Poppy is the author of A Bard’s Lament and the Black Diamond series. She lives in Enoshima with her husband and young son.

The Pokémon: Lets Go Pikachu! and Pokémon: Lets Go Eevee! games have provided a great deal of fun and nostalgia for Pokémon fans across the globe. Being able to collect, catch, train, and compete with others is easier than ever in glorious high-definition on Nintendo’s latest console, the Switch.

Of course, Pokémon come in a variety of rarities. While some are so common you may encounter thousands of them in your playthrough, others need a great deal of time and effort to track down. In addition, some Pokémon can only be found in one place, and there is only one of them in the whole game. The three legendary birds of the original 151 Pokémon are Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, mighty beings of ice, lightning, and fire, respectively.

Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres

Bring Water Ice Or Electric Pokemon

Moltres is weak to the elements of Water, Ice, & Thunder. Using Pokemon with these Types and moves will help bring Moltres down quickly.

Recommended Pokemon

Description
Zapdos Fight one legendary bird with another! Moltres is weak against Electric Type moves & Zapdos can easily deliver thunder attacks, which may cause paralysis, too!
Lapras Lapras is both a Water & Ice Type. Having this Pokemon in your party is very useful as it deals both Water & Ice Type attacks.
Gyarados Gyarados has both Water & Ice Type moves that can do big damage to Moltres. Having one in your party will be very effective against the legendary Moltres.
Blastoise Blastoise is a powerful Water Type and its base form, Squirtle, is easy to find and capture. Moltres is weak against Water Type moves – something Blastoise has a lot of.

Take On The Master Trainers

Once you’ve enteredthe Hall of Fame, you will start to notice new Trainers throughout the Kantoregion. These are Master Trainers, dedicated Trainers that have devoted theirlives to training a particular species of Pokémon. Master Trainers can be foundanywhere, so you’ll want to retrace your steps through every route, tunnel, andbuilding to find them all.

Most MasterTrainers will challenge you to a one-on-one battle. The rest want you toimpress them with your training skills by showing them their favorite Pokémonwith an exceptionally high CP. You’ll want to raise these Pokémon to Lv. 100and feed them ample Candy to get their stats high enough to win these MasterTrainers’ favor.

If you do go up againstMaster Trainers, the fight can be very difficult. The catch is that you canonly use their Pokémon of choice during the battle, and no items! Most of theirPokémon will be between Lv. 65 and Lv. 80, so make sure your Pokémon are atleast comparable. If you need to build up your team, head to Cerulean Cave andbuild up a large Catch Combo by catching multiple Chansey. It provides a ton ofExp. Points when caught, so it’s a great way to level up your Pokémon. Be sureto boost your Pokémon’s stats by feeding them Candy, as wellyour opponentshave done the same.

How To Get Shiny Moltres

You can actually capture a shiny Moltres if you want, though, it will take immense time and patience. Don’t worry if the Moltres doesn’t appear shiny before you approach it as the game doesn’t determine if it’s shiny or not until you activate the initial cutscene.

So, you can simply save before approaching it and “soft reset” until you get the shiny Moltres. All you have to do for this is save before approaching, watch the initial cutscene, and see if it is shiny or not in battle. If it isn’t, all you need to do is head to the home screen on your Switch and close out of Pokemon Let’s Go.

Reopen the game, reload your save, and retry again and again until you finally get the chance to capture a shiny Moltres. Good luck!

¡CÓMO CAPTURAR A MOLTRES EN POKÉMON LET

The only Moltres in Kanto is hiding out in the cave at Victory Road. Its the area in the northwestern corner of the map, the last stop before Indigo City. In order to enter it, youll have to have the Earth Badge, which youll obtain by defeating the gym leader in Viridian City. Once you have it, head towards Indigo City and enter the cave.

What you need to do is head up to the 3rd floor, then head up and to the left. Youll find a policewoman in the corridor there. Fighting it shouldnt be too much of an issue we just spammed Blastoise attacks until it relented. Use the strongest water type pokemon you have and youll be done with it soon enough. After youve defeated Moltres, youll have to capture it using a ball.

How to Catch Articuno, Zapdos, & Moltres in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee

If your team is not up to the challenge or you run out of time before you defeat one of the birds, they will flee from battle and you will not be able to catch them.

But if you beat the Elite Four and become the new Pokemon Champion, the escaped bird will respond in its old location, giving you more chance to catch it.

As a bonus, once you defeat the Elite Four there is a slight chance of the three legendaries, albeit much weaker, spawning in the wild.

How To Catch Mewtwo In Pokemon Let’s Go

Where to find Cerulean Cave

Mewtwo is actually the only one of the legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Let’s Go that the main story sort of points you to – in that once you beat the Elite 4, you’ll be prodded in the general direction of this genetically-engineered creature as your first step on the road of Let’s Go’s post-game content. As such, you can’t reach Mewtwo’s dwellings until you’ve defeated the Pokemon League.

When you have, you’ll find the Cerulean Cave, Mewtwo’s home, near the water in the west of Cerulean City. It’s a simpler affair this time around – the Cerulean Cave is light on puzzles but heavy on encounters with high-end, often quite rare Pokemon – several floors of encounters with Pokemon as boring as Geodude and as exciting as Snorlax, Chansey, Lickitung, Poliwrath and Rhydon. On the B1F floor of the Cerulean Cave, you’ll encounter Mewtwo, just hanging out, waiting for you.

Mewtwo is a Psychic-type Pokemon, and it’s a powerful one. You can go for Bug, Ghost or Dark-type Pokemon and moves to beat it out. Your best bet might well be a ghost-type like Gengar with a Dark-type move like Sucker Punch or Dark Pulse . Another great option is to grab an Alola form Grimer or Muk, since Dark-type Pokemon are particularly effective against Psychic creatures but are rare in Kanto. Regardless, this fight is going to be a slugfest – and you should be aware of that.

When Mewtwo finally succumbs, you’ll have a chance to catch it at level 70.

Use Rock Types For Attacking

Articuno has x4 weakness against Rock Pokemon so these would be your best option for attacking.

Recommended Rock Pokemon

Description
Omastar Omastar’s Rock Slide and Rock Throw will deal major damage to Articuno while Leer can increase damage by lowering its Defense.
Kabutops Kabutops also uses both Rock Slide and Rock Throw for dealing damage but it also has Confuse Ray which can cause Articuno to hurt itself.
Aerodactyl Just like Omastar and Kabutops, Aerodactyl can also use Rock Slide and Rock Throw to deal high damage to Articuno. It can also cause Articuno to become confused by using Super Sonic.

How To Get Moltres In Pokemon Lets Go

To find Moltres, youll firstly need to make it to the cave on Victory Road. However to even think about making it to Victory Road in the first place, youll need to defeat all eight Gym Leaders in the game, including the likes of Brock, Misty, Sabrina, Blaine, and more.

Once at Victory Road, youll eventually find yourself in the cave. Youll eventually come to Officer Jenny, who you can see below, thatll heal your Pokemon up instantly.

You need to use the Strong Push technique on the stone pillar to the left of Officer Jenny. Doing this will let you access the ladder just above you that leads down to the next level of the caverns.

Simply head to the right once youve taken this ladder leading downwards, and youll be able to find Moltres. As usual with all legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee, youll have 5 minutes maximum to take down Moltres in combat. Wed recommend using Electric, or Water-type Pokemon for taking down Moltres as quickly as possible.

Once Moltres has been defeated in combat, youve got all the time in the world to capture it using a Poke Ball. Note that legendary Pokemon are always the most difficult to contain, so youll want to use the highest level ball possible, like a Great, Ultra, or Premier Ball .

Captura A Moltres En Pokmon Lets Go Pikachu / Eevee

Pikachu Images: Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu And Eevee Moltres

How To Get Another Articuno

Interestingly enough, you can actually capture another Articuno in the wild if you want, unlike the original Pokemon Yellow. In order to do this, you will need to receive all eight Gym Badges, defeat the Elite Four, and become the Kanto Champion.

Once you have done this, you will find yourself back at your home in Pallet Town. Leave your home and the game will inform you that there are three select Pokemon that you can now ride above the ground. These three Pokemon are Charizard, Aerodactyl, and Dragonite.

Simply select one of these three as the Pokemon you want to take out of its ball and you will now soar above the skies. Head to almost any route from Route 1 through Route 25 where you can find Pokemon in the sky and you have a rare chance of encountering another Articuno. It is also possible to use the normal methods of Shiny Charm, lures, and a catch combo to shiny hunt for a shiny Articuno.

Interact With All Npcs

The region of Kanto is full of people and you can interact with almost every one of them. Go to an NPC whenever you see one and speak with them to talk with them. They will give you some really handy pointers, hints and sometimes if you are lucky, even Pokémon. Some NPCs will also trade Pokémon with you in the game.

There are some special versions of Pokémon in the game such as the super-tall Exeggutor or the Alolan form of some Pokémon are only obtained through trading with such NPCs. You might even get a special Pokémon exclusive to another version of the game by speaking with a certain NPC in the game. Therefore, we recommend that you interact with all NPCs in the game.

‘pokmon Let’s Go’ Legendaries: How To Catch Mewtwo Moltres Zapdos And Articuno

Legendary Pokémon are some of the most powerful in the series, and Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee are no exception. And in the Kanto Region, there are four Legendaries that trainers will want to try and catch to bolster their team to fight NPCs and friends online.

The four Legendary Pokémon of Kanto are Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos and the mysterious Mewtwo.

In Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, catching Legendary Pokémon is different from your run-of-the-mill Pidgey, you’ll actually have to battle them. Each encounter gives trainers five minutes to take down the Legendary Pokémon before you get to the catching stage. The Legendary Pokémon will also have all their stats raised to make it even harder.

This part is similar to the rest of your capture attempts, albeit much more difficult with the catch rate lower than most other Pokémon. It’s unclear whether they can run away from you, but we suggest saving your progress before encountering them.

We also recommend talking to the Fortune Teller in Celadon City before trying to capture the Legendary Pokémon to get the Nature you desire.

Here’s where to find them and the best ways to catch them.

HOW TO CATCH ZAPDOS

Before heading into battle, we recommend bringing a Rock and Ground-type Pokémon like the Onix, the Geodude or Rhyhorn line. Zapdos’ Thunderbolt won’t affect it and Drill Peck will be not very effective against them.

Tips For Catching Legendaries In Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee – How to Get Moltres
  • It’s a good idea to save before going into a battle. If you fail to catch one of the Legendary Birds on your first attempt, you’ll need to wait until you’ve defeated the Elite Four to try again.
  • The catch rate of the Legendary Birds is quite high, so a few Ultra Balls should be plenty. A Master Ball is the easiest way to catch Mewtwo, but is not required. Keep in mind that you can obtain multiple Master Balls.
  • All legendary encounters in this game can be shiny, but you won’t be able to tell until the battle has begun. Unlike other Pokemon in these games, there is no overworld indication that a Legendary Pokemon is shiny.
