 31 at 13:00 PDT to Monday, June 14 at 13:00 PDT
• The Ultra League and its Premier Cup will run from Monday, June 14 at 13:00 PDT to Monday, June 28 at 13:00 PDT
• The Master League, Master League Classic, and the Element Cup will run from Monday, June 28 at 13:00 PDT to Monday, July 12 at 13:00 PDT . During this time, battling will reward twice as much Stardust
• Only Pokémon that can evolve and that are the first in their Evolutionary line will be eligible for this cup. True to its name, only Fire, Water, and Grass-type Pokémon are allowed. Pokémon of multiple types are allowed so long as one of their types is Fire, Water, or Grass. The CP limit will be 500

Once you reach level 5, visit a gym, and choose a team, you can do a few things, like battle other Pokemon from other Trainers. Victory. You and your team have done the hard work and taken down the Boss Pokemon. Balloons fall from the ceiling, the fireworks go off, and the credits roll. Not so fast. There are more rewards to be had. Once you beat the Boss, you and your group are rewarded with potions, revives, and coins. You also get Premier Balls, which are the only kind of Pokeball you can use to capture the Boss. The amount of Premier Balls awarded depends on how well you did in the battle, and they disappear after your attempt to capture the Boss is over, so you want to be careful and take your time. Make sure to use lots of berries to improve your chances. Once all the Premier Balls run out, the Boss Pokemon flees.

Looking for something other than these four, even if it has low DPS but still-ridiculous TDO? Consider Armored Mewtwo!

Should you have trouble finding a Mewtwo or a Shadow Mewtwo, you aren’t out options, though, as Metagross is one of the other best Pokemon in the game, and it’s a Psychic-type as well. Regular Metagross has been pushed down the list a bit by Shadow Pokemon, but it also received a Shadow form, making it one of the highest-reaching attackers in the entire game. With a DPS of 20.02 and TDO of just below a thousand, Shadow Metagross isn’t going to be stopped by much. The only issue with Psychic-attacker Metagross is that it has better use elsewhere. With a Steel-type moveset, Shadow Metagross launches itself even further up the charts, so it’s better to opt for that and leave the Psychic-type attacks to Mewtwo and the rest of the gang.

To activate this feature, you’ll need to accrue Mega Energy for the Pokemon you wish to evolve. The best way to score Mega Energy is by beating Mega Raids as fast as you can.

Pokemon Go: Best Electric

Legendaries and Megas reign supreme over the Electric-type category, with only Shadow Electivire managing to eke in. Still, with only one weakness and some amazing super effective damage against Flying- and Water-types, Electric-types can cover a lot of ground.

Among these Electric-types, Shadow Raikou is, without challenge, the best. Its max Attack is a bit lower than Zapdos’, but it doesn’t even matter with the amount of extra damage its moveset can do. Wild Charge outclasses Thunderbolt completely, and Raikou has more max Defense, meaning it’ll stick around a bit longer. Sure, Zapdos resists Electric’s only weakness in Ground, but it trades that out for weaknesses to Ice- and Rock-type moves.

On the topic of Zapdos even though it’s a bit behind Shadow Raikou, Zapdos’ Shadow variant is by no means way worse. It comes in a close second or third situationally, with less DPS than Sh. Raikou and Sh. Electivire, but more TDO than the latter. As we said, Zapdos negates Electric’s weakness to Ground, but it has a weakness to Rock and Ice instead, which can be good or bad, depending on what the situation is. Unfortunately, both Shadow Raikou and Shadow Zapdos are extremely hard to get your hands on, so if you don’t have them, you might have to settle for another Pokemon from this ranking.
