Rarity: Is Your Collection All That Special
In terms of rarity, base-set cards are where the money is for most collectors, and these cards are the most traded ones in the hobby. Set cards are any card you can pull from a pack bought from the store, says Pratte. The base set comprises the original 102 cards printed in 1999 and includes classic Pokemon like Pikachu, Blastoise, Charizard and Venusaur.
A complete first-edition base set in mint condition sold for $100,000 in December 2017. If you have a base-set card in your card collection, there are a few visual indicators of its worth.
Holographic cards: These are the most discernable at first glance. The background of the Pokemon illustration is shiny and reflective not the whole card, only the picture of the monster. Theyre typically referred to as holo cards, and only 16 of the original 102 are holo.
First-edition cards: Directly next to the left corner of the illustration appears the edition 1 logo. These rare cards were bought up shortly after initial release and remain some of the most sought-after and valuable cards.
Shadowless cards: This version is almost identical to the first-edition prints but excludes the first-edition logo. If you dont have a newer card for comparison, this is particularly hard to notice: the illustration box appears 2D. On newer cards, the picture box has a shadow along the right border to give it a 3D appearance.

Common Uncommon And Rare
First, we need to show you how to find out a cards rarity just by looking at it. This is represented by a symbol located in the bottom right corner of every card. There should be a shape that indicates what rarity the card is.
Common cards are marked with a black circle, uncommon cards have a black diamond, and rare cards always have a black star. This is the basic way to tell the rarity of a card.
Rare cards, for instance, are split into multiple different kinds of rarities. There are the standard rare plain-looking cards, but theres so much more after that.

What Are Pokemon Cards
For the uninitiated, Pokemon Cards are part of the Pokemon Card Trading Card Game that originally launched in 1996. Back then, the original set contained just 151 cards one for each OG Pokemon.;
In simplest terms, Pokemon cards are baseball cards but for adorable Japanese Pocket Monsters.;
Since then, Pokemon has exploded into the worlds most valuable media franchise, valued at over $100 billion worldwide. For comparison, thats more than Star Wars, Spongebob, and James Bond combined.;
Fueling two decades of meteoric growth was a steady stream of new Pokemon creatures and thus new cards to collect. There are around 898 total Pokemon and over 9,100 Pokemon cards to collect in the English market.;
Not all 9,100 cards are available on store shelves at once, of course. The Pokemon Company International, the folks who make Pokemon cards, publish and release cards one generation at a time, with each generation lasting about two years.;
In total, there have been eight generations of Pokemon cards since 1996. And as the next generation of cards begins appearing on store shelves, the previous generation tends to sell out. At that point, its no surprise that certain cards begin shooting up in value!

Digimon World: Next Order
Find it on: PS Vita, PS4
While we already have one game from the popular series Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth on our list, this title is a little different. A departure from the usual rule of having a single monster accompany you, it allows you to take two digital pets with you, all the while caring for them the way you would any pet.
Gameplay-wise, combat throws you into somewhat new territory, with your digital beasts mostly controlled by the games AI in skirmishes. Although free from having to completely control your champion, you can jump in at any time, issuing orders to your wards, applying healing salves or get this combining your companions into one supercharged mashup for additional types of attacks.
The game for PlayStation consoles focuses on two Japanese third-year high school students, Takuto and Shiki, who are sucked into the digital realm, which they must then explore with the help of their chosen digital partners.
Played from a third person perspective and with a large fantasy dimension to explore, Next Order keeps things interesting despite its minor departure from the standard combat mechanics players might expect from this type of game and its rather bland environments.

Available for order for just twenty days, the cards were housed in impressive acrylic stands and shipped in beautiful boxes.

Holographic Shadowless Charizard: $500000
There are a lot of factors that make the Holographic Shadowless First Edition Charizard card worth so much compared to any other Charizard card. Firstly, it’s a first edition version of the undoubtedly most popular Kanto starter, which already makes it extra valuable to most pokemon fans. Alongside this, the card is also shadowless, which essentially means the card lacks a shadow between the box containing the image of the Pokemon, and the rest of the card.
This “Shadowless” effect is not a misprint or a mistake. It’s actually the original Pokemon card design, as the foiling process has changed and provided a different look to modern holographic and foil cards. These Charizard cards have become one of the prime reasons for the Pokemon Card trend of the past two years, with YouTuber Logan Paul opening one as recently as February 2021 that was estimated by auction site owner Ken Goldin to sell for upwards of $500,000.

Submit The Card To A Card
There is really only one way to have a Pokemon card graded, and thats to submit it for examination to a third party company.
There are several trading card rating companies, although some are more notable than others. A few of the more well-known ones with solid reputations are Professional Sports Authenticators, Beckett Grading Services, and Sportscard Guaranty.
The process of submitting a card one wants officially graded is quite simple. Head over to the company of choice, fill out some basic information about the particular card or cards that need to be graded, and then follow the instructions provided to mail the cards in for evaluation.
Once the company receives the cards, they will be through an authentification process and then they will face a comprehensive grading examination. The card will be given a rating out of ten, with ten being the absolute best condition. Pokemon cards that receive a rating less than nine are, in most cases, not going to be worth a whole lot of money. There are a few exceptions to this rule, of course.
When a submitted card has gotten its official rating, it will then be encapsulated in a protective case. The case will receive a label at the top that shows the rating it earned as well as the name of the company that graded it. Finally, the Pokemon card will be mailed back to its owner.
How To Get The Pokemon Sword And Shield Shiny Charm
The Pokemon Sword and Shield Shiny Charm is a simple concept; once you have it in your bag, the chance of each encounter being a shiny Pokemon is increased. Question is, how do you get the Shiny Charm? Youre going to want it before you even start shiny hunting, and its not easy.
To get the Shiny Charm, your first goal is to complete the Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex. Yep, you need to catch every single one of the 400 Pokemon in the game. Youll need to do some trading to make it happen thanks to the various Pokemon Sword and Shield differences, but it needs to happen before you can get your hands on the Shiny Charm.
Once your Galar Pokedex is at 400/400, head to Circhester. Enter the west door of Hotel Ionia, go up the elevator, then enter the room on the far left. You shouldve spoken to the Director once before now in order to get the Catching Charm, but now youve completed the Pokedex, hell reward you with the Shiny Charm. Result.

St Edition Charizard Holo Shadowless
Perhaps the most well-known, “rare” Pokémon card is the 1st Edition Charizard Holo. First released in 1999, the sought after card is still one of the most expensive as well. The initial release of the card featured a printing error, which was quickly corrected and reprinted. As such, the misprinted “shadowless” version is extremely rare.
Only 95 cards in circulation have been rated as Gem Mint 10, further increasing the typical auction price. In October 2020, a “shadowless” 1st Edition Charizard Holo sold for a record-breaking $220,574 to the former rapper-turned-YouTuber Logic.
Ex Team Rocket Returns Gold Star Torchic
It’s not all that often that a starter Pokemon card;that isn’t Charizard sells for big money, particularly one from as late as 2004. Gold Star Torchic from the EX Team Rocket Returns set is something of an exception, though, with a copy having sold for more than $25,000 towards the end of 2020.
The card in question was one of only 17 to have been given the PSA’s perfect GEM-MT 10 rating and 322 to have been submitted to the company for inspection. A few of the other cards in the set have also sold for high prices over the years, but none have fetched anywhere near as much as the little fire Pokemon.
