Should I Sell My Pokemon Cards
It depends on what cards they are. Most cards arent worth much, and never will be. In Pokemon especially, old cards have been power-crept out of the game, so theyre only valuable as collectors items. A quick search shows that most commons and uncommons from the original Pokemon card game set are worth around $.

Pokemon Card Grading Scale
There are four key factors that effect the grade of your Pokemon cards:
1. Centering
This refers to how well centered the artwork on the card is. Grading services tend to be stricter with centering on the front of the card, compared to the back. They will also work off certain centering ratios to determine the grade of the card.
2. Corners
This refers to the condition of the corners. Anything like whitening, nicks, or unsymmetrical cutting can affect the grade of a card.
3. Edges
This refers to the condition of the edges of the card. Again, whitening, nicks and edgewear can affect the grade.
4. Surface
This refers to the condition of the surface of the card. Scratches, nicks print lines and even holographic bleed can affect the grade.

What Is The Rarest Pokemon Card 2019
One of the rarest Pokémon cards ever made just sold for nearly $200,000. A Pokémon card was sold at auction for $195,000 on October 23, based on an auction listing spotted by Kotaku. Pikachu Illustrator is considered the rarest Pokémon trading card in existence, and only 39 were produced back in 1998.

Alternatives For Grading Pokemon Cards
As demand for PSA, Beckett and CGC shot up massively this past year, the desire for alternative Pokemon card grading services increased.
People wanted their graded encapsulated quickly, cost-effectively and locally.
Now I want to take this opportunity to say a massive shout-out to their entrepreneurs who took a risk, started their own grading companies and have a strong desire to serve the Pokemon community.
But, the big players have taken years to build their reputation among collectors, so this begs the question
Should you wait for the likes of PSA, Beckett & CGC to reopen and speed up or should you try these new grading companies that have sprouted up?
Heres my take
When to Hold Out For The Bigger Companies to Open
- You have vintage Pokemon cards in near mint or better condition even more so if Holographic, 1st Edition, Error Cards, or rare Promos.
- Previous cards have sold for a considerable amount of money the same card graded by a lesser known company wont be as valuable.
- You have a valuable card and youre not looking for flip it quickly.
When to Try a New Grading Company
Ultimately, it comes down to you as a collector. If you like the idea of simply having your cards graded, protected and scored, then absolutely go for it and try these new companies.
But if you have cards that have high potential value, then Id probably wait.

One of the earliest cards to come out of the Pokémon franchise was this promotional card of Pikachu that was given out to winners of an illustration contest in 1998. An estimated 20 to 39 copies were issued. In late 2016, Heritage Auctions sold one for a whopping $54,970. In July 2020, a card graded by Professional Sports Authenticator as a 9 out of 10 fetched $250,000.

Is It Worth Selling Yugioh Cards
As long as theres a demand for Yu-Gi-Oh cards, they will always be worth something. The trading card game first started in 1996 and its still going strong. So, rest assured, Yu-Gi-Oh cards will be worth plenty of money in the foreseeable future. So, certain rare cards will be reprinted, and thus lose their value.

Anthony Hickman:I think its important to start with the elephant in the room. We love PSA and BGS just as much as the next collector.
We founded TFG on the core principals of integrity, professionalism and humility, fundamental values that are inherent with our Royal Marines heritage. Alongside a genuine passion for the hobby, we wanted to build a Grading Service based on these core principals.
We understand the narrative of why use anyone else? and this has resonated with us from our conception. We want to challenge this and ask why not?. Our vision is to create an alternative that is viable, trusted within the community, accessible, engaging and innovating, offering a cost effective and efficient service with a competitive turnaround time. I have often wondered why such a progressive and established hobby, relies on the performance of two businesses, and the answer is because at this moment in time, they do what they do, better than anyone else.

Not All Cards Are Worth Something
Its worth noting that your average Pokémon collection wont make you rich. Most cards in recent sets arent worth more than $1, and even the rare ones often arent worth more than $10. However, there still is value in the older cards the ones that have been sitting around in self storage for years. Base set cards can be surprisingly valuable, and if youre lucky enough to have a first edition holographic card, you could be set up for a pretty penny.
If youre looking to maximize your return, use sites like pokemonprices.com or eBay to do research, checking each individual card of uncommon rarity or higher. Blindly selling your collection without doing the legwork on Pokémon card value could end up selling yourself short and giving a collector a great deal.
Card Condition Is Important
The condition of your Pokémon cards is a vital part of whether they have any value. Collectors arent interested in ripped, stained, or otherwise defaced cards, and such wear can severely tank a cards value even if it is a rare one.
Youve probably heard of mint condition cards before. If youre wondering whether or not a card qualifies as mint, youll need to get it graded by a PSA representative. Your card could be worth more if you have its condition officially graded.

The Most Valuable Pokmon Cards
As a teenager, Pokémon creator Satoshi Tajiri was so fond of collecting insects that classmates called him Mr. Bug. While it might not have been an affectionate label, Tajiri had the last laugh: His Pokémon video game, originally released for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1996, has become an enduring multimedia success, selling billions in games, merchandise, and phone apps.
The goal of collecting and pitting monsters against one another has been particularly appealing for trading card collectors, who have created an entire secondary market for the low-tech version of the game. The all-time sales record as of May 2021 might be this Blastoise card sold at auction for a whopping $360,000, but it’s not a card you ever would have found in a pack. Wizards of the Coast, which manufactures the card game, printed just one to show to Nintendo.
Fortunately, other cards are a little more accessible, though first editions, misprints, and other characteristics all affect value. If youre curious, take a look at 10 of the most valuable Pokémon cards according to Heritage Auctions, eBay, and other sources.
So Does That Mean That All Of Your Old Cards Are Absolutely Worthless Well Not Necessarily
Dallas-based auction house Heritage Auctions actually ran some numbers on Pokemon cards in late July, when Pokemon Go;was first taking off. They found that the popular of Pokemon Go;caused eBay’s daily number of Pokemon card sales to nearly double. And there are, in fact, still some cards that could be worth hundreds if not thousands. Heritage Auctions has a page on their website devoted entirely to Pokemon Cards.
The famous Pikachu Illustrator Card, for example, is still highly coveted. A mere 39 copies of this Japanese-only card exist, and they were given to contestants in an art contest. One of those sold for $90,000 in 2014, according to Heritage Auctions.
Other high-value cards include “error cards” , certain first edition cards and “shadowless” cards. It’s unlikely, but you might still be able to make a few hundred bucks off of a single card, or thousands from a collection of hard-to-find cards.
But the reality is that the vast majority of Pokemon cards are worth a few bucks each at most. And when you factor in eBay’s cut and the cost it would take to individually list, sell and ship each of those cards, the value in selling them probably doesn’t make it worth it.

How To Grade Pokemon Cards With Psa If You Live In The Uk
As PSA is based in the US, international shipping can be an expensive and uncertain path for UK-based collectors.
Unfortunately, a very well trusted service here in the UK called Graded Gem, has ceased their relationship with PSA.
However there is another trusted company called Ludkins Collectables that Im looking forward to using when PSA reopen for bulk submissions.;
Video Of Me Looking Up Pokemon Cards Prices:
If you get too many results that include cards NOT like yours, use the checkboxes to pick the ones just like yours. Choosing a few comparable items by using the checkboxes gives you very;accurate estimate of your Pokemon cards value and the prices you should pay for them.
What to do next:
Once youve searched mavin.io and figured out the value of your Pokemon cards, you have several options:
If your Pokemon cards are valuable You could hold onto the cards and collect them, as most collectors do, and hope they appreciate in value over time. It may be a good investment to get them professionally graded by PSA. This will dramatically increase the price theyll sell for online because it guarantees their authenticity and condition.
You could sell your cards to a local card shop, knowing full well what they sell for online .;Remember that dealers purchase collections at wholesale prices. They need to make a profit and selling a large collection takes a considerable amount of time and resources so dont expect to get 100% of the Pokemon card prices youd get if you sold them yourself online.
Selling your Pokemon cards online will get you the best price, but it can be time consuming: taking pictures, writing descriptions, responding to customers, packing, shipping, returns its a lot of work. If you have the time and patience, selling them online is a great way to make money. Read our guide to selling on eBay.

So What Can You Do Well Why Not Play With Them Again
As mentioned before, the Pokemon Trading Card Game is still going strong, and as long as you’re not planning on entering a professional tournament any time soon, you can play with your old deck just like it’s 1998 again. If you have children that are nearing a prime Pokemon age, it could be a great way to introduce them to something you were into when you were younger.
The Pokemon Company even has a digital version of the Pokemon Card Game that can be played online for free;on Windows, Mac, iPad and Android. And if you buy any new Pokemon cards? They’ll give you codes to get digital cards as well.
So your investment in Pokemon cards may have been as financially beneficial as Beanie Babies were, but don’t throw them away, either, because not all value comes in the form of dollar bills.

Beckett Pokemon Card Grading Scale
Beckett has a more in-depth process, giving subgrades for the four key factors mentioned above. Their range runs from a Poor 1 to a Pristine 10.
Interestingly, they also have an elite level above that called a Black Label Pristine 10 for cards that score 10 for all the subgrades. As you can imagine, these cards are highly sought-after and valuable.

Pokemon Card Grading Companies
There are three established Pokemon card grading services that are widely accepted among collectors.
Note: All of these companies are based in the US.
PSA have been working over the past few months to tackle their huge backlog of cards to be graded. As of July 2021 they were able to open up their most expensive service for Express Grading. This costs $200 per card, and clearly, is only worth it for cards of considerable value. PSA has stated their commitment to reopening all services, but of course this is likely to take some time. You can read their latest update here:; here. You can also view their earlier update here: .
As of June 7th 2021, Beckett also suspended their grading services to tackle their growing backlog.
CGC also have significant wait times. Read more here.
First Edition Cards Are King
Pokémon cards that were released before Nintendo began distributing the trading card game were printed in two sets: first edition and unlimited. You can tell that a card is first edition because of the Edition 1 badge located at the bottom-left of the card illustration.
It is these cards that carry great value, while their non-first edition cards are much less valuable. For instance, an unlimited holographic Charizard from the Base Set perhaps the single most famous Pokémon card in existence sells for about $88 on average. However, a quick look at eBay reveals that first edition Charizards can easily sell for thousands of dollars.
