Pokmon Go: The Best Pokmon For Pvp Battles

The BEST Ultra League PVP Pokémon in Pokémon GO! (GO Battle League Guide)

PvP Battles are an entirely different monster in Pokemon Go. This guide will show players the best Pokemon to bring for PvP Battles in each league.

PvP battles can be intimidating to get into with Pokemon Go. This guide will show players the best Pokemon to bring along for these battles. Similar to fighting a Team Rocket Grunt or one of the Gym Leaders, players must use their Pokemon to battle against another player. In this 3v3 Pokemon battle, players will use their best Pokemon against another player, perfectly time their special moves, and use their shields at the best time. Since Pokemon Go is a numbers game, Pokemon with better stats and abilities will perform better in battle. This guide will show players the best Pokemon they can bring along to each of the leagues.

For PvP battles in Pokémon Go, trainers are limited to using specific Pokémon depending on the league they are battling. For example, in the Great League, the game only allows Pokémon with 1500 CP or less. Similarly, for the Ultra League, trainers will not be able to bring Pokémon that have more than 2500 CP. Since the Pokémon Go meta keeps evolving due to new attacks and Pokémon being introduced to the game, trainers want to know which team to use during PvP battles.

Curated Tier List Featuring Meta Pokemon For The Great League Pvp

The Pokemon great league is upon us and everyone wants to know, whats the best choice? Which Pokemon is the best for the great league in Pokemon GO? Rest assured, all your burning questions will be answered in the tier list below. So sit back, relax, and enjoy as we rank every potential PvP Pokemon in this great league tier list.

The Best Performances Of Pokmon In Combat Are Determined By Three Simple Things:

  • The type of Pokémon – this affects the Same Type Attack Bonus of its own attacks and its defense coverage .

  • Pokémon’s current statistics – not to be confused with basic statistics or CP . The most important statistics are the current attack, defense, and stamina of the fighting Pokémon, as determined by its current level and the IVs .

  • The Pokémon’s moves – both their offensive coverage and their actual DPS. In other words: You want the Pokémon with the highest possible total attack, defense, and stamina a Pokémon with good typing for defensive coverage and useful STAB and a Pokémon with strong moves that provide good offensive coverage against a variety of enemy types.

Heres an example video:

Tap As Fast As You Can

Strategies aside, Trainer Battles is also a race for faster fingers. The faster you tap your opponent, the more Fast Attack your Pokemon can dish out and power up their Charged Attack, which then can be used to take out your opponent.

Also, starting in February 2019, certain Charged Attacks will have a chance to trigger stat boosts for your Pokemon. So, keep an eye on that.

Pokemon Go: Best Steel

My Best Team for Ultra League Premier Cup in Pokémon GO Battle League ...

Steel is definitely more of a defensive type, but it’ll pack a punch on offense from time to time, too. This is especially true if you use the right Pokemon. Steel is great against Fairy-, Rock-, and Ice-types, which makes them great as a partner to Dragons and especially dual Dragon/Flying-types . With ten resistances and a double resistance, it’s also hard to get some good moves off against them. If you’re using Steel-types, watch out for the all-too-common Ground, Fighting, and Fire moves, though, as they hit hard and serve as Steel’s three weaknesses.

Ask any veteran player what the best Steel-type is, and they probably won’t even miss a beat before saying Metagross more specifically, Shadow Metagross. This pseudo-Legendary is immensely powerful, with DPS around 22.4 and TDO of a massive 1,106.63, Shadow Metagross measures up to the likes of Mewtwo, Rayquaza, and the other top Pokemon in the game. It’s fairly future-proof, too, with the only real threats to its metal throne being Kartana , Zacian , and its own Mega Evolution. The one real downside to Shadow Metagross is that it reaches these massive numbers with Meteor Mash, which is a Community Day move. One thing to note is that it can counter Fighting, one of its only weaknesses, with a second charge move: Psychic. Or, if you don’t have access to Meteor Mash, just go for Psychic for a decent ranking still.

Pokemon Go: Best Ground

Ground, often considered a great type in the main series, offers some excellent options in Pokemon GO. Good against five types , Ground-types will serve you pretty well. Unfortunately, the Ground-type movepool isn’t fantastic by any means, especially with Earthquake’s low viability compared to its absolute dominance in the main series. Other types will often serve better, but Ground-types do have niche use in sunny weather or against Electric-types.

Shadow Mamoswine and Shadow Swampert both dominate in damage output and DPS, but only with charge moves that aren’t Ground-type . If Shadow Mamoswine has Bulldoze, it’ll fall behind a bit from its Avalanche counterpart, but not terribly so, still holding a spot among the best Ground-types.

If you want a Ground-type with two Ground-type moves, your best bet is Landorus in either of its forms, though Therian slightly edges out Incarnate. Not far behind are Mamoswine and Swampert in their non-Shadow forms , followed by Groudon with a massive TDO of 848.72. When it receives its Primal Reversion at some point, it’ll be even better, though it’ll take on a double weakness to Water. If Niantic ever gets around to releasing Precipice Blades, Groudon’s signature move, it’ll absolutely go from one of the top Ground attackers to one of the best Pokemon in general.

Top 10 Monsters In Pokmon Go Right Now

For many “Pokémon Go” trainers, the best Pokémon is determined by their combat power. While there are other important stats, the combat power ultimately determines how effective a monster can be against another. For example, you wouldn’t put a 4000 CP Slaking up against a 150 CP Squirtle. So, what are the top 10 best Pokémon in “Pokémon Go” based on max combat power?

It should be noted that typically these Pokémon won’t have this high of a combat power upon being caught. This usually requires an evolution from the Pokémon’s base monster as well as some powering up. For example, Slaking one of the highest CP Pokémon evolves from Vigoroth. Then, after evolving, a trainer would need to use Pokémon-specific candy to increase its CP. This process can take a while, which is why Pokémon Go trainers are so invested.

    Pokemon Go: Best Fire

Fire-types are often widely beloved by fans, and the best Fire-types are nothing but abundant. You have a ton of choices when looking for a good Fire-type Pokemon, especially with how many Legendaries, Starters, and Mega Evolutions sport the type and great offensive prowess.

The current reigning is Mega Charizard Y, though its grip on the top spot is shaky, with Mega Blaziken looming just around the corner, ready to pounce and take its place. One of a handful of Pokemon to reach a TDO over 1,000 , M-Charizard Y is going to really tear through the competition. Mega Charizard X is also fantastic, while slightly lower in terms of overall damage output compared to its twin. However, X doesn’t have the double weakness to Rock like Y does, which is something to consider. It falls behind the other Mega ‘zard in overall TDO and DPS, but it’s still one of the best Pokemon on the game, and the boost it gives to other Dragon-types while it’s on the field is not something to ignore. Keep X to being a Dragon-type attacker, and let Y take up the Fire-type mantle of the family.

Shadow Moltres, which also suffers from that double Rock-weakness, surpasses Mega Charizard X in terms of DPS, but only slightly, and falls behind on TDO. Despite this, it’s one of the best Pokemon in the game, and will absolutely dominate as either a Fire-type or a Flying-type dealer’s choice.

How to Choose the BEST Pokémon for GO Battle League!

When you’re going up against Psychic-type raids, like Mewtwo, Cresselia, or the Lake Guardians, Dark-types will often fill out your roster for some of the best counters. Dark also serves as a fantastic check on Ghost-types, since Ghost’s only other weakness is itself, meaning it’ll counter… your counters… so Dark is probably best in a vacuum. Unfortunately, Ghost-types have some better moves available, so when choosing Dark or Ghost for a raid against a Psychic-type, it will really depend on the context.

Mega Houndoom is a fantastic choice. Its secondary Fire-typing gives it some utility against Steel-types, as well as one of Dark’s weaknesses, Bug . While its DPS rating is basically on par with Mega Absol’s, it’ll stick around longer, making it better for TDO. It’s fairly future-proof, too, with only Mega Tyranitar, and Hoopa Unbound posing any imminent threats to its throne. Even then, it’ll outclass M-Tyra in pure DPS.

Darkrai is a great contender amongst Dark-types, blasting in with a TDO over 400 with all Dark-type moves, compared to 302.2 for Shadow Honchkrow and 383.4 for Shadow Weavile. However, it sits behind Shadow Tyranitar and Mega Houndoom. If you’re going up against Psychic-types, Darkrai does better with Shadow Ball than Dark Pulse in both DPS and TDO, but it’s up to you.

Best Pokemon For Pokemon Go’s Battle League: Charizard

Another fan favorite and an excellent choice if players participated in the Charmander Community Day. When evolved during that time, players could get a Charizard with Blast Burn, one of the strongest fire-type moves in the game. Charizard struggles immensely when facing against rock-type Pokemon, so keep that in mind when sending it out for battle. Alternatively, players could get a Charizard with Fire Spin and Overheat instead of Blast Burn.

Value And Balance Both Attack And Defense

In Raid Battles and Gyms, Pokemon that can release attacks quickly make the best fighters, so you may want to channel all the resources to them. However, it is not the case in Trainer Battles, where you should value your Pokemons stats more evenly.

Matches are a race to knock out three Pokemon before your own get defeated, so taking less damage is just as valuable as inflicting more. If you have Pokemon like Metagross who is strong both offensively and defensively, use them!

    • A quick note: Pokemon will automatically return to their previous health after Trainer Battles. If they were not at full health, they will enter Trainer Battles at full health, and return to their previous health after. However, fainted Pokemon cannot be used.

    Pokemon Go: Best Psychic

Ah, Psychic what a fun type to look at in Pokemon GO. It once ruled the meta in Gen I before they nerfed it with the addition of the Dark-type in the Johto games, and while not as egregious, it still dominates in GO, too. This is thanks to two of the best Pokemon in the entire game, Mewtwo and Metagross, finding their homes in the Psychic-typing. Mewtwo, in particular, is comically good, as we’ll see here.

The top two Psychic attackers are Shadow Mewtwo and… regular Mewtwo. They’ll be displaced one day, though, by Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Well, at least it’s easy to remember. Looking for something other than these four, even if it has low DPS but still-ridiculous TDO? Consider Armored Mewtwo!

Should you have trouble finding a Mewtwo or a Shadow Mewtwo, you aren’t out options, though, as Metagross is one of the other best Pokemon in the game, and it’s a Psychic-type as well. Regular Metagross has been pushed down the list a bit by Shadow Pokemon, but it also received a Shadow form, making it one of the highest-reaching attackers in the entire game. With a DPS of 20.02 and TDO of just below a thousand, Shadow Metagross isn’t going to be stopped by much. The only issue with Psychic-attacker Metagross is that it has better use elsewhere. With a Steel-type moveset, Shadow Metagross launches itself even further up the charts, so it’s better to opt for that and leave the Psychic-type attacks to Mewtwo and the rest of the gang.

Pokmon Go: Best Team To Use For Great League

Great League is part of the Interlude Season for Pokémon Go. The best teams for Great League require Registeel, Walrain, and other powerful Pokémon.

Great League has its own set of rules in Pokémon Go for trainers to follow. Outside of capturing Pokémon around the globe and trading with friends, Pokémon Go has a fairly deep competitive PvP mode. Trainers can face off against others in three-on-three Pokémon battles to determine which is the stronger of the two. The more matches the player is able to win, the better rewards they’ll earn down the line. Most Pokémon Go players might ignore PvP at first due to how intimidating it can be on the surface level, and those who don’t participate are missing out on a chance to get great items.

The Pokémon Go Battle League is broken up into three different tiers, Great, Ultra, and Master League. Each one has its own rules regarding which Pokémon are allowed to enter and which ones will be immediately banned. For example, trainers looking to participate in the Interlude Season will need to use Great League rulesets. With Great League, all Pokémon will need to have less than 1500 CP in order to enter. Since most legendary Pokémon already shoot over this number substantially, many of them are banned right from the gate. Instead, trainers will need to build a team with low CP but powerful attacks.

Things To Know About Putting Together A Great League Team In Pokmon Go

A side benefit of the Great League is putting a team together is cheaper and easier than other leagues, meaning if you want to make inroads through the Go Battle League ranks without spending a lot of Stardust, you can.

Though there are fewer Legendaries and Mythicals to consider you’ll be leaning on more common catches which, given the restrictions, start to shine.

And if you don’t have our recommended Great League choices, chances are you can find them pretty easily in the wild. It also makes Community Day, which offers an easy source of strong Pokémon that fare well at lower CP levels, a more attractive proposition.

No matter which League you participate in, remember you are after Pokémon with a decent amount of bulk and those that best counter or expose weaknesses in the current meta .

Though there are specific Pokémon and types that dominate the meta, remember with the Go Battle League you’ll be going in blind so even if you cover yourself with a wide range of offence and defence options, no team is invincible.

Still – even with a few of the below Pokémon in your team, you should be able to fare better than if you just selected those as close to the 1500 CP cap as possible.

    Using The Move Rankings

Each Pokemon has a pool of Fast Moves and a pool of Charged Moves. Some moves might be better in one battle, and other moves might be better in another. For Trainer Battles, you’ll want know which moves will be the best ones to have in the most matchups. You might also want to know which Pokemon are the best candidates for a second Charged Move. The move details within each Pokemon ranking can help you determine that.

Moves are ranked using calculations primarily based on their damage and energy cost. Stat changes are also factored in. These calculations are run for each matchup, and then totaled across the format. Matchup weighting affects these numbers as well, so moves that would be used against significant meta targets will rank higher.

When looking at potential moves, keep an eye out for Pokemon that have a strong tendency toward a single Fast Move and a single Charged Move. These Pokemon will have their optimal moveset in the most matchups. On the other hand, some Pokemon see more balanced usage in their Charged Moves. This is where having a second Charged Move comes into play.

As an exercise, select any one Pokemon in the Team Builder tool and compare its battle histograms when it has one Charged Move and when it has two. If a second Charged Move improves its matchups, it might be one worth investing in.
