Laprass strongest moveset is Water Gun & Surf and it has a Max CP of 2,641 when attacking Pokémon in Gyms. This alone move has the highest total DPS and is also the best moveset for PVP battles.

Lapras equipped 277 Stamina and it can basically be a damage sponge, even though its 174 Defense isnt exactly stunning. Lapras can be a good pokemon for PvP with its humongous energy stat.

Such stamina helps Lapras to keep active for long periods of time without down charge moves capability.

Outlast It With Tanky Pokemon

Tanky Pokemon are a great choice here, but you do have to be careful of the OHKO move Sheer Cold. Use the fact that OHKO moves can’t be used during Dynamax to your advantage. Also note that if you yourself are Dynamaxed, Sheer Cold won’t have any effect!

Fight Back With Snorlax

Lapras has a great movepool, but its Sp. Atk isn’t particularly high. This means that a Pokemon with no weaknesses to it and high Sp. Def can easily withstand it. Snorlax is the perfect candidate here, especially if it has the ability Thick Fat, which gives it resistance to Ice moves.

Ferrothorn Is Also Possbile

Ferrothorn’s resistance to water moves means it doesn’t have to worry, even against Max Geyser in the rain. Also, it can deal super-effective damage to Lapras, and even avoid activating Weakness Policy by using Leech Seed and waiting it out.

What About Secondary Charge Moves In Pokmon Go

With PvP Trainer Battles, Niantic also introduced secondary Charge Moves. You can buy them with Stardust and Candy, and TM them to whatever it is you need. So, what do you need? Typically, variety. If the best Charge Move is a full bar, get a secondary that’s multi-bar. If there are two possible types for the Charged move, get both. For example, a Mewtwo with Shadow Ball or Psystrike is incredible, but one with both? Gamebreaker! However, adding a second Charge Move is expensive so make sure there is a good secondary move before spending on this upgrade.

Counters: Machamp, Tyranitar, Arcanine, Charizard, Moltres

Grunts using this taunt will use Ice type Pokémon. Easily defeated by using or Rock type attacks. Cloyster and Lapras are possible encounters which can be trickier for your rock types. You can bring an Electric type in the back just in case. Also, Fire types are extremely good against the Snover family line and Arcanine features Wild Charge which could prove useful against Lapras or Cloyster.

Which Is The Best Ice Type Move For Lapras

Frost Breath and Ice Shard are both great go-to Ice-type options for offense. Water Gun should be paired with Hydro Pump, but is undesired, as Laprass niche is in its STAB Ice-type moves. Blizzard is on par with Ice Beam the choice is down to personal preference. Hydro Pump performs similarly to Surf, akin to the above Ice-type charge moves.

What beats Lapras in Pokemon GO? With this Pokemon situated comfortably on Team GO Rocket Executive Leader Sierra’s team, trainers are rapidly searching for the best counters and strategies.

Lapras is a water and ice-type Pokemon originating from the Kanto region as part of the original 151 in Generation I. Its PokeDex number is #131. In Pokemon GO, it has a CP ceiling of 2641, an attack stat of 165, defense of 174, and stamina of 277. It was once considered one of the strongest Pokemon in the game when it was first released. Now, despite its nerf, it still holds a place as a decent Great and Ultra GO Battle League contender.

How Did We Find The Most Reliable Counter To Lapras

As is typical in any Pokemon title, including Go, precisely how strong a Pokemon is and what moves it uses may vary depending on the individual, but there are a few things we can use as a weakness that remains consistent across all of any given species of Pokemon.

The easiest of these to exploit for counter purposes is often the Pokemons Type.

Lapras, a classic Pokemon from way back in generation I, is a Water/Ice Dual-Type. This combination may actually not be the best for battle though, as while Lapras design may look amazing, it has only two resistances and 4 separate weaknesses to deal with.

• Water
• Ice

Water attacks will deal 62.5% damage against Lapras, while Ice will struggle twice as much dealing only 39% damage.

Weaknesses

• Dragon Pulse
• Ice Beam

While Rock-Types are a counter, they are weak to the various Water-Type moves Lapras has, making them a poor overall choice. Grass-Types will resist water but struggle with Ice attacks, another unfortunate option.

Electric-Types and Fighting-Type will deal good damage without the additional risk, which is perhaps the best we can hope for here.

Arlo’s Third Pokmon Option : Gardevoir

• Nidoqueen: Poison Jab and Poison Fang.
• Metagross: Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash.

Weakness And Counters Summary

Grass-Types theoretically have the most advantages here, resisting Water based attacks, but suffer heavily against Ice-Types, which Lapras has plenty of too. Your best bet will probably be using an Electric or Fighting-Type Pokemon as those dont have the drawbacks Grass-Types will.

Of course you could use a Rock-Type, but theyre weak to Water-Type attacks and will take a lot of damage back for no extra gain.

Choosing A Water Move

For Sheer Damage, Choose Hydro Pump

If you want damage on your team, going with Hydro Pump is the right answer. When you need to burst down a bulky foe, Hydro Pump’s 110 Power is what you need, but beware its low 80% accuracy. It might be best to use this move only while Gigantamaxed.

For Reliability, Choose Sparkling Aria

Sparkling Aria is a much more accurate move which also has the added benefit of hitting through Substitute! If your opponent sees a Lapras, they’re likely to hesitate when throwing out a Substitute, so you’ll be able to take get the tactical advantage over them as well.
