How To Trade In Pokemon Go

Pokemon Theory: Why do traded Pokemon Evolve?

There are a few requirements youll need to meet before you can trade in Pokemon Go. Most importantly, you have to be Friends with the person you want to trade with by sharing your Trainer codes.

Both of you will need to be at least Level 10 in Pokemon Go, and youll have to be within close physical proximity of each other. You cannot currently trade with Friends remotely.

Trading Pokemon also costs a variable amount of Stardust, with rarer catches being more expensive. You can reduce this Stardust cost by increasing your Friendship Level. Mythical Pokemon cannot be traded.

Once youve met all of these requirements, go to your Friends feed and select the Friend you wish to trade with. Select the Trade option, wait for your Friend to do the same, then select a Pokemon to trade.

Its important to remember that Pokemon can only be traded once, and a Pokemons CP and HP will change when traded, so think carefully before you make a decision. You cant go back once its done!

So, there you have it. Everything you need to know about all the Pokemon that evolve by trading in Pokemon Go!

Why Pokmon Evolve Through Trading

Pokémon fans might be shocked to find out that trading was implemented into the game by Mr. Tajiri in the first place because of this simple reason.

Trading has always been a staple in the Pokémon franchise and some Pokémon only evolve after they are exchanged. Two versions of each generation, sometimes three, are released with exclusive Pokémon in each game. Beyond collecting all the monsters, trade evolution adds another incentive for players to exchange team members between versions. The majority of NPCs in the game do not question this phenomenon that occurs because it is natural in their world. Solving the mysteries as to why some Pokémon evolve through trading is a puzzle even the greatest Pokémon Professors in the game have yet to understand.

Trade evolution is necessary to acquire a handful of strong Pokémon. The powerful and fast Psychic-type Alakazam can only be obtained after trading a Kadabra. This Gen I Pokémon is one of the most iconic trade evolution monsters, being sought after in BDSP and in other games in the franchise. Other fan-favorite Pokémon from the first generation that require this process include Machamp, Golem, and Gengar. New monsters that need to be traded to evolve have been added in later Pokémon games. The phenomenon of how this process works not only stumps fans, but the mysteries surrounding trade evolution permeate even the world of Pokémon itself.

While Horsea and Seadra will start appearing after the Sinnoh Dex is completed, Dratini and Dragonair will only appear once the National Dex has been completed.

The majority of Pokémon are able to evolve once they reach a specific predetermined level. However, in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players must initiate the evolution sequence themselves because Pokémon will not evolve on their own. There are also Pokémon that require special conditions or items in order for them to move on to their next phase. Another surprise is that Pokémon that previously needed to be traded to evolve now just need to be given a special item. There’s plenty to discuss, so let’s dive in.

Pokmon Fans Create Theories On How Trade Evolution Works In

A heartbreaking theory that some users on the PokémonReddit had was that the monsters evolve when being traded as a way to entice players to reverse the trade. Professor Oak appears in many Pokémon games, always traveling for his research on the relationships between humans and Pokémon. If the creatures evolved in this manner, most likely he would have discovered this nature in Pokémon. A theory that might possibly hold some truth was posted by a user that, unfortunately, deleted his account. They talked about how there is only so much one trainer can teach a Pokémon “so by being traded away into the hands of another trainer, they learn a lot more, triggering their evolution.” Players in the games learn that Pokémon become stronger when they are taught by a trainer. Increasing the bond between Pokémon and the trainer also raises their friendship level, which is a requirement for different evolutions, like for Pokémon Evee. Fans might be shocked to find out the real reason trading was implemented into Pokémon.

Trading A Dusclops Holding A Reaper Cloth Will See It Become A Dusknoir

The introduction of Duskull and Dusclops to the Ghost-type roster in Generation III was much needed and refreshing, offering a formidable alternative to Gengar. It was often preferred over the other options of Sableye and Banette. However, one generation later Diamond & Pearl introduced a third evolition stage with the intimidating Dusknoir.

Like its previous evolutions, Dusknoir has exceptional base stats for Defense and Special Defense, but it also has considerable physical offensive power. Dusknoir can be obtained by trading a Dusclops that is holding a Reaper Cloth and is easily one of the best Ghost-type alternatives to Gengar.

Trainers would eventually be able to use trading to evolve certain species of Pokemon in Pokemon GO following the feature’s implementation in 2020. However, this method had a twist.

Where To Get Trade Evolution Items

It’s not enough to know the name of a trade evolution item, of course. You’ll need to know where to find them.

In a nice bit of neatness, every trade evolution item is obtained via a Jubilife Town NPC named Simona. She’s not hard to miss, plying her wares as she does near the edge of town. But Simona only accepts one kind of currency, and it’s not something you’ll receive from your job with the Survey Corps.

How To Evolve Pokemon By Trading

In mainline Pokemon games, a handful of monsters can only be evolved by trading them to another player, but in Pokemon Go, these creatures could be evolved the same way as most other Pokemon: by feeding them a set amount of Candy. Now, however, there’s an alternate method of evolving them: if you receive an eligible Pokemon through a trade, its Candy requirement will be completely removed, essentially allowing you to evolve it for free.

  • Karrablast -> Escavalier
  • Shelmet -> Accelgor

In the main series, a handful of other Pokemon–such as Scyther and Onix–also evolve by trading if they’re holding certain items, but their evolution method in Pokemon Go has not been changed, so you cannot trade for a Scyther and then evolve it into Scizor without spending any Candy only the Pokemon listed above will have their Candy requirement removed if obtained through a trade.

Boldore, Gurdurr, Karrablast, and Shelmet are among the newest Gen 5 Pokemon to arrive in the game. However, a handful of other Gen 5 Pokemon can only evolve using a new item called the Unova Stone. You can read more about how to obtain one of those and which Pokemon it works on in our Unova Stone guide.

Over the years, Game Freak added several new Pokémon who require a trade to evolve and many of them appear in the franchises newest title.

Trainers can trade their Pokémon through Sword and Shields new online system, the Y-Comm. There are two different options for players to use: Surprise or Link Trade. Link Trade allows players to match up with a random person to trade multiple Pokémon at once. Those who are looking to trade with their friends will be required to enter a code to match up with a specific person.

Trade Evolution And More Pokmon Originally Discovered In Unova Are Here

Trainers,

Trade Evolution has long been an iconic mechanic in the main Pokémon series. We are excited to adapt this feature to Pokémon GO!

Trading certain Pokémon will result in no Candy cost to evolve them. More Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region are also coming to Pokémon GOand some of them will benefit from the addition of trade Evolution, too.

Trade Evolution

  • How it works: Trade an eligible Pokémon to lower the Candy cost to evolve them.
  • Which Pokémon can gain Evolution benefits from trading? Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler, and Haunter are some Pokémon that can now benefit from trade Evolution. If you received one of these Pokémon in a trade in the pastcongratulations! That Pokémon will retroactively qualify for no Candy cost when you evolve it.
  • Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region that benefit from trade Evolution: Boldore, Gurdurr, Karrablast, and Shelmet are now appearing in Pokémon GO and will be eligible for trade Evolution benefits. And remember, Trainers: Boldores and Gurdurrs Evolutions, Gigalith and Conkeldurr, might be powerful Pokémon to have in your battle parties!

Even more Pokémon coming to the world of Pokémon GO!

In addition to Boldore, Gurdurr, Karrablast, and Shelmet, we have an exciting cast of more Pokémon that will be appearing in the wild, in raids, and in Eggs soon.

  • Pokémon appearing in raids: Timburr will also be available in one-star raids.

  • All Pokemon That Can Evolve By Trading

There are 10 species that can evolve using trading in Pokemon GO. These are:

    • Kadabra
    • Phantump
    • Pumpkaboo

It should be noted that trading in Pokemon GO is purely optional. As trading didn’t exist in the first iteration of the game that was published at launch, trainers had to use candies, instead. Today, Niantic has kept the candy option while also adjusting the species mentioned above to be more in-line with their main series evolution methods.

Additionally, trading is freeâminus the Stardust cost.

If trainers don’t want to trade their Pokemon or don’t have the Stardust to train with their friends, they can simply use the candy amount listed on the “Evolve” button. These amounts range from 100 to 200 candies.

For example, the Pokemon that require 100 candies are:

    • Kadabra

Scizor Is A Considerable Upgrade On Scyther

Despite its dual Bug and Flying typing not being especially desirable, Scyther was often revered and favored by fans in the original games due to its cool design. Things only got better when Scizor was introduced in Gen II.

Scizor’s Steel and Bug combination is particularly impressive, with it having a whole host of resistances and a weakness only to Fire types. A trainer can get their hands on a Scizor by receiving a Scyther holding a Metal Coat by trade, the same process used to evolve Onix into Steelix.

Why Pokmon Needs To Get Rid Of Trade Evolutions

Pokémon’s trade evolutions have been a part of the series since its creation, but it’s time for the company to phase them out and use other methods.

In the Pokémon games, there are few feelings more satisfying than seeing a beloved partner evolve into a new form, but some only do so using a method that may be better off changed. Trading is a feature that’s been in just about every mainline game since the series first started, and some Pokémon can only evolve by being traded. Although it was a fun novelty in the past, it’s become more of a drawback than not, so it may be a good move for the company to change it to allow these species to evolve through other methods.

In the world of Pokémon, many different species evolve in many different ways. Some evolve by growing stronger, others by being in a certain location, and more still by holding items. However, there are some Pokémon that can only evolve if they are traded to another player. There are many powerful mechanics in Pokémon, and new ones are being added as the generations go on, but this one may be better off removed. The list of trade evolutions includes some of the strongest and most well-liked species in the series, such as Electivire and Gengar. Since this method of evolution is more difficult to achieve, it’s only natural for the resulting Pokémon to be stronger and more desirable, however, in today’s world, it’s becoming more and more like a relic of the past.
