Pokmon Go’s Next Community Day: January Community Day Date And Time Explained

Here’s everything you need to know about January Community Day:

Highlighted Pokémon: Spheal

Time: 11am to 5pm local time

Bonus 1: 3x Catch XP

Bonus 2: Incense activated during the event will last three hours

Bonus 3: Lure Modules activated during the event will last three hours

Exclusive moves for evolution Walrein: Powder Snow , Icicle Spear

How useful is this Community Day?

Coming off the back of the Holidays 2021 event – which saw a costumed Spheal and the introduction of a shiny Spheal – it’s strange to have this highlighted so soon in Community Day.

That said, January is a fitting time for an ice Pokémon – and the introduction of two new moves gives this some real potential in the ice and water typing stakes. How it’ll fit into the meta exactly is unknown – but it’ll be worth trying to catch a strong one and evolving it during the event if you can.

The bonus, of course, is perhaps the other real reason to get involved – with Spheal being an easy creature to get an Excellent throw, and with 3x Catch XP up for grabs, combined with a Lucky Egg there’s the opportunity to gather a lot of XP during the six hour window. Just make sure you wrap up warm and take plenty of breaks!

How Do I Make The Most Of December Community Day

Tons of bonuses will be active from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day in your local time, so you should take advantage. Catch XP and Stardust will be doubled, and Incubators will hatch eggs in half the steps, so you should use any bonus items that you have.

From Dec. 17-20, players will also get to do one extra special trade per day, and trades will cost 25% less Stardust, so if you have good Pokémon to swap around, this is also a great time to do it.

That all being said, if youre missing any of the above Community Day Pokémon or their evolutions, you should definitely use an Incense and catch what you can.

Swablu Will Be Pokmon Gos May 2021 Community Day Pokmon

It has been confirmed by Niantic that Pokémon Gos May 2021 Community Day will be all about Swablu, the cotton bird Pokémon. The event is set to take place on May 15 from 11 AM to 5 PM in your local time zone. If you evolve a Swablu into Altaria before the event ends, it will be able to learn the exclusive move moonblast.

The information surrounding Swablu had been leaked the day before the official announcement. The details were shared by datamining group Pokéminers, who were learned about the event when it was first pushed to Pokémon Gos software. While the group learned about the Pokémon, they did not learn about the exclusive move Altaria could learn. Swablu will also have an increased chance of being shiny.

On May 15, a new mega Pokémon arrives, Mega Altaria, a Dragon and Fairy-type Pokémon. All players will have the chance to encounter this Pokémon in Mega Raids, and by defeating this Pokémon youll gain access to Mega Altaria energy.

Before the event starts, youll have the option to purchase the exclusive Community Day ticket called Cotton-Winged Bird. The Community Day ticket will be available for purchase a few days before May 15, and it will cost $0.99. You do not have to buy the ticket to participate in the event, but it unlocks an exclusive special research that rewards you with multiple items and Swablu encounters. The ticket is only good for you to use during the event.

How Good Is Altaria In Raids And Pvp

In PvE content like gyms and raids, Altaria isnt very good. Its outclassed in both its flying- and dragon-typing, and its random assortment of fairy-type moves dont really help it. When turned into Mega Altaria, that changes a bit, as it can resist dragon-type moves with its newly gained fairy-typing. It will also boost other dragon- and fairy-type moves while raiding. Its still not the best, but it can fill a niche if you have the Mega Energy to spare.

In PvP content, Altaria is pretty good in Great League, according to GamePress. Its use of Dragon Breath makes it a terror to match up against, since that move is so particularly strong.

May 2021 Featured Pokemon: Swablu

This month’s featured Pokemon is Swablu, the pre-evolved form of Altaria. All throughout the event, Swablu will appear in the wild much more frequently than normal, making this a good opportunity to stock up on Swablu Candy. You’ll want to take this chance while you can like Magikarp, Swablu requires a whopping 400 Candy to evolve, so you’ll need to catch a ton of them if you’re hoping to get Altaria.

You’ll also have a chance to encounter Shiny Swablu during the event. This variant is yellow rather than blue, so you’ll be able to immediately tell if you’ve found one. Like other Shiny Pokemon, however, it will be rare, but you’ll have more opportunities to encounter a Shiny Swablu if you use an Incense during the event.

How To Catch Shiny Bulbasaur In Pokemon Go

Bulbasaur will automatically appear in the Pokemon Go overworld. Simply booting up the app will cause them to appear near your avatar. Of course, walking around will increase the number of Bulbasaur that trainers encounter in the wild, and in turn, increase the chances of finding a Shiny Bulbasaur.

The rate of a particular Shiny Pokemon appearing during a Community Day is proven to be increased during the event. According to the Pokemon Go community site, The Silph Road the Shiny odds for any given Pokemon is approximately 1 in 500. However, certain events like Community Day will increase those odds. The Silph Road confirms that the chance of finding a specific Pokemon during its own Community Day is a very doable 1 in 25.

To catch a Shiny Bulbasaur in Pokemon Go during Community Day, trainers simply have to encounter every one of the Grass-type found in the wild during the three-hour window. Once a trainer is taken to the capture screen, they will find out if they have found a Shiny or not.

To identify a Shiny Bulbasaur, trainers will see the Grass-type with different coloration. Shiny Bulbasaur changes from its usual green color to a lighter green. Any trainer who has trouble identifying a Shiny Bulbasaur can find the Shiny symbol next to the Pokemons name during the capture portion of the encounter to make sure.

Trainers can also increase the number of Bulbasaur they encounter by using an Incense or traveling near Gyms or PokeStops.
