Pokemon Sword / Shield Eevee Evolutions Guide: How To Get Every Eeveelution

You can evolve Eevee yourself or catch its evolutions in the Wild Area; here’s where to find them.

Pokemon Sword and Shield introduce a variety of new Gen 8 Pokemon to the series, and much like previous games, many of these monsters–like Applin and Milcery–can only evolve using specific methods. However, the Switch games also introduce a couple of new ways to evolve old Pokemon–specifically Eevee, which you can catch fairly early on in your adventure at Route 4, just outside Turffield.

In past Pokemon titles, you could only obtain Glaceon or Leafeon by traveling to a specific location and leveling your Eevee up, but Sword and Shield have simplified this process by letting you evolve it using elemental stones. That isn’t the only way you can obtain Eevee evolutions in the new Pokemon games, either. Below we’ve rounded up all the ways you can get Eevee evolutions in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

How To Get A Glaceon

Glaceon is the Ice-type Eevee evolution. It came out in the same generation as Leafeon, so the two have a lot in common in terms of how to get one. Glaceon just requires an Ice stone.

  • Location: Lake of Outrage and Giant’s Bed.
  • Max Raid Battle Location: Hammerlocke Hills and Ballimere Lake.
  • Weather Requirements: Snow or Blizzard

Eevee Almost Wasn’t A Let’s Go Mascot

Pikachu and Eevee were the mascots for the;Pokémon Let’s Go! games, with each one receiving their own version. However, Eevee very nearly wasn’t chosen as the counterpart mascot to Pikachu, with Psyduck being the first option considered.

The only reason that Psyduck wasn’t chosen in the end is due to its coloring being deemed too similar to that of Pikachus, and so Eevee was chosen instead. Though Eevee is far more popular than Psyduck, this original idea is likely due to Psyduck being the favorite;Pokémon of;Junichi Masuda, one of the founding members of Game Freak and the Director of the Board.

    How To Get Eevee

    If you have save file for Pokemon: Lets Go, Eevee! on your Nintendo Switch, you can get a special Eevee that is capable of Gigantamaxing from an NPC in the Wild Area train station . It should be noted that, while you can use this Eevee to breed, it cannot be evolved. The Eevee you get here is a female, so it can be used to breed more Eevees without a Ditto.

    Eevee can also be caught in the wild in a couple of places in the game, though it has a low spawn rate. The main spot you should look for Eevee is on Route 4, north of the mine. You may have to spend a bit of time looking for Eevee here, however, as it has a spawn rate of 1% in Sword and 5% in Shield.

    Eevee can also be found in the Stony Wilderness section of the Wild Area on occasion. You will have to wait for a thunderstorm, however. The spawn rate here during thunderstorms is 10%.

    Where To Get Eeevee In Pokemon Sword And Shield

    Finding an Eevee in Pokemon Sword and Shield is fairly easy. Trainers can find Eevees in the grass along Route 4 during any time of day. Take the train from Wedgehurst to this area to start searching for this previously elusive Pokemon.

    While the location is straightforward, that doesnt mean the area is overflowing with Eevees. Eevee is just one of several Pokemon that can be found in the tall grass on Route 4. Take some time walking around the tall, yellow grass and keep an eye out for Eevees long ears.;

    Once an Eevee is spotted, just run into it to start the battle and go about it like any other Pokemon. Weaken the Eevee, throw a Poke Ball, and then add it to the party.;

    Another way to catch an Eevee is through Max Raid Battles located on Bridge Field, East Lake Axewell, Motostoke Riverbank, and Rolling Fields. While in the Wild Area, approach Pokemon Den beacons to take on Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon. When Pokemon Dens are emitting a ray of light that means there are Dynamax Pokemon hiding there, ready to be captured. Trainers wont know which Pokemon are waiting inside except for a shadow outline and mention of its type.;

    This isnt the most efficient way of getting an Eevee as there is a long list of Pokemon that could appear in any given den and Wishing Pieces are one of the games most expensive items. The benefit of catching an Eevee in a Max Raid Battle is that it will have much stronger base IV stats than those caught out in the wild.
