After all, memorising all 898 Pokémons weaknesses and resistances is nigh-impossible, so its always worth checking back to be sure your team is in good shape.

Whether you are piloting one of the best Pokémon in Pokémon GO or in a Pokémon Sword and Shield ranked match, knowing the type chart is one of the biggest factors in winning or losing.

Ludicolo Best Grass Pokemon In Sword And Shield

Ludicolo isnt necessarily the most powerful Grass Pokemon in the game but its certainly one of the most annoying. Just look at him, he was built to troll you.

Ludicolo is a great stall Pokemon under the effects of Rain. It can use Rain Dish, Leftovers, Leech Seed, Protect, and Giga Drain to simply outlast an opposing Pokemon that is under some kind of status affliction like Poison.

It can be very hard to break Ludicolo once its set up, and if you want to bore your opponent into fainting, Ludicolo is worth a look.

Assail Adversaries With Multiple Conditions

Certain status conditions afflict Pokemon in different ways. Being Paralyzed will force the card to be turned clockwise on the field, Asleep will turn it counter-clockwise, and Confused will set it upside down. These three cannot usually be active at the same time but Pokemon suffering from one of these can also be Poisoned, much like in Butterfree V’s attack.

There are other butterfly-like Pokemon that have attacks like this as well. Vivillon from the Forbidden Light Expansion has Vivid Powder, an attack that makes the foe Poisoned and Asleep simultaneously while also doing 50 damage. Having a deck full of butterflies sounds cute but could be a deadly strategy.

Top 3 Strongest Grass Pokemon In Sword And Shield

Grass-type Pokemon are incredibly underrated when it comes to overall power, especially in Sword and Shield.

Oftentimes, trainers will select the Fire or Water-type starter on their journey to become a Pokemon Master. Over and over again, others have shown just how incredible the Grass-type starter can be.

In Sword and Shield, there are a wide variety of Grass-type Pokemon for trainers to choose from. From new creatures to older fan favorites, the abundance of grass-types includes some of the strongest Pokemon in the Pokedex.

Exeggutor Base Stats Total: 530

Best Team Grass Type Edition

HP: 95Special Defense: 75Speed: 55

Another first-generation staple is once again worthwhile as Kantos Exeggutor brings the unique grass-type and psychic-type combo to the battlefield. After unlocking the National Dex, youll have to head to the Great Marsh in Pastoria City in hopes of Exeggcute being one of those Daily Pokémon thats the only way to get it in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Once youve caught an Exeggcute, use a Leaf Stone to evolve into Exeggutor and prepare to go to battle with a Base Special Attack that is only matched by Roserade in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. However, be aware that Exeggutors type-combo leaves it extremely vulnerable to bug-type Pokémon along with all the usual weaknesses of grass-type and psychic-type Pokémon.

Keep in mind that Exeggcutor doesnt learn anything by leveling up, and youll have to mostly use TMs, the existing Exeggcute moveset at evolution, or the Move Reminder to fill out their moveset. However, you can build a strong set with staples of Psychic and Giga Drain before adding status or strategic moves.

Pokemon Go Type Chart: Strengths Effectiveness Weaknesses And Resistances Explained

In Pokemon Go, Every type of Pokemon has four different relationships with other types any trainer should be aware of. That is:

  • Strong Against: represented on our type chart as Strong Vs, attacks from the listed type against the type listed here will deal additional damage to your opponent. This is Super Effective.
  • Weak Against: represented here as Weak Vs, attacks from the listed type against these types will do less damage to the enemy. This is Not very effective
  • Resistance: listed as resist, taking attacks from this type will do much less damage to you.
  • Vulnerable: your types weaknesses. Attacks of these types will deal more damage watch out!

So, for instance, Offensively a Ground-type Pokemon/move is Strong against Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire and Electric types, dealing double damage to them. It only does 50% damage against Flying, Bug and Grass Pokemon. Defensively, that same Ground-type Pokemon will take reduced damage from Poison, Rock and Electric Pokemon but also take double damage from Water, Grass and Ice which is vulnerable to.

With that explained, lets get into the Pokemon Go type chart in full.

Type

Pokemon Type Weaknesses And Strengths Chart Explained

Despite the table above, there is actually much more to type effectiveness than meets the eye. For example:

  • Super effective moves will deal double the damage, whereas weak moves will deal half. There are also a few moves that will deal no damage at all, such as normal-type attacks against ghost-types.
  • Dual-types also play an important role. Dual-type Pokemon, as the name suggests, have two types. If the move you are using is effective against both the opposing Pokemons typing, it will deal 4x the damage. Conversely, if the move is weak against both, then it will be just 1/4 of the overall damage.

The best example of a super-effective type attack is using a water attack against a rock and/or ground type. In this instance, Geodude would be 4x more susceptible against any water Pokemon attacks directed at it.

The opposite of this would occur when a Fairy-type move is used a mon like Heatran, which is a dual steel/fire-type. This would result in just 1/4 of the damage.

Learning all of these strengths and weaknesses will undoubtedly take time, but utilizing our guide here when in doubt will help you on your way to becoming Galars number one trainer in the region!

Pokemon Sword and Shield: Which Is The Best Starter Pokemon?

HP: 70Special Defense: 85Speed: 120

Hoenns starters remain some of the best battlers through the generations, and that rings true for Sceptile even without the Mega Evolution it received in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Youll need to head to the Grand Underground after completing the National Dex starter Treecko can be found in Riverbank Cave, Grassland Cave, Still-Water Cavern, or Sunlit Cavern.

Once youve fully evolved that Treecko into a Sceptile, youll be working with the speediest option on our list and wielding solid Special Attack in the process. While you wont have the same-type attack bonus that comes with being a dragon-type as Mega Sceptile, its still worthwhile teaching yours Dragon Pulse via TM 59.

From there, lean on its Speed by utilizing moves like Double Team and Protect to keep your opponent from striking you. Youll have a wide variety of attacking moves to choose through its learnset or TMs, but be careful not to lean on a physical move as Sceptile has superior Special Attack.

Pokmon Strength And Weakness Chart

The chart below will let you know which attacks to use and which to avoid based on Pokémon type.

For instance, a bug-type Pokémons bug attacks are super effective against grass-, dark-, and psychic-type Pokémon. However, bug-types take increased damage from any fire-, flying-, or rock-type moves.

Keep this chart handy whenever youre facing off against any trainers and especially during your Gym Challenges, as each of those trainers specializes in specific Pokémon.

As an example, the first major trainer you fight in Pokémon Sword and Shield is Milo, who specializes in grass-type Pokémon. Looking at the chart below, youll want to make sure that you have some Pokémon that can do bug-, fire-, flying-, ice-, or poison-type attacks in your roster. You may also want to take any ground-, rock-, or water-types out of that match sorry Sobble starters!

Knowing type match ups will be helpful in just about any battle, especially when youre trying to catch Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon.

What Is Weak To What

If youre here, you probably dont know the type weaknesses and resistances. Also, maybe you dont know that when a pokmon uses an attack of its type, like if an elecrtic pokmon uses an electric attack, the damage is multiplied by 1.5. Well, here are the types:

Normal is a plain type. Some people say its useless, but others say its great. Id say Normal type pokmon are good, many of them have good status and they have only one weakness, Fighting, and are competely immune to Ghost, although they resist no other type. Normal type attacks, however, are not as good. No type is weak to them, but Ghost is immune to Normal and Rock and Steel resist it. But Normal attacks can be the solution to your problems anyway, as most pokmon can learn Normal attacks and many of them are strong. The Normal type is a physical type, so all Normal attacks are counted as physical attacks.

Fire is a hot type. Fire is a powerful type that should be on every team. Scizor and Forretress, both very common in teams, are only weak to Fire. Fire is super effective on Bug, Steel, Grass and Ice and is not very effective on Fire, Water, Rock and Dragon. No type is immune to Fire. Water, Rock and Ground are super effective on Fire pokmon and Fire, Grass, Bug, Ice and Steel are not very effective on them. The Fire type is a special type, so all Fire attacks are counted as special attacks.

  • Bug attacks are super effective against Grass and Psychic-type Pokémon and will deal double damage.
  • Bug attacks will do half damage to Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ghost, Steel, Fire, Dark-type Pokémon.
  • Bug Pokémon are weak to Flying, Rock, Fire, and thus will take double damage from these types of attacks.
  • Bug Pokémon are not immune to any damage.
Type

D E F E N S E If a Pokemon type is listed as Immune against, it will take no damage from attacks of that type. If a Pokemon type is listed as Strong Defense Against, the Pokemon will only take half damage from attacks of that type. • The strength of an attack is increased if the attack type is strong against both types of a dual type Pokémon

Bug, Dark, , Fighting

Poison, Steel

Note that attack and defence type relationships are not identical e.g. types may be resistant to types when defending that they are not super effective against when attacking.

Remember, things get even more interesting when Pokémon of dual types crop up and you have to factor in additional strengths and weaknesses.
