Now updated to include the 12km Strange Eggs

Eggs have been a relatively standard feature in Pokémon GO for a while now. They initially came in three varieties, all of which were found by spinning Pokéstops. However, a lot has happened since their introduction.

First came the special eggs that could only be found by opening gifts from friends. They require 7km of walking to hatch and the Pokémon found inside tended to be baby Pokémon, or different variants of existing Pokémon that were found in later games. A more recent update has included a brand new egg type though. Dubbed the Strange Egg these are red spotted eggs that require a whopping 12km of walking to hatch normally, and are obtained by beating a Team GO Rocket leader in battle.

To celebrate the brand new egg type being introduced into Pokémon GO, we thought wed give you an up-to-date primer on exactly how Pokémon eggs work, as well as list all of the Pokémon that can be found in each of the eggs, including the regional exclusives for each real-world territory.

Well first begin with an explanation of which Pokémon are found within each of the five different egg types, then move onto giving you tips on how to hatch your eggs efficiently.

How To Get Mega Stones In Pokemon Go

How to Get Mega Stones in Pokemon GO is a question that most trainers ask, but will never find the answer to.

The sole reason for this is the way Niantic designed the system of mega evolution in Pokemon GO.

Established in Pokemon lore in the X and Y games, Mega Evolution is a system in which certain Pokemon can gain incredible time-limited power by reaching a special evolutionary stage.

Pokemon Let

While Pokemon: Lets Go, Pikachu and Eevee are remakes of the original Gameboy games, one of the new things that both games retain from the previous games is that certain Pokemon can do Mega Evolutions.

Mega Evolutions in Lets Go, Pikachu and Eevee are somewhat different compared to the ones in recent Pokemon games. Instead of having the Pokemon hold the stone that allow them to turn into their Mega Evolution form, players will no longer need to do that. Simply get the stone and when you are in a battle, there will be an extra option that you can select to perform skills exclusive to their Mega Evolution form.

In Pokemon Lets Go, Pikachu and Eevee, there are roughly fifteen Pokemon that can turn and use their Mega Evolution skills. Before they do, you must get their stones from specific trainers.

Luckily, we got you covered as we managed to track down all Mega Evolution Stones:

‘pokmon Let’s Go’ Mega Evolution: When And Where To Get Mega Stones

How to get Mega Stones Pokemon Lets go

Mega Evolutions were a major new feature in the Pokémon franchise. They made Pokémon that weren’t that great in battle more viable while adding new wrinkles to competitive battling.

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee bring this feature back for players, but Mega Evolution works a bit differently than in the past. Normally, Mega Evolution can only be activated when a Pokémon is holding their respective Mega Stone. Hold items are non-existent in Pokémon Let’s Go, so it’s easier to activate Mega Evolutions.

In battle, players can simply press the Mega Evolution button on the screen to activate it. The Mega Evolved Pokémon will remain that way for the entirety of the battle, but will revert to its normal form once the fight is over.

Here’s when you’ll gain access to Mega Evolution in Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee and the location of all the Mega Stones.

WHEN DO YOU GET ACCESS TO MEGA EVOLUTION?

You get access to Mega Evolution pretty late in the Let’s Go story. The Pokémon trainer Blue is seen throughout the game, but he appears once again after you win your 7th Gym Badge on Cinnabar Island.

This is when he explains Mega Evolution to you. He then gives you the Key Stone as well as the Mega Stones for Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard X and Y.

How Mega Evolutions Work In Pokmon Go

Mega Evolutions are an additional, more powerful evolution that certain Pokémon – such as the original Kanto starters – can undertake.

To Mega Evolve a Pokémon in Pokémon Go, you need a resource named Mega Energy. Once a Pokémon has been Mega Evolved, it will stay in that form for a limited amount of time and can be used in a variety of battles.

You will be able to see how much time your Mega Evolution has remaining on its CP screen.

Once it has returned to its normal form, the Mega Energy you need to Mega Evolve it again later will be decreased.

This amount was further decreased on Thursday, 3rd September as Niantic performed a number of adjustments to the Mega Evolution system.

Other things you should know about Mega Evolutions:

  • You can only Mega Evolve one Pokémon at a time. If you Mega Evolve a second Pokémon, the other one will return back to normal.
  • Shadow Pokémon cannot undergo a Mega Evolution.
  • Clone Pokémon cannot undergo a Mega Evolution.
  • Mega Evolutions will be listed in your Pokédex under the ‘Mega Pokédex’. So that’s another thing to collect!
  • There will be two new Medals added to the game – one for collecting Unique Mega Evolutions, the other for total Mega Evolutions.

Mewtwo’s Mega Stones Location

  • Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y: after defeating Green, check the spot where you found Mewtwo.

Mewtwo gets a few changes with its Mega forms as well. Mega Mewtwo X is a Psychic/Fighting hybrid. It gets a massive boost in its Attack stat while retaining its normally terrifying Special Attack as well, making it pretty close to the ultimate Pokemon.

Mega Mewtwo Y is a normal Psychic type, inverting Mewtwo X’s stats –incredibly high Special Attack, comparable Attack stat. It might not be as multi-purpose as Mewtwo X, but it’s still worth your while.

How To Get Mega Energy In Pokmon Go

Mega Energy is specific to each individual Pokémon similar to how Candy works in the game. So if you want to Mega Evolve a Bulbasaur into Mega Bulbasaur, you need Bulbasaur Mega Energy.

Mega Energy is primarily found from completing Mega Raids, a type of Raid encounter featuring Mega Pokémon. The faster you win a Mega Raid, the more Mega Energy you receive and this amount was then increased in September 2020 thanks to feedback from players.

Its also been confirmed as a reward in certain Special Research rewards you can receive Mega Energy for Beedrill, for example, by completing A Mega Discovery. Since Mega Energy is specific to each type of Pokémon, we suspect there will be more ways to get Mega Energy over time as they rotate in and out of Raids though that is speculation on our part.

On Thursday, 3rd September 2020, Niantic announced that it was working on a number of adjustments to improve how Mega Energy is earned in Pokémon Go. These new Mega Energy earning methods include:

  • Additional ways to earn Mega Energy from research tasks
  • Walking with your buddy

Niantic also announced that it was working on an adjustment that would allow you to earn bonus Candy when you caught a Pokémon that shared the same type as your Mega-Evolved Pokémon.
