The Best Moveset For Lapras In Pokemon Sword And Shield

One of the original 150 Pokemon, Lapras, has returned in Generation VIII and offers a unique combination of defensive utility and offensive power.

The value of Lapras is only enhanced by the introduction of Dynamax, since Lapras Gigantimax move, G-Resonance, is one of the best in the game. While regular Lapras is a fine Pokemon, if its found in any Max Raid battle, any player should at least make an attempt to catch it. Outside of dealing a sizeable amount of damage, G-Resonance also creates a field condition similar to Aurora Veil where incoming attacks get their damage reduced for five turns. This is an incredibly helpful mechanic, since not only will Lapras become harder to KO, but in doubles it can be paired with a defensive Pokemon that will benefit from the damage reduction as well. What If You Don’t Have The Best Movesets In Pokmon Go

Since the introduction of the Raid Battle system in June 2017, you can get Technical Machines to change your movesets. Two of the possible rewards for beating Raid Bosses are Quick TM and Fast TM, which can be used to change Quick Moves and Charge Moves respectively. Regular TMs are completely random and cannot access Legacy Moves.

Legacy Moves are special moves that were once available for a Pokémon but are no longer. Sometimes they were removed when Niantic re-balanced the game. Some were only available on Community Day or in special Raids. Either way, if a Legacy Move happens to be the best possible move for a Pokémon and you don’t have it, you cannot get it with a normal TM. Before you use a TM on any Pokémon, you should always check to see if the move you’re changing is a Legacy Move and if that move is worth having. A lot of Legacy Moves don’t perform well, but some of them are the best moves in the game.

More recently, Niantic introduced Elite TMs. These TMs are rare, and often difficult to get or expensive, but allow you to choose from any move a Pokémon can have, including Legacy Moves. They aren’t random either. You get to choose the move. Because of how hard it is to get Elite TMs, you’ll want to save them for your very best Pokémon, but hey, now you can have a Mewtwo with Shadow Ball and Psystrike!

What About Secondary Charge Moves In Pokmon Go

With PvP Trainer Battles, Niantic also introduced secondary Charge Moves. You can buy them with Stardust and Candy, and TM them to whatever it is you need. So, what do you need? Typically, variety. If the best Charge Move is a full bar, get a secondary that’s multi-bar. If there are two possible types for the Charged move, get both. For example, a Mewtwo with Shadow Ball or Psystrike is incredible, but one with both? Gamebreaker! However, adding a second Charge Move is expensive so make sure there is a good secondary move before spending on this upgrade.

Firstly, lets take a look at Lapras Fast Moves. Those of you that took advantage of the Pokemon Go January Research Breakthrough reward may have a few Lapras sitting around with two Elite moves already.

Experienced GO Battle League trainers will know low-energy Charge Moves are vital. This is because it is important to get rid of your opponents Protect Shields and by using as many Charge Moves as possible this gives them a tough decision to make take the damage or waste the Protect Shield.

Surf will be most frequently used for those who arent used a Research Breakthrough Lapras. However, Ice Beam largely serves the same purpose with more damage and favourable type advantages.

One of these would most ideally be paired with Blizzard or Hydro Pump whatever is the opposite type to your low-energy Charge Move.

Lapras is a water and ice-type Pokemon originating from the Kanto region as part of the original 151 in Generation I. Its PokeDex number is #131. In Pokemon GO, it has a CP ceiling of 2641, an attack stat of 165, defense of 174, and stamina of 277. It was once considered one of the strongest Pokemon in the game when it was first released.
