Pokemon Pop Series 5 Gold Star Umbreon

To help boost participation in Pokemon leagues and Pokemon Organized Play events, players were treated to exclusive POP series cards released on a regular basis over roughly a five-year span.
POP Series 1 kicked things off around September 2004 with POP Series 9 bringing things to a close around September 2009.
Released between March 2007 and September 2007, POP Series 5 was the last EX Series promotional set and featured Espeon and Umbreon, two of the eight Pokemon that evolve from Eevee.
The POP Series 5 checklist contained seventeen cards in total with Epseon and Umbreon being the most elusive of them all, noted by the gold star distinction next to their name on the card fronts.
As of this writing, just fifty examples of this Umbreon card have achieved PSA 10 status.
Rayquaza Gold Star Holo Ex Deoxys

An early favorite of Ruby & Sapphire, Rayquaza has seen an uptick in popularity over the last decade. So it makes sense then that its cards would also start to climb up in value over time. In 2005, The Pokemon Company released the Ex Deoxys TCG expansion featuring the Flying / Dragon-type.
As a gimmick to get Pokemon card collectors interested in the set, the Japanese company introduced Gold Star Pokemon cards into the hobby. As mentioned earlier, the incredibly rare Pokemon cards featured a special symbol next to the name of the mon. Of course, the king of these marked collectibles is the Hoenn Legendary itself.
In December 2020, a perfectly graded Gold Star Rayquaza sold at auction for $45,100. Given the Legendarys continued popularity in the franchise, and just how little of the gold Pokemon cards were actually produced, we expect this item to increase in value as time goes on.
Mewtwo Vstar & Mewtwo V Alternate Full Art Are The Most Expensive Pokmon Go Tcg Cards
Decades after its worldwide release in 1998, Pokémon Red and Blue is still one of the series’ most popular generations. So it should come as little surprise, that Kanto Legendary Mewtwo has quickly taken the crown as the Pokémon GO TCG‘s most valuable card. Coming in at second place is the Psychic-type’s debut as a VSTAR card. The rare variant made its first appearance in February’s Pokémon Brilliant Stars TCG expansion and has already made a splash in the competitive scene due to the card’s incredibly powerful stats. The Secret Rare Gold Mewtwo VSTAR has already been selling on auction sites for as high as $80 but has on average been going for $50.
The Pokémon GO TCG‘s most valuable card goes to the Alternate Art Mewtwo V card. Ever since its inclusion in the Sun and Moon TCG, fans can’t seem to get enough of Alternate Art cards which feature full artwork depicting Pokémon in unique locations. Collectors have gone into a frenzy for the Mewtwo V Alternate Art card, which has sold for $170 on the high end. Day after the set’s release, the rare Mewtwo has settled to be selling for $70 on average, making it the crossover sets most expensive card.

Pokemon World Championships Promo No 2 Trainer

The incredibly rare Trophy card was handed out at the 2006 World Championship held in Anaheim, California. Since these Pokemon cards were only given to winners, it makes their population extremely low.
According to PSA, only three of these collectibles are even said to have been issued at the competition. It almost feels like a crime putting this Pokemon card at this spot because due to its scarcity, it rarely goes up for sale
However in February 2021, one finally appeared online. With over 150 bids, this item brought in a mind-blowing $110,100 at a PWCC auction.
Look At Sold Listings For The Same Pokemon Card
On the left-hand side of the eBay search result, or in the filters tab, you can choose to view only sold listings.
The reason to do this is sellers will often list cards for more than theyre really worth, resulting in listings going on for months with no one buying the card. But if you view only sold listings, you can instantly see what people are actually willing to pay for the card.
If your card is in worse than near mint condition, you will need to look through these sold listings for cards in matching condition. Typically, sellers dont put their card condition in the title, so it can be difficult to use the search function to find matching cards.

Tcg Pokmon Cards Are Now Being Over
Although most expensive Pokémon cards have come from retro 90s expansions, the modern TCG has also been impacted by the booming market. Because of surging prices, the TCG became flooded by scalpers trying to make a profit on the popular card game. As a result, there was a massive TCG shortage in 2020, with many Pokémon card sets being sold out as soon as they were made available. During the launch of the Pokémon Shining Fates TCG set, many fans were not actually able to find booster packs for up to six months after the expansion’s release. The problem became so bad popular retailers like Target even temporarily suspended the sales of TCG products altogether.
All of this changed in 2021, when The Pokémon Company began drastically increasing TCG production to combat the shortage problems. According to Serebii owner Joe Merrick, the Nintendo company produced over 9.2 billion additional Pokémon cards in 2021 alone. The increase in products put an end to the stock problems plaguing the tabletop game for the past two years and allowed access to new Pokémon Sword and Shield TCG sets without any problems.

Are Pokmon Cards As Valuable As They Seem
With most Pokémon TCG expansions, fans will have to spend hundreds of dollars before pulling a rare Pokémon card that is valuable. Even then, the TCG card isn’t even actually worth anything until it’s sent off to a grading service such as PSA, Beckett, or CGC. Because grading is strict, it’s actually really hard to get a PSA 10 which is where all the value is at. So even assuming that everything goes right for the collector, the values for most modern Pokémon cards have seemed to have flattened out. That doesn’t mean the TCG won’t see another boom, but in order to get the insane numbers that many retro TCG sets have brought in, Pokémon Card collectors could be waiting decades.
For Pokémon TCG fans that are patient and willing to wait for a later pay-off, the best Pokémon card products to invest in should feature an extremely sought-after card or have a unique gimmick such as Evolving Skies Eevee theme. Not every retro set has exploded in value, such as several Sun and Moon era expansions that lacked big items. The final thing to look out for is rare promotional Pokémon cards given out in contests or packaged with other products. Cards with a low population, have a better chance of exploding in value later on. Ultimately though, unless a Pokémon TCG collector is able to find retro collectibles for cheap and in good condition, most modern Pokémon cards are not a great investment.

Tamamushi University Magikarp: $66100
Produced as a promotion for magazine publisher Shogakukan’s Celadon University campaign, this Magikarp card was awarded to those who successfully became “Pokemon Professors”. By mailing in the Entrance Test, Professor Test, Super Professor Test, and Hyper Professor Test , 1000 Magikarps were up for grabs.
Though so many were printed, only 91 have been identified by the PSA so far. PSA 10-graded cards fetch a much higher price than any other condition, getting $66,100 at auction.
Origin Forme Palkia V $7941
In order to unlock that one-hit knockout potential of Palkia VSTAR, youll need to evolve it from a Palkia V first. Thats likely not why this version is valued so highly, though: just look at that art.
Befitting the controller of all physical space, its a genius move to put Origin Forme Palkia in a bizarre, M.C. Escher-esque landscape of twisting geometry and floating pillars. This is some of the most striking art weve seen on a Pokemon card in a very long time, and it being part of such an essential deck only makes it better.

Japanese Promo Master’s Scroll Daisuki Club 8600 Points
Sold in March 2021, for $35,200
This holographic Master’s Scroll card is one of several item cards that were part of the L-P Promotional cards released between September 2009 and August 2010.
Once a player accumulated 8,600 action points, he or she would earn the Master Rank distinction and a prize in the form of this Master’s Scroll card.
Given the difficulty of acquiring such a massive amount of action points, not many members ever received one of these cards, making it one of the rarest promotional Pokemon cards in the hobby.
Pokemon First Edition Chansey
Sold in November, 2020 for $36,877
Fewer than fifty examples of the First Edition Holographic Chansey have received the elusive PSA 10 distinction, making it one of the most difficult First Edition Holos to find in that grade.
Chansey is a lovable pink, normal-type Pokémon that uses the egg held in its pouch to complete its signature move known as “Soft-Boiled” to help heal people and other Pokémon.
Many believe that Chansey can bring joy and happiness to those who catch it in the Pokemon world, while this card in high grade will bring lots of money to those who own it in the real world.

Gold Star Pop Series 5 Umbreon: $27000
The Japanese version of the Shining Umbreon Pokemon card is pretty highly desired, with its unique coloring and gorgeous frame-piercing artwork making it fittingly beautiful as one of the first shiny Pokemon to appear on a card.
However, its price is so high because of much more than just its looks and popularity. The Shining Umbreon card only saw a very limited release through the Japanese Pokemon Players’ Club for hitting the maximum number of experience points through attending organised play events between 2005 and 2006, making it one of the rarest cards out there. In 2020, PWCC Auctions sold a PSA-10 copy of it for $20,000, showing just how in-demand it is. Notably, this card was reprinted for the first time ever in 2021, as part of the 25th Anniversary Celebrations set. Though that version is worth way, way less, it’s still the third most valuable card in the expansion.
Squirtle First Edition $370
Squirtle is the first evolution of Blastoise and carries the 2nd most value of any of the big three pre-evolutions. Although grading has slowed down drastically, prices have dipped in the Pokemon market. That said, Squirtle is one of the essential characters of the show and is a must have for any collector. Be sure to assemble your Squirtle-Squad by acquiring his English Rookie card.

Pokmon World Championships Promo No 2 Trainer
One of the rarest Pokémon cards of all time, with only 3 known to exist

Like its equally rare and expensive Trainer trophy cards, the 2006 No. 2 Trainer is one of the rarest Pokémon cards of all time, with only a small handful of cards ever made.
Given as a trophy card to finalists of the Pokémon World Championships held in Anaheim, California during August 2006, in order to claim the card, players had to gain entry to the tournament by collecting enough points to qualify and then make it into the finals of their divisions.
Just three copies of the 2006 No. 2 Trainer are believed to exist, easily making it one of the rarest Pokémon cards in existence. Its rarity also means it commands a high price, with a copy graded at Mint 9 condition by PSA selling for just over $110,000 in February 2021.
The card itself features fan-favourite Pokémon Pikachu holding aloft a silver trophy, finished with a holographic pattern. The card reads: If you won this card at the 2006 Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championships, you may return to battle the best in 2007.
No. 2 Trainers rarity and value put it close to the legendarily expensive No. 1 Trainer in terms of rare Pokémon cards – making it one of Pokémons most sought-after cards.
Pokemon Neo Destiny 1st Edition Shining Charizard

The fourth main expansion of the Neo Series, Neo Destiny, is notable for featuring both “light” and “dark” Pokémon whose characteristics and “destiny” are reflective of how a Trainer trains them.
Light Pokémon are caring and bright-spirited, while dark Pokémon are the exact opposite.
Dark Pokémon have appeared in several different series, but the Neo Destiny set is the only one in which you will find the light Pokémon.
Charizard appears as neither light nor dark in Neo Destiny but instead as a special Shining Charizard that gets its name from the unique foil design that glimmers and shines in the light.
The Shining Pokémon in this series also feature a unique rarity symbol in the lower right in the form of three stars.

Pokemon Base Set Shadowless 1st Edition Holo Charizard

Almost half a million dollars! Imagine finding that in your loft. Featuring iconic art from Mitsuhiro Arita, this is the most widely coveted Pokemon card ever made. But just having the card isnt enough. Over 3,000 of these have been passed along to graders, but only 121 of them have been granted PSA 10 Gem Mint designation.
Is Your Pokmon Card A Misprint
It may sound counterintuitive that an error would make something more valuable, but then, it also makes something more unique and therefore rarer.
Keep in mind mention that a misprinting of a card, doesnt automatically make your card worth more money. As mentioned before, a misprint of a card will generally result in a lower score from a professional card grading service.
However, there is a market for misprints, and certain well-known misprints, in particular, can drive up the price of a Pokémon card and sell for a decent amount of money.
One such printing error is the much desired first edition base set Red-cheeked Pikachu, which is currently worth more than $10,000 USD provided that it is in Gem Mint condition.
Even lower graded version of this card can be seen to be sold for several hundreds of dollars.

World Championships Sprint Battle Road 2002 No 1 Trainer Promo: $31000
No. 1 Trainer promo cards are almost always valuable, thanks to them only being printed in limited quantities and being awarded to finalists in World Championships. What makes the Battle Road Spring 2002 promo special, though, is that every card is unique.
Each one has the name of its owner, and the region they were the champion of, printed in the card’s text. As there were seven regions for the tournament, it can be assumed that there were at least seven produced.
It’s so rare that PSA doesn’t have an appraised value for it, however it has sold at auction in the past for $31,000.
Blaine’s Charizard From The Gym Challenge Tcg Expansion
When the Pokémon TCG first launched worldwide in 1999, the Base Set‘s most popular card was the original Charizard. For many kids of the 90s, the Kanto Starter was the first “must-have” collectible in the Nintendo tabletop game. Decades later, Charizard has continued to reign supreme as the most valuable Pokémon in the TCG, including the Charizard cards in the TCG Brilliant Stars expansion. The Kanto Dragon is so popular, that Charizard cards even from modern sets go for thousands of dollars within weeks of release. So it would be pretty incredible if players can get their hands on a retro Charizard card right now for as low as $100.
This is the case with Blaine’s Charizard from the Gym Challenge TCG expansion which was released in 2000. Not even the epic side shot artwork of Charizard breathing fire has made this card go up to the value many fans would have expected it to be at. In 2022, a 1st edition version of the card in pristine condition has sold in the $600 range. Although most valuable Charizard Pokémon cards sell for a lot of money, the Gym Challenge collectible has continued to fail to take off in price. The card’s lackluster value is even more confusing, considering many Pokémon Trading Card Game fans consider Blaine’s Charizard to have better artwork than the iconic Base Set version.

Pokemon French First Edition Dracaufeu
Sold in February, 2021 for $37,300
The First Edition Dracaufeu, or the French name for Charizard, is also relatively easier to find in PSA 10 condition than the English version.
Though only 28 examples have achieved that grade, PSA has only graded 382 overall, meaning that roughly 7% of them are PSA 10s.
Evolving Skies: Umbreon Vmax
Umbreon is the most popular of all of the Eeveelutions, so it’s no surprise to see it take the top spot as the most valuable card released in 2021. This art by Keiichiro Ito is stunning, with a VMAX’d Umbreon reaching for the moon on a beautiful, sea-green night. Eeveelutions have completely barreled through this year thanks to being a prominent part of Evolving Skies, so it’s fitting to see one rise to the top of this list.
