Pokemon Go Garchomp Best Moveset

Must read

Playing Mind Games In The Master League With Garchomp

Best Garchomp moveset with PvPoke. Community Day Analysis // Pokemon Go

One major advantage of using Garchomp is its unpredictability. Courtesy of Mud Shots exceptional energy gains, you never really know what is hitting you! It can be Sand Tomb, Outrage or even Earthquake. But the fact remains that Outrage and Earthquake are still expensive charged moves.

The addition of Earth Power just takes the unpredictability associated with Garchomp to another level! With 55 energy requirement, Earth Power charges quicker than either Outrage or Earthquake, making your opponent more unsure than ever on whether to use a shield or not. Backed with Garchomps phenomenal 261 ATK stat, an Earth Power left unshielded can cause massive damage.

So when you are facing a Garchomp ready to hit, is it Sand Tomb or is it Earth Power? Should you shield or should you not? The mind games are on!

With Dragon Tail in the mix now, the meta is dreading the massive amounts of damage that Garchomp would do with its deadly new weapon. Coupled with Sand Tombs debuffs and the nuke from Outrage/Earth Power, Dragon Tail Garchomp is literally going to thrash its opponents with a mean streak. Dragon Tail does so much damage already, that either Outrage or Warth Power would be mercy!

Theres a land shark out there and the meta best be prepared for the mind games from this apex pseudo legendary!

Garchomp Used Earthquake Enough Said

Earthquake has been Garchomps primary nuke and its most feared move across generations and different meta. It is Garchomps main weapon against Dialga, Metagross, Melmetal, Tyranitar and basically, any Pokémon that it wants to dish out DMG Maxima.

With shields down and a Garchomp with Earthquake, it is more or less game over. It hits with an Earthquake and it will OHKO. Period.

But it should be elaborated that next to the non-STAB and super expensive Fire Blast, Earthquake is Chomps most expensive move. With a high 65 energy requirement, Garchomp needs respectable energy gains with Mud Shot to nail this powerful move.

So Garchomps most powerful moves, Outrage and Earthquake, have a relatively costly energy requirement of 60 and 65 respectively in PvP. Hmm, not really bad but what if there was a cheaper move with STAB?

Oh yes, theres Sand Tomb. But hey, if youre up against a Steel type towards the end of the battle , Mud Shot and Sand Tomb dont exactly make a high damaging pair. Outrage is resisted and Fire Blast takes forever to charge.

So so what if there was a STAB charged move that has a lower energy requirement than either Outrage and Earthquake, hits way harder than Sand Tomb and can possibly debuff the opponents DEF stat?

Dont you feel that would be absolutely amazing? Fortunately, Niantic has mutual feelings.

Because the exclusive move for Garchomp on its Community Day is

Mud Shot And Earth Power Garchomp: Performance In Pvp

This is what you have been waiting for, right?

Before I begin, let me tell you that Garchomp, per se, is not really viable for the Great League and Ultra League. Even PVPoke was adamant in their tweets that Flygon or even Vibrava find themselves more viable in the lower leagues for being the premier GroundDragonPokémon.

As such, my analysis of Earth power Garchomp in PvP will be strictly limited to the Master League Classic and Open Master League meta. This pseudo legendary land shark jet dragon is all ML material! Also, this will be about the Mud Shot + Earth Power set as it makes the best use of Earth Power.

With that being said, lets dig in !

Garchomp Max Cp And Meta Relevance

Best Nature For Garchomp

Garchomp has a very impressive max CP at both level 40 and level 50.

At level 40, Garchomp hits a max of 3962 CP and at level 50, when powered up with XL Candies, it tops out at 4479 CP.

In terms of the meta, youre going to want to hold on to your Garchomps for the Master League and only the Master League.

With its new moveset, focusing on Ground-type moves, Garchomp is a force to be reckoned with.

According to PVPoke, Garchomp is now the 9th best pick in the Master League, ranking higher than plenty of strong Pokemon.

In battle, it picks up wins against the likes of:

  • Giratina

Don’t Miss: Espeon Pokemon Go Nickname

Great: Sandstorm & Sand Veil

Garchomp is lucky enough to come equipped with two equally useful abilities that each play a completely different role. Sand Veil is a weather-based ability that requires Sandstorm to be active, a move that Garchomp can learn.

Although, it’s best utilized by having another team member with a Sandstorm-activating ability, which grants Garchomp 1.25x evasiveness and immunity to Sandstorm’s chip damage. Making Garchomp harder to hit while also hitting opponents with chip damage makes fighting Garchomp more of a nightmare than it already was.

How much will you rely on this Dragon-type Pokémon?

Because there are so many Pokémon for you to consider when creating a Pokémon Go team, the options are overwhelming. When you reach the higher ranks in the game, you start to notice a few trends and best complement one another. Garchomp is a Pokémon youre going to see in plenty of teams regularly, and its understandable why you would. Its potent and can battle against many of the legendary Pokémon that are normally hard to acquire. Following Gibbles community day, Garchomp has become even more powerful. With the addition of earth power to its charged move choices, we cannot help but recommend this Pokémon even more for the Master League or anyone competing at the level 50 competitions. Weve also listed out the best moveset to teach Garchomp.

Garchomp is a Dragon and Ground-type Pokémon. It will be against Dragon, Fairy, and Ice-type moves, but it is resistant to Electric, Fire, Poison, and Rock-type attacks.

When you use Garchomp in PvP, it has a maximum CP of 3,962, an attack of 218, a defense of 164, and a stamina of 200. When you use it in PvE raids, it has an attack of 261, a defense of 193, and a stamina of 239. Because of its higher CP, you dont want to use it in the Great or Ultra. You primarily want to use Garchomp in the Master League, which can be a little bit intimidating, but its a fierce competitor.

Mud Shot + Outrage And Sand Tomb Or Earth Power*

Mud Shots fantastic energy gain combined with two very powerful charged moves in Earthquake and Outrage make Garchomp a terrifying threat. Hes at his best when your opponent has no shields, so he should be saved until the end of a game to close it out. Notably, though, you can exchange Earthquake out for Sand Tomb, trading some of that incredible nuke potential for the ability to actually perform while shields are up. Earth Power is limited to Community Day events and Elite TMs, but its lesser energy cost than Garchomp’s stronger moves makes it better when shields are in play.

Dragon Tail is a solid move thanks to the GBL Season 8 update, allowing it to be potentially viable for strategies involving high fast move damage. However, its lesser energy generation makes it slower to access Garchomp’s devastating charge moves. Fire Blast can catch out opposing Togekiss, but on the whole just isn’t worth running.

Pokmon Go: Best Movesets August 2021

While it may seem like Combat Power or stats are the most important factors in Pokémon Go, movesets play a critical role as well. Movesets are the combination of the fast attack and charged attack your Pokémon uses in battles.

The wonderful, terrible thing about movesets is that they’re usually determined at random. The good news is that, with Technical Machines and Elite TMs, you change your old, terrible moves. But how do you know which movesets will help your Pokémon win at PvP Trainer Battles and decimate Gyms and Raids and which will make a fight simply unwinnable? Here’s the newly updated list! The Best Moveset For Garchomp In Pokmon Go

Pokémon GO has two different forms of Pokémon attack. Movement speed is important when a Pokémon is fighting with the trainer in control. It attacks differently when controlled by AI, such as defending a gym, hitting every 2 seconds regardless.

However, when it comes to Garchomp, the best moveset in Pokémon GO sees no difference between the two. Offense and Defense carry the same combination of Quick Attack and Charge Attack.

Aiming to catch as many Gible as you can during June #PokemonGOCommunityDay? Great news! Decoy modules activated during the event will last three hours!

Pokémon GO

Those who evolve Gabite during Pokémon GOs Gible Community Day will end up with a Garchomp that knows the Earth Power attack. Although he is incredibly strong, he does not beat his best charged attack.

Dragon Tail as Fast Attack and Outrage as Charged Attack will do incredible damage. They both receive an attack bonus of the same type and are super effective against other powerful Dragon-type Pokémon.

Garchomp is weak against Dragon and Fairy moves, but 2x weak against Ice-type moves. Even with those weaknesses, Garchomps two Dragon-type attacks will decimate Pokémon of many types.

On STAB, Dragon Tail does 16.4 damage per second, while Outrage does 33.8 DPS. The Fast Attack gathers 9 energy each time it hits and the Charged Attack only requires 50 to use.

What About Secondary Charge Moves In Pokmon Go

Pokemon GO: Garchomp â How to Get, Best Moveset, Max CP ...

With PvP Trainer Battles, Niantic also introduced secondary Charge Moves. You can buy them with Stardust and Candy, and TM them to whatever it is you need. So, what do you need? Typically, variety. If the best Charge Move is a full bar, get a secondary that’s multi-bar. If there are two possible types for the Charged move, get both. For example, a Mewtwo with Shadow Ball or Psystrike is incredible, but one with both? Gamebreaker! However, adding a second Charge Move is expensive so make sure there is a good secondary move before spending on this upgrade.

The Groundbreaking Earth Power Quite Literally

Earth Power it is. Honestly, from all available moves in Pokémon Go, Earth Power was undoubtedly the most viable move for Garchomp. Yes, Dragon Claw and Dragon Breath are nice but they lack the raw power you associate with Garchomp. Plus, they dont have any real meaning in PvE.

As such, Earth Power is the best Garchomp could get. And it did!

There has been a huge gap between Earthquake and Sand Tomb for a long, long time. There was no real answer to which one is better. Each has its perks and applications. It would have been wishful thinking to have a move that combines the intricacies of both moves and here we are!

Earth Power bridges the gap between Earthquake and Sand Tomb. Lets see how shall we?

Pokemon Go: Best Electric

Legendaries and Megas reign supreme over the Electric-type category, with only Shadow Electivire managing to eke in. Still, with only one weakness and some amazing super effective damage against Flying- and Water-types, Electric-types can cover a lot of ground.

Among these Electric-types, Shadow Raikou is, without challenge, the best. Its max Attack is a bit lower than Zapdos, but it doesnt even matter with the amount of extra damage its moveset can do. Wild Charge outclasses Thunderbolt completely, and Raikou has more max Defense, meaning itll stick around a bit longer. Sure, Zapdos resists Electrics only weakness in Ground, but it trades that out for weaknesses to Ice- and Rock-type moves.

On the topic of Zapdos even though its a bit behind Shadow Raikou, Zapdos Shadow variant is by no means way worse. It comes in a close second or third situationally, with less DPS than Sh. Raikou and Sh. Electivire, but more TDO than the latter. As we said, Zapdos negates Electrics weakness to Ground, but it has a weakness to Rock and Ice instead, which can be good or bad, depending on what the situation is. Unfortunately, both Shadow Raikou and Shadow Zapdos are extremely hard to get your hands on, so if you dont have them, you might have to settle for another Pokemon from this ranking.

Using The Move Rankings

Each Pokemon has a pool of Fast Moves and a pool of Charged Moves. Some moves might be better in one battle, and other moves might be better in another. For Trainer Battles, you’ll want know which moves will be the best ones to have in the most matchups. You might also want to know which Pokemon are the best candidates for a second Charged Move. The move details within each Pokemon ranking can help you determine that.

Moves are ranked using calculations primarily based on their damage and energy cost. Stat changes are also factored in. These calculations are run for each matchup, and then totaled across the format. Matchup weighting affects these numbers as well, so moves that would be used against significant meta targets will rank higher.

When looking at potential moves, keep an eye out for Pokemon that have a strong tendency toward a single Fast Move and a single Charged Move. These Pokemon will have their optimal moveset in the most matchups. On the other hand, some Pokemon see more balanced usage in their Charged Moves. This is where having a second Charged Move comes into play.

As an exercise, select any one Pokemon in the Team Builder tool and compare its battle histograms when it has one Charged Move and when it has two. If a second Charged Move improves its matchups, it might be one worth investing in.

There are several legendary Pokémon that you can battle against in Pokémon Go. Palkia is one of the stronger choices, and this Pokémon seldom ever appears in five-star raids. You want to add it to your collection to use it in PvP battles, especially the Master League. Before you can do that, you need to defeat it, likely with a small group of friends. These are all of Palkias weaknesses and the best Pokémon counters in Pokémon Go.

About Garchomp’s Moves

Outrage and Earthquake are Garchomp’s main STAB moves, and can hit a plethora of common Pokemon in the metagame for good damage even without a boost. Stone Edge gives it great neutral coverage when paired with Earthquake, giving Garchomp the coveted “EdgeQuake” combo.

It’s last move is Fire Fang, which is an important coverage move that ensures Garchomp can hit Steel and Grass Pokemon.

About Garchomp’s EV Spread

We’re using the standard EV spread here, with full investment on Speed and Attack so that Garchomp can hit fast and as hard as possible. We invest the remaining 4 EVs into Defense to round up Garchomp’s respectable bulk.

About Garchomp’s Ability

We’re using Rough Skin for this build. Although it doesn’t provide direct offensive bonus, it can break the opposing Pokemon’s Focus Sash if they hit Garchomp with a contact move and allow the land shark to get a KO.

About Garchomp’s Held Item
