Pokmon: Every Trade Evolution In The Series

Trade To Evolve Plus New Gen 5 Pokemon Added to Pokemon Go!

The only way to complete the Pokédex and catch them all is to trade with people, as some Pokémon will only evolve by sending them to other players.

The Pokémonseries has always forced players to interact in order to finish each game. This is because some Pokémon will only evolve if they are traded with another player, which means that cooperation is needed in order to catch them all.

Part of what made Pokémon Red and Blue so popular was the interaction they allowed between players. Online gaming didnt exist out the PC gaming bubble, and most two-player games involved working together to clear levels, or facing each other in fighting games. What separated Pokémon from the other games of the era was that it combined the single-player and multiplayer aspects together. The player could grow their team during their journey through Kanto, and then see how that team stacked up against the one owned by their friends. This was all facilitated by the Game Boys Link Cable, which allowed two systems to connect together.

The Link Cable also allowed people to trade Pokémon with each other. This step was necessary for completing the Pokédex, as some Pokémon could only evolve through trade, which is an element that kept on being expanded in subsequent Pokémon titles.

Dig For Prism Scales In Pokmon Bdsps Grand Underground

The Prism Scale is an item that has been added to the Sinnoh region since the original Diamond and Pearl games, which originally only allowed Feebas to evolve by increasing its beauty. However, since players could no longer cook Poffins to raise their Feebas beauty after Gen IV, the Prism Scale was introduced so players could still obtain a Milotic. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl include both of these methods of evolution, but Prism Stones are a rare find that can only be dug up in the Pokémon BDSP Grand Underground.

Can You Breed Pokemon In Pokemon Gold And Silver

As you can see from the table above, Pokémon in Gold/Silver can now evolve in two new ways and they can also breed! In Red, Blue and Yellow, some Pokémon evolved when they were traded. This is still true, but there are now Pokémon that evolve only when traded while holding a particular item.

The classic four evolutions from Red/Blue/Yellow evolve only by trading, while most Pokémon from later generations require an item to be held in addition.

The following Pokémon evolve through trade: Pokémon Gold/Silver includes a new type of evolution that basically combines Trade Evolution with the Induced Stone Evolution. In order for these Pokémon to evolve, you will need to trade them while theyre holding a specific item.

What Is Trade Evolution

In the core games, several species of Pokémon require Trading to evolve at all. You could work a Kadabra all the way to level 99, and it would still never Evolve, but the moment you Traded it, it would Evolve into an Alakazam. Pokémon Go has featured some of the species which Evolve by Trading since day one, long before Trading was even allowed in the game. These Pokémon could be Evolved in the same manner as any other Pokémon in Go: lots of Candies.

Now that Pokémon Go has introduced Trade Evolution, these Pokémon can still be evolved with Candies, but if you Trade them first, they can be evolved for free. That means a whole lot more Candies you can use to power up these Pokémon. Even better, Trade Evolution is retroactive, so any Pokémon eligible for Trade Evolution that you Traded for in the past can now be Evolved for free.

What You Need To Know About Trade Evolution

New Gen 5 Pokémon and Trade Evolution Added to Pokémon GO ...

The Concept

Trading has been available ever since the very first games. Back then, it was tricky since both players needed to have the Gameboy or Gameboy Advance and a cable to connect them both. In the later systems like the DS, 3DS, and current Nintendo consoles, trading can be done through the internet. Thats very convenient since you can trade wherever you want and with players all over the world.

The Process

Pokemon trading can be done when players go to the Pokemon Center or in some of the games a specific building where trading can be made possible. You just go to the NPC where the dialogue will allow you to start trading. The trading process is very easy . Both you and the other player just have to put up the Pokemon that you want to trade.

When both parties have the right Pokemon selected, just choose Trade and it will proceed. When you have a Pokemon that evolves through trading selected, that Pokemon will evolve once it reaches the other player. Thats when you trade again so that the evolved Pokemon will be returned to you and you pretty much got what you wanted.

The Dragon Scale is one of the more difficult items to obtain since it can only be found as a held item when catching wild Horsea, Seadra, Dratini, and Dragonair. Its easier to catch these Pokémon in the wild with a Super Rod, but they can also be found in the Grand Undergrounds Pokémon Hideaways. While Horsea and Seadra will start appearing after the Sinnoh Dex is completed, Dratini and Dragonair will only appear once the National Dex has been completed.

Where To Get Trade Evolution Items

It’s not enough to know the name of a trade evolution item, of course. You’ll need to know where to find them.

In a nice bit of neatness, every trade evolution item is obtained via a Jubilife Town NPC named Simona. She’s not hard to miss, plying her wares as she does near the edge of town. But Simona only accepts one kind of currency, and it’s not something you’ll receive from your job with the Survey Corps.

Trade Range Increase Test In Pokmon Go Explained

On November 12th 2020, Niantic announced that, for a short time period, the trade range distance in Pokémon Go would be increased and that, depending on the data they collected during this test, an increased trade range might be included as a bonus in future events.

The trade range distance has been increased to 12km, which means that you can trade with any of your Pokémon Go friends who are within a 12km of your location. This increased range was introduced on Thursday, 12th November.

Thank you to The Silph Road subreddit for figuring out this information.

This increase ran from Thursday, 12th November until Monday, 16th November.

Unlocking The Trade System

You may have the hardware but in the games, you need to fulfill certain requirements. For example, in Pokemon Red, Blue, and Green, you need to have the Pokedex first before you can start trading. The NPC at the Pokemon Center where you can trade will just tell you that the service is unavailable at this moment.

You need to progress the story a little until the trading system is unlocked. In some cases like the remakes such as FireRed and LeafGreen, you need to finish the game to unlock the National Pokedex to be able to trade the other Pokemon. Anyway, here are the requirements per game to give you an idea so that you get the Pokemon that evolve through trading.

Generation I

Obtain a Pokédex from Professor Oak in Pallet Town to trigger the trading system using the Time Capsule

    Pokmon That Cannot Be Traded

    Pokemon That Evolve By Trading

    Mid-generation additions

Starting with Generation IV, mid-generation releases started including new moves, items, forms, or even species of Pokémon. Since, prior to Generation VIII, they were impossible to trade to games that predate them, additional limitations have been put in place for them specifically. Most can be circumvented by altering the Pokémon’s moveset, held item and/or form, and with the exception of the Spiky-eared Pichu-related limitation, all of them have been lifted in their respective following Generations:

    • In Generation IV or V, new forms or items cannot be traded at all, even between games that support them. They include:
  • New species introduced in the games: Poipole, Naganadel, Stakataka, Blacephalon, and Zeraora.
  • Partner Cap Pikachu, Rockruff with Own Tempo and Dusk Form Lycanroc.
  • Starting with Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, the games stopped supporting direct trades between games that aren’t paired releases entirely, rendering this matter moot. Also, starting with Pokémon Sword and Shield, they can receive support for new moves, items, forms, and species via updates, removing the need for such limitations as long as they are kept up-to-date.

    Other cases

Pokémon with certain Gift Ribbons cannot be traded over the GTS or through Wonder Trade.

Due to requiring special handling by the game, fused Pokémon cannot be traded. These are Black and White Kyurem, Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane Necrozma and Ice Rider and Shadow Rider Calyrex.

Pokmon Go Trade Evolution List And How Trade Evolutions Work

Before we get into the specifics of trading itself, let’s start with 2020’s big new feature – trade evolutions.

In the mainline Pokémon games, there’s a set of Pokémon that can only be evolved if they’re traded with another player. When Pokémon Go was released, these Pokémon were all evolved through candy, due to the lack of trading.

Now, however, trade evolution has been incorporated into Pokémon Go, offering a different evolution method for a specific group of Pokémon. These Pokémon are:

    • Kadabra
    • Phantump
    • Pumpkaboo

Once you’ve traded one of the above Pokémon, the candy cost for evolving them into their third and final evolution will be reduced to zero. This will allow you to quickly add this new Pokémon to your Pokédex, while also gaining a powerful new team member.

If you don’t have any fellow trainers to trade with, however, you’ll still be able to evolve these Pokémon with the candy.

It costs 100 candy to evolve Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler and Haunter from Gen 1.

It costs 200 candy to evolve Boldore, Gurrdurr, Karrablast and Shelmet from Gen 5.

It’s also important to note that Pokémon that evolve using a combination of items and candy in Pokémon Go don’t receive the trade evolution discount. Even though, in the mainline games, a requirement of their evolution is being traded with another player.

The Gen 5 Roster Just Got Bigger

Pokémon Go is finally adapting the trade-based evolution mechanic from the mainline series.

As of today, you can trade certain established Pokémon like Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler, and Haunter to wipe out the Candy cost needed to evolve them. Whats more, if youve gotten any of them through trading in the past, youre covered the no-Candy evolution bonus will retroactively apply.

The game also added a range of monsters hailing from the Unova region, several of which Boldore, Gurdurr, Karrablast, and Shelmet can take advantage of the new trade evolution perk.

Accelgor is a hella cool Pokémon and Gigalith is a tank, so consider making the necessary trades.

Youll also have more fifth-generation Pokémon to hunt in the wild and fresh eggs to hatch.

    Pokémon appearing in the wild

    • Roggenrola
    • 2 km Eggs: Venipede and Dwebble
    • 5 km Eggs: Roggenrola, Tympole, Trubbish, Karrablast, Joltik, and Shelmet
    • 10 km Eggs: Timburr, Tirtouga, Archen, and Axew

    Pokémon appearing in raids

Pokémon appearing in the wild in certain parts of the world

    • North America, South America, and Africa: Throh
    • Europe, Asia, and Australia: Sawk
