Pokmon Go Battle League Rules And Battle Restrictions

How to get Free Premium Raid Passes in Pokemon Go ?

Go Battle League battles seem to behave the same as a standard Battle against a Friend or someone locally, but there are some competitive-orientated rules and restrictions to make things fair:

  • Each time you enter the Go Battle League, you will play a ‘set’ of five matches.
  • There is a limit to how many Go League Battles you can participate in per day, whether free or paid, at six sets per day.
  • You can only use one of each Pokémon species in your Battle team in a contest.
  • As per game-wide Battle rule changes, if Pokémon use Charged Attacks at the same time, the Pokémon with the highest Attack stat will go first. If they are the same, one Pokémon chosen at random will go first.
  • Switching between Pokémon will reset any changes made to Attack or Defence, such as buffs or debuffs from moves made during battle.

Raid Hour started as an experiment in March 2019. Initially called Legendary Lunch Hour, Niantic set aside an hour on Wednesdays for Pokémon GO Trainers to find 5-Star Raids easier by increasing the appearance rates. After further testing, Raid Hour was renamed and rescheduled to evenings .

Since then, Raid Hour has been a near-weekly event in Pokémon GO. There have been instances of Raid Hour being canceled due to technical issues and being rescheduled later, as well as canceled completely due to other issues. The most notable cancelation was back in March 2020, when select regions Raid Hours were canceled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, followed by no Raid Hour sessions in April worldwide. In May 2020, Raid Hour returned and Trainers could participate with a new Raid Pass the Remote Raid Pass . This new item allows Trainers to battle in raids remotely from home instead of being within battle-distance of a Gym.

Pokemon Go Exploration Bonuses: Free Raid Passes Decreased Incense Effectiveness And More

A number of bonuses are being introduced to the game, while others are going away.

In 2020, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, introduced a number of changes to the free-to-play mobile game in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the pandemic forced many players to stay indoors for extended periods of time, these changes made the game easier to play without leaving the house. Or, if players did venture outside, the changes made it easier for trainers to play the game without coming into close contact with other people.

As parts of the world begin to fully reopen, Niantic has announced a series of Exploration Bonus updates that are coming to Pokemon Go. These changes will be tested first with players in New Zealand and the U.S., and the changes wont be added to the game until the end of July 2021 .

To start, Niantic will add the following exploration bonuses to the game:

  • Players will be able to receive up to two free Raid Passes each day by spinning Gym Photo Discs .
  • Incense will become more effective while players are moving.
  • Players will be guaranteed to receive a Gift each time they spin a Photo Disc at a PokeStop, so long as they have room in their inventory to hold it .
  • Players will receive 10 times the bonus experience points for spinning the Photo Disc at a PokeStop for the first time.

Niantic said, We will remove or change on a rolling basis in other countries and regions over time, and at the same time introduce new exploration bonuses.

How Can Trainers Participate In Raids In Pokemon Go

There are currently four types of Raid passes that any trainer can get. The most basic of these are regular Raid Passes. Premium Battle Passes, EX Raid Passes, and Remote Raid Passes form the other three.

Here is how to acquire each:

  • Raid Pass: Spin a PokePhoto at any gym
  • Premium Raid Pass: Bought at the shop for 100 Pokecoins
  • Remote Raid Pass: Redeem a bundle every Monday in September
  • EX Raid Pass: Invite after defeating an EX gym

Each Raid Pass gives the player access to different things, albeit they all essentially lead to some form of Raid. The normal Raid Pass will allow the player to participate in any Raid with a Tier 1-5 boss or Mega boss. These can only be used once a day.

The Premium Battle Pass works very similarly to the ordinary Raid Pass. It gives access to the same Raid battles. The only difference is that Premium Raid Passes can also be submitted for rewards in the Pokemon GO Battle League.

Remote Raid Passes also give trainers access to the same Raids that a regular Raid Pass would. With this Raid Pass, though, players can participate from a different location rather than having to walk and interact with the raid itself.

Finally, EX Raid Passes give access to, naturally, EX Raid Battles. The Raid Bosses that are found at these Raids are usually much stronger than normal, and they require many trainers to take out.

Battles In The Pokmon Go Battle League

Battles within the Go Battle League are set up the same way as Trainer Battles and Team Leader Training Battles. You select three Pokémon and will be matched up with another Trainer at random. The Battle begins with your first Pokémon against your opponent’s first Pokémon, and until a Pokémon is sent out, neither Trainer knows what the other has brought with them. If you’re lucky, the Pokémon you’ve chosen will have a Type advantage, or at least not be weak against the other Trainer’s choice. There are definitely some Pokémon better suited for these Battles than others, but there isn’t a single Pokémon that cannot be countered, so there’s a fair bit of luck involved in winning these matches.

To learn more about which Pokémon you should focus on for the Pokémon Go Battle League, see our Pokémon Go Battle League Prep Guide.

Like other Battles within Pokémon Go, you’ll mostly be using your Fast Move until you’ve built up your Charged Move, which will involve hitting several bubbles on the screen to determine how strong it hits. Each Trainer will have two Shields they can deploy against any Charged Move, but dodging isn’t really an option like it is in Raids. Whichever Trainer’s Pokémon faint first loses. The winner will move up in Rank, as well as get an increase to their Matchmaking Rating. The loser won’t lose Rank, but in higher Ranks, you can lose points in your Rating.
