Pokemon Spanish First Edition Charizard

1st Edition Charizard PSA 10 Unboxing – Pokemon Card Base Set Rare

Sold in October, 2020 for $35,100

To help promote the Pokemon Trading Card Game throughout the world, Wizards of the Coast printed the base set in several different languages.

The Spanish version offered native Spanish speakers throughout Europe and Latin America a much more enjoyable way to play their favorite card game.

You can see the Spanish translation throughout this card, but the Spanish version does leave the name “Charizard” as-is.

Other versions, such as the French and German, presented the Charizard character with a unique name altogether.

To verify the card is indeed a First Edition, look to the lower-left of the character box and you will find the “Edicion 1” symbol.

Just seven examples of this card have achieved a PSA 10 grade, making it one of the toughest multi-language First Edition Charizards to find in that condition.

First Edition Holographic Zapdos

Estimated PSA 10 Gem Mint Value: $1,400

Together with Articuno and Moltres, this electric and flying creature is one of the three Legendary birds of Kanto.

Only seen during thunderstorms, Zapdos will create lighting bolts and loud cracking sounds as it flaps its wings when airborne alerting everyone in the area to its presence.

The yellow and black spiked feathers that surround its body make Zapdos look just like the blasts of electricity it creates.

What Makes The 1st Edition Holographic Dark Charizard So Valuable

Shortly after the release of Base Set, we had Jungle, then Fossil. Base Set 2 was was met with disappoint among fans hoping for something new. Thankfully, the 2000 Team Rocket set hit a home run, with edgier artwork and the introduction of Dark Pokemon.

The 1st Edition Dark Charizard is an iconic card. Its the first time wed seen something a bit different from Mitsuhiro Aritas OG design. This time Ken Sugimori opted for devilish looking Charizard that almost looks like hes considering whether to attack, or fly off into the night sky. The more you look at it, the more youre immersed into the scene. It really is clever artwork and widely appreciated among fans.

Because of its popularity, theres a decent number of PSA 10s out there, but still, there are 3x as many PSA 9s.

For many, myself included, Team Rocket is one of the best vintage Pokemon sets, and as such, Dark Charizard will always be a highly valuable and desired card.

Charizard Pokemon Card Sells For $420k

Pinterest The worlds catalog of ideas

While the Nintendo hobby has seen a resurgence in popularity for years now, Pokemon cards have had an explosion in value in 2020. Leading the market boom was the Base Set Charizard which has continued to skyrocket in prices.

The popular Pokemon shattered all previous records on March 19 when a 1st Edition Shadowless Charizard sold for $420k at a PWCC auction. The rare collectible was rated a PSA 10 and was in pristine condition.

According to the auction house, only 122 Charizards in the whole world have scored a Gem Mint slab by the grading company. Making the item even rarer is the fact that it was from the sets first edition run and had Shadowless artwork.

The popular Pokemon card has had an interesting sales history as it has seen incredible growth in value year after year. For instance in 2020, Grammy-winning rapper Logic paid $226k for the same 1st Edition Shadowless variant. In 2021, the collectible jumped even higher and auctioned off for $369k before being surpassed at $420k just a year later.

Incredibly, the Base Set Charizard is still not the most expensive card ever sold. That honor still goes to the rare Pikachu Illustrator CoroCoro Comics Promo which went for a mind-blowing $900,000 in February auction. The Japanese card is more scarce due to being a prize in an art contest in 1995.

Pokemon Psa9 Mint Tropical Wind Tropical Mega Battle Promo Trophy Card Sold In March 2021 For Us Us $70000

The Tropical Mega Battle took place in 1999 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, Hawaii. This event was an invite only and was a battle between the best 50 players from Canada, Latin America, Europe, the United States, and Japan. During the event, there were a handful of various trophy cards that could be obtained. And this was one of them. A total of 61 of these cards have been graded by PSA. There are sixteen 9s and three 10s.

What Makes The Japanese Topsun Holographic Prism Charizard So Valuable

Now for something so rare, its hard to even price!

Interestingly, Japanese Topsun Pokemon cards came in packs with chewing gum. There were two sticks of gum, and two cards per pack. Out of the 150 cards, 16 were Prism cards, which is the holofoil design you see above.

Unlike early WOTC boosters where the chance of pulling a holo version were 1 in 3, the chances of getting a prism card in Topsun packs were only 1 in 40!!! Now we begin to understand just how rare the Charizard is, especially in a PSA 10! In fact, only 18 of them exist, and I doubt that number will ever change. At the time of writing, theres a PSA 9 on eBay for over £13k.

How Can You Tell If Pokemon Cards Are First Edition

One of the first things people want to know when looking at Pokemon cards is if they are first edition. Naturally, these cards are worth more as they are the first print run of that particular set. Its pretty straightforward to identify whether a card is first edition or not, as it will contain a small version of the symbol below. This symbol will predominately appear in the middle of the card to the left-hand-side. However, the exception to the rule are Energy Cards which have the first edition symbol in the top right-hand-corner of the card.

Pokemon Neo Destiny 1st Edition Shining Charizard

Sold in January, 2021 for $20,250

The fourth main expansion of the Neo Series, Neo Destiny, is notable for featuring both “light” and “dark” Pokémon whose characteristics and “destiny” are reflective of how a Trainer trains them.

Light Pokémon are caring and bright-spirited, while dark Pokémon are the exact opposite.

Dark Pokémon have appeared in several different series, but the Neo Destiny set is the only one in which you will find the light Pokémon.

Charizard appears as neither light nor dark in Neo Destiny but instead as a special Shining Charizard that gets its name from the unique foil design that glimmers and shines in the light.

The Shining Pokémon in this series also feature a unique rarity symbol in the lower right in the form of three stars.

What Makes The Japanese No Rarity Symbol Charizard So Valuable

Collectors go mad for misprint or error cards. And for our next Charizard card, we have to take our time machine all the way back to 1996. No Rarity Symbol cards from the Japanese Base Set are widely considered the equivalent of the English 1st Edition. These cards are from the very first print run, and as the same suggests, they didnt have a rarity symbol in the bottom right corner.

Although theres little documentation of when rarity symbols were introduced to the Japanese Base Set, it wasnt particularly long after no rarity cards were released. As such, theyre incredibly rare and valuable. Combine that scarcity with our main man Charizard, and only 6 PSA 10s in existence, its no wonder this is one of the most expensive Charizards one could ever wish to acquire.

New Highest Price Ever Paid For A Base Set Charizard Card

Charizard is the big red Pokemon that resembles a dragon for those new to the collectible. The character was made famous in the late 1990s and is famous for the prices collectors are willing to pay for some of the nicest graded examples known. Charizard outdid his own six-figure card record over the weekend at the PWCC March Premier Auction.

Collectors Dashboard has followed the progress of all the high-end Pokemon card sales as the main characters become an alternative asset every collector wants to track.

The highest price ever paid for a base Pokémon Charizard card was set in the PWCC March Premier Auction over the weekend with this 1999 Pokémon Base Set Shadowless 1st Edition Holo Charizard selling for $420,000.

While the sale set a new all-time record for a base set Charizard card, one thing that also stood out here is that this appears to be the third-highest price paid in a public marketplace for a Pokémon card of all time.

The cards price was buoyed not only by its PSA 10 Gem Mint grade only 121 PSA 10s exist in the world at the time of the auction but also by the fact that it is one of the cleanest copies in existence. The card has no visible whitening on the back, appears to have perfect centering, and looks to have no holo imperfections.

Clearly, the non-sports card collecting world is every bit as hot as the sports card hobby.

Passionate collectors are obviously willing to shell out big bucks to land any one of the prized possessions on this list.

The video games, television shows, and the cards themselves transformed Pokémon into a worldwide phenomenon with an enormous fan base.

And many of those kids who grew up with these cards are now adults with more spending power able to pay big bucks for them in top condition.

It doesnt look like that trend will slow anytime soon as these cards have found their place as one of the most popular non-sports sets in the hobby.

What Is Your Plan Moving Forward Into 2021 What Are You Collecting Just Now

In 2021 I want to complete my 1st edition PSA 10 set. At the moment they are all at PSA getting graded. As for the store, we want to become bigger, not the largest in Europe, but we want to become the largest shop to sell only Pokémon in the whole world. We also want everyone to stay healthy within these difficult times.

What Makes The First Edition Lugia So Valuable

I spent $40,000 on a 1st Edition PSA 10 Base Set Charizard Pokemon Card!!!

Where Charizard is the poster boy for Gen 1, Lugia is that for Gen 2. This legendary Pokemon was the star of Pokemon The Movie 2000, and on the box artwork for Pokemon Silver on Gameboy.

Lugia as a character is much loved, but when we combine that with a set as stunning as Neo Genesis, the 1st Edition Lugia card was always destined for greatness.

With such a large clear holofoil area, this was always going to be a tough one to grade. In fact, only 43 PSA 10s exist, and only 3 BGS 10s!

A PSA 10 recently sold for $129k, but with the card above only one subgrade away from Beckett Black Label, it totally justified its $144k price tag.

A 1st Edition Base Set Charizard 4/102 Arguably The Pinnacle Of English Pokmon Trading Cards

In 2020, Influencers jumped onboard with Pokémon and the already expensive investment of the fire lizard increased exponentially. In December 2020, a PSA GEM MT 10 sold for $350,100 highlighting the incredible growth of the hobby over the last 12 months.

Yves Bruynen sent his 1st Edition Base Set Charizard through Ludkins Collectables grading service in September 2020, fast forward to December and he was the owner of the 121st PSA 10 in existence.

I sat down with Yves to discuss the history of his card and the impact a 6 figure Pokémon card has had on his collection.

Are Charizards Worth Collecting

When it comes to Pokemon cards, my motto is collect what you love. If youre not a big fan of the character , then Id recommend against going down this path. If however, you like the character, enjoy the artworks and potentially want something as an investment piece too, then collecting Charizard cards is worth it. Just remember though, card rarity and condition is very important in terms of value. Get clued up before investing heavily.

Is My Pokemon 1st Edition Charizard Worth $50000

Before you start planning for a Scrooge McDuck-esque money bin , if you have an original Charizard, its probably not worth thousands of dollars.

First off, this is the 1st Edition version that is commanding the huge amounts. The 1999 Pokemon Charizard has a few different versions. All are coveted and command decent money. But its the 1st Edition version, noted by the small bit of foil, that identifies this one.

However, the big driver of these massive sales is the condition. Theyre among the best of the best out there, which is reflected with the grades. Just two have been graded BGS 10 Pristine. As for PSA 10 copies, there were 110 at the time of this sale.

Even if your 1999 Pokemon 1st Edition Charizard Holo isnt in perfect condition, its still likely to draw interest and carry some value just like when it came out of packs nearly 20 years ago. It might just not be measured in tens of thousands of dollars.
