Shiny Pokemon Appear On The Map But Not In Your Box

Now, I’ve mentioned that it’s very obvious when a shiny Pokemon spawns in Let’s Go, because you can literally see it’s a different colour to what it should be. However, that’s not entirely the case for your Pokemon Box. It won’t actually let you know which out of the 400 Zubats you just caught is your lovely green shiny one at all. That’s quite unlike Pokemon Go where you can see the colour difference of a shiny and it’s labelled with three little black stars. That means in Pokemon Let’s Go you run the risk of trading away or transferring your prized shiny by mistake. I’d recommend labelling it as a favourite, or slapping some kind of sticker on it to make sure it’s very obvious in your list as something special.

How To Catch A Shiny Gastly In Pokmon: Lets Go Pikachu And Pokmon: Lets Go Eevee

Poppy is the author of A Bard’s Lament and the Black Diamond series. She lives in Enoshima with her husband and young son.

The Let’s Go games on Nintendo Switch go beyond simply collecting badges and becoming Pokémon Champion. As well as finishing the story and completing the Pokédex, Nintendo has made it much easier to come across shiny Pokémon.

Shinies are extremely rare, coloured differently to their regular counterparts, and sometimes have great stats. Encountering a shiny in previous Pokémon game installments was very rare. In Let’s Go, however, it’s possible to encounter and catch shinies fairly easily, and it’s a fun and challenging aspect of post-story gameplay.

    My Shiny Gastly

Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are the only ghost-type Pokémon in the original 151. Gastly dwells in Lavender Town’s Pokémon Tower, where deceased Pokémon are laid to rest. You need the Silph Scope to catch Gastly and it’s recommended you finish the Lavender Town storyline quest first.

Getting shinies is, allegedly, easier once you’ve completed the Pokédex and obtained the Shiny Charm, but it’s possible to find shinies without it. Here’s a guide on finding and catching a shiny Gastly in Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee! and Pokémon Let’s Go: Pikachu!

Here Are The Catch Combo Rates For Catching Shinies:

Catch between zero and 10 Pokemon for shiny spawn rates of one in 4,096

Catch between 11 and 20 Pokemon for shiny spawn rates of one in 1,024

Catch between 21 and 30 Pokemon for shiny spawn rates of one in 512

Catch 31 or more Pokemon for shiny spawn rates of one in 314.3

The odds will further decrease if you combine your catch combo with a Lure or Super Lure or a Shiny Charm.

This might still seem like a lot but the odds are now better than they have ever been and you will actually see the shiny Pokemon when they spawn next to you.

How Do I Know A Pokmon Is Shiny

How to get a shiny Eevee or Pikachu in Pokémon Let

Fortunately, finding shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee is much easier than it’s ever been before because you can see Pokémon in the world with you rather than having to rely on random encounters. If you see a Pokémon that looks differently colored from the other, same species around it, it’s probably a shiny and you should immediately instigate an encounter with it. You can also see sparkles around that Pokémon before you enter the encounter, which is also a very obvious tell – though be sure to distinguish sparkles from the red and blue swirls indicating large and small-sized Pokémon.

Once you have encountered it, you’ll be able to get a better look at the Pokémon’s coloration, as well as see another sparkling animation when the encounter starts. You’ll catch a shiny just like any other Pokémon, but you may want to use extra Razz Berries and stronger Poké Balls, like a Great or Ultra Ball, to be sure it doesn’t flee.

Finally, shiny Pokémon will have a red star marker on their status screen once you catch them as a signifier that they are indeed shiny.

How To Get Shiny Pokemon In Pokemon Let’s Go: Maximizing Your Chances

The first way you can obtain yourself a shiny Pokemon or two in Pokemon Let’s Go is simply to, well, keep catching Pokemon. As we said back in the opening, there’s a 1 in 4096 chance you’ll find a shiny naturally, so there’s that. You’re really not going to want to have to deal with that chance all the time, however – that’d lead to you making thousands of Pokemon catches with fingers crossed – so we’ve got a few tips for increasing your chance of catching a shiny.

First off, remember that these methods all stack – so for your highest possible chance of getting a shiny you’ll want to combine a few of these bonuses. Remember that your rate of finding a shiny doesn’t really increase with each non-shiny Pokemon you see: so if your encounter chance is 1 in 4096, it’s always that with every new encounter – if you were to encounter 4095 non-shiny Pokemon in a row, there’s no guarantee that 4096th encounter would be shiny. You can turn the odds more in your favor, however, by employing these methods. Here they are:

  • These numbers are base numbers, before using a Lure and without the shiny charm. Theoretically, they could move a little higher still.
  • If you’re careful with this method, you can totally build up a shiny chain – encountering shiny after shiny repeatedly.
  • These numbers are according to our calculations based on in-game experiences and the hard work of Let’s Go data-miners – we’ll update it with more absolute, concrete numbers if they emerge.
  • Using Catch Combos For Shiny Pokemon In Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee And Pikachu

    • Catch Combo 1-10: 0 Perfect IVs and a 1/4,096 shiny chance
    • Catch Combo 11-20: 2 Perfect IVs and a 1/1024 shiny chance
    • Catch Combo 21-30: 3 Perfect IVs and a 1/512 shiny chance
    • Catch Combo 31+: 4 Perfect IVs and 1/341.3 shiny chance

Those concerned about breaking the combo should note that they can select ‘Run’ from a wild encounter and still maintain their chain if they accidentally walk into a different creature and kickstart an unplanned battle. They can also battle other trainers without destroying the Catch Combo. In fact, after hitting 31 chained captures, players are free to walk around until a shiny Pokemon spawns. And, since they appear in the overworld as shinies, eager collectors will be adding these sparkly variants to their team in no time.

Players patient enough to hold off on shiny hunting until they’ve completed the game can further increase the odds with an items called the Shiny Charm that can be obtained after they’ve finished their Pokedex. Additionally, the odds can be heightened even more if trainers use a Lure, which only raises the chances for a shiny for anyone following the Catch Combo guidelines to 1/315.08.

Of course, if a user has a Catch Combo of 31, is using a lure, and has the Shiny Charm then the odds of finding a shiny Pokemon becomes 1 in 273.07. Understandably, that’s considerably better than 1 in 4,096, so this is an important tip for Pokemon Let’s Go players. Now, go on and catch ’em all… again.

    What Are Shiny Pokemon

Shiny Pokemon have become highly coveted. This is despite not offering any additional benefit when it comes to battles.

Shiny Pokemon are simply a collectors item due to their rarity. Nevertheless, shiny Pokemon are very much sought after to the point where there are actual collectors of shinys among Pokemon fans.

How To Catch Shiny Pokemon In Pokemon Lets Go

How to get the SHINY CHARM in Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee!

The odds of catching shiny Pokemon have always been stacked against the player but this time around there seems to be rhyme and reason to the process.

Catching shinies is still an incredible grind but chaining Pokemon through combos adds a degree of predictability to the affair.

Typically, your odds of encountering a shiny Pokemon are abysmally low about one in 4,096.

But by chaining up to 31 Pokemon in a row you can decrease the odds down to one in 341.3 and potentially even lower.

And the odds will stick with you regardless of whether or not you travel around the world map, meaning you will not lose your combo if you fly from one town to another.

Using Lures To Boost Shiny Spawn Chances

Lures are something that people use wrong all the time. Think of Pokemon Go: your drop a Lure at a PokeStop and wait for the Pokemon to come to you, dont you? Running around like a maniac just uses up the Lure. While youll encounter more Pokemon in a shorter period of time, youll burn through Lures like someone addicted to grapes burns through pants. Also, lots of Pokemon will spawn behind you after your trailblazing trajectory has already left them for dust. What if theyre your shiny?

Drop a Lure and be patient. If youre in a confined area like a cave, only move to dodge Pokemon that are annoying you. As well as being an effective shiny hunting method, this will teach you patience. The exceptions to this are surfing and flying. Unless you find a nice, narrow cove then youre better off actually moving with your lure on. The whole body of water is a spawn area, unlike patches of grass that are located beside paths. Youll find loads more Pokemon this way. Well worth the Lure. When youre flying, you can actually do some interesting things in relation to what Im about to get to next.

How To Keep You Pokemon Catch Combo Going

If you aim to keep your combo as high as possible while you are hunting for shinies or want to reap the benefits of EXP multipliers, there are a few things to look out for.

    1. Catch combos only increase if you keep catching the same Pokemon over and over again. If you are chaining Ponytas, for instance, and you decide to catch its evolution Rapidash, the chain is broken.

    2. If a Pokemon runs away before you can catch it the chain is broken. One of the most frustrating things to see is a Pokemon dash away just when you were about to hit a massive catch combo. At the same time, if you decide to run away from the encounter, you will not lose your combo.

    3. You will lose the combo if you turn off the game or your Nintendo Switchs battery dies on you. Putting your console into sleep mode or dipping into the main menu will not affect you catch combo.

How Many Do I Need In My Combo Chain

Officially, you have hit the highest chance of finding a shiny after a chain of 31 of any Pokémon . However, Gastlys are easy to find catching many of them will make it easier to snag the shiny and also reward you with Gastly Candies.

I recommend you catch at least 100 and then run into/run away from any non-shiny Gastlys you encounter from then on. Don’t just let them wander and then disappear, because the same one might come back.

When you see a shiny, RUN TO IT! They don’t hang around forever! Again, the second-highest floor is a decent place to do this because it’s easier to see them and run into them before they disappear.

It’s recommended you use an Ultra Ball to get your shiny. If you like, you can use a Razz Berry, but it’s not necessary.

Hunting a shiny can take hours and hours, but it’s so rewarding when you find one! Having a Gengar on your team is great, and it makes it all the more special when it’s a rare one! Follow these steps and you’ll be the proud owner of a shiny Gastly in no time.

    Pokemon Lets Go Shiny Guide

You may have entire teams of Level 100, max IV monsters in Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee, but are they shiny? If not, why not?

Shiny Pokemon are just like their regular counterparts except theyre, well, shiny. Rather than taking on a metallic glint, these special Pokemon are color-swapped. For instance, a shiny Cubone is green. Green isnt exactly shiny, but green Cubone is still shiny Cubone. These creatures are rarer – and so far more coveted.

Anyway, Pokemon Lets Go has completely reinvented shiny hunting because the game actually addresses it as a thing. The Shiny Charm that the Game Director in Celadon City gives you after you complete the Pokedex attests to this – it is designed to increase your chances of encountering a shiny Pokemon in the wild.

While shinies have always been available, Nintendo has finally decided to come out and say, Heres a thing for you shiny hunters. However, the Shiny Charm isnt the only thing you can use to better your chances of encountering shinies.

Here are some of the best techniques for catching shinies in Pokemon Lets Go:

    Don’t Forget To Keep Saving

Because of the amount of things that can break your combo, it’s worth saving your game every five or so catches, to ensure that you don’t lose your entire progress if anything goes wrong. And yes, I am speaking from experience

With all of that you should be armed with enough knowledge to bag a shiny. What I can’t give you though is all the patience that you’ll need for that shiny to spawn. Good luck trainers!

    Pokemon Lets Go Catch Combo

Building a catch combo in Pokemon Lets Go is simple: all you need to do is catch multiples of the same Pokemon in a row. Every time you do, youll build a up your combo, giving you a variety of boosts and bonuses that help you throughout your Kanto journey.

Thanks to Reddit detectives, we know that the benefits from catch combos are capped at a streak of 31, as well as a lot of the specific stats behind what you can get from combos.

Its also worth noting that the bonuses that you get for running up a streak only apply to the next Pokemon that would continue that streak – you cant transfer to another type of Pokemon. For instance, if youre trying to catch a perfectly IVd Kangaskhan, you cant catch 31 Venonat and apply that combos bonuses to the next Kangaskhan you see.

    Catch Combo exp bonuses

The most obvious plus point for building a catch combo is the bonus exp that you gain for each Pokemon caught. This can make catch combos an effective method for grinding experience points for weaker team members to level them up quickly. Youre not going to be able to consistently catch new Pokemon to get that exp bonus, but you will be able to keep a catch combo going quite easily.

Combine this boost with the Technique Bonus you get from catching Pokemon using the Joy-Con controls while your Switch is docked for even better results.
