Pokmon Skyridge Hologram Charizard #146 $4150

Pokemon Cards for Sale with Mega Charizard EX

A Note On Pricing And Condition:

The examples throughout this text all utilize the Pokémon Charizard, who typically fetches the highest prices of any Pokémon from these early sets. Those looking to sell their collections should not expect Charizard-level pricing for other cards from these sets. While other Pokémon, like Blastoise and Venusaur, carry decent value, none approach the level of Charizard.

The pricing examples all note that the estimated retail pricing reflects a card in Near Mint condition. Finding cards from this era in Near Mint condition can be quite difficult. Pokémon cards are essentially pieces of a game, and many became treasured possessions of children who took them to school in their pockets to show off and trade. As a result, cards frequently show significant wear, which significantly affects their value. Unless exclusively stored in binders and played with in card sleeves , there are few Near Mint examples in circulation. In addition, cards that came from a household with heavy cigarette smoke, or that were stored in a damp attic or garage in the intervening years, can have a lowered value, even if the card physically appears otherwise Near Mint.

If you are considering selling your cards to a store, expect a much lower price than the retail price as stores would typically only pay between 30% and 60% of the retail value of an item.

Pokemon Japanese Promo Daisuki Club 7200 Points Holo Umbreon

Sold in June, 2021 for $18,100

The Pokemon Daisuki Club started in 2004 and provided many benefits to its members, such as mini-games, contests, and special offers.

One of those cards was this holographic Umbreon card, and to earn it, the player needed to acquire 7,200 action points, which was no easy task.

Umbreon is one of eight different characters into which Eevee, a normal-type Pokemon, can evolve when leveled up with high friendship during the night in certain areas.

Its red eyes and the yellow markings on its slender black body give the dark-type Umbreon an unmistakable appearance giving this card tremendous eye appeal.

Neo Destiny Shining Charizard Pokmon Card Holographic #: $22700

Pokemon HD: Charizard Pokemon Cards For Sale

Looking at the 2002 Neo Destiny Shining Charizard, you will immediately notice the character on the card. Not only is this the obvious focal point, but its holographic while the background is not. Typically the reverse is true, with a matte character sitting on a holo-background. This unusual reverse setup was an innovation of Wizards of the Coast. PSA Collector points out that these highly sought-after cards represent the last year Wizards of the Coast used the First Edition logo. Furthermore, this is the last set out of the four Neo sets they released. The population report shows a mere hundred and eighty-four of these cards in perfect Gem Mint condition. However, only around four hundred and forty have even been sent for grading, and most of those were play-damaged.

Pokemon Neo Destiny 1st Edition Shining Charizard

Sold in January, 2021 for $20,250

The fourth main expansion of the Neo Series, Neo Destiny, is notable for featuring both “light” and “dark” Pokémon whose characteristics and “destiny” are reflective of how a Trainer trains them.

Light Pokémon are caring and bright-spirited, while dark Pokémon are the exact opposite.

Dark Pokémon have appeared in several different series, but the Neo Destiny set is the only one in which you will find the light Pokémon.

Charizard appears as neither light nor dark in Neo Destiny but instead as a special Shining Charizard that gets its name from the unique foil design that glimmers and shines in the light.

The Shining Pokémon in this series also feature a unique rarity symbol in the lower right in the form of three stars.

Rare Pokmon Card Sells For Record Price At Auction To Rapper Logic

A first edition Charizard Pokémon card sold at a record price at a total of over $220,000 to rapper Logic, who loved Pokémon cards as a kid.

A mint condition Pokémon card broke records at an auction sale, and the person to claim the Charizard card was none other than rapper Logic. The oldest Pokémon cards have been regularly put on sale at many auctions, and collectors have been more than willing to bid high amounts of cash just to get their hands on these elusive, rare cards.

Out of all the Pokémon cards out there, the holographic Charizard cards are among the rarest. The famous Charizard cards were in some of the first series of released cards. That coupled with the iconic status of the starter Pokémon has made this card sell for extremely high amounts of cash online and at auctions. They can go as cheap as $20,000 online, while the rarest Charizard cards have been sold for more than $100,000, and now that record has been smashed once again thanks to this sale.

This is now the new world record for the highest sale for this particular Charizard card. Logic later posted a video on his of him opening a 1999 base set booster box that he purchased separately for $23,000. In the post, he talks about how he loved Pokémon cards as a kid but couldnt afford them, saying:

How To Know If Your Charizard Pokmon Card Is Rare And Valuable Or Not

Charizard

Paul Tassi

Time is a flat circle, and it seems like just yesterday I was spending my allowance every week on Pokémon cards in junior high. Well, now Pokémon cards, and opening them on Twitch streams and in YouTube videos, are all the rage again, and it turns out some of those cards you got as a kid may be valuable today, if you kept themand kept them in good shape.

Wading into the exact valuation of all Pokémon cards is a swamp that its hard to emerge from, so I thought Id focus on one particular type of card which was coveted when I was a kid. I saved it because I thought it might be worth something someday, and it turns out I was right. Well, depending on which version you have.

Here is a gradient scale on which of the old school Charizard cards are the most and least valuable. Exact figures for selling prices are hard to pin down. The low end might be a few hundred, the higher end for the rarest Charizard editions can be tens of thousands, if not over $100K for true perfection. The prices below are estimates and again, its a wide range. If yours isnt here at all, it may be too common to be worth all that much. These cards are also usually PSA 9-10 graded meaning they have to be in stellar condition, not just sitting in a shoebox somewhere, in order to see these ranges of prices.

Pokemon Japanese Promo Family Event Holo Kangaskhan Trophy Card

Sold in October, 2020 for $150,100

Another holy-grail trophy card, the 1998 Japanese Promo Kangaskhan Family Event card, continues to be one of the rarest and most desirable of all Pokemon cards.

This card is especially interesting compared to other trophy cards because teams consisting of a parent and child battled each other to obtain it, which was an admirable effort to build family bonding.

Fittingly, the tournament organizers chose none other than Kangaskhan, a kangaroo-like Pokemon with a baby Kangaskhan in her pouch, as the trophy card mascot.

Just 47 examples have made their way across PSA’s grading table, with eleven assessed in PSA 10 condition.

Pokemon Rocket 1st Edition Dark Charizard #21

It has the same card format as the release above, although this time the Pokemon has his back turned, staring at you out of the corner of his eye. As always, mint versions and above are the best investment pieces.

The Shining Charizard is another variation, this time from the 2002 Neo Destiny release. As with the original, its a first edition card, which is denoted by a star found on the right of the card name. It also has a Base 1st Edition stamp towards the middle.

Theyve stuck with the same card design, so theres an orange background and a yellow border, with an image of a Chrome Shining Charizard as it flies through the air.

Fast forward 17 years, to the Sun & Moon Hidden Fates release. You can see the power creep, as the Pokemon now has a 300 damage attack, along with 250 HP. The image of Charizard takes up the entire card, and PSA 10 versions will sell for a four-figure fee.

Its a great modern option and could be as popular as the original in years to come.

This card typifies the evolution of Pokemon cards over the years, with a modern feel to this tag-team edition. The giant fire lizard is joined by Braixen, in a beautiful holo release that features an illustration of the duo together.

Its ridiculously condition-sensitive, and its already worth a fair amount when looking at gem mint copies.

Pokemon Spanish First Edition Charizard

Shining Charizard GX Custom Pokemon Card ZabaTV

Sold in October, 2020 for $35,100

To help promote the Pokemon Trading Card Game throughout the world, Wizards of the Coast printed the base set in several different languages.

The Spanish version offered native Spanish speakers throughout Europe and Latin America a much more enjoyable way to play their favorite card game.

You can see the Spanish translation throughout this card, but the Spanish version does leave the name “Charizard” as-is.

Other versions, such as the French and German, presented the Charizard character with a unique name altogether.

To verify the card is indeed a First Edition, look to the lower-left of the character box and you will find the “Edicion 1” symbol.

Just seven examples of this card have achieved a PSA 10 grade, making it one of the toughest multi-language First Edition Charizards to find in that condition.

Japanese Base Set Charizard : $57877

Just as coin collectors place particular value on coins that are misprinted, so do card collectors. A rare or old item is valuable, but one with minor cosmetic flaws from the factory, which few or no other copies possess, is truly unique. The 1996 Japanese Base Set Charizard with no rarity symbol is one of these unusual cases. Additionally, the copy of this card that sold at this price was in PSA 10 condition. As cards age, it is increasingly rare for them to achieve this distinction unless theyre kept in untouched protective cases. A single bend, wrinkle, or factory flaw that isnt a misprint, like being slightly off-center, will prevent the card from gaining this label. Additionally, as PSA explains on its site he grading is also subjective for the graders who must make judgment calls on specific aspects of card condition and appeal.

Black Star Ishihara Gx Promo Card

Pokémon Cards For Sale! Charizard? PSA 10?!? Shadowless?

Sold in April, 2021 for $247,230

As a gift to top-level employees, Tsunekazu Ishihara, president of The Pokémon Company, gave out an estimated thirty copies of this card during his 60th birthday party at the 2018 Pokémon World Championship.

As of this writing, only eight copies have ever been submitted to PSA for grading, making this one of the rarest Pokemon cards in existence.

Making this particular example even rarer is the fact that Ishihara personally signed it as well.

The artwork on the card is fantastic and the “60 Congratulations!” and GX attack of 1060 damage are nice touches to help commemorate his 60th birthday.

Ishihara has been instrumental, to say the least, in building the Pokémon brand by contributing to the development of multiple video games and even initiating the creation of the Pokémon Trading Card Game itself.

Shining Charizard 1st Edition

Earlier, we discussed the introduction of shiny Pokemon and how it simply made Charizard cooler. In the 2002 NEO Destiny 1st edition set, there was a card titled Shining Charizard that captured the black-scaled iconic Pokemon in all of its elegance and stoicism.

A PSA 10 graded version of the card has sold at its highest for around $22,000. The NEO Destiny set was the last one that the card manufacturer, Wizards of the Coast, used the 1st edition logo for on any of their Pokemon products â an interesting legacy for an equally interesting trading card.
