Players may eventually be able to transfer their Pokémon to and from Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl using Pokémon Home, but not at launch.

The long-awaited Pokémon generation 4 remakes Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are set to release on November 19, and some players are unsure if they can use Pokémon Home to transfer existing Pokémon between other games and the newest titles. Acting as a Switch and mobile version of the existing handheld-based Pokémon Bank, Pokémon Home is a cloud-based service that allows players to store their Pokémon and transfer them between games. The service has thus far been compatible with Pokémon GO, Pokémon Sword and Shield, Lets Go, Evee!, and Lets Go, Pikachu!. Although there are some Pokémon that can’t be transferred from Pokémon Go to Home, it’s still a pretty reliable way to move Pokémon between games.

Pokémon Home is also compatible with Pokémon Bank which means that players can transfer Pokémon from the handheld titles to the switch titles using both services. While it can be a complicated process to transfer Pokémon between the numerous games and services, Pokémon Home and Pokémon Bank are still solid tools for hardcore fans who wish to keep their longtime Pokémon from game to game. Pokémon Home even allows players to unlock achievements and complete a full national Pokédex for Pokémon fans to complete.

How To Import Pokmon In Home

Pokémon Home offers trainers the ability to import and export their Pokémon from select titles to other games that are compatible with the Switch app.

Pokémon Home is an app on the Nintendo Switch that allows trainers to import and export their Pokémon from one title to another. However, the catch is that a given Pokémon has to be available in both games, such as an Eevee, in order to transfer it from one game to another. Unfortunately, there is no compatibility between Pokémon Home and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl just yet, but the service is set to release later in 2022.

Currently, the only games that are compatible with Pokémon Home are Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. Additionally, Pokémon Bank, a 3DS service that acted similarly to Pokémon Home for 3DS Pokémon titles, also has limited compatibility with Pokémon Home. Aside from transferring many Pokémon from one game to another, trainers can also store their Pokémon safely in Pokémon Home for the purposes of starting a new game.

All these years later, Mewtwo is still a terror built for battle. It has massive Special Attack and Speed stats, so it should your teams go-to attacker. Aura Sphere or Focus Blast are recommended.

Pokemon Go Is Now Compatible With Pokemon Home But The Restrictions Are Kind Of Ridiculous

Pump the brakes on transferring that Shiny Groudon to Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Opinionby Kat Bailey, Editor in Chief

    11 November 2020

As of today, Pokemon Go is now compatible with Pokemon Home. This is exciting news for Pokemon fans, because it greatly expands the number of monsters that can be transferred from Niantics popular mobile game to Pokemon Sword and Shield. It wouldnt be Pokemon if there werent a lot of hoops to jump through, though, and Pokemon Go throws up quite a few barriers to getting your beloved Shiny Groudon over to the Nintendo Switch.

    Niantic

As of right now, if you want to complete a transfer from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Home, you need to fit the following requirements:

    • You have to be Level 40 in Pokemon Go
    • The Go Transporter item must have a sufficient amount of energy
    • You must have already caught the Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and Shield, so you cant use Pokemon Go to fill your Pokedex
    • Mega Evolutions, Shadow Pokemon, and unique costumes cant be transferred

Those are some pretty onerous restrictions, making it effectively impossible to transfer your entire collection over to Pokemon Sword and Shield in one go. Indeed, as someone currently trapped at Level 32 in Pokemon Go, Ive yet to be able to access the feature at all. Alas, poor Shiny Dragonite, you appear to be doomed to remain trapped in the purgatory of Alameda, California.

How To Transfer Pokmon Between Pokmon Go Pokmon Home And Pokmon Sword And Shield

If youve caught some of your favourite monsters in Pokémon Go, Pokémon Home is the only way you can transfer them to Pokémon Sword and Shield on your Switch. Pokémon Home has functioned as a go-between for transferring Pokémon between main series games for almost a year now, but it is finally compatible with Pokémon Go, the series biggest mobile game.

Once youve connected the two games and sent some Pokémon from Pokémon Go, Pokémon Home will show theyve arrived immediately. However, this guide will help you every step of the way, because it can get fiddly. Like with transferring Pokémon to the Go Park Complex in Pokémon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee, the process is a little bit complicated to set up, so take your time with it and follow the steps to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Well also cover Transporter energy, and how much energy different Pokémon cost to transfer between the two games. There are a few rules depending on what Pokémon youre transferring and how powerful it is, so refer to the table below for a quick breakdown.

How Does The Pokmon Home App Work

Pokémon HOME is a free app that allows you to store Pokémon from across multiple Pokémon games, trade with others, and then transfer them into the most recent entries in the series: Pokémon Sword and Shield. The app is available on iOS and Android, and there is also a special version for the Nintendo Switch that lets you bring Pokémon into Sword and Shield.

Along with the free basic version, Pokémon HOME also has a paid Premium plan that gives users access to additional features. Free users cannot connect their apps with Pokémon Bank and are limited to 30 Pokémon stored at a time. Plus, free users can only place up to three Pokémon in the Wonder Box at a time and only one Pokémon in the GTS, and can participate in but not host Room Trades.

Paid Premium users can transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Bank, can store up to 6,000 Pokémon, put up to 10 Pokémon in the Wonder Box and three in the GTS at once, can participate in and host Room Trades, and can use the Judge function. If you’re trying to connect with other Pokémon games that aren’t on the Nintendo Switch or Pokemon Go, you’ll need to have that Premium plan.

Moving Pokmon From The Bank Into X/y

From here, its time to exit the Transporter app. While on the 3DS home screen, remove your copy of Black/White or Black 2/White 2 and insert Pokémon X/Y. Now, youll want to start the Bank app. Finally.

Once you confirm that you want the Bank to access X/Y, youll see a familiar sight with Box 1 from X/Y on the lower screen and Bank 1 on the top screen. Scroll the cursor up to the Bank 1 label and press left this will take you to that Transport Box containing the Pokémon transferred in via the Poké Transporter.

Now you can either move these Pokémon into a different area of the Bank for safe keeping , or you can move them into X/Y. Almost done.

If your cursor is red, which it will be by default, press the start button twice this will allow your now-green cursor to highlight and select whole groups of Pokémon, making physically moving them into your X/Y boxes on the lower screen significantly faster.

Pressing the Y button will allow you to enter search criteria if you happen to be looking for a specific Pokémon otherwise, hit the X button to save and quit the Pokémon Bank.

Now you can either launch X/Y and see your old Pokémon in glorious 3D, or you can start the whole process over again by getting back into Black/White or Black 2/White 2 and moving another 30 Pokémon into Box 1 for transfer. Tedious to be sure, but worth it.

Link Your Pokmon Bank With Pokmon Home

Once youre finished with the transfer, youll need to link your Pokémon Bank account on 3DS to your phone, Nintendo Switch, or whichever device you have the Home app installed on. I used the Home app on my Android phone, but this process is similar on the Switch.

    • First off, ensure that your Nintendo Account is linked to the Home app. It asks you to do that when you first run it, but you can link it manually in the settings by tapping the menu button on the bottom of the screen. Since you need to link your account on the Switch before you can download apps from the eShop, youll already be linked if youre using the Switch app.
    • Then select Options on the next screen if youre using the mobile app.
    • While youre still on the Options screen, youll need to convert to being a paying customer to link your Bank to Home. The minimum is a $2.99 monthly fee to keep the service running.
    • You dont have to keep paying once youve finished the transfer, but keeping your subscription active will give you more space to save pokémon and give you access to the other perks .
    • After you subscribe, open Pokémon Bank on your 3DS. Tap the Move Pokémon to Pokémon Home button on the main menu.
    • If you have the Home app installed on a phone or tablet, click Move Pokémon in the Options menu. On the Switch, click the 3DS symbol on the main screen.
    • In the Home app, youll be presented with a Moving Key that you have to input on your 3DS to initiate the transfer.

Is Pokemon Bank Compatible With Pokemon Lets Go

    Pokemon Bank For 3DS Review!

Hardcore fans of the 3DS generation of Pokemon games are likely familiar with Pokemon Bank, and might be wondering if its compatible with Pokemon Lets Go.

The Pokemon Bank is an incredibly helpful app for the 3DS. For a nominal yearly fee , you can store and organize your collection however you wish.

Even better, you can transfer mons from earlier games to the newer ones. So for example, if you had ones from X & Y that you wanted to bring over to Sun and Moon, you totally could.

Lots of fans were hoping that this would be possible in Lets Go Pikachu & Eevee as well. That possibly, we could transfer ones from earlier games, to Lets Go or vice versa.

Sadly, Pokemon Bank is not compatible with Lets Go and there doesnt appear to be any plans for it to ever be so. This is probably due the fact that Lets Go is restricted to the original Kanto mons, minus Meltan and his evolution, Mega Evolved forms and Alola forms of what was already in Gen 1.

However, dont lose hope for the future of the Bank as a whole. From what we have heard, the next mainline game in the series, the one thats more aimed at the core and hardcore players, will be compatible with Pokemon Bank.

The details are scarce, but Game Freak is figuring out a way to make it work.

Lets Go does have compatibility with GO on mobile though. You can check out our guide on how to transfer if youre a player of both those games and want to take advantage of its unique connection.

What Will Happened To Pokmon Bank Accounts

Pokémon Bank was a paid service for Nintendo 3DS that allowed players to store their Pokémon online. The storage system worked very well and there were various ways to get the most out of it, such as transferring your rare pokemon to Y version or using multiple bank accounts.

The service ended on February 28th, 2017 and any existing accounts will no longer be available after January 20th, 2018. Because of this, we must take precautions with our wallets and save data before time runs out.

If you didnt know about terminating of the service: do not worry! You can still keep all your Pokemon even if you dont do anything. Your account is safe until January 20th, 2018 when the termination starts .

Pokémon Bank will remain operational, but Nintendos 3DS titles require the older service. Pokémon Home therefore offers a way to access both games and data from previous versions of records in one place on your phone or tablet via an app downloadable directly from the Google Play Store for Android-powered devices Apples App store if youre using iOS.-NYTimes

Can You Still Use Pokmon Bank In 2021

Pokémon Bank doesnt seem to be available on Nintendos eShop, so my guess is that it will stop working when the service does. It seems that for now you can still use Pokémon Bank after 2019, but I would recommend not to store your Pokémon in it anymore in any case. Well see what the future brings!
