Best Moves And Attacks For Sky Tower And Rayquaza
Rayquaza – and quite a lot of the Pokemon in the Sky Tower – have a weakness to Ice-type attacks. If you can teach one or both of your team some frigid moves, you’ll have a huge advantage in the coming trials. Failing that, Rock and Electric moves will be a big help going forward, and tend to be easier to learn or find than Ice TMs.
Rayquaza Weaknesses And Tips
- Rayquaza has roughly 1600 health, similar to Groudon. However, it’s capable of doing a lot more damage in a much wider area, not to mention have a lot less easily-exploited weaknesses.
- Rayquaza is a Dragon/Flying dual-type, weak to Dragon, Rock, Fairy and especially Ice attacks, from which he takes 4x damage.
- However, Rayquaza is immune to Ground attacks, and resistant to Fighting, Bug, Fire Water and Grass.
- Rayquaza’s ability, Air Lock, prevents any weather effects with the exception of the Gust Gale. Everything few turns a text box will declare: “There’s a Whirlwind!” Numerous tiles will be highlighted green, and one turn later, any character one on of those tiles will be warped to a random place in the arena.
- Rayquaza knows four moves: Hyper Beam, Twister, Extremespeed and Hyper Voice. Of these, the big two threats are Hyper Beam, which can hit all enemies in a line for massive damage, and Twister, which hits everybody in the room and can make them flinch.
- Rayquaza’s boss status means that effects like confusion and sleep don’t last more than two turns.

Items To Beat Rayquaza
But wait, there’s more! That set-up was to get you through the Sky Tower dungeon, not to beat Rayquaza. There’s a checkpoint near the top of the dungeon that’ll allow you to access your storage close to the boss fight. Put these items in storage so you can take them out at the checkpoint to help topple the big ol’ sky snake.
- Six more Reviver Seeds
- Eight uses of Slumber or Confuse Wand
- Empowerment Seeds – if you own any

How To Get To Sky Tower
The opportunity to go to Sky Tower unlocks in a cinematic that triggers immediately after returning from Magma Cavern and Groudon. The real threat is made clear after a message from Xatu – a big meteorite – and you’re told to venture to the Sky Tower to ask the legendary Rayquaza to destroy the falling star. You’ll have an opportunity to use all the amenities of Pokemon Square, and when you’re ready, speak to your partner in the middle. This’ll trigger another cutscene where Xatu and Alakazam create a Teleport Gem to send you to Sky Tower. This isn’t a single-use object it’ll allow you to go to Sky Tower as much as you like, adding it to the Dungeon List along with all the other game locations.

How to Defeat Rayquaza
Rayquaza comes with a variety of attacks, where a couple of them will deal massive amounts of damage to every Pokémon in your team. The four moves Rayquaza has are the Extremespeed, Hyper Voice, Twister, and Hyper Beam. The last two are the most dangerous moves that will deal a lot of damage to your team.
Rayquaza relies on its Twister move which is a powerful attack that this all the Pokémon in the area. This move can easily drain the health of your Pokémon and eliminate them. This is where you are best to use the Reviver Seeds.
In addition, Rayquaza is immune to ground-based attacks, Fire, Water, Grass and Bug type attacks. However, it also has some weaknesses which are Ice, Dragon, and Rock. The best way to deal damage to Rayquaza is to use the Status effects on it and then proceeding with the attacks. You can Stun it or put it to sleep and then begin your onslaught.
Before the battle begins, make sure you have enough Reviver Seeds and Revive All Orbs. This is to ensure that Rayquaza doesnt eliminate your Pokémon and that you remain in the fight as long as you can. Rayquaza can easily take out your Pokémon. If you lose the battle, you are dropped far down in the Sky Tower having to go through it all over again.

Keep It Subdued With Status Effects
While the tanks keep Rayquaza distracted another group should be dedicated to keeping the boss incapacitated as much as possible with Status Effects. These subduers should be spamming moves that cause Confusion, Sleep, and Paralysis to keep Rayquaza out of the fight as much as possible.
Granted being a boss itll recover from status effects in a turn or two, but that can be enough breathing room to quickly recover, chip away at its health, or reposition. Pokémon like the starter Venusaur, Butterfree, and especially Altaria are very helpful for this.

How To Beat Sky Tower
There’s no easy way to handle Sky Tower, but we advise caution and flexibility. Avoid fights whenever you can, using the mini-map to weave around opponents, and if it is going to go to a fight, use ranged attacks as much as possible to do early damage first. Otherwise, these are the things to remember:
- You’ll want to be level 36 at the very lowest to attempt this dungeon, and even then it won’t be easy. Grind up a few levels until you’re 40 and up for the best shot.
- Don’t ever bother hunting for items or exploring for the sake of it: find the stairs on each floor and use them instantly. Even if you survive the battles, you’ll lose valuable PP and gear that you’ll need higher up.
- You won’t be able to recruit enemies your first time up Sky Tower, so don’t bother bringing abilities and items to boost your chances.
- Weather can change instantly and randomly in Sky Tower, from hail to sandstorms to rain and sun. Use attacks that’ll be boosted by it for a small advantage, and be remember that not only do you take damage from hail and sandstorms, your health won’t regenerate.
- If you trigger a Monster House, activate your Slumber or Hold-Foe orb and leave immediately by the route you came in! You probably won’t have long to escape, and even if all the Pokemon are immobilized, there’s a chance you’ll trigger a trap going across the room.

Tips To Defeat Rayquaza
Rayquaza Will Mega Evolve
Deal enough damage to Rayquaza and it will Mega Evolve. It will become stronger and will activate its Strong Wind ability that negates Flying-type weaknesses.
Use All Dodge Orb at the Start
At the start of the battle, immediately use an All Dodge Orb to boost the evasion of your team. This will help you against Rayquazas high-damage multi-target moves.
Use Bounce or Surround Wand
A strong current can sweep through the floor, moving your Pokemon from their position. Make use of Bounce or Surround Wand to help you reposition close to Rayquaza again.
Stun / Petrify Rayquaza
When youre blown away, you can take this time to use items that can stun or petrify Rayquaza. This will stop it from spamming its long-distance attacks.
Do Not Stay on One Side
Having your team on just one side will put you in danger of Rayquazas Hyper Beam and Dragon Ascent. Its best to spread out the team to ensure that not much will be hit by the beam when its used.
Make Use of Link Moves
Increase your DPS by using Link Moves. The best combinations are often Buff + Attack moves. Dont forget to set them at the Gulpin Link Shop before going in the dungeon.

There’s no specific items that’ll make Sky Tower easy, but there are those that’ll save you a lot of bother. When leaving, you should have these items in your toolbox at least, and ideally a few extras:
- Eight Reviver Seeds

- Six Max Ethers
- Four Oran Berries
- Two of any Orb that can get you out of a tight spot
- One of every status-curing berry

Sky Tower Summit Pokemon List And Tips
Sky Tower Summit is no joke like other second halves. After already doing a whopping 25 floors, you have eight more to go before you actually do the final main story boss fight. You will have no break going from one to the other so make sure inventory is jam-packed full of items.
If you had a lot of trouble with the first 25 floors, it is recommended that you turn back now and level up some more like in the Makuhita Dojo.
Otherwise, here are the Pokemon you will face in these eight levels.

What Level Should You Be At For Sky Tower
level 35Sky Tower is a difficult final dungeon with two main parts to it. It is recommended you are, at the very least, level 35 before heading here. The first half of Sky Tower consists of 25 intense floors, more than everything in Magma Cavern alone.
