The new Appraisal feature is a great way to quickly discover how powerful your new Pokemon are. Finding out that an old favourite has a three star rating is incredibly gratifying.
Its especially useful for when youre comparing a bunch of the same Pokémon, as you can keep the stat appraisal screen open as you move between Pokémon. This allows you to quickly compare stats and star rankings as you try to decide which Pokémon to keep and which ones to release.
You can even search for Pokémon by their specific star tier, just like how you can search for them by name. To do this, youll need to search:
- 0* = 0 Stars
- 3* = 3 Stars
- 4* = 3 Stars with a red background / 100% Pokémon
The new ranking system makes it a lot easier to decide which Pokémon are worth investing your Stardust and Candy in. Though its still important to remember a Pokémons rarity and whether its one of the best Pokémon in the game.
Though by and large the closer to 100% this is the better, depending on the Pokémon, some individual stats are more important than others so it isnt the be all and end all.
For example, if you have a Snorlax one of the best creatures to put in a gym with its high health with a low HP stat, that makes it a less attractive proposition. But then again, because its rare, you might not have any alternative Snorlax to rely on. Of course, an average Snorlax will still perform better than others in its field, so it could still be worth Powering up.
How To Get Umbreon And Espeon During Community Day
Umbreon and Espeon are the first two Eeveelutions to have their evolution method changed.
Usually, players would have to walk 10km with Eevee as their buddy, before evolving it during the day for Espeon or at night for Umbreon.
Thankfully, due to the time-limited nature of Pokemon GO Community Days, Niantic has realised that expecting players to walk 10km multiple times during the event is unrealistic. Theyve therefore ensured that the walking requirement has been removed and instead, players just need to set Eevee as a buddy and evolve it during the day or night, depending on which evolution they want.
Like Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon, Umbreon and Espeon also have a single-use naming trick. Evolve an Eevee named Tamao or Sakura to get Umbreon or Espeon.

How To Evolve Multiple Leafeons And Glaceons With A Lure Module
There’s also another method to evolve Eevee into Leafeon and Glaceon – perhaps the most obvious way if you’ve had a look in the game’s shop.
Available from the in-game store for 200 coins apiece, the Mossy and Glacial Lure Modules work just like the ordinary Lure Modules in the game. Simply buy whichever one takes your fancy and use it on a nearby PokéStop.
- Mossy Lure Module – Used to evolve Eevee into Leafeon
- Glacial Lure Module – Used to evolve Eevee into Glaceon
You’ll notice that it attracts specific types of Pokémon to your area, but click on one of the Eevees in your collection while within range of the PokéStop and you’ll see that its evolution button has changed to the respective target evolution. Hit the button and Eevee will evolve into Leafeon or Glaceon right before your eyes .
Make sure you’re within range of the PokéStop and that the evolution button is indicating a new evolution before you press it, rather than displaying the usual Eevee question mark symbol.
It’s also worth noting that these Lure Modules behave just like the ordinary variants within the game. This means that if another player has used a special Eevee Lure Module on a nearby PokéStop, you can swoop in and use it to evolve your own Eevee. .

How To Evolve Espeon And Umbreon In Pokmon Go

You can evolve Espeon and Umbreon by using the Eevee name trick or by using the Buddy Pokémon evolution method.
In order to get Espeon or Umbreon do the following steps with your Eevee Buddy:
- Set the Eevee you wish to evolve as your Buddy
- Walk at least 10 km with Eevee and earn 2 Eevee Candies with your Buddy
- Evolve the Eevee while its your Buddy
- Evolving an Eevee during day time will give you Espeon
- Evolving an Eevee during night time will give you Umbreon
Eevee must be set as a buddy before the evolution. After making sure all criteria are met, evolving during the day will get the trainer a Psychic type Espeon, while Dark type Umbreon will make its appearance at night time in the Pokémon GO app.
Since the day and night are determined by local time, the GPS signal is also required otherwise the evolution will be random.
None of the Pokémon that require a special item or task to evolve spawn in the wild, including both Espeon and Umbreon. The Buddy System method can be used repeatedly making it the only reliable way to obtain them.
How To Evolve Umbreon & Espeon In Pokemon Go
Unlike the previous evolutions, however, Umbreon and Espeon dont evolve from Eevee at random, requiring specific actions to get them.
- Espeon: For the Psychic-type, youll need to make Eevee your Buddy and walk 10km with them. After this, the mons Evolve button should show the silhouette of Espeon during the day.
- Umbreon: This method is almost identical for Umbreon, except you need to evolve the Pokemon at night.

How To Evolve Eevee Into Espeon And Umbreon
Espeon and Umbreon do have a secondary means of securing their evolutions, though it takes a little more effort than a simple name change or purchasing a Lure Module.
This method is probably the most involved of all but if your heart is set then itll be worth it. For these Generation 2 evolutions, you have to set your Eevee as your buddy and have it walk with you for 10km in order to earn two candies .
Once thats done, you can evolve your Eevee, but the time of day shown in-game will determine which of the evolutions you get. Evolve Eevee during the day and youll get the Psychic-type Espeon. At night, on the other hand, youll get the Dark-type Umbreon.
This trick can be somewhat finicky, so do make sure that Eevee is still your buddy when you evolve it and ensure that you have GPS signal so that the game has the time of day absolutely right where you are. Fortunately, this isnt limited like the nicknames so you can do it as often as you like .

Catching Eevee And Collecting Candy
Like any other Pokémon in Pokémon Go, you need to collect Eevee candy before you can get your hands on its evolutions. Eevee requires 25 candy for each. Currently, there are seven Eevee evolutions in the game, which means you will need to collect a total of 175 candy to acquire Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon and the rest.
This is the toughest part because youre going to need to catch a ton of Eevees to make this happen. It requires some patience, but there are ways you can expedite the process. Here is what you can do:
- Use Incense or add a Lure to a Pokéstop to make Pokémon spawn more frequently.
- Use Pinap berries when you spot an Eevee. This will double the candy you receive if you successfully catch it. Use Great or Ultra balls to decrease the chance of Eevee escaping.
- Already have an Eevee? Make it your walking buddy, enable Adventure Sync, and receive candy for every kilometer you walk, whether you have the app open or not.
- Hatch eggs! Eevee is available from 5km eggs and is relatively common.
- Complete field research tasks Eevee can appear in reward encounters.
- Be on the lookout for Community Days and events. They can have increased spawn rates for certain Pokémon, including Eevee.

Unlike the Generation I Eevee evolutions, you have more control over which of the later evolutions you get. To obtain another Espeon or Umbreon, you need to make Eevee your Buddy and walk 10 km with it. Once youve done that, evolve Eevee using 25 Candy during the day to get Espeon, or evolve it at night to get Umbreon. However, there are times that the actual time in your area and the time in the game are not in sync. Thus, youll have to check the color of the sky in the game rather than just looking out the window to make sure that you get the Eevee evolution you want.

Getting a Leafeon or a Glaceon involves Lure Modules. These are special items that you can use on PokéStops to get more wild Pokémon to appear. They come in different types and each one of them attracts specific types of Pokémon.
For Eevee to evolve into Leafeon, youll need a Mossy Lure, and as for Glaceon, youll need a Glacial Lure. You can purchase both of these items from the shop for 200 PokéCoins each. Grass-type Leafeon and Ice-type Glaceon are the latest Eeveelutions to be added to Pokémon Go and unlike Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon there is a secondary way of securing their forms.
In order to evolve Eevee into Leafeon and Glaceon youll have to get specific items: either the Glacial Lure Module for Glaceon or the Mossy Lure Module for Leafeon, both of which can be purchased in the in-game shop for 200 coins each.
Once you have the correct Lure Module, simply apply it to a PokéStop. While youre still close to that PokéStop and the Lure is active, evolve your Eevee using the usual 25 candies and you should get the form youre looking for. If everything is working properly, the evolution button should show the outline of the Eevee evolution youre going to get before you press it, rather than the usual question mark.

How To Evolve Eevee Without The Name Trick
Unfortunately Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon all evolve randomly from Eevee. However, Umbreon, Espeon, Glaceon, and Leafeon have alternative methods.
Umbreon and Espeon both evolve after walking with the Eevee as your buddy Pokémon for 10 kilometers. Once thats done, the buddy Eevee evolved during the night will yield Umbreon while the day will yield Espeon. Note that when you evolve Eevee, it still needs to be your buddy Pokémon for this trick to work.
Leafeon and Glaceon can both be reliably evolved from spinning a Mossy Lure or a Glacial Lure, respectively. After spinning a Pokéstop with these Lure Modules active, the next Eevee you will evolve will become its leaf or ice form. Note that you need to be in range of the Lure Module. You will see the chosen Eevee evolution icon change once youve spun one of these lured Pokéstops.
Sylveonwill evolve after being set as your buddy Pokémon and earning 70 hearts with it. This will take several days of play, but you can speed up the process by using Poffins.
