Once you have it just activate it and Giovanni wont be too far off. While Giovanni always starts with Persian, he can use one of three different Pokemon for his second choice, followed by his Legendary Pokemon. Pokémon also has its own set of weaknesses and strengths. For example, bug-type Pokémon are weak against fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves. Bug-type moves are strong against dark-, grass-, and psychic-type moves. Fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves will do double damage against a bug-type, like Caterpie.

Some Pokémon have two types, which means they can have a doubled weakness or have their strength and weaknesses cancel out to just take normal damage. Rayquaza, a dragon- and flying-type, takes four times the damage from ice-type moves. By fighting six Grunts, you can collect Mysterious components, which can, in turn, be used to create a Rocket Radar. Once in possession of a Rocket Radar, you can track down Team GO Rocket Hideouts, and challenge one of three Team GO Rocket Executives.

These Executives are much stronger than the Grunts and actually know how to use their Shields, so prepare for a tough battle and prioritize burning through their shields early. Each of the three executives will reward you with their first Shadow Pokémon, which has the potential to be Shiny, and a Strange Egg, if you have room in your bag.

Additionally, if you defeat all three Team GO Rocket Executives, you can be rewarded with a Super Rocket Radar once per month that will lead you to the Boss of Team GO Rocket: Giovanni! Best Persian & Kangaskhan Counters

Since Persian is a Normal-type Pokémon, the best way to beat it is to bring a Fighting-type Pokémon, such as Machamp, Lucario, Hitmonchan or Blaziken. Persian typically uses Normal, Dark, Fairy and Rock move sets.

Kangaskhan will be one of the three Pokémon that Giovanni can send out as his second choice. It is a Normal-type Pokémon that can demonstrate a really powerful offence.

Similar to Persian, Fighting-type Pokémon are the best counters as is the case with the majority of Normal-types.

Locating Team Go Rocket Leaders

Every once in a while in Pokémon Go, you’ll have the chance to battle Team Go Rocket Grunts, and whenever you defeat one, they will drop an item called the Mysterious Component. If you manage to collect six of these, you’ll be able to combine them and craft a Rocket Radar.

This handy item reveals the location of any Leader Hideouts that are in close proximity to you. Once you’ve equipped your Rocket Radar, tap the Rocket Radar button to view the Leader Hideout locations.

As shown in one of the screenshots above, the Leader Hideouts resemble regular PokéStops on the map. And once you’re nearby, one of the Team Go Rocket Leaders will be standing right by the Leader Hideout.

Before you fight, keep in mind that Leaders are a lot tougher to beat than regular Team Go Rocket Grunts, so make sure that you line up your best Pokémon and that they’re at full health before the fight.

Once you’ve defeated a Leader, your Rocket Radar will disappear, so you will need to either purchase a new one from the Shop or locate and combine six more Mysterious Components in order to battle more Leaders.

The Team GO Rocket Boss Giovanni doesnt change his team often but Pokémon GO players who didnt fight him last month may be surprised in July 2021. Thats because hes switched to Shadow Ho-Oh, but all fo the usual tips still apply. Just like with the Team GO Rocket Leaders, you should try to burn off his two shields as quickly as possible. And with this comes the tip to always put your actual first Pokémon in the second or third position and switch to them as soon as you can. This causes a delay in Giovannis attacks, as does using a Charged Attack against him. Use this to power up your counters as listed below.

Best Nidoking Counters In Pokemon Go

Being a Ground and Poison-type Pokemon, Nidoking presents something of a challenge, since itll be resistant to Bug, Electric, Fairy, Poison, Rock and Fighting-type moves. None of those attacks will do full damage here.

Nidokings weaknesses are Ground, Ice, Psychic and Water-type Pokemon, so youll want to bring something along those lines with you. Wed maybe rule out Ground, though, since your Ground Pokemon will also be weak against Nidokings Ground-type moves.

Being a Normal-type Pokemon, Persian is very weak against Fighting-type attacks. Any Fighting-type move that you dish out should do 160 per cent extra damage. With this in mind, something like Machamp or Lucario would be a strong counterattack choice! Lucarios Power-Up Punch or Machamps Cross Chop would both be solid attacks to use against Persian.

One thing you will not want to use is a Ghost-type Pokemon. Persian has a resistance to these ghoulish creatures, with their attacks doing 39 per cent less damage to Persian. So dont use any of those!

How To Beat Persian In Pokemon Go

Players in Pokemon GO need to face Persian to beat Giovanni in most cases. It may seem easy enough, but its level is pretty high in comparison to grunts.

With the right team and strong enough Pokemon, battling Persian shouldn’t be too much of a problem. In Pokemon GO, it is a Normal-type Pokemon and evolves from Meowth. It’s heavily associated with Giovanni and is usually part of his lineup when battling the Team Rocket Boss.

In general, Persian will use Dark-type and Normal-type fast attacks, and the charged attacks will consist of Dark, Rock, or Fairy-type moves. In order to counter those types, using a Fighting-type Pokemon is typically the best option against a Persian. Pokemon that aren’t Fighting-type, but possess a Fighting movie, are also desired for the Persian battle.

That makes Melmetal one of the best options in a battle against Persian and Giovanni. However, for Melmetal to be effective, it needs to have Superpower as a charged move. Superpower is a Fighting-type move that can quickly take down Persian, and Melmetal’s Steel-type makes it incredibly resistant to Persian’s attacks.

Other options for taking down Persian in Pokemon GO include Machamp, Rhyperior, and Lucario. Each has the option for either Rock-based moves or Fighting-type moves to take Persian down quickly.

As of July 7, 2020, Team GO Rocket has now taken to the skies. Four times a day, a Team GO Rocket balloon can appear on the map. These encounters work almost identically to Team GO Rocket PokéStop Invasions. Under normal circumstances, Trainers can expect:

Without a Rocket Radar, you will encounter Grunts.
Jesse and James in their Meowth hot air balloon are no longer appearing, but should they return, they give you the chance to earn two Mysterious Components for the one balloon.
With a normal Rocket Radar equipped, you will encounter one of the Team GO Rocket Executives.
With a Super Rocket Radar equipped, you will have the chance to encounter Giovanni, himself.
The first balloon will show up between midnight and 6 AM local time.
The second balloon will show up between 6 AM and noon local time.
The third balloon will show up between noon and 6 PM local time.
The final balloon will show up between 6 PM and midnight local time.

The line ups for Shadow Pokémon are the same as if you encountered Team GO Rocket at a PokéStop. If you don’t beat the Executive or Giovanni, your Radar will remain intact until you are able to defeat a Team GO Rocket leader.
