How To Beat Mewtwo Pokemon Let’s Go

Gaining Access To The Cerulean Cave

How To EASILY Beat Mewtwo In Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee

After beating the Elite Four, go to Cerulean City. You may have walked by Cerulean Cave at some point because you can see it as you enter the city, but you could not access it before.

One way to get to it is to go north over the bridge. After the bridge, use sea skim to enter the water directly to your left. Go down, and then left, and you’ll be at the cave’s entrance.

You can also fly over the water and directly go to the cave which is likely more convenient.

Where Does Mewtwo Go If You Lose

You see, Cerulean Cave opens up after you defeat the Elite Four and become the Pokemon League Champion. Although the cave remains open from this point on, Mewtwo will disappear if he defeats you until you beat the Elite Four again. The reasons for this are unclear, but the same thing works for the Legendary Birds, too.

Mewtwo With A Robotic Suit Of Armor

Trainers, Armored Mewtwo will be taking over Raids for a limited time this month and now its the perfect time to learn which Pokemon we should use against the Psychic Type Legendary Pokemon, what are the best moves and more.

Armored Mewtwo will be taking over Raids at the end of the month, starting from February 25 until March 2, as part of the Pokemon Go Day event.

Giovanni found Mewtwo and convinced it to help with Team Rockets goal of controlling the world. Mewtwos power was focused as well as restrained by a robotic suit of armor as it performed tasks, such as battling for Giovanni in the Viridian Gym and helping Team Rocket capture Pokémon. At one point, Giovanni, after temporarily abdicating the Viridian Gym to Jessie James and Meowth, utilized Mewtwo for what was presumably a very serious matter. Mewtwo eventually became tired of being used by Giovanni. It developed a strong hatred for humans and felt that they were weak and selfish beings who were only interested in power and wealth it also despised the Pokémon who served humans. Mewtwo escaped from Giovanni, destroying Team Rocket headquarters in the process , and relocated to its birthplace on New Island and built a castle there.

How To Find Mewtwo In Max Raid Battles

Even though its technically the main event going on right now, Mewtwo and the starters didnt replace the usual rotation of special Pokémon that players can find when looking for Max Raids. Overall, the Psychic-type has a 10-percent spawn chance, while competing for five-star space with Gigantimax Orbeetle, Kingler, Hatterene, Grimmsnarl, and Toxtricity.

It isnt impossible to find, so just keep your eyes on the Max Raid invites page of your game while looking through the Wild Area.

A key thing you need to know is that youre unable to actually capture any Mewtwo if you do manage to defeat them. This is intentionally coded into the game for some reason, but Game Freak has not given a reason for it yetthough its likely because the developers have no plans on putting Legendary Pokémon into raids outside of this for some time.

Catching Pokmon Out Of Sequence

pokemon lets go pikachu and eevee how to get mewtwo

Catching Pokémon is easier than ever before in the Lets Go games, but there is a useful trick in making some of the best and rarest pocket monsters spawn more quickly. By catching the same kind of monster repeatedly, a player will start a catching combo.

As this chain of catches grows, so does the likelihood of rare monsters appearing and monsters in the sequence having perfect, or near perfect, stats. Continuing a catching chain also makes it more likely for shiny monsters to appear. You dont have to catch Pokémon in a sequence, but ignoring this feature deprives a player of some rare and shiny monsters.

Gaining Candies Through Catch Combos

Throughout LetsGoPikachu, catching Pokemon brings with it unique rewards that can be used to help boost particular stats. These are called Candies and can be used to boost anything from attack and defense to speed.

With catch combos, this increases your chance of obtaining more and more candies with each Pokemon you catch increasing your stockpile of valuable candies that can be used to boost your battling buddies. With higher level Pokemon needing to consume a larger amount of candies in order to increase certain stats, it makes sense to take full advantage of catch combos in order to stockpile a large number of candies that can be used to either help your strongest Pokemon reach its full potential, or simply help a low level grow much faster early on.

The silhouette belongs to Victini, so we know this Psychic- and Fire-type Pokemon will play a part in this years festivities. If we had to make an educated guess, Vicitini will likely be the prize trainers can receive for completing the Special Research storyline that will be given out on Day 2 of Pokemon Go Fest.

How To Get Mewtwo

How To Get Mewtwo – Pokemon Lets Go

Enter the Cerulean Cave and you will find one of the, thankfully, easiest dungeons for finding a Legendary Pokemon. There is a linear rock path that leads to water follow it.

Once you get to the water, Sea Skim and follow it until you see land to the north of you. Ignore that first set of land and continue following the water until you go all the way west. Land there and go up the ladder to the north of you.

Once you arrive upstairs, immediately go left and there will be a ladder there. Go down that ladder. In this small area, there will only be another ladder. Use that ladder to go down again.

There will be a linear path here following east and then south. You will see a body of water to your south ignore that. Continue heading east on the path and it will then lead you south.

It will take you up a ramp to the north. Follow this until you find another ramp down to your south.

This will continue east and south until you reach another ramp that goes up and then immediately another one that takes you down to some water. Use Sea Skim to go on the water.

Follow the path briefly west and it will take you to some land. Land here and you will be face to face with the level 70 Legendary Psychic Pokemon Mewtwo.

Pokmon Let’s Go: Cerulean Cave

Cerulean Cave, unlike the other caves of Pokémon Let’s Go, only has one way in or out, so there’s no fastest route to the other side for use to cover. Instead, your objective lies inside the cave itself: a showdown with the game’s most powerful Pokémon, Mewtwo, and your chance to catch it.

It’s relatively easy to reach Mewtwo, so here we’ll detail how to do it step by step, whilst the sections below will cover the rest of Cerulean Cave and all the extremely rare items and Pokémon you can find here, which are well worth investigating!

The fastest way to find Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave

  • Enter Cerulean Cave and go due north, across the water, to the first bit area you can land on in the north-east corner.
  • Take the ladder there, 1F-A, up to 2F.
  • On 2F, go all the way left to the ladder we’ve labelled 2F-F, in the north-west corner, and take that back down to 1F.
  • Back on 1F you’ll be in a small corner area with another downwards ladder, 1F-G. Take that down to B1F.
  • On B1F, head right and then down , circling back on yourself to a body of water in the bottom left corner of the room.
  • Hop onto the water and surf north, to the western side of the room, where you’ll find Mewtwo.
  • As with the other Legendary Pokémon – and other interactable Pokémon like the sleeping Snorlax you found earlier – you’ll need to defeat Mewtwo in battle before you can catch it.

    Recommended Pokemon To Counter Mewtwo
    Gengar Giratina

Gengar and Origin Forme Giratina are our two main recommendations vs. Armored Mewtwo. Both of them have very high base attack and powerful STAB Ghost-type moves.

    Gengar Is Weak To Psychic

Gengar is a Ghost/Poison type, meaning hell take massive damage from Mewtwos Future Sight and Confusion moves.

    Recommended Dark-Type Pokemon
    Tyranitar Weavile

Dark types are also an excellent choice vs. Armored Mewtwo, as they take reduced damage from Psychic moves and deal super-effective damage against Mewtwo!

    Watch Out For Super-Effective Moves

Unfortunately, since Armored Mewtwo has more than just Psychic moves, youre still very likely to be hit with a super-effective move if you bring the above two Pokemon. We recommend bringing a pure-ghost type as your primary Pokemon for this fight.

    Pokemon Lets Go Power

    How to Unlock the Mage

In previous Pokemon games, getting everyone on your team to level 100 was a serious milestone in itself. Changes to the systems in Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee mean that power leveling to reach level 100 can be done more easily than ever if you know how.

In past Pokemon games, it typically took an age of monotonous grinding to even get one Pokemon to level 80. The final 20 levels were even worse still and as a result, I personally rarely endeavored to even bother with it.

Its a bit different in Pokemon Lets Go, though, because you can absolutely take advantage of the games new mechanics to game the system. Over the weekend, I took a Weezing the whole way from level 32 to level 100 in under an hour a lot of leveling, very fast. It was a bit mad, really, but now Weezing can really hold its own against pretty much any trainer in Kanto except for the Weezing Master Trainer, apparently, because even after maxing Weezings Special Attack and training it to be 25 levels higher, Donnie still has a better Weezing. Training Weezing to level 100 a supposedly fun thing Ill never do again. Cheers Donnie.

Anyway, despite my Weezing still being a bit rubbish at level 100, Ill let you know how you can get to level 100 quickly. Hopefully your Pokemon arent as inherently feeble as mine and can actually carry their weight against other Pokes later on in the game.

Challenge Red At The Indigo League

Once players have defeated six of the master trainers, Red will finally appear outside of the Pokemon League. He’s considerably more difficult than both Blue and Green combined due to him boasting a team of Pokemon that are all level 85.

Players should aim for a team that is at least level 75 before taking him on and stocking up on max revives, max potions and full restores is something of a must. Challenging though he may be, defeating Red is definitely possible and the sign of a true Pokemon Champion.

Pokemon Lets Go Mewtwo Gone How To Get Mewtwo Back

Reports of the Pokemon Lets Go Mewtwo gone glitch have began to surface after a recent Reddit post drew attention to the fact that Mewtwo had disappeared from Cerulean Cave after a player went back to fight him a second time. This, however, is only temporary and can easily be remedied.

If Mewtwo, Zapdos, Articuno, or Moltres beat you in battle, all you need to do is quickly beat the Elite Four and go back to where you encounter them. They will have respawned, which will give you the opportunity to fight them again. This works indefinitely, but its best to just train your team to a high enough level so that you can beat them next time, as this will save you lots of time in the long run.

So dont worry if Mewtwo is gone. He will return once you beat the Elite Four again.

How To Unlock Mew In Pokemon Sword & Shield

To unlock Mew, youll need to have the Poke Ball Plus, a Poke Ball-shaped controller that was first released alongside Pokemon: Lets Go Pikachu and Lets Go Eevee last year. The Poke Ball Plus could either be purchased individually for $50 USD or bundled together with a copy of either Lets Go game.

The accessory itself functions much like a Joy-Con and can be used to play the Lets Go titles, but the real incentive to pick one up is that it comes with Mew as an exclusive bonus. If you have not already redeemed Mew in Lets Go, you can connect the Poke Ball Plus to your copy of Sword or Shield and claim the Mythical Pokemon in those games instead.

To connect the Poke Ball Plus with Sword and Shield, go into the menu screen and select Mystery Gift. From there, select the option to connect to a Poke Ball Plus and youll be able to download Mew into your game. As previously mentioned, however, this will only work if you havent already claimed the Mythical Pokemon in a Lets Go title if you have, then youll either need to purchase another Poke Ball Plus or wait until the Pokemon Home service launches sometime next year to transfer it into Sword or Shield.

Trading For Mew On Pokmon Home

Because Mew is a Mythical Pokémon, you cant ask for one on the GTS. Your only way to get a Mew via trade is either by heading into a Trade Room or by Wonder Trade, although the odds of getting a Mew via the latter method are astronomically low.

If youve got a friend with a spare Mew, head into a Trade Room to perform a private trade and then transfer to Sword & Shield. Otherwise, stick with the previous two methods of Mew acquisition.
