Charizard X And Y Pokemon Go

Must read

Pokmon X Mega Evolutions

Mega Raid Charizard X and Y, Blastoise and more in Pokemon Go.

So, while Pokémon X and Y technically has every single Pokémon since the series inception, it only has a handful of Mega Evolutions. However, since the mechanic has now been introduced, its safe to assume subsequent installments in the franchise will build upon the new evolution mechanic. It would probably be best to evolve em all this time around, so you can fill out your Pokédex now and not have to worry about it in later installments.

How To Find Mega Charizard Y In Pokemon Go

Mega Charizard Y has begun to appear as part of raid battles. Fortunately for players, Mega Charizard Y is easily taken down by Rock-type Pokemon. Rock-type moves do 4x damage to Mega Charizard Y so bringing over Pokemon like Tyranitar and Omastar is the best way to go for this raid battle. Also, make sure to play with at least 7 other trainers to make it easier to take down. Raid battles are a team effort after all. Once the battle is over, the player then just needs to capture Mega Charizard Y in the Premier Balls they are given. That’s how players can capture their own Mega Charizard Y.

Mega Evolutions has been an excellent mechanic to bring older Pokemon back with new skin. Even Pokemon that weren’t super viable like Mawile and Heracross were given a new chance to become stronger than ever. It is likely Z-Moves, a mechanic from Pokemon Sun and Moon will make a return in Pokemon Go. It continues to be the best game for players to play on mobile right now.

Pokemon Go is available now on iOS and Android.

Pokemon Go Charizard Y

Mega Charizard Y, unlike X, does remain the same Fire and Flying-type as a regular Charizard. Therefore, it still has the same weaknesses, including a double weakness to Rock types. Exploiting that type advantage is going to be your driving force in developing your strategy and lineup. Its other weaknesses are Electric and Water, but should only be thought of as a backup plan for last resorts.

Mega Charizard Y has the moveset you would expect from a Charizard, including Air Slash and Fire Spin for fast attacks. Its charged moves are mostly typical, Fire Blast and Overheat, but it also has Dragon Claw. This could be a dangerous move since it won’t be countered by your Rock-type’s advantage.

Weather won’t play much of a role when you challenge a Mega Charizard Y because its double weakness is so extreme. Still, Sunny and Clear weather does boost its attack power, making it even more important to dodge as much as possible. Alternatively, Partly Cloudy weather is the best time for your Rock-type’s to shine, so take advantage of it when you can.

When you fight Mega Raid battles, which you need in order to secure some Mega Energy, you can encounter both Charizard X and Charizard Y. You dont have to change your attack plan much for Charizard Y, as it retains the originals Fire/Flying typing. But for Charizard X, the transformation actually gives Charizard the Dragon typing instead of Flying. But either way, when you defeat one in a Mega Raid, youll receive Mega Charizard Energy, just like when you defeat a Mega Venusaur or Mega Blastoise. Luckily, Pokemon GO opted for the easy approach for Mega Evolving your Charizard.

When you go to the Pokedex menu to Mega Evolve Charizard, you simply get an extra menu option that lets you choose which form you want. When you Mega Evolve for the first time, you get to choose the form, and that form will be added to your Pokedex. The evolution lasts for four hours, same as the other Mega Evolutions. There are no special conditions or other hoops to jump through its just an extra button.

In a more traditional matchup, Mega Charizard Y is a Fire/Flying-type and can be easily countered by Rock-types. It also hits on the special attack side, so it will be dealing a lot more damage in certain matchups.

Skipping Groudon, you can use Rhyperior, Tyranitar, and Rampardos to great effect against Mega Charizard Y because it is four-times weak to Rock-type attacks.

Zekrom would also be a great option here because it resists both of the STAB attack types from Mega Charizard Y thanks to its own Dragon/Electric-typing. Charge Beam and Wild Charge will be your best options here for moves, and make sure you have a solid defensive option in the back if you need to stall for time.

Other good options on both sides include Terrakion, Kabutops, Omastar, Kyogre, Gyarados, Vaporeon, Milotic, Suicune, and Swampert. That will likely vary, though, depending on the movesets you have available when preparing for the raid.

Once you complete your Mega Raid, you will have a chance to capture whichever Charizard you defeated and add it to your roster.

Pokmon X And Y: How To Get Every Mega Evolution

There aren’t that many Mega Evolutions in Pokémon X and Y, but there are probably more than you think, making it even more difficult to catch em all.

In order for a Pokémon to undergo a Mega Evolution, it needs to be holding a Mega Stone appropriate to its type, and the trainer needs to be wearing the Mega Ring. If both conditions are met and the Pokémon is able to mega evolve, then you can select the option from within a battle to trigger the Mega Evolution.

Only one Pokémon can mega evolve during a battle, but that isnt too bad of a limit considering the games random encounters run rampant, and triggering a Link Battle is easy enough. Each available Mega Evolution is listed below along with its corresponding Mega Stone location.

What Is Mega Charizard X In Pokmon Go

The final evolution of the Fire type starter from Gen I, fan favorite Charizard has two different Mega Evolutions: Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y. While Mega Charizard Y retains the typing of Charizard, Mega Charizard X exchanges it’s Flying type for the Dragon type it always deserved! One of the most challenging Raids yet, Mega Charizard X requires an entirely different strategy than Charizard or Mega Charizard Y.

How Mega Charizard X And Y Will Work In ‘pokmon Go’

When Mega Evolutions were introduced to the Pokémon franchise in 2013 Charizard was one of two special Pokémon who received two different Mega Evolutions, Mewtwo being the other.

Now that Mega Evolutions are making their way to Pokémon Go, Charizard fans will have the option of which of its two forms, Mega Charizard X or Mega Charizard Y, to Mega-Evolve into.

To Mega-Evolve your Pokémon trainers will have to battle Mega Evolved Pokémon in Mega Raids to earn enough Mega Energy to perform the transformation. For example, battling Mega Blastoise will earn Mega Blastoise Energy. However, it’ll be a little simpler for Charizard.

“With Charizard there will be only one Mega Energy and then trainers will be able to choose if they want to apply it to X or Y,” Laura Warner, Senior Game Designer for Pokémon Go, told Newsweek.

So whether trainers battle a Mega Charizard X or Mega Charizard Y in Mega Raids, they’ll be earning energy to Mega-Evolve their Charizard to whichever form they choose.

Warner explained to Newsweek that trainers will have to perform the Mega Evolution outside of battle, so that’s when trainers will choose between the two Charizards. With Mega Evolution being a temporary form change, trainers will be able to battle with both Mega Charizards.

It should be noted that Mega Evolutions won’t be able to participate in the Go Battle League, but trainers can use them against Team Go Rocket.

Mega Evolving Gets Easier The More You Do It

If you want to mega evolve a Pokémon again, youll have to go through the same process of collecting and using mega energy.

But the good news is that, if you mega evolve a Pokémon again, youll need less mega energy.

For example, a Mega Venusaur costs 200 mega energy on its first mega evolution, but only 40 mega energy next time.

But beware! This bonus only applies to thespecificPokémonyou mega evolved.

If you mega evolve your best Pidgeot into Mega Pidgeot, it will cost you 100 mega energy, but only 20 the second time.

But if you want to mega evolve another Pidgeot from your collection, it will cost you 100 mega energy.

To make things more complicated, Charizard can mega evolve into 2 different forms.

Youll be given a choice to mega evolve Charizard into either Mega Charizard X or Mega Charizard Y.

If you mega evolve Charizard into Mega Charizard X, the mega energy needed for future mega evolutions of that Pokémon will be reduced but only for that form.

You will need to evolve a Mega Charizard Y at full cost before you can reduce the mega energy cost to get that mega evolved form again.

If you trade a Pokémon that was previously mega evolved, it will keep its mega energy discount.

Bonus Candy From Catches

If a mega evolved Pokémon is your buddy, and you catch a Pokémon of the same species , youll get extra candy from your catch.

For example, if Mega Charizard X is your buddy and you catch Charmander, Charmeleon or Charizard in the wild, youll get extra candy.

But if you use a pinap berry, this does not multiply the candy bonus.

The world of Pokemon GO is all about the Mega Evolution hype right now. The first four Mega Evolutions have been released, along with all the mechanisms with which you need to evolve your Pokemon with this temporary power-up. The four options currently are Beedrill, which you can get for free by completing the new Special Research, and the three Kanto starters. And while Blastoise and Venusaur are both straightforward, Charizard is one of the rare Pokemon with two different Mega Evolution forms. So if both forms are available, how does it work in Pokemon GO?

The Advantages Of Having A Mega

So youve got an amazing mega evolution and the clock is ticking what now?

The most obvious benefit of mega evolving Pokémon is in battle, where they get boosted attacks and combat power .

But, in many cases, mega evolving a Pokémon can also change its type, which can give you a sly advantage in battle.

For example, Mega Charizard X is a fire and dragon type Pokémon. But the creature it evolved from, Charizard, is a fire and flying type.

To understand how Pokémon types can give you the upper hand in battle, check out our guide.

One thing that doesnt change about mega evolved Pokémon is their fast and charged attacks. These remain exactly the same.

Also remember that mega evolved Pokémon cant be powered up. To make your mega evolution kick ass, make sure to pump up the Pokémon it evolves from before squandering your mega energy.

Mega Charizard X Raid Guide

Mega Charizard X is one of the first Mega Pokémon to be introduced into Pokémon Go and is one of two forms. Charizard is one of two Pokémon to have two different mega forms, Mewtwo being the other . Charizards mega X form is like a budget Reshiram with a vastly different moveset . Mega Charizard X will finally be able to get STAB bonus from Dragon Claw and almost completely change its vulnerabilities. While, it still gains a considerable boost, Mega Charizard Y is the more powerful mega form in terms of sheer power. What makes Charizards mega X form so interesting is the change in secondary typing, from Flying to Dragon. Charizard is finally a dragon type!

Now that it is no longer Fire/Flying, it is no longer has a double weakness and is considerably more difficult to take down. This mega raid boss will require at least 3 trainers with max counters. Use 5-7 trainers if not using max counters or as many as you can to take it down faster, as speed is rewarded with extra mega energy.

Mega Charizard X is a Mega Tier Raid Boss, with a Raid Boss CP of 53260 and a dual Fire / Dragon typing. Charizard´s max capture CP is as follows:

  • 1651 CP
  • 2064 CP

How Meta Relevant Are Charizards Mega Evolutions In Pokmon Go

DPS-wise, Mega Blaziken will surpass Mega Charizard Y marginally owing to its 329 ATK stat.

However, Mega Charizard Y is bulkier and boasts of better TDO. This is very convenient in raid battles as Mega Charizard Y can last for a longer time, keeping the mega evolution power boost running for more time and sport nearly the same DPS as Mega Blaziken. Plus, Mega Charizard Ys typing grants it lesser weaknesses and more resistances. At the end of the day when the sun goes down, Mega Charizard Y will still remain the more viable Fire type mega evolution.

Mega Charizard X, on the other hand, cannot occupy a competitive position either as a Fire or a Dragon type.

As a Dragon type, Megas Rayquaza, Garchomp and Salamence will crush Mega Charizard X due to superior stats and better moveset.

Fun fact: Due to stat conversions and main series games stats, Mega Garchomp is a much more powerful Dragon than Mega Salamence even though base Salamence has a higher ATK stat than base Garchomp. Mega Salamence has an ATK stat of 310 in Pokémon Go while Mega Garchomp has an astronomical ATK stat of 339!

Mega Charizard X Counters

Compared to a normal Charizard, you will need to update your strategy against Mega Charizard X because it is no longer Fire/Flying-type. That means you cant use Electric-types to take it down quickly, but Rock-types have actually become more useful because now it is vulnerable to Ground-type attacks too.

Groudon is actually your best option here, as the Legendary Ground-type wont take super-effective damage from the Dragon and can hammer it with powerful moves like Earthquake. You wont want to only rely on Groudon, though, because even its defenses wont hold up forever against Mega Charizard X.

Your other best options are going to be powerful Rock-types like Rhyperior, Tyranitar, and Rampardos that can either take several hits or just lay into the Mega Evolved boss.

Rampardos is probably the worst option of the three because of its abysmal defenses. But if you just need something to quickly whittle the Dragon down, the combination of Smack Down, Rock Slide, or even Outrage can only help your cause.

Rhyperior is much bulkier and can handle almost all of the standard attacks Mega Charizard X will be dishing out. Tyranitar can also take the hits, but will hit a lot harder with its Smack Down and Stone Edge combo, but you really cant go wrong with any of these picks.
