Can You Breed Shiny Pokemon

Tips For Shiny Hunting

Can you Breed For Shiny Pokemon Without Masuda Method!?pokemon Shield

You’ve got the basics of the Masuda method down, so here are some helpful tips that will make your hunt way smoother:

  • There are three abilities that play a crucial role in egg-hatching: Flame Body, Magma Armor, and Steam Engine. Having a Pokemon with this ability in the party will cut the time needed to hatch an egg in half. Many players use Talonflame because it can also use Fly.
  • The holy grail of Pokemon breeding is a 6 IV foreign-language Ditto it can breed with any Pokemon, it will pass on perfect IVs, and it will increase shiny odds while doing it.
  • Many Pokemon games feature a long stretch of land that the player can run/bike back and forth in to speed up Egg creation/hatching. In Pokemon X and Y, many players use the Prism Tower in Lumiose City to hatch eggs by putting a coin underneath their 3DS circle pad and letting it go in circles.
  • The Shiny Charm is a Key Item introduced in Pokemon Black 2 & White 2 which players can obtain after finishing the National/Regional Pokedex, depending on the game. This charm not only increases the rate of finding shinies, but stacks with the Masuda method, making it even more likely to hatch a shiny Pokemon.

If there’s a shiny Pokemon out there you’ve wanted for ages, consider this your sign to go forth and hatch dozens of eggs to get your dream shiny. Happy hatching!

What Are Square Shinies In Pokemon Sword And Shield

so apparently my Elephant is a rare square shiny or smth #PokemonSwordShield #NintendoSwitch pic.twitter.com/5uvgdb8u9y

You may have heard whispers of the elusive square shinies in Pokemon Sword and Shield, so let us shed some light on the situation. In an effort to add even more longevity to Galar by Game Freak, you can now find two types of shiny Pokemon standard and square. Standard shinies are the shiny Pokemon everyone knows and loves from previous games, while square shinies are brand new.

On paper, for every shiny encounter in the game, it has a 1/16 chance of being a square shiny instead of the standard. You’ll be able to tell whether it’s standard or square by the intro animation the usual stars will be replaced by square outlines, but the difference in colour palette is still the same. Don’t worry, square shinies aren’t a different shade!

It’s not quite as simple as that however. If you follow the chaining method explained above by catching or defeating 25 of the same Pokemon in a row, those 1/16 odds will be flipped. Instead, you’ll have 15/16 odds of finding a square shiny, and just 1/16 of the shiny being standard.

Ev Training With Jobs:

When you get to Hammerlocke you unlock new Poké Jobs that let you send your Pokémon to gain EVs, the amount of EVs depends on how long you send them out.

  • A little while: 1 hour = 4 EVs

  • Very short: 2 hours = 8 EVs

  • Short: 3 hours = 12 EVs

  • Long: 4 hours = 16 EVs

  • Very long: 8 hours = 32 EVs

  • Half-day: 12 hours = 48 EVs

  • Whole day: 24 hours = 96 EVs

What Does ‘shiny Lock’ Mean

Shiny locking is a new feature that was originally added to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu, and Let’s Go, Eevee, and has been carried over into Pokémon Sword and Shield. This means that it is impossible to find the starter Pokémon along with the two legendary Pokémon in shiny forms out in the wild. Additionally, any Pokémon given as gifts cannot be shiny either, so the Charmander that you will eventually receive during your playthrough won’t be shiny either.

Can You Soft Reset For Hatching Eggs

Can You Breed Shiny Pokemon

Yes but this isnt the most optimal way of hatching shinies as it actually takes a longer time to go through the process.

Soft Resetting for eggs is when you save prior to receiving the egg from the Nursery worker. Once the egg is picked up everything about that Pokemon is predetermined. To Soft Reset an egg hatching you would have to save before picking up the egg and hatch the egg without saving between these two things happening. If the egg does not hatch into what you want you can reload your save file and receive the egg again for another chance however in most cases by the time you have received the egg and hatched it you will have already been able to receive at least one more egg from the Nursery giving you another chance anyway, which is why this method isnt really useful.

Thatâs all there is to know about the Masuda Egg Hatching Method in Pokemon Sword and Shield. For more ways to improve your Shiny Hunting odds, please refer to our full Pokemon Sword & Shield Shiny Hunting Guide.

Get The Shiny Charm & Oval Charm

The first step to breeding for shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Sword/Shield is obtaining the shiny charm. The shiny charm is an item that increases the odds of catching or hatching a shiny Pokemon in the games.

To get a shiny charm, you must have all Pokemon registered in your Pokedex as caught. Once thats done, follow this guide to get the shiny charm .

The oval charm increases the chance of the Daycare Lady giving you an egg and it can be obtained in the same building where you get the shiny charm .

What Are Shiny Pokmon

Shiny Pokémon are essentially fancy, rare versions of the monsters you see throughout your adventure. They usually have a distinctively different colouring to the ‘normal’ variant, although sometimes the changes are very subtle.

While they don’t necessarily have any extra strength for competitive battles, they are often sought after by Pokémon fans as a way to show off – after all, having something that’s rare and hard to find has always been cool, ever since Pokémon cards started to be traded in the playground.

In this image below, you can see a regular Wooloo on the left, and its shiny variant on the right. Almost all Pokémon can be found in Shiny form, although there are a few exceptions. When a Shiny Pokémon is found in the wild, you’ll notice that one of two sparkle animations will appear around the Pokémon at the start of the battle, and you’ll also see a special shiny marker on its Summary page when you catch it.

Be Prepared For Battle

So, you’ve got your Shiny Charm and you’ve battled roughly three billion Wooloo, finally stumbling across a rare Shiny one. Time to catch it th- Oh no! You’ve not got any Poké Balls!

This might go without saying, but make sure you’re prepared for when a Shiny Pokémon shows up. Stock up on the best Poké Balls for the ‘mon you’re hunting – Ultra Balls should work well in most cases – and have plenty of healing items with you just in case.

You’ll also want to think about which Pokémon to use to battle the Shiny you’ve just found. One popular choice is Gallade, a Pokémon which can learn both Thunder Wave and False Swipe . Some abilities may come in useful, too Quagsire has the ability ‘Damp’, for example, which prevents wild Pokémon from using attacks like Explosion or Self Destruct.

The last thing you want is for your Shiny Pokémon to run away, wipe itself out with Explosion, or for you to defeat it in battle. Who knows how long it’ll be until you find another one?

How To EASILY Breed For Shiny Pokemon – Masuda Method & Fast Breeding Guide

For those confused or unaware, every Pokemon in the game has an alternate palette or coloring that is much rarer and harder to obtain than its normal palette. These Pokemon not only look different, but also visibly sparkle any time they are sent into battle.

So if shiny Pokemon are only different in aesthetics, why are they so coveted? Well, a shiny’s rarity and uniqueness offers a lot to players looking for an extra challenge to pursue, as well as bragging rights. This is because obtaining shinies is notoriously difficult.

In their introduction in Generation II, the odds of randomly encountering a shiny Pokemon in the wild were 1/8192, or roughly 0.012% chance. To introduce the concept of shinies to players, the shiny red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage was included in Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal.

There are some Pokemon that are intentionally more likely to be shiny, such as the Odd Egg in Pokemon Crystal. Conversely, there are some Pokemon that can never be shiny, such as certain legendaries or starter Pokemon. These are referred to as “shiny-locked.” Finally, there are methods to increase the odds of encountering or hatching shiny Pokemon that players have figured out through hard gaming and sleuthing.

Pokmon Breeding The Basics

Breeding always requires two Pokémon usually one male and one female, but its also possible to pair a male, female or genderless Pokémon with a Ditto to produce Eggs. Again with the exception of Ditto , the two Pokémon will need to be in the same Egg Group. Egg Groups include the likes of Grass, Bug, and Fairy, but arent always connected to type theres also groups like Monster and Amorphous. Many Pokémon also belong to more than one group.

If you breed two Pokémon of different species, the Egg will generally hatch into the same species as the mother, unless one of the parents is Ditto . Theres also the Undiscovered Egg Group, containing Pokémon that are completely unable to breed, such as Legendary Pokémon and Baby Pokémon. While all this may seem complicated, the Nursery workers will inform you if the Pokémon youve left with them are incompatible – this’ll look something like the image below!

What Does The Pixelmon Breeding Process Look Like

Before two Pokémon have the ability to breed with each other, they must first become compatible in a variety of ways. They first have to be compatible in terms of breeding rules. Next, they have to love each other. The way you get them to love each other is by placing them in an environment thats suitable and big enough for them. IF there arent enough blocks for both parents to be happy and fall in love, the breeding process will not take place.

The moment both of the parent Pokémon are happy with their environment, they will automatically fall in love with each other and begin to like each other. You can gauge this by looking at the color of their hearts. Once red hearts are achieved, the breeding process begins and an egg will be produced.

In total, we have five level of hearts:

Level
N/A

The minute both of the Pokemon reach their highest level of affection, the Egg is produced, which will immediately show up by being dropped in the Ranchs Block. Your next step to claim the egg is to open up the Ranch Bock interface and obtain it.

Once youve obtained it, the egg will go into your party or your PC, depending on whether or not your party has reached its maximum capacity. The two parent Pokemon will reset their affection level and if left unchecked, the breeding process will simply restart again.

Do not try to destroy the ranch block for any reason during the breeding process as it will cancel the process and the Pokemons affection level toward each other.

Mechanics Missing From Generation 2

Many mechanics that breeders rely on to make the process as easy as possible simply have not been added yet as of these games. Destiny Knots functionality is gone as well as Everstones since natures did not exist yet. Abilities also did not exist, so there are two layers of the breeding process that a breeder will no longer have to consider in GSC versions. Consequently there is no Flame Body Ability to make Eggs hatch faster.

For Shiny hunters, there is no Shiny Charm. The Masuda Method also does not work, although trading locally for a foreign Pokémon would be a major hassle even if it did. There is also no kind of DexNav/SOS chaining to rely on. If you are unfamiliar with any of these mechanics, do not worry as they do not exist in these older games!

Increase Your Breeding Odds Using The Masuda Method

Finally, Niantic launched breeding

The Masuda Method is a technique for breeding Shiny Pokemon which has been present in the series since Generation 3. When two Pokemon of different countries of origin are brought to a Nursery, their chances of producing a Shiny egg increase significantly.

In comparison to the usual 1/4096 rate for breeding Shinies, the Masuda Method results in an increase to a whopping 1/683 odds. Still few and far between, but that’s progress, right? As this method relies on breeding, it can be said to be more effective for encountering Star Shinies.

Players often seek to find foreign Dittos for this reason, as Dittos are extremely useful for breeding Pokemon with high IVs, so a foreign Ditto, especially one with high IVs itself, is a must for players hoping to breed a Shiny ready for online competitive play. How To Breed Shiny Pokmon

Breeding a Shiny is a little bit different. A lot of people will use the Masuda Method, which was named after Game Freaks Junichi Masuda. Masuda was the director who added the feature to the game. This method requires getting a parent Pokémon from a player who plays the game in another language and breed it. When using Pokemon from two different language games, a Shiny Pokémon is six times more likely to hatch from the eggs. However, there is still some debate as to what effects this Shiny rate. Some players feel its not necessarily language, but rather region that is the determining factor. However, the Masuda Method definitely increases the chances of hatching a shiny.

The easiest way to hatch a Shiny Pokémon is to get your hands on a foreign Ditto. Catch a Ditto from your region and find someone in another country with a Ditto theyre willing to trade. This way, every Pokémon you breed from here on our will have the Masuda Methods chances behind it.

How To Get The Pokemon Sword And Shield Shiny Charm

The Pokemon Sword and Shield Shiny Charm is a simple concept once you have it in your bag, the chance of each encounter being a shiny Pokemon is increased. Question is, how do you get the Shiny Charm? You’re going to want it before you even start shiny hunting, and it’s not easy.

To get the Shiny Charm, your first goal is to… complete the Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex. Yep, you need to catch every single one of the 400 Pokemon in the game. You’ll need to do some trading to make it happen thanks to the various Pokemon Sword and Shield differences, but it needs to happen before you can get your hands on the Shiny Charm.

Once your Galar Pokedex is at 400/400, head to Circhester. Enter the west door of Hotel Ionia, go up the elevator, then enter the room on the far left. You should’ve spoken to the Director once before now in order to get the Catching Charm, but now you’ve completed the Pokedex, he’ll reward you with the Shiny Charm. Result.

Switch Off These Settings

Breeding Pokemon and hatching eggs for hours or days can be a pain and can quickly get boring. You can turn off the following settings to make collecting eggs faster instead of having to manually press buttons to cancel prompted screens.

Settings that are being turned OFF:

  • Nicknaming Pokemon after theyre hatched.
  • Choosing where to send Pokemon after obtaining them.

How to turn OFF these settings:

  • Press the X button to bring up the menu.
  • Choose Options.
  • Scroll down to Send to Boxes and switch it to Automatic.
  • Scroll down to Give Nicknames and switch to Dont give.
  • Exiting the screen will ask you if you want to save changes. Save, of course.
  • It does not increase your chances of hatching a shiny Pokemon, however, it makes the experience less of a pain as you will no longer find yourself having to cancel extra screens after hatching each egg.

Fight The Same Pokemon To Improve Odds For Hunting In The Wild

How To EASILY Breed For Shiny Pokemon – Masuda Method & Free JPN Ditto

The game will track the total number of Pokemon of a certain species caught or defeated by the player. As this number increases, the chances of the player encountering a Shiny version of that Pokemon will increase accordingly. However, running away from a battle with that Pokemon will prevent the number from increasing.

Number caught/defeated in a row Shiny encounter rate change
    6x 1/683

For example, if a player catches or defeats Eevee 500 times any time during their playthrough, their chances of encountering a Shiny Eevee will be multiplied by 6, for a total odds of 1/683, or equivalent to that of the Masuda Method. Unlike some previous games which featured a Chaining mechanic to improve the rate of encountering Shinies, this method references the total number of battles with that Pokemon.

As this method relies on catching Pokemon in the wild, it can be said to be more effective for hunting for Square Ultra Shinies.

Check your number of encounters from the Pokedex

On the Pokedex screen from the menu, you can check the number of times you’ve encountered every Pokemon in the Number Battled field. This number is the same one used by the game to calculate the Shiny rate, so it’s a useful reference for hunting.
