Of course, the two have their own individual stat spreads that differentiate them from one another , but, together, they’re the best Psychic-types. We’ll hear from Mega Mewtwo X again later, thanks to its secondary Fighting typing.

How To Capture A Boss Pokemon

Victory. You and your team have done the hard work and taken down the Boss Pokemon. Balloons fall from the ceiling, the fireworks go off, and the credits roll. Not so fast. There are more rewards to be had. Once you beat the Boss, you and your group are rewarded with potions, revives, and coins. You also get Premier Balls, which are the only kind of Pokeball you can use to capture the Boss. The amount of Premier Balls awarded depends on how well you did in the battle, and they disappear after your attempt to capture the Boss is over, so you want to be careful and take your time. Make sure to use lots of berries to improve your chances. Once all the Premier Balls run out, the Boss Pokemon flees.

As the only game to get a direct sequel with Black and White 2, the fifth generation of Pokemon puts more of an emphasis on its storytelling, and plays around with the concept of right and wrong. The antagonists in this one arent so clearly as nefarious as Team Rocket always seem to be with their tail cutting habits and treatment of Pokemon. Instead, Black and White features Team Plasma, a group that believe Pokemon should be allowed to roam free and not be tied down by a trainer. It throws up quite a compelling dilemma with no obvious cut and dry answers. This version also has some graphical enchantments over Diamond and Pearl, with more appealing sprite animations in battle.

These are the first games in the series. Pokemon Red and Blue were the original Pokemon games released to players worldwide. Many people consider the games to be the best games in the series. But for our best Pokemon games list, we put the Kanto region games at number 2. Although these games started the series, they’re still among some of the best games to ever be released. The remakes aren’t too shabby either.

Since this was the first Pokemon game, it doesn’t have the flashy features that we see relevant in modern-day Pokemon games. Nevertheless, these games implemented all of the basic Pokemon features we’ve grown to love in every installment. For starters, the original 151 Pokemon are without a doubt some of the best The Pokemon Company has ever designed. These Pokemon are synonymous with the franchise. Pokemon such as Charizard, Squirtle, Mewtwo, Pikachu, and more are still present in every Pokemon game.

The story is also one of the most simplistic yet one of the best in the series. The classic Team Rocket is one of the most recognizable faces in gaming. Their battle against the main protagonist over the course of the game is easily one of the best-crafted stories we’ve come across in a Pokemon game.

The Best Pokmon Game Remakes

When you have a winning formula, its hard to want to change it. The Pokémon games have found their niche audience and have managed to keep this audience entertained regardless of graphics. However, the Pokémon franchise has managed to push out a few remakes that are worth your time. Although these games are almost identical to the games listed above, they do have some improvements to each game that make them worth checking out and were usually compatible with the latest installment in the main series, allowing for some interesting cross-generation trading and battling.

Pokemon Gold And Silver

After Pokemon Red and Blue put the world into a Pokemon frenzy, the sequel had some big shoes to fill. Fans everywhere for eager for more, and thankfully Silver and Gold delivered just that in the best way possible. Bigger and better than before, the second generation introduced 100 excellent and memorable additions to the Pokemon library, along with two new Pokemon types, and a whole host of new moves. It brought in some interesting new features that changed up the game in fun new ways. Introducing a day and night cycle added time-specific challenges, and brought in some Pokemon that could only be caught at certain times of day. Silver and Gold still had all the hallmarks that made the first games so enjoyable, but it expanded the experience to cement itself as the superior Pokemon game. And better yet, when you reach the end of the game, you get to unlock the Kanto region from Red and Blue which allows you to revisit all of the gyms and trainers. Silver and Gold was a giant leap forward for the franchise, and nothing has quite compared to it since.

Pokemon Crystal then came swooping in as a shiny enhanced remake of Silver and Gold, and it’s especially notable since it was the first ever Pokemon title that let you decide whether you want to play as a boy or a girl. Thankfully this became a mainstay feature in every game that followed.

Pokmon Sword & Shield

Taking the typically portable mainline series to consoles for the first time is a daunting trial, but Game Freak delivered a decent effort with Sun & Moon. Yes, it doesnt have all the Pokémon from the past series, but thats okay with a generation of Pokémon that feels unique to the region of Galar . The game felt truly inspired by the United Kingdom as battles took place in large arenas similar to football games across the country. As a Brit myself, I loved all the different references.

The new open fields of Pokémon Sun & Moon had the developer Game Freak dip its toes into what a big open-world RPG based on the series would be. It is a tantalizing taste of whats to come, as there was plenty to find if you looked in-depth enough.

In addition, the legendaries have an amazing design, with one carrying a sword and the other having a shield. Their attacks are badass like many other Pokémon in the game. It might be disappointing for some, but Sword & Shield is a grand stepping stone for the future of the series. Oh, and did we mention that you can make your Pokémon giant? Thats a neat feature.

That’s right! The second generation of Pokemon games, which were released as solely Gold and Silver in 1999, is number 1 on our list. These games elevated all the core aspects of the original Pokemon games. They also added some unique features to this generation that made the games the best of all time.

For starters, generation two is when Shiny Pokemon, rare Pokemon that offered a different color scheme as opposed to their standard form, were officially introduced into the series. These Shiny Pokemon have captivated the Pokemon realm in recent years, and a large part of the player base will dedicate their time to hunting them.

Next, generation two was also one of the only Pokemon games to feature TWO Regions. Yes, if you haven’t played these games, you get to experience the ravish Johto region and partake in a brand new Pokemon game. You head back to the setting of the original games and take on all the gym battles and Elite 4 of the Kanto region. We haven’t seen any other Pokemon games really experiment with this concept, which is another reason fans love generation two. The game is essentially two Pokemon games in one. And that’s tough to beat!

Generation two also has some of the coolest Legendary Pokemon. Ho-Oh and Luigia feature some of the deepest yet outstanding lore. This is consistent with the Legendary Dog Pokemon. The Rival in these games has motifs that are unlike others in previous Pokemon games and ones to follow.

Mew Arceus Celebi Jirachi Victini Hoopa

This mythical team has maybe the strongest set of abilities of any team of Pokémon. Mew and Arceus are the Pokémon that made all the Pokémon, Celebi can send itself and others back in time, Jiarchi can grant any wish, Vicitini makes you always win, and Hoopa can open portals and in a movie like summons a ton of legendary Pokémon. These event Pokémon may be super adorable but inside of them is just so much power. You couldnt ask for a better combination of cute and power and thats what really matters in life.

How To Manage Motivation

So youve captured the gym and put your best team in it. Youre set, right? Theres no way someone is going to take it from you. That used to be the case, but with the latest update things have changed. Now you have to take into account motivation, which is your Pokemons willingness to fight translated in combat power. Every day you hold a gym, the CP of your Pokemon drops. Once it hits zero, your Pokemon get kicked out of the gym unless you feed berries to each one holding it. To make matters worse, Pokemon with CP above 3,000 lose motivation faster. This ensures a more dynamic map, but also makes it harder to hold gyms. Thats why youll want to keep yourself well stocked with berries so you can keep your Pokemon in fighting shape.

The Best Pokemon Generations

There arent really any bad Pokemon generations, but the weakest of the bunch definitely has to be generation V. The timing of its release somewhat gave the impression that developer Game Freak was hesitant towards truly advancing the series. Pokemon Black and White released in Japan on the original DS mere months before the 3DS came out. Fast-forward two years, though, and their direct sequels Black 2 and White 2 were again released on the same outdated hardware. Fans hungry for a mainline Pokemon on Nintendos new generation of handhelds were surely disappointed.

Notably, Generation V is often criticized for having lazy Pokemon designs, many of which are simply inanimate objects with facial features. Other frustrations include the fact that only the 150 new Pokemon are available before the post-game. And the fact that players dont run into a Pikachu until around twenty hours into the story likely rubbed some people the wrong way.

Players will need to capture tons of Pokémon to complete the Pokédex in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, fortunately, some Pokémon make it easier.

There is a handful of Pokémon that can be helpful in capturing all the other creatures in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. As players make their way closer to the endgame, they will need to complete the Sinnoh Dex in order to open up new areas in the region. Fortunately, in this title, players just need to see all 151 Pokémon, not capture them. Once this is done, players will need to clear out the Elite Four, become the Champion, and get the National Dex. This National Dex will bring the total Pokémon count to 493 for this game alone. Attempting to hunt down and capture all of these Pokémon is a challenge in itself. Luckily, a few Pokémon will make it easier to capture them all.

When catching a Pokémon to complete the National Dex, there are a few things players need to consider. For starters, the lower the Pokémon has its HP, the most likely the player is to capture it. Not only that, but Pokémon are more likely to be captured if they are hit with a status ailment attack. This means moves that can paralyze, freeze, or put a Pokémon to sleep. Sometimes burning and poisoning a Pokémon might make it more difficult to capture since it has the chance of fainting from the chip damage. Ideally, players should aim for Pokémon that can do both of these things within a single moveset.

Pokemon Ruby And Sapphire

While a lot of formula remained unchanged, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire took the series into a vibrant world of colour on the GameBoy Advance. The Pokemon sprites popped from screen like never before, and the magical start up screen is hard to forget. It was also the first Pokemon game to introduce a lot of elements and features that continued throughout the series. 2v2 double battles popped up for the first time, and Pokemon were also attributed with different Natures which affected their overall stats. An extensive list of new abilities were also first introduced in this entry, which were specific to different types – this really added more depth to the battles compared to the games that came before. Contests were also brought in to add new challenges to the gameplay. The Hoenn region was a great setting, and the Legendary Pokemon Groudon and Kyogre – who could summon a specific weather element into battle – were very memorable. Since Ruby and Sapphire built upon what Silver and Gold established without veering off into any drastic new direction, it didnt feel quite as special.

Several years after its release in 2003, an updated edition followed in the shape of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Pokmon Sword Or Shield: Isle Of Armor Dlc Differences

Pokémon Sword and Shield’s first expansion, Isle of Armor, is out now and is available for both versions of the game. The Pokémon DLC brings with it a new mentor, dogo master Mustard, new Pokémon and new rivals.

But, while the Isle of Armor content for Pokémon Sword and Shield is pretty much the same, which version of the game you have will determine which rival you face-off against.

Owners of Pokémon Sword will get Klara, a poison-type trainer, as their rival while owners of Pokémon Shield will face-off against Avery, a psychic-type-trainer.

Complete Research Tasks To Gain Bonuses

Field research tasks are essentially a list of quests given to you when you spin a Pokestop, like, “Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokemon,” or, “Catch 10 Pokemon with Weather Boost.” Completing them successfully gives you various bonuses including Stardust, items, and encounters with rare Pokemon like Jynx.There are currently three kinds of tasks:

• Field Research: These are basic goals with a single objective. You get one of these a day and they’re usually something simple like spinning a Pokestop.

• Special Research: These tasks are more story-based and give you multiple goals that require several steps to complete, like catching and transferring a Pokemon.

• Research Breakthrough: These tasks are based on collecting stamps and give you rewards like Stardust, items, and rare Pokemon encounters.

• You can only have up to three tasks at a time, but don’t worry, you can trash a task if you think you can’t complete it successfully. Clearing a task allows you to pick up a new one.
