What Are The Best Pokmon Go Movesets
While we won’t go into the best movesets for every single Pokémon after all, even with the best moves, a Pidgey isn’t getting you very far we do have the best moves for all the Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, as well as the best non-Legendary Pokémon. And now, with the introduction of Mega Evolution, we’ve got your Mega Pokémon too!
Pve Defensive Moves Explanation
Attackers may be inclined to throw Water-types at Charizard, in which case Air Slash edges out Fire Spin.
Ember and Wing Attack are worse versions of Fire Spin and Air Slash, respectively.
Dragon Claw is the preferred charge move due its early damage window, wide neutral coverage, and 3 bars.
Return is inferior in terms of damage, but is much harder to dodge.
Flamethrower is a decent alternative, but Blast Burn is decisively better.
- Fire Blast and Overheat are poor due to their late damage windows and charge time.
- Dragon Breath is inferior on defense.
Pokmon Go Mega Charizard Y
The two Pokémon most recommended, partly due to their strength but also them being fairly common, are Rhyperior and Tyranitar. Both of these are Rock-types, making them resistant to almost all of Mega Charizard Y’s attacks, plus taking advantage of its double weakness. Rhyperior is the better of the two if you have it stacked with Smack Down and Rock Wrecker. Rock Wrecker, costing two bars of charge, is the best use of your energy throughout the fight.
Tyranitar is still a great option, coming in with fantastic stats, though you will want to make sure it knows Smack Down and Stone Edge. Smack Down is especially important, even doing better the any of Rhyperior’s attacks, otherwise Tyranitar falls short of being a top tier pick.
If neither of these Pokémon work for you, some other strong Rock-types you could consider are Gigalith, Aerodactyl, Golem, Lunatone, Solrock, and Aggron. If you really wanted to throw in a Water-type, the only one you should consider is a Mega Blastoise.

Pokemon Go: Charizard’s Top Move Choices For Pve And Pvp
Charizard has quite a few moves at its disposal when it comes to combat, so trainers have substantial flexibility when picking a moveset that complements the Kanto starter well.
All of Charizard’s current moves in Pokemon GO can be found below:
- Blast Burn
While many Pokemon in Pokemon GO have five to six moves in their entire collection, Charizard has five moves for both Fast and Charge moves, giving it plenty of attacks to choose from.
As such, it can be tricky to decide which are worth using TMs on. Depending on what role a trainer intends to use Charizard in, the top moveset picks are slightly different:
PvE Attack and Defense
- When attacking gyms, raid bosses, and Team GO Rocket’s Shadow Pokemon, Charizard can obliterate its Pokemon GO opponents with Fire Spin and Blast Burn. If players want to keep a Flying-type attack in their arsenal to take advantage of type matchups, they can also run Wing Attack and Blast Burn. Blast Burn should probably stay the preferred Charge Move for Charizard in nearly any PvE situation, as the Same Type Attribute Bonus it receives makes it one of the top Fire-type PvE picks that don’t enter the Legendary Pokemon category.

Moveset That Trainers Can Use To Get The Best Out Of Charizard In Pokemon Go
Every Pokemon has a moveset that works best when battling in raid or PVP battles in Pokemon GO.
A moveset is a combination of a fast move, which deals damage every few seconds, and a charge move, which deals the most damage to an opponent.
Charizard’s best moveset is the Fire Spin and Blast Burn. This combination of moves is the most effective for PVP battles and raids. It is even useful for battles against the infamous Team Go Rocket. It is also a move combination with the highest total DPS .

What About Secondary Charge Moves In Pokmon Go
With PvP Trainer Battles, Niantic also introduced secondary Charge Moves. You can buy them with Stardust and Candy, and TM them to whatever it is you need. So, what do you need? Typically, variety. If the best Charge Move is a full bar, get a secondary that’s multi-bar. If there are two possible types for the Charged move, get both. For example, a Mewtwo with Shadow Ball or Psystrike is incredible, but one with both? Gamebreaker! However, adding a second Charge Move is expensive so make sure there is a good secondary move before spending on this upgrade.

Even though Torterra is an excellent physical tank, Ice-type attacks will usually be enough to take it down. As such, pairing Torterra with Pokemon that can take Ice-type attacks is a good idea. Lanturn makes a great partner as it can easily sponge Ice-type attacks in addition to Fire-type attacks, while also scaring away the users.
Best Charizard Attacks Pokemon Go
Charizard, to some trainers’ surprise, is a fire and flying-type, despite its draconic appearance. It is most effective when placed on the offenseâeither taking down gyms or on a GO Battle Ultra League team. Pokemon GO trainers can evolve Charizard from Charmeleon using 100 candies. It can be temporarily mega-evolved into Mega Charizard X or Mega Charizard Y using 200 Mega Energy.

Best Charizard Moves In Pokemon Go
Charizard has had a lot of different moves, courtesy of being around for every move rework Niantic has done, so this will be a long chart.
*Keep in mind that STAB cycle DPS calculations just compare the different movesets and they are not Pokémon-specific
- An important consideration however, is while these are accurate DPS listings, some of these moveset combination are impossible, such as any of the legacy moves with Blast Burn.
- Blast Burn outdoes Overheat in any available category with any available fast move. Which makes sense, as Blast Burn is indeed the best available Fire type charge move.
- As far as being a mixed type attacker, Wing Attack is superior to Air Slash, although not by terribly much. In any case, if you have one, it has some small utility against Grass and Bug types if weather is Windy.
- Ember is a trophy at best, as is Flamethrower with the advent of Blast Burn.
- Dragon Claw is best kept to surprise Dragon type attackers in gyms like Dragonite and Rayquaza, if you have it in a gym for whatever reason.

Fire Spin is Charizards best fast move and strictly superior to Ember.
Wing Attack is preferable to Air Slash and equal to Fire Spin if both have the same effectiveness.
Blast Burn makes Charizard one of the strongest Fire-type attackers.
Overheat is Charizard’s best non-exclusive charged move and beats Fire Blast soundly.
Flamethrower has less cycle DPS than Overheat and is just a worse Blast Burn, but has advantages due to multiple charge bars.
- Dragon Breath and Dragon Claw can work as a pseudo-dragon attacker, but are best reserved for Mega Charizard X.

Using The Move Rankings
Each Pokemon has a pool of Fast Moves and a pool of Charged Moves. Some moves might be better in one battle, and other moves might be better in another. For Trainer Battles, you’ll want know which moves will be the best ones to have in the most matchups. You might also want to know which Pokemon are the best candidates for a second Charged Move. The move details within each Pokemon ranking can help you determine that.
Moves are ranked using calculations primarily based on their damage and energy cost. Stat changes are also factored in. These calculations are run for each matchup, and then totaled across the format. Matchup weighting affects these numbers as well, so moves that would be used against significant meta targets will rank higher.
When looking at potential moves, keep an eye out for Pokemon that have a strong tendency toward a single Fast Move and a single Charged Move. These Pokemon will have their optimal moveset in the most matchups. On the other hand, some Pokemon see more balanced usage in their Charged Moves. This is where having a second Charged Move comes into play.
As an exercise, select any one Pokemon in the Team Builder tool and compare its battle histograms when it has one Charged Move and when it has two. If a second Charged Move improves its matchups, it might be one worth investing in.
