Pokémon Sword and Shield how to get the bike and ride on water

In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, Rock Smash is a non-damaging move with 99 PP that never misses. It turns a wall tile in front of the user into a floor tile, even if theres a Pokémon inside it. It is incapable of destroying walls used for locked chambers as well as those at the edge of a floor, nor can it be used diagonally.

In Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, Rock Smash is now affected by Taunt.

In Gates to Infinity onwards, its now a damaging move that might lower targets Defense.

Has a chance of lowering the targets Defense by one stat rank.

Past Description

  • Prior to Version 2.10.0 : Has a good chance of lowering the targets Defense.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Rock Smash is Charizards Side Special move. Unlike in the Pokémon games, Charizard will create a boulder and crush it with its head, producing multiple fragments of debris that fly off for extra damage. Rock Smash has high damage and knockback and can potentially KO a foe at low damage.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, Rock Smash has been made Charizards Down Special move, with Flare Blitz taking its former position. It was weakened greatly, but now also grants armor to protect Charizard from incoming attacks.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rock Smash was removed from Charizards moveset in favor of Pokémon Change, as Charizard has been reincorporated back into the Pokémon Trainer character.

Pokémon Sword and Shield Bike Guide How to Get, How to ...

This takes a lot of work.

Pokémon Sword and Shield brings in a lot of changes to the typical Pokémon RPG experience, one of those being how you access bodies of water. Previously, you could just use a water-type Pokémon like Lapras and use Surf as a HM to navigate the water. This time out, its all down to your Rotom Bike.

It takes an annoyingly long time to go on water in Pokémon Sword and Shield; you will need to have travelled to Circhester before you can access Route 9. Theres a lot of work to do before you get there, which includes getting the Rotom Bike to begin with.

Go southeast out of Circhester and you will soon be travelling along Route 9. Go down the route just a bit and you will see two Team Yell members harassing the same knackered-looking doctor who gave you the Rotom Bike.

Defeat these louts in a battle and the doctor will reward you with an upgraded Rotom Bike.

Heres a map of where you need to go to find the upgraded Rotom Bike.

To use the Rotom Bike, press the + or buttons to jump on and off it and then A to turbo boost, though you will have had to have upgraded the Rotom Bike previously to use this function.

Simply ride onto the water and you will be able to swim in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Now that youre able to travel on water, you ought to go back to a Wild Area and pick up all of those rare Pokémon, such as a Gyarados, that you missed out on.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are out now on Nintendo Switch.

How To Catch Water Pokemon In Pokemon Sword & Shield

To catch Water Pokemon in Pokemon Sword & Shield, the ones that live in the water and cant be reached from land, you first have to get the Water Rotom Bike, as explained above. Then, go ahead and sail towards the Water Pokemon that you want to reach. For the most part, itll be enough to just come near them, and theyll come after you. From there, the capturing mechanic is the same as with regular, land-locked Pokemon.

Battling them is a little different though. By which I mean, theres an attack that you can get called Dive, which allows your Pokemon to, well, dive under the surface and attack. But, on the whole, Water Pokemon work pretty much exactly like regular ones do.

Unlike most titles in the series, you can actually get Surf pretty early in Pokemon Sword & Shield.

How To Surf Using The Rotom Bicycle In Pokmon Sword And Shield

The Rotom Bicycle in Pokémon Sword and Shield is a handy device. You first receive it on the way to the second gym, on Route 5, where you encounter a scientist bullied by a pair of Team Yell members. After the scientist gives it to you out of thanks, you can travel much faster around the map. Thankfully, the Rotom Bicycle comes with an upgrade to go across the water.

To add this upgrade to your device, you need to progress further into the game. Theres no shortcut method of acquiring it or finding a way to speak to a particular person.

The Rotom Bicycle upgrade is given to you by the same scientist, whom you encounter again later on in the game, on Route 9, shortly after youve gone through Circhester.

With the upgrade, all you have to do is have your bicycle out while youre approaching water and continue to ride into it. Your bike deploys two large balloons on your wheels, allowing your character to pedal across the water as if it were land.

Doing so allows you to catch Pokémon casually strolling through the water. Its similar to all of the Pokémon freely wandering the wilderness in the Wild Area on land. Its important to note you cannot interact with any of the watering spots while on your Rotom Bicycle to go fishing. You need to hop off your bike to do that.
