Should I Wait To Evolve Magikarp

Now that you know what level does Magikarp evolve, the question is should you do it right away or not. The answer is really up to you. There are certain factors to this, and one of them could be the game. Another factor is your Pokemon lineup and well take a look at Pokemon FireRed or LeafGreen. Lets say you didnt choose Squirtle and you need a good Water-type. You can access Magikarp as early as Mt. Moon.

This is a situation where you may want to evolve Magikarp right away so you can get a Gyarados and make it as your strong Water-type considering you cant catch any other Water-types until a little bit later on. Thats just FireRed and LeafGreen because the other games can vary because they can have their own lineup of Water-types accessible earlier on in the game.

How To Evolve Pokemon In Pokemon Quest

Once you hit a certain level, your pokemon will evolve automatically. This level varies for each pokemon, but seems to be the same as the evolution level from previous games. Youll gain extra HP and ATK stats after levelling up, so evolving your pokemon is a good way to make them stronger. The only pokemon that evolves differently is Eevee, find all the details in our Pokemon Quest Eevee Evolution Guide

To stop pokemon from evolving in Pokemon Quest, you can give it an everstone. This is an available option for every pokemon, and you dont have to collect everstones like in other games. Instead, select a pokemon and click the OFF tab in the top right hand corner. This will then switch to ON as you will have given that pokemon an everstone. This pokemon will now no longer evolve. If you change your mind later on and want to evolve a pokemon, just select ON. Weve included an image below pointing out exactly which button to press in the character menu. Your pokemon will then evolve at the next level, given youve reached the evolution level already.

How To Evolve Magikarp Into Gyrados

Now its time for the final step in the process. Open up your Training Sodas, start up your food generators, and start leveling up your Magikarp. The goal here is to reach level 20. You can take a look at our guide on how to level up fast to see how you can level up the easiest. But basically youre just going to want to start feeding, training, and even complete league matches. All of these things will give you the experience and JP that you need to level up, and once you reach level 20, Magikarp will evolve into Gyrados, thereby making itself useless to your journey.

The good news is that you will complete a quest, which will reward you with 10 Diamonds. The bad news is youll have to get another Magikarp and your Gyrados will be retired. Dont worry, though, if you didnt use a special Magikarp, then you shouldnt lose out on much.

Getting to level 20 in the early stages of the game will be impossible. Because of this, players will want to make their way through quite a few Magikarps before they try to evolve into Gyrados. It will take a while, but the 10 Diamonds that you receive are a worthy enough reward, not to mention the fact that you get to have a Gyrados in your care for at least a few moments.

    How To Prepare To Evolution

The first thing you need to do to evolve your Magikarp is break its Everstone. An Everstone keeps your Magikarp from evolving to its next evolution, and in order to evolve to Gyrados, youre going to need to break this stone before getting started. Players can easily break this tone by simply tapping on their Magikarp a bunch while at the pond. Youll get a message that the Everstone has broken, which will allow you to begin the process of leveling up your Magikarp and evolving it.

Note: Your highest CP Magikarp may not always be the best one to evolve. For example, if you have a 160 CP and a 150 CP Magikarp, and the 150 has a higher arc, you probably will want to evolve him because he will have the most potential even though right away, the 160 CP Magikarp will be a stronger Gyrados right away.

How To Level Up Fast In Pokemon Quest

After a certain amount of XP is earned, Pokemon will level up. You earn XP predominantly through Expeditions, with pokemon in your team gaining it as they fight. There are bonuses added at the end of each Expedition, and youll see how much XP has been earned. If you would like to level up a pokemon in Pokemon Quest more quickly, you can use the Level Up Training feature. This is located in the menu for the pokemon you wish to train, simply select the pokemon and click on the Training Menu. In order to level up your pokemon, youll need to add in some pokemon for it to train against. To do this, drag some pokemon that you arent using in your active team into the support slots. If you can, use pokemon of the same type as the one you are training as you will be granted an XP bonus. While training is going on you wont have access to any of the pokemon involved, so be sure to choose wisely. You can speed the process along by spending PM Tickets. Once the training is complete, your pokemon will have levelled up.
