Your Pokémons efficacy in battle relies on both careful planning and quick reflexes. Use this guide to make the most of your Pokémons combat abilities and come out victorious.

How To Purify Shadow Pokemon

Purifying Shadow Pokemon is a lot easier than in the spin-off games where they first appeared.

  • Open your storage
  • Choose the Shadow Pokemon you want
  • Then choose Purify
  • Shadow ‘mon have a purple flame next to their icons. You can find the Purify option near the Power-Up and Evolve options.

Also, you don’t actually have to Purify. If you use Shadow Charmander to turn into Shadow Charmeleon, that’s certainly possible to do.

Mythbusters Part : Ivs Of Traded Pokmon

Trading is a staple feature in Pokémon games and became an integral part of the Pokémon GO universe in July 2018. Pokémon GO introduced a twist to trading compared to the main series games: Pokémon reroll their stats when traded. Travelers often take advantage of this by trading away their Pokemon with subpar IVs in hopes of rerolling better ones. One myth that emerged shortly after the release of trading was that Pokémon with higher stats are more likely to keep high stats after trading. To many travelers, this seems intuitive. A Pokémon with higher stats should be more valuable in a trade than one with lower stats, right?

To put this myth to the test, researchers in the Silph Research Group got together with friends and conducted over 3,000 trades in a controlled study. After careful analysis of Pokémon stats before and after trading, were ready to call this myth:

    Methodology

Each Pokémon has three stats that are added to the base stats of the species. IVs range from 0-15 for each single stat and are individually assigned to each Pokémon. When a Pokémon is traded, its IVs are randomly changed.

In a Developer Insights post released shortly after the trading feature launched, Niantic provided the following details regarding trade mechanics:

Based on these details, the Research Group hypothesized that the original IVs of a Pokémon do not affect the IVs after it is traded.

How Do I Check A Pokmon’s Ivs In Pokmon: Let’s Go

    4 STAR

You can actually check a Pokémon’s IVs directly by going into the menu with ‘X’, selecting Pokémon Box, and selecting the Pokémon you want to check. Scroll down to ‘Check summary’, then press ‘A’ to show more details. Just like that, you’ll se your Pokémon’s IVs.

The only problem with this is that there’s no real indication of whether or not the IVs are actually good unless you’re a mathematical genius. What you need is the IV Judge ability.

When Defending A Gym Get Free Stuff

Now that you’ve got a Pokemon defending a gym, go to the in-game Shop, tap the Shield icon and get free Coins and Stardust. Coins are in-game currency that you can use to buy items like Pokeballs, Potions, and even bigger item bags. You can also buy coins with real-world money! What, did you think there were no micro-transactions in innocent little Pokémon Go? Of course, the only real way to play for free is to acquire Coins by assigning a Pokemon to defend a gym. Pressing the Shield will get you 10 coins and 500 Stardust per each Pokemon of yours defending that gym. However, you need to wait 21 hours before you can tap the Shield again! So be sure to defend the gym, or place Pokemon in multiple gyms! Ah, don’t you love Energy mechanics in mobile games?

    How Does Battling Work

Fighting in Pokemon Go is a bigger mess than Brock’s love life. You’re supposed to be able to swipe left and right to dodge the incoming attacks of opposing Pokemon. You can time the dodge by watching the opponent’s attack animation. If you have decent cell service, and a bit of luck, you should even be able to dodge special attacks. You’re also supposed to tap your opponent over and over to attack. Attacks’ effectiveness is based on the rock-paper-scissors system of strengths and weaknesses found in the core Pokemon games. That means fire is weak against water, grass is weak against fire, water is weak against grass. You can check what type your Pokemon is in its bio, or refer to this handy-dandy chart. But, the Pokemon Go app’s performance issues turn fights into random kerfuffles. Your best bet is to have a ton of potions and revives at the ready in case you need to revive and heal fainted Pokemon, and just tap away, and tap and hold once in a while to unleash your Pokemon’s special attacks, which consumes some special meter .

Hidden Tips For Pokemon Go Fanatics

Step back out into the world, and master these tricks to become the ultimate Pokemon Go trainer.

Pokemon Go has captured the world’s heart, and maybe even made America great again. In fact, not even a global pandemic significantly slowed Pokemon Go’s momentum. With some precautions, we can catch them all, and stay healthy at the same time.

Pokemon Go has received several updates since its launch, making it incredibly fun to play. It requires you to get up, leave the couch, and visit real-world locations to replenish important items, participate in Gym and Raid Battles, and of course, catch wild Pokemon. The rules have been relaxed during the COVID-19 era , but going outside is still generally the point.

Unfortunately, the game provides little guidance on the nuances of catching, collecting, and evolving Pokemonthere’s barely a tutorial. If you’re just starting out, see How to Get Started and Catch ‘Em All for a primer on what every icon means, how to capture Pokemon, and other basics.

The following advanced tips and tricks go one step further to help you truly master Pokemon Go, use it to enhance your other Pokemon adventures on consoles, and maybe, just maybe, put you in the mood for the upcoming Pokemon Sleep.

What To Do If Your Bag Is Full

New Pokemon Snap – How to Get a Four Star Goodra Photo

At some point, however, your in-game bag is going to be completely full of items. When that happens, you dont have to stop accessing the Pokéstops. If you keep tapping and spinning, youll still get experience from those stops, even if youre not gathering items.

Your immediate next step should be to discard items you dont want to free up space for those you do, though. Go to your Items menu and tap the Trash Can icon next to any item you dont want to discard it. Youll be able to choose how many of each item you want to throw away. Its generally best to toss low-level potions and revives, because youll have far more than you need in most situations. Pokéballs tend to be more valuable. You have plenty at early levels, but at later levels, theyre in shorter supply as Pokémon become harder to catch. If youre in a place where Pokéstops arent too plentiful, Pokéballs can be much tougher to come by, so youll want to devote as much space in your bag to them as possible.

On top of the items you get from Pokéstops and leveling your trainer, there is also a store in the game where you can spend real-world money on Pokécoins to buy in-game items. These include rarer items like Incense, Lucky Eggs, and Lure modules, along with large quantities of Pokéballs and expanded item or Pokémon storage. You can also earn Pokécoins from gyms, though, and its a better, cheaper method than spending your real money.

    Pay Attention To Catching Mechanics

A colored ring will appear around the Pokémon youre trying to catch. Different colors denote the likelihood of catching the Pokémon, with green being the easiest and red the most difficult. You can increase your chances by switching to a stronger Pokéball if you have it, which will cause the rings color to change to the easier colors.

As you hold down the Pokéball, the colored ring will go from large to small. You want your Pokéball to land on the Pokémon inside that circle, and the smaller, the better. Catching Pokémon is based on a probability calculation the game is doing behind the scenes, and it takes into account which Pokéball you use, how small the circle is, whether you land your ball inside it, how you throw the ball, and whether you use any items. If you land your ball inside the circle when its large, youll execute a Good throw, but getting it inside the circle when its small will give you an Excellent throw, which is more likely to be successful. Also, the smaller the circle, the more experience points you get for hitting it on target.

Get good at curveball throws. If you rotate your finger over your Pokéball, you can spin it on the screen. When you throw a spinning Pokéball, itll curve toward your target. This can help you finesse a shot to get it inside the circle. More importantly, curveballs add a little bit to your probability of catching the Pokémon. Players can also get extra experience points if the Pokémon is caught using a curveball.

    How To Get Shadow Pokmon

Shadow Pokémon are only available after defeating a Team Rocket Grunt on a PokéStop near you or from a Team Rocket Balloon, which normally appear on your Pokémon GO map every 6 hours starting midnight. Shadow Pokémon are used for maleficent purposes, most commonly by Team GO Rocket.

After winning a Team Rocket battle, you will be awarded with XP, 500 stardust and a chance to catch one of the Shadow Pokémon that Team GO Rocket left behind.

In order to catch the Shadow Pokémon, each player is granted a number of Premier Balls which are only usable for the Shadow Pokémon Encounter.

The number of Premier Balls received is based on how many of your Pokémon survive the battle, your Purify Pokémon Medal rank, and your Defeat Team Rocket Medal rank.

At the beginning, you will get 5 Premier Balls if you win the battle with no fainted Pokémon. Catching Shadow versions of regular Pokémon is similar to catching a raid boss, but you get way less Premier Balls.

    The Basics Of Gym Battles

Gyms work like this: A player takes over a gym by winning battles, claiming it for their team. That player can then leave one Pokémon from their collection behind to guard the gym, and other people from their same team can also add Pokémon to the gym, up to a total of six Pokémon. Other players can then challenge the gym and the Pokémon that are in it with their own team of Pokémon. Eventually, the gym will be defeated and change hands to another team, and the cycle begins again.

To challenge a gym, youll need to be close enough to the real-world location to select it, which will give the option to begin a battle. Youll be able to assemble a team of up to six of your own Pokémon to battle against that gyms team. If you win battles, the CP of the Pokémon in the gym will be reduced when it finally hits zero, that Pokémon is kicked out of the gym and returns to their trainer. You can battle a gym an unlimited number of times, so long as you have Pokémon with HP to fight in it so this is where the use of Potions and Revives comes in.

    Joining A Raid Battle

Raid battles are arguably Pokemon Gos biggest feature. Once you hit level 20, you can access raid events in which a powerful Boss Pokemon appears at certain times of the day. If there’s a raid happening close to you, you get a notification and have the chance to join. But if you walk right up to a gym, youll be disappointed when the bouncer at the door asks for a Raid Pass or Premium Raid Pass and you don’t have one. These can be gotten by going to a gym and spinning the photo disc. Only one raid pass can be used per day, otherwise, you need to purchase a Premium Raid Pass from the shop to participate in raid battles more often.
